When you try to build the cursor properly, you'll find that you need half of a 45 degree angle, or 22.5, but since you can't do that, I think they picked the 26.6 angle as closest. Long story short, it's a compromise brought about by the limited number of angles you can actually construct on a pixel grid! If you were to place the tip on the same line as the 26.6 degree stem, the stem would not be midway between the lower corners of the arrowhead, it would be closer to the right side. Thus, it seems that it was shifted left to make that area more symmetrical because that error was less obvious.Source: davepl1968 on X Club ONT Department of Data ![]() The Club ONT Jukebox Keeping it eclectic! In the parochial schools, when there was a scheduled worship event, the Sisters would line everybody up for the march to church. The inspection would ensue - boys needed ties and girls needed head cover. There were usually bowties and such from the lost and found for the boys, but if a girl didn't have a veil or scarf, Sister would pull out folded lavatory paper and fasten it to their hair with hair pins.

Leave the happy clappy crap to the Protestants.
I don’t go to Mass to be entertained. Posted by: nurse ratched ---------- I hadn't been to church for a very long time, when a friend suggested we go one Sunday, to some non-denominational place. OK... There was a guy who gave a nice 'talk' but it wasn't a sermon. And then, people got up there with instruments and began to play-- they had a big screen behind them with lyrics for the sing-along. And then the "priest" came out and talked (again, not a sermon and no mention of scripture) and there was happy clappy time. Ugh! I can only imagine what Payson looks like now, it was a one stoplight town in those days.
Now up to 7 or 8 stoplights. Wendy's moved closer to the southern edge of town, there's a Filthiberto's in their old spot. Southernmost Circle K was redone a few years ago, it's much bigger now. Sawmill closed down decades ago, there's now a strip mall with a movie theater in it's place. Oh, and I'm here, so you know the town has definitely entered a state of decline. I'm blessed that the church I go to teaches the Bible expository teaching.
"Expository teaching is a method that interprets and explains a specific Bible passage in its original context to uncover the author's intended meaning, subsequently applying that truth to modern life. It emphasizes verse-by-verse or passage-by-passage study, allowing Scripture to dictate the message content rather than the preacher's opinions. " Did a search for a quick definition of it. Posted by: no one of any consequence -------- From 'Barchester Towers' gonna take a couple of posts: There is, perhaps, no greater hardship at present inflicted on mankind in civilized and free countries than the necessity of listening to sermons. No one but a preaching clergyman has, in these realms, the power of compelling an audience to sit silent and be tormented. No one but a preaching clergyman can revel in platitudes, truisms, and untruisms, and yet receive, as his undisputed privilege, the same respectful demeanour as though words of impassioned eloquence, or persuasive logic, fell from his lips. Let a professor of law or physics find his place in a lecture-room, and there pour forth jejune words and useless empty phrases, and he will pour them forth to empty benches. Let a barrister attempt to talk without talking well, and he will talk but seldom. A judge's charge need be listened to perforce by none but the jury, prisoner, and gaoler. A member of Parliament can be coughed down or counted out. Town-councillors can be tabooed. But no one can rid himself of the preaching clergyman. (cont.) cannot shake off, the nightmare that disturbs our Sunday's rest, the incubus that overloads our religion and makes God's service distasteful. We are not forced into church! No: but we desire more than that. We desire not to be forced to stay away. We desire, nay, we are resolute, to enjoy the comfort of public worship, but we desire also that we may do so without an amount of tedium which ordinary human nature cannot endure with patience; that we may be able to leave the house of God without that anxious longing for escape which is the common consequence of common sermons.

Mutter, mutter, discontent. I ordered a new mainspring for my little H&R pocket hammerless .32, and it came a few days ago. Finally got around to trying to fit it, and no dice, new spring may be as much as a half-inch too long. Vendor did not return my original (weak) spring sent as a sample, so I do not have even that possibly imperfect guide to cut down the new spring. Which of course makes it unreturnable. I sent an e-mail; will wait and see.

(Have migrated all the important stuff over to cell number now, and landline will be cut off in a couple of weeks at the end of billing cycle.)
Scrolling through caller ID, and see 2 calls from "Phoenix Patient" with same *480* number. Uh-oh. Suppose it's BIL? He did live in Phoenix Metro for many years. He was in Cali, last I heard from State Police. He has abandoned his trailer, vehicle, and cell phone, as far as I know. So he wouldn't have my cell # anymore, but hubby's name is listed for landline. If that number calls again while I'm home, I will answer. Not looking forward to this... It's The Fillmo.
When I lived in the TL, surprisingly not much human scat - lotta dog scat and the occasional dead/dying human. That said, I stayed outta the areas where there were a lot of humans sleeping on the streets, like GG ave east of Leavenworth (and on Leavenworth). Hyde between Eddy and Civic Center wasn't too bad b/c 3 lanes going south to the freeway and fairly well lit. Leavenworth, one block east, going north, gettin' scary, and farther east and north, yikes. One thing the Honduran drug dealers did was keep their turf quiet. They didn't want trouble so if you were worried about safety, walk where they were. Once you made it clear you didn't need anything, they ignored you. I only know about those two courses from a discussion at the canteen in the local VFW. There's a bunch of golfers here. I guess it keeps the geezers off the streets and out of trouble. The number of golf courses here always amazes me, given the water situation in AZ. The PGA should work with artificial turf manufacturers to produce fairway and rough products, leave the greens real. Otherwise, I give it 20 years and there will be no public courses left in AZ because of water lack. When they start rationing water to households, the great unwashed will be at the golf courses.with pitchforks and torches. Posted by: buddhaha at February 22, 2026 01:50 AM (2lBM+) 366

