A Resounding And Powerful Defense Of Liberal Democracy, Market Economies, And Unabashed Nationalism And Patriotism

It's difficult to overestimate the insidious destruction of our way of life over the last 100+ years. Beginning with the philandering progressive Woodrow Wilson's massive expansion of the administrative state, FDR's consolidation of government power in service to progressive ideals (also known as power!), and supported by the so-called conservatives of the Republican Party, we have been sliding into serfdom. Truman, Kennedy, Nixon, Carter, Bush x2, Clinton, Obama, and the drooling figurehead Biden have all contributed to the diminution of our rights as a free people.

But the worm turns, and the election and reelection of Donald Trump has given us the rare opportunity to repair some of the possibly existential damage to our republic.

And there is no better representative of the ideals on which our country was founded than Marco Rubio, a shining example of when the man and the moment meet.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the Munich Security Conference

That infamous wall that had cleaved this nation into two came down, and with it an evil empire, and the East and West became one again. But the euphoria of this triumph led us to a dangerous delusion: that we had entered, quote, “the end of history;” that every nation would now be a liberal democracy; that the ties formed by trade and by commerce alone would now replace nationhood; that the rules-based global order – an overused term – would now replace the national interest; and that we would now live in a world without borders where everyone became a citizen of the world.

This was a foolish idea that ignored both human nature and it ignored the lessons of over 5,000 years of recorded human history. And it has cost us dearly. In this delusion, we embraced a dogmatic vision of free and unfettered trade, even as some nations protected their economies and subsidized their companies to systematically undercut ours – shuttering our plants, resulting in large parts of our societies being deindustrialized, shipping millions of working and middle-class jobs overseas, and handing control of our critical supply chains to both adversaries and rivals.

We increasingly outsourced our sovereignty to international institutions while many nations invested in massive welfare states at the cost of maintaining the ability to defend themselves. This, even as other countries have invested in the most rapid military buildup in all of human history and have not hesitated to use hard power to pursue their own interests. To appease a climate cult, we have imposed energy policies on ourselves that are impoverishing our people, even as our competitors exploit oil and coal and natural gas and anything else – not just to power their economies, but to use as leverage against our own.

And in a pursuit of a world without borders, we opened our doors to an unprecedented wave of mass migration that threatens the cohesion of our societies, the continuity of our culture, and the future of our people. We made these mistakes together, and now, together, we owe it to our people to face those facts and to move forward, to rebuild.

Marco Rubio has identified the issues with clarity and, more importantly, with a profound understanding of how corrosive the progressive movement has been. More impressively (if that is possible) he has welcomed all who believe in the power of limited government, fair markets, and love of country to join us in our efforts to roll back the evil of communitarian societies, and top-down control of our lives and livelihood.

He is already one of our best Secretaries of State, and with this declaration he has the opportunity to be a great one!

I subscribe to the fairly conventional opinion that as vampires and zombies are metaphors for sexual deviants and socialists, respectively. They literally depict a nigh-alien subspecies with unnatural reproduction, so that is what they are natural metaphors for: the former reproducing by molestation trauma, and the latter reproducing by spreading their mind virus through mere contact.

Lysenkoism was a thing for a reason. It was a very very very early 1900s thing when the technocrats really started going. People could be modified. Some races are better than others. God is dead, so we are the Masters now. Let's throw all the poor people into our planned cities. We need to weed out the genetic defectives. Let's sterilize people. etc etc etc.

What's fascinating is that the Soviets took all (or a lot) of these early 20th century ideas and tried to implement them. TONS of planned cities and economies. Almost all abject failures. So much of it even beyond the purges and just outright death, the policies led to depression and alcoholism.

I don't think leftists even have beliefs. I think they only have two pseudo-moral principles, Power & Clique, and then all of their rhetoric after that is Say Anything power-mongering. What you call delusions, I see as fallacies that con artists find useful in their scam patter, not actual fixed beliefs.

It's like the question, "How does your dog or cat think of you?" They don't. They don't think. They have feelings, produced by the interaction of instincts and experiences. You may provoke instinctive reactions similar to those provoked by their mamas, but they don't think, "Oh, it's my mom!" And leftists don't "think" that everyone is the same, it's just hypnobabble for their grift.

