Hakeem Jeffries apparently told his animals that they should not heckle or scream during the SOTU, because it would make them look bad.

The degenerate Al Green was forcibly ejected from the Speech for his constant disruptions. He was also ejected from last year's speech.

I don't know why the two Muslim sows were permitted to stay.

But fifty Democrats boycotted the speech. Instead of attending, they staged various communist clown shows.

As WLT Report previously reported, nearly 50 Democrat lawmakers opted not to attend President Trump's State of the Union address.
Instead, many of them attended their counter State of the Union event.

The real target of the legal effort is obviously 2028. The DOJ's timeline won't be affected by Democrats taking either chamber of Congress.

Still, it's obvious that it's a serious effort because it started more then 4 weeks out from an election.

I had a neat llama experience this year. We took our son to one of those farms that does a corn maze, has food trucks, live music, and all of that sort of thing. They have a couple of barns where you can go look at the animals and sometimes interact with them. Not exactly a petting zoo, but similar. There is a llama pen.

I went to the llama pen and one of them looked at me, then approached. He let me pet his neck. Then he sort of nibbled at my cheek while I pet his neck. This went on for at least a couple of minutes, then he stepped away. It was nice.

Yep. Somehow right now the notion that the outcomes you see in the real world are partially determined by the politicians you vote for is somehow only a "rightwing" idea.

I've lived in blue areas for much of my life and I've been through many, many moments like you describe and I just cannot get through to these people and they aren't stupid. Their mind set is there are good people and bad people and if you vote for the good people only good things can happen baring "bad luck". And how do you know who the good people are? Well the FNM, or some leftist pundit, or some NGO tells you and at that point you don't think about it any more.

Obama was pure turnout. Republicans were depressed and didn't turnout. Democrats were enthused and turned out.

Reagan 1988 was more of a political realignment that can happen every couple of generations or so. The radicalism of the Democrats in the late 60s metastasized in the Democrat Party for years, the GOP eventually found out how to fight with Reagan, and it changed a lot of minds.

Actually you don't. See talking filibuster. Basically since the 1790's, the US Senate has a rule that no senator can rise and speak on a matter before it more than twice. Each senator can speak as long as they like but once they sit, they yield the floor to another. Once they have spoken twice, then they can no longer speak on the matter. Once all senators have spoken (or not if that is their wish), then debate automatically ends.

Estimates are that it will tie up the floor for at least 4-6 weeks with NO other business being allowed on the senate floor, nominations, etc.

Does not change the rules by nuclear option nor eliminates the 60 vote phoney filibuster but simply requires waiting out the necessary blather.

The problem for Senate GOP types, it that it removes the pseudo crap we can't do anything filibuster and makes it more into a committment issue on specific legislation. Ditto for the Dems but they plan on axing the filibuster next time in power anyway.

Nuclear option is when the majority changes the rules by making a point of order, chair denies the point, and then an appeal of the chair's ruling allows the majority to change it. Normal rule changes are in the rules of the Senate itself requiring 67 votes. The Senate used this to create current Rule 22 aka the fake 60 vote filibuster.

So you can either use the old school talking filibuster (used in 1917 after the Armed Ships Filibuster to create cloture rule in the first place by the talking filibuster) or the fake and gay filibuster that doesn't require talking but allows other senate business to go on.

We used to be able to in the past by the really crazy ones being locked up, most of the others denied any kind of access to power or even employment, and a strong patriarchal society that kept women from acting on their stupider impulses. No system is perfect, there always are awful things happening and side effects, if not straight drawbacks. But some were better overall to society and function of civilization than others.

Its like how capitalism is a lousy system, but less lousy than all the others. Its got its serious problems but does produce civilization, wealth, health, longevity, and comfort to the greatest portion of the population.

Shane, not really an enforcing issue--the default in the US Senate is actually unlimited debate. But to get anything done, debate is limited by either unanimous consent requiring party leaders to agree on debating time, some sort of rule like reconciliation that applies to special circumstances that only require a majority vote, the actual filibuster where a senator cannot rise to speak more than twice, or the phoney one. Senate's rules are arcane and very old. House, on the other hand votes for new rules packages every Congress (two years).

The "camera operator" is told to by the director. No camera operator does that on his/her own. The director calls the shots by looking at multiple monitors, one for each camera. He/she then directs the technical director to switch to that shot. There is usually one or two cameras dedicated to wide shots as well.