I started *migrating* a year ago, but hubby has so many doctors and clinics and then there's the insurance stuff and then my stuff.. ugh. Lately, the spoofs have mostly been from unused numbers: only a city shows as a "name" and they've been in-state area codes. The rest are fake medical crap. So I'm wary. But! Most cell phones have a way to.assign one ringtone to numbers in your contact list, and another ringtone for everyone else. Leave the "else" calls go to VM. most spam/scam ers won't leave a message. Real.calls will, giving you a callback number.
Posted by: buddhaha at February 22, 2026 02:11 AM (2lBM+) 374
Exactly right, Miklos. I only kept the landline long enough to be *absolutely certain* that all our important contacts have my cell #. That is done, and I've already placed the cancellation order for landline. Figured to just let it go to the end of billing period & that's done.
THEN comes the call from (possibly) BIL. Figures. No doubt that he qualifies for every low-income assistance program that exists-- he's deaf and I now suspect some mental issues. He needs to stay where he is, wherever he is, because "social services" in my state are lacking at best. Posted by: JQ at February 22, 2026 02:13 AM (rdVOm) 375

I keep my landline for emergency use and a bit of nostalgia - I spent 35 years in telecom. The emergency scenario works better with landlines. Cell towers get overwhelmed quickly in broad emergencies, without even counting the fact that fire, police, military, and every self important bureaucrat has their cell number programmed as priority. If the system is full, when one of those phones comes up, somebody gets bumped off.

Van Halen - (Oh) Pretty Woman https://youtu.be/FWQRDI7mTyw What happened was that I saw the music video some months ago, and it was just so weird that it was kind of off-putting, so I didn't save it. But it was also unique enough to stick in my memory, so then I tried to find it again, but my descriptions were not good enough and kept pulling up everything else but it. Basically, a hunchback calls together Napoleon, a cowboy, Tarzan, and a samurai to save a drag queen from dwarves. (No, I don't get it either.) And the crazy thing is that it wasn't even the weirdest music video that year, since Golden Earring's "Twilight Zone" is also from 1982. Enjoy! There are a few things drilled into your head, numerically-
Home Phone number Military (starts with letters though, may not strictly count) SSN DOB? Why do I even have to know this? Oh yeah I'm 18 (then) sure i'm 21 (now) Posted by: Underage Miklos at February 22, 2026 03:44 AM (8i9Vv) 418
Nooo nooo. I don't ride dudes on bikes. The harley gods are not amused at that. Not to mention its gay, but feel free to take out one of my spares if you know how to ride.

She hasn't ridden in a few years. She was a good rider, so I think she'll be fine. No way would she ride anybody though. Besides, a dude getting on the back of a harley with a chick driving is begging for a personal visit from Odin to personally dispose of your man card in most unpleasant ways. lol Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division at February 22, 2026 03:44 AM (snZF9) 419

Got to have so many numbers and passwords these days. I'm old now, have to write them down. Life gets complicated but it beats the alternative.

If you're going to ride in a side car you definitely need a Pickelhaube helmet. Posted by: Hell's Miklos at February 22, 2026 04:11 AM (8i9Vv) I say that because a few years ago we had an old sidecar bike at the shop. I had ran out for something, and meanwhile one of our friends shows up, actually the dude I got my house from, and he wants to go in the side car. The shop dude says yeah ok, and they head out, and wtf is the passenger wearing? A black spiked novelty helmet that we got hanging around in the shop. Now I didn't know any of this. I came down the street almost at the shop and see this side car bike tearing down the street with those 2 chuckleheads. I saw the big epic beard on the driver and the spiked helmet on the passenger and I knew right away. I'm sure alcohol was involved. lol Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division at February 22, 2026 04:20 AM (snZF9) 434

One of the funeral homes had a wicked black trike that they would tow a replica of the abe lincoln hearse car thing. The one with the glass sides. We worked on the trike for them. It was cool, it had the old coach lights on it and was done really nice. Well, we have a skeleton dressed as an undertaker hanging in the back, its a halloween thing. It had one of those abe lincoln hats. We sat him on the trike. It was hysterical. I got pictures of it. I texted it to a friend and said "customer wanted to wait for his bike, but we were a little backed up" lol Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division at February 22, 2026 04:25 AM (snZF9) 435
