It Begins: Canada Now Murdering People For Minor Ailments, Just As Predicted

The left rails about insurance companies not covering certain drugs or treatments because they're too expensive.

But when the state literally murders people as a way of keeping down government health costs, they applaud.

Distraught family blasts Canada for euthanizing son, 26, who suffered from 'seasonal depression'

By KELLY GARINO, US REPORTER

A family has accused Canada's laws of 'killing the disabled and vulnerable' months after their son, who suffered from seasonal depression, died by assisted suicide.

Kiano Vafaeian, a 26-year-old blind man with Type 1 diabetes, died in December using Canada's Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) program, which allows patients with 'grievous and irremediable' medical conditions to request a lethal drug.

So he was blind and suffered from Type I diabetes, which I understand is quite treatable with injections. (Let me know if I'm wrong.)

So Canada deemed these maladies "grievous and irremediable" and performed yet another Doctor-Directed Murder.

Eligibility was expanded in 2021 to include people with chronic illnesses, disabilities and, pending parliamentary review, potentially individuals with certain mental health conditions.

Vafaeian faced mental health struggles stemming from a car accident at 17, and according to his mother, his depression often flared during the winter months.

For years, the family had successfully prevented their son from using the program. Last year, however, Dr Ellen Wiebe, a MAID provider in British Columbia, approved Vafaeian's death - news the family only learned about days later.

Vafaeian's mother, Margaret Marsilla of Ontario, alleged that Wiebe was 'coaching' her son on how to qualify as a Track 2 patient - those whose natural deaths aren't deemed 'reasonably imminent,' according to Fox News Digital.

'We believe that she was coaching him on how to deteriorate his body and what she can possibly approve him for and what she can get away with approving him for,' Marsilla told the outlet.

'''

...

Vafaeian's death certificate now lists the 'antecedent causes' of his assisted suicide as blindness, severe peripheral neuropathy - nerve damage outside the brain and spinal cord that causes pain and numbness - and diabetes.

But his parents said his medical records did not back up the claim that 'severe peripheral neuropathy' was a qualifying factor for his assisted suicide.

'Realistically, safeguards for patients would be reaching out to their family members, giving them a whole bunch of different treatment options,' Marsilla told Fox.

She argued that doctors can approve and carry out euthanasia on Track 2 patients in just 90 days under the current system.

'How is that safe for patients?' she added.

Read the whole thing. Dr. Death is proud and cracks jokes about her murders:

In an interview with the Free Press, Wiebe joked that she had brought more than 1,000 babies into the world while also helping 'more than 500 patients die.'

She also described assisted suicide as 'the best work I've ever done.'

'I have a very strong, passionate desire for human rights,' Wiebe explained. 'I'm willing to take risks for human rights as I do for abortion.'

Canada is a world leader in killing the sad:

Canada has one of the highest rates of medically assisted deaths in the world, 5.1 percent, or a total of 16,499 deaths in 2024.

Obviously the same people who approve of child genital mutilations and consider abortion a religious sacrament will also support murdering the sick and sad.

Pardon the quickie blogging. I have a routine yearly doctor's appointment at a distant office and need to quickly write posts in advance to cover the time.

This exactly - Canada and socialized medicine will love to kill the chronically diseased, which many depression cases fall into, b/c they are the most expensive, long term, to the system. And if you're young and chronic, they want to rush you off b/c you could be decades of care...

44 Canada May Start Euthanizing Babies. The Quebec College of Physicians recently told the British newspaper Daily Mail that it believes “medical assistance in dying may be an appropriate treatment for babies suffering from extreme pain” and that “parents should have the opportunity to obtain this care for their infant,”

The statement revives a debate that first erupted in 2022 when Louis Roy of the Quebec College of Physicians appeared before Parliament’s Special Joint Committee on Medical Assistance in Dying. Roy suggested the program could be considered for “babies from birth to one year of age” who are born with severe deformities or disabilities, Farrow reported.

In 2024 alone, there were 16,499 reported euthanasia deaths, bringing the total to 76,475 by year’s end, according to government data cited by Alex Schadenberg, executive director of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition. By early 2026, Schadenberg estimated at least 94,000 deaths since legalization.

Posted by: Rev. Wishbone at February 18, 2026 03:47 PM (gVUi7)

90 I saw some comments above on Organ Donation. And, IMO, that's the primary motivation for the MAID program, only they screwed up. Only Nova Scotia has "Opt Out" organ donation. All the other provinces require you to sign up for Organ Donation. That's not to say that MAID participants aren't coerced into signing up before getting the needle. As of 2022, Canada was #1 in the world for organ donors orignating from an Euthanasia program.

BTW, the United Kingdom made all residents "OPT OUT" without debate or legislation about a year and a half ago. This year, they approved Euthanasia in that country. They didn't screw up. Look for the UK to overtake Canada as #1 on organ donation from a Euthanasia program shortly. Interestingly, China still considers Euthanasia illegal...at least outside of their concentration work camps.

148 Protecting yourself and your family begins with picking up His book. It’s not a story, it’s an instruction manual. Like every other human endeavor, you will fail in something. Some of us, more than others. Do not be dissuaded. Why do O say that? Because He told us.