Both AOC and Whitmer. They both wanted a spot in front of the bright lights and both crashed and burned spectacularly making it very clear they are media creations with zero substance. How do you go to a national security conference and not have a clue about Taiwan or pretty much anything else related to national security?

39 Tbe only 'massive expansion' during the Wilson Administration was consequent to the general mobilization for the 1st World War. Demobilization had been completed by the time Warren Harding took office in March of 1921. There was a knock-on economic recession, but that was over before the end of 1921.
==
You did see some new federal agencies created during the Wilson years which had a durable existence: the Federal Reserve, the Federal Trade Commission, the Bureau of Public Roads, and the ancestor of the Farm Credit System. There were some issues with these institutions. The creation of the Federal Reserve was controversial with most Republicans in Congress voting 'no'. The creation of the Federal Trade Commission was not. The Republican congresses had ten years (1921-31) to dismantle these agencies but did not.

Huh. I think an interesting question is do dogs have a thought process?

I remember I could see when Ajax was thinking. He'd always want to be petted while I was on the toilet. And rather than slam the door in his face I'd say 'Find your ball!' He'd look at me a min and you could see the wheels turning. Then he'd check the bathroom and if he did not find it, he'd start systematically checking the apartment. He'd either find it or it would be out of reach and he would start whining.

And everyone is seeing it. They aren't supermen, they are some of the dumbest and most corrupt people on the planet.

Why do you think the left is freaking out about ICE? They don't love illegals, they love their votes and their ability to act as foils for their corruption which is now being exposed daily.

They, as they like to say, are on the wrong side of history and while of these obtuse are waking up to the fact that their policies are enormously unpopular the far left commies still have all the momentum in the party. Has anyone looked at the fundraising comparisons between the Democrats and Republicans for the midterms? Democrats are in full red alert mode because USAID and Act Blue and other means of cheating are being taken down.

81 It is interesting that there are two distinct problems with socialism.

The practical problem is every socialist state turns more and more authoritarian in practice. Whatever the leaders promise you get, at beast, something like East Germany.

The theoretical problem though is that even if you could get the sort of "real socialism" which the left always promises society would collapse. Why would I work if I am getting a mere one eighth billionth of my work since "to each according to his need?" Most people don't want to do most jobs that produce the goods and services they actually want.

84 Most first graders in Vienna don't speak German, for example. Half of the school kids in Brussels are Muslim.

The last time I was in Europe I noticed almost all of the women pushing baby carriages were either in a hijab or clearly southeastern European - not many French, German, etc ones with kids.

Now the funny part is you could see the native Euro women - often wearing shorts shorts as they jogged/biked around. It was quite a dichotomy of them versus even the (I assume) Orthodox Christian women from the Balkans.

The Big Beautiful Bill provided... (looks it up)... $75 billion for ICE and $65 billion for CBP, so immigration enforcement will proceed apace. Otherwise, in FEMA, TSA, and the Coast Guard, essential workers will continue without pay, while non-essential (or at least non-urgent) functions like training will be suspended. It's not a big deal to anyone but the households of those specific employees affected.

And, those employees probably mostly belong to the Democrat party that is responsible for the shutdown, so I see their financial troubles as an internal dispute that Democrats need to resolve amongst themselves. Not my circus, not my monkeys.

Mark Steyn's clue that something was going on was that he was talking to a friend at a cafe in central Vienna about 2000.

There was a maternity clinic across the street, and every woman going into the maternity clinic was Muslim.

Steyn subsequently got into legal trouble because an iman in Norway told Muslims to breed "like cockroaches", and Steyn committed the offense of accurately quoting the iman.

103 I think the socialists are not power mad accidently, I think they are always 'What would happen if?'

Indeed. Here is the sort of discussion I've had many, many times with anarcho-socialists...

Ok, suppose you get your dream anarchist society. There are no corporations and "the people" control everything. Who decides what you'll make in your factories?

Well there will be a council of experts.

Ok, and if workers disagree with the council and don't want to work what will happen?

