Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Report — 2/26/26![]() Four passengers of a Florida-registered speedboat killed by Cuban border guards were all born in the communist island nation but lived in the US, the Cuban Embassy said Wednesday night. Cuba’s interior ministry claimed the country’s law enforcement opened fire on the boat after it entered their waters for an “armed infiltration” attempt. The vessel was carrying a total of 10 “armed” people who Cuban officials claim “intended to carry out an infiltration for terrorist purposes.” The Interior Ministry alleged assault rifles, handguns, Molotov cocktails and other weapons were found onboard the speedboat. Four of the passengers were gunned down by Cuban border troopers in a shootout. The six injured survivors were identified as Amijail Sánchez González, Leordan Enrique Cruz Gómez, Conrado Galindo Sariol, José Manuel Rodríguez Castelló, Cristian Ernesto Acosta Guevara, and Roberto Azcorra Consuegra, according to the embassy. The embassy additionally identified one of the deceased as Michel Ortega Casanova. An eleventh Cuban national, Duniel Hernández Santos, was also arrested “within national territory,” though it’s unclear if he was on the boat with the other purported infiltrators. . . . . . When asked for comment about the citizenship of those aboard the speedboat, the State Department referred The Post to earlier comments made by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Rubio had vowed that the US would “find out exactly what happened” and “respond accordingly.” He downplayed Cuba’s initial version of the attack, saying the US would find its “own information on this.” “We’re not gonna base our conclusions on what they told us,” he said. Rubio conceded “it is highly unusual to see shootouts in the open sea like that. That’s not something that happens every day.”Now that the Maduro regime has been decapitated and Venezuela has at long last a chance to eradicate the cancer of socialism/communism and restore its society and economy once again to freedom and prosperity, thanks to President Trump's vigorous reassertion of the heretofore long moribund Monroe Doctrine now the DON-roe Doctrine, America's national security has been bolstered. In any case, with Maduro gone and the red menace on the wane all over Latin America, Cuba itself at long last has a chance to throw off the nearly seven long decades of misery and oppression of the Castro regime, thanks to President Trump. They know it, we know it and for sure this President knows it. Record U.S. oil and gas production lowered world prices at the expense of Russia and the Middle East. Interrupting embargoed oil shipments from Venezuela and Iran has weakened Chinese influence and nearly strangled Cuba. . . . . . Efforts to strangle the Cuban and Iranian governments will starve their respective anti-Western surrogates and their own terrorist efforts in Latin America and the Middle East—once more to China’s chagrin. So, are the Cubans merely lashing out due to the aforementioned analysis by lurker extraordinarie Victor Davis Hanson, owing to the President's focus now on Iran or can the Trump State and War Departments handle multiple situations simultaneously. And is what Havana is declaring bullshit or are we engaged in any covert activity in and around Cuba? Their economy and government are now in a very precarious situation now that their supply of oil has been effectively cut off with the collapse of the Maduro regime. Cuba has been and remains a lynchpin for our rivals and enemies to attempt to destabilize us. How incredible would it be to see the statues of bas reliefs of Marx, Lenin and Castro sledgehammered and dynamited off of every Cuban government building, just so we can see Barack Obama weeping at the sight of it. Speaking of the Bay of Pigs, we had and still have the braying of pigs, that is the Democrat/Leftists in reaction to President Trump's tremendous State of the Union Address on Tuesday night. And as CBD and I discussed on the latest episode of the podcast, linked here and in the sidebar as well as available on the usual outlets listed at the bottom of this post, Their vile behavior might very well be their undoing come the November midterms and perhaps into 2028, please God. Of course that remains to be seen but if they continue to elevate illegal aliens, thugs, grifters and other assorted vermin above the American people as no doubt they will, that alone could and must wipe them out electorally, not just in the next two election cycles but for all eternity. Yes, eradicating tyranny abroad is a good thing, but can we please eradicate it here at home first and forever?! I have a dream today!!! Have a great day. Of course nobody is being charged - they're Top Men, after all. But, the cold comfort is that they all thought that banana republic stunt would be a big step up for their careers as loyal, ham-and-eggin' deep state Boy Scouts. Oops! Oopsie! They'll be ok, though. 72 Although of course I don’t support Cuba’s government, the boat they shot up was probably involved in smuggling illegals from Cuba to Florida.
Who else would take a small fishing boat up to Cuba’s coastline? Why else were 10 people on a very small boat that would be expected to have 3 or 4 at most? 78 @64 Whig, one of the best things that Trump could do would be to bring a lawsuit which reaches the SC giving them the opportunity to overrule Sullivan. Thomas has wanted to do that for years
Posted by: Smell the Glove Yes. NYT v. Sullivan's separate std. of public persons made a mess of the law and should be rolled back. The original facts in the case did not merit the legal remedy crafted by Scotus and was mainly a virtue signalling device. The advertisement did not mention the Montgomery city commissioner by name nor would anyone actually much know that particular city commissioner would be in charge of the public services supervision. This was simply another example of the Warren Court bloviating and making legislation rather than simply ruling on the basis that Sullivan (the city commissioner) was not libeled. Posted by: NaCly Dog ======= By the time the 17th Amendment was ratified, most states used an election to seat their Senators. For better or worse, the 17th Amendment was and probably still is more popular than the sausage making that a return to state legislative picks would be. Huntington and Fukuyama formulated their theses in essays around the same time, before expanding them into books. Foreign Policy magazine published both in the same special issue when the USSR went tits up.
