Much of the Iranian leadership is alleged to now be dead or to have fled.

Effecting a regime change in Iran means getting rid of the IRGC and they are not going to go without a major fight and getting rid of them with air power alone is a tough gambit. That leaves, it seems, the Iranian military to do that heavy lifting. What I don't understand is if the Iranian military, under the right conditions, is willing to get kinetic with the Mullahs and the IRGC. If the Mullahs and the IRGC leadership gets sufficiently decapitated that leaves a natural power vacuum to fill, presumably by the Iranian military. For now that natural power fault line is something I am going to actively looking for in the news.

Shaw famously nuked the Dukakis campaign, basically. He was known for being a bit provocative. Right out of the gate during an interview, asked ole Mike if he would be in favor of the death penalty for the perp if his wife Kitty were raped and murdered. Dukakis gave some rambling academic cerebral response that didn’t sound too promising for Kitty. It was a bullshit question probably, but he could have handled it better.