Oh they'll have to do it. Because the people will have decided.

But let's same some don't care what "the people" want...how will you handle it?

In that case we will put together a group that will remind the workers of their responsibilities and if necessary re-educate them to make sure they don't have any wrong ideas.

So then in your "anarchist" society there is a government, police force, and a prison system?

No no nothing like that! Just experts making sure society does the right things!

I get angry a lot when I hear Democrats lie, but I'm not sure I've ever been angrier than over the above video clip.

No one in the history of the USA has purposely caused more hateful division in America than Barack Obama.

For Frankfurt School Marxists, hate and division is THE necessary element of power.

A true Frankfurt School disciple, Obama's singular purpose was to create hate and division along demographic lines.

Racism was on life support when Obama took office. He gave it life once again, deliberately.

Virtually all of the hate and division we experience in the USA today is directly attributable to Barack Obama.

Other than Woodrow Wilson, Obama is the most objectively evil man ever to sit in the Oval Office.

Shut up Obama. Everything you are bemoaning was created by YOU, you lying narcissistic Marxist filth.

I suspect that if you were to implement one that fully modeled the information problem socialism has but gave you the option to instead let autonomous groups of individuals make decisions about what to produce and how much you'd find that everyone ended up going capitalist.

156 Sure, the left has changed and seen the light.

In Munich, Democrats pledge a return to wealth taxes and climate hysteria
Both Newsom and Ocasio-Cortez spoke of returning the U.S. to the good graces of the global elite. Newsom assured the Europeans that Trump’s reign is temporary, and that the U.S. will soon enough dismantle the “wrecking ball” that the administration has taken to the EU...
Newsom offered his leadership and his state as the model, proclaiming that “California is a stable and reliable partner” for Europe. The model includes high taxes, massive spending programs and greater bureaucratic regulations — precisely the policies that have driven the European economy into its current stagnation...When not fumbling with security questions about issues such as Taiwan, Ocasio-Cortez was demanding that wealth taxes be implemented in the U.S. “expeditiously.” Such a tax on billionaires’ wealth, including unrealized gains, is currently being pushed in California. The predictable result is that billionaires and other wealthy citizens are rushing to leave the state and taking their investments and companies with them.

This is sort of a tautology, most people believe they are "good-ish" though the left's morality is extremely flexible.

But I do disagree though that the implications here are different for the left and the right. The right wants to take power away from the left and the left wants to take power from the right, yes that's true. But then the left wants to forcibly remake society into some nominal socialist idea and the right wants to make politics largely unimportant again. Think the Soviet Union (but the right people will be in charge this time!) versus 1880s America.

Starmer and his cabinet have been deep in the "grooming gang" scandal for 20+ years. The Pakistani grooming gangs have been kidnapping, raping and trafficking girls for longer than that, and violating various trade and importation tax laws, as well as being involved with money laundering on such a high value that the banks are involved. Funds from these gangs are traced to Osama bin Laden, and other terrorist groups, making the UK a state sponsor of terrorism.

The kidnapping, rape, torture and trafficking of young girls is bad enough, even with the direct help of authorities, but the UK has become a true anti-state.

210 One other point, if someone is incorrectly deported they haven't "disappeared" - they'd present themselves to the nearest US embassy and after getting home almost certainly sue the government for a ton of money.

211 I'll ruffle some feathers.

I want them all gone. I even want the innocent little children gone. Know why? Because hundreds of those little children are in my local grammar school--the only school we have, no high school--and they make up nearly 80% of the student population. I live in a beach town and many of the homes are rented for tens of thousands of dollars in the summe,r and the winter rentals, from September to May, are frequently less than $1,500/month. So, they all come here. Where they go in the summer, I don't know. Nor do I care.

The American kids in my town pretty much all go to the local Catholic school, which goes from K-12. My school taxes are through the roof, and half the classes in the public grammar school are either English as a Second Language, or full-on taught in Spanish.

More than half of my property taxes go to the school, so they can educate the children of illegals. In a foreign language no less.

Don't mind me, I'm in a bad mood today.