Aim for the narrow gate.

He is with you, always. Even when you don’t believe He is there. Even in your worst moments when you ask, where is He in all of this?

I have love through a lot. I used to say, “I should have died many times”. But then I realized it was all part of his plan for me to live.

Live your life. Endeavor to follow his ways. Admit your failings. Ask for forgiveness. Always remember she will not abandon you.

You will live a better, more fruitful and happy life.

163 so for a contrast to this depressing thread. From Military times:

The Department of Veterans Affairs has ended a practice that prevented veterans who can’t manage their finances from owning guns, a change officials say will restore constitutional rights to nearly 200,000 former service members.

The VA announced Tuesday it will immediately stop reporting veterans to the FBI’s national background check database if they need a fiduciary to help manage their benefits.

Proponents of the decades-old policy have said it protects veterans with mental impairments by limiting access to a lethal means of suicide. But major veteran advocacy groups and gun rights organizations have long argued the notifications weren’t based on thorough mental assessments and actually prevented veterans from seeking help for fear of losing their 2nd Amendment rights.

I'll turn 46 later this year.

With today's medicine and technology as far as CGMS systems and insulin pumps, combined with our better understanding of how the endocrine system works - its easier now to live as a Type 1 than it ever has been. Yes there are rough days, but there are many, many more good ones where I give thanks to God that I live in the day and age that I do. If I had been born even 20 yeas prior - I'd probably be looking at a life span of 50 years or less. Now, I'll be kicking well past my sell-by date.

The fact that this man was blind was probably a side effect of Type 1. I've had 6 eye surgeries/laser treatments to treat my diabetic retinopathy.

I'm going to put money on the table and bet that as a Canadian, this poor guy didn't have access ot the medicine, technology and healthcare facilities I did.

173 It’s not suicide when you kill someone or help them end their life. Especially if you help to convince them that suicide is the answer.

I have lost too many friends to suicide. It is the epitome of hopelessness. It is a dead end and final act of desperation. It is a failed attempt at giving people hope, of convincing them there is a life worth living. But it’s ultimately their choice, not yours.

Evil wears many faces. One of them is the disguise of compassion.

He took one look at an "OCT" scan of my eyeball and said "wait here". Got the Ophthalmologist from down the hall who was between patients. Said "you have diabetic retinopathy and not an insignificant case." I had been wondering what the floaters in my vision were all about. Anyways, the next DAY I was in the chair, getting PRP Argon Laser treatments which hurt like f*** but they saved my eyes. Later I got a vitrectomy. Again, sucked but I have eyesight.

Posted by: tubal at February 18, 2026 04:11 PM (pDt9x)

Of course, it's gut wrenching. It's why none of us kids decided to convince my dad to keep going. But letting God decide the time gave us weeks to see him and all say goodbye and let go. And him sticking around let him see pics of his 1st grandkid, born 5 weeks early on Dec 8, the Immaculate Conception, and he died 3 days before her original due date, 1 month after her birth, which meant I could travel with her to the funeral (and she was the 1st great grandkid, too).

God's will had to play a part in that timing...

You dont have to use extraordinary means to sustain life if you have a problem like that. But i dont think getting hit on the head so they can throw you onto the cart is a good solution. Whether you ask someone to do it, or someone else does it to you. You can get pain killers and anxiolytics if you need them. Ultimately it is usually a neurotic control issue. You lost control over your life, and you want to reassert while you can. However one's sense of control while well is an illusion anyway. That lesson is hard learned, and harder unlearned.

So, I just went to verify that D is over the counter in Canada (assumed it was, but never assume about Canada) and got this AI response:

“Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is a crucial supplement for Canadians, especially from October to March due to limited sun exposure, aiding in immune function and bone health. Health Canada recommends daily supplementation for most, particularly during winter, with popular brands including Jamieson, Webber Naturals, and Kirkland Signature.”

So you can self-medicate with Jamieson or Jameson. Or the truly healing power of “and”.

320 Getting sick of Shit weather and cold isn't a Disorder. It's normal life.

There are times, and this is one, when I really wish Dr. Thomas Szasz hadn’t gone quite so far off the deep end on the non-existence of psychological disorders. Because he made some very good points about exactly this back when it could have been more easily fought.

Unable or unwilling to bear the inexorable tragedies of the human condition, people now seek solace in the utopian claims of psychiatry concerning the causes and cures of everything “bad” the human heart is heir to.—Thomas Szasz, Omni, March, 1980.

Investigators found the forced birth control continued into the '90s.

Norway officially stopped their sterilization of the Saami in 1977, which was a very big deal because the government had a eugenics policy against them since the '40s or so.

I like to throw that in the face of the Danes and the Norwegians who try the "you mistreated the Native Americans in the 1900s" crap.

Yes, the CGM and closed-loop insulin pump makes a huge difference in quality of life. Sometimes though, she has to go old school with the finger-prick and syringe when there are shortages of the advanced electronics, but it's merely inconvenient, not EOL-worthy.