I found that issue in my dad's library a couple years later and read both. I couldn't have been more than 11 or 12, and it was a formative wake-up call for me. It was clear right off the bat, even to a dumb kid, that Fukuyama was a fantasist and Huntington was much closer to right, insofar as nobody could tell the future. But he sounded plausible, and Fukuyama sounded stupid as hell - because even children understand human nature. Problem was, his dumb book was out by then, and our President was praising it to the Heavens, and *basing his damn foreign policy on it.* Watching that play out convinced me that we were in some real deep shit. Both Labour and the insurgent hard-left Greens have positioned themselves as the party best situated to prevent Farage getting another Parliamentary seat, and whether either will succeed or if they have only split the left wing vote will be revealed in the early hours of Friday morning after the votes are counted. The Associated Press reflects the three-way race between the Greens, Labour, and Reform is “too close to call”.
Indeed, the Green Party has accused Labour of being irresponsible for campaigning at all, such is the risk they perceive from a Reform win. Prime Minister Herr Starmer, meanwhile stepped into the bounds of the incendiary earlier this week when he predicted the Gorton and Denton area will “descend into hostility” if Reform wins. Semafor shared that security personnel directed Atlantic reporter Elaine Godfrey to leave a campaign rally for Rep. Jasmine Crockett in Texas on Monday. The outlet wrote that Godfrey has reported on Crockett in depth and that the coverage appeared to “frustrate” the congresswoman. Crockett had previously agreed to participate in a profile with the reporter last year, but later informed her that she was “shutting down the profile and revoking all provisions” before the story ran.
In a statement first shared with Semafor, Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg remarked, “In a democracy, elected officials answer questions from the press rather than hide from them. This is completely unacceptable behavior by Rep. Crockett and her team, and needs to be addressed immediately.” Semafor further noted that earlier this month Crockett’s campaign contacted the U.S. Capitol Police regarding CNN reporter Edward-Isaac Dovere, asserting he may have trespassed while attempting to visit a campaign office location. Democratic strategist James Carville expressed on the Politicon podcast that Crockett “violates the first rule of politics,” arguing that “in politics we always make it about the voters and never about yourself.” He added, “You listen to her talk. It’s a lot more about herself than it is to voters.” Carville further explained, “What wins elections is not sitting there talking about yourself,” and said winning elections is about “being part of framing issues and understanding where people are coming from,” concluding, “I don’t think Congressman Crockett is very good at that. I’ll be very frank.”
Meanwhile, President Trump, whom Crockett has urged to be impeached and has labeled an “enemy of the United States,” a “con man,” the “grim reaper,” and as “using Hitler’s playbook,” among other characterizations, maintains a record of public accountability. That's right. That's right. And and one of the most consistent psychological differences between men and women is women have a strong uh impulse of caring, right? Which is exactly I mean I I'm not somebody who looks to evolutionary biology for the solutions to all human phenomena, but this particular one does seem glaringly Darwinian, right? that women see helpless things and they want to take care of them. That is definitely something that Darwin would find a pretty easy explanation for. But that's also something that wokeness can easily weaponize. It means that if you can frame your political issue as a way of caring for some helpless class, then you're golden. Right. You Minorities are babies. That's right. Can you say RICO?
It was designed to deal with criminal enterprises that had 'lots of buffers.' It reaches beyond a simple conspiracy case because it covers bad people doing bad things without necessarily knowing the greater RICO scheme, just that they knew their part in it. To bring a RICO case you need two or more RICO predicates. 'Murder for hire' is one, as you'd expect But another is "Bringing in, aiding or assisting aliens in illegally entering the country (if the action was for financial gain);" If you have the right facts, RICO is a killer. Especially coming out of Miami, where Pam Bondi knows the judges. Betting markets have no failure records at all! I think what Mayor Mandami said was that it was a "snowball fight" as if cops were engaged in fun and games with young people . The cops were not throwing anything, and the snowballs were made up of ice and contained rocks. Whether a Data Center; trash-to-steam plant with NO evidence of pollution; one of the few electrical generation stations (760-megawatt, oil and gas fired unit) now operating under fed. orders, or an LNG plant, Environment Justice is on it!! Do they protest the port operation (which reportedly moved from New Jersey for environment reasons: Eagles nesting in Camden, NJ!) which clearly contributes to clouds of diesel exhaust - generally a toxic mixture of gases, vapors, liquid aerosols, and solid particulate matter (soot) - hanging in the air between Eddystone and Philly? Nope. (No protesting there 'cause it may be a substantial contributor to county & PA taxes?) But what DO they really want?