Yeah, the theory is that a Democratic Administration can let in more than ten million illegals, claiming that they are "asylum seekers" that have been given "parole", with an immigration court hearing five years from now; and that a Republican Administration can do almost nothing to reverse that, due to requiring criminal prosecution-levels of "due process" for all illegals.

This is a recipe for the destruction of the United States, which is why I oppose it.

Doesn't mean you're wrong. I don't how we got to a place where this is even controversial. Try sneaking into Mexico and see what happens.

We simply can't have a country without strong borders and immigration laws. Sure, millions around the world want to come here and if you spend some time traveling the reason becomes obvious. But we simply can't afford to let people just pour in here without rules, either financially or culturally.

Follow the rules, come here legally or get out.

230 Ok, so you live in a mid-level suburban neighborhood in a mid-level house. Because of the slope of the lot it has a walk out basement with a sliding glass door.
You have to be out of town for three weeks and forget to lock the sliding glass door. A Hispanic family of five discovers the unlocked door and occupy your basement.
They're very industrious. The carpet gets cleaned. The drywall is repaired. They even paint and the dripping faucet in the basement bath gets fixed.
You come home and to your horror discover what has happened and call the local authorities.
Before they arrive the woman in the group pleads with you on her knees:
"You can't throw us out! WE'VE WORKED SO HARD!"

You make the call.

IrishEI, have you been following the case of the Honduran future MBA who got herself kicked out when she flew to Texas for a family visit over Thanksgiving? She's blaming her fate on lousy legal advice ("No one ever told me I had to report to a court") and some judge just decided she's a fine young lady and the US has to fly her back and give her... due process.

All emotion, greeting-card photos of her smiling and holding flowers and some sort of diploma, and the usual obligation on us to make her dreams come true.

NYC FALLS: Adhan Blasts Through Streets – Zohran Mamdani’s Sharia Dawn is Here!

(TURN YOUR VOLUME UP)

My lord, America – the conquest we’ve warned about is exploding now. The Adhan isn’t a “beautiful call to prayer”; it’s a militant declaration: “Allahu Akbar” (Allah is greater than your gods, laws, freedoms), “There is no god but Allah” (all other faiths are false).

Blared 5× daily from loudspeakers – 5 AM wake-ups included – it’s forced submission on non-Muslims, pure civilizational jihad straight from the Muslim Brotherhood playbook.

THIS IS NOT NORMAL – but they’re aggressively normalizing it.

239 Voluntary deportation is the main way to remove a large invasive body of illegals. No benefits, no jobs, no hope that remaining here will get amnesty, increasing risk that anytime an illegal gets picked up they end up in detention unable to earn a buck nor do much of anything, etc. etc.

Eliminating parole goes a long way as now the illegals cannot get out on bond and disappear, they are detained until a hearing. That means no income, no remittances, no bennies other than you get in jail, etc. etc.

Roughly half of the illegal population came during the last ten years and they can go back about as easy---several million per year or so. It is a myth that these are integrated into the US and their distribution is pretty lumpy with urban/suburban destinations. The rural illegals are generally located around food processing or other plants that have high turnover and pay low wages.

Due process is entirely another kettle of fish and many, like the Irish dude overstaying his visa (about 1/3 to 1/2 of illegals) have specific statutory language that do not permit these illegals from challenging their deportation in court. Visa language for most explicitly don't allow it.

I have seen videos of people in Scotland who have been playing bagpipes during the call to prayer there. A small act of rebellion.

That said, at 5am, or whenever the sun is coming up in one's area of the country, I do NOT want to hear dueling musicals from Muslims and other people outside.

There should be noise ordinances preventing the call to prayer. If there are not, then cities all across the country should be pushing to pass them.

Better yet, Muslims should all be deported, since Islam is incompatible with western society. But I'm not holding my breath that will happen in my lifetime. More than likely Muslims will take over just like they have Europe.

Posted by: JackStraw at February 15, 2026 12:41 PM

I would not call what is going on "winning". After having lost the culture war and the Long March Through the Institutions for the past two to three generations and the last 3-4 decades, conservatives are finally fighting back.

It's like losing in a football game 35-0 and scoring a TD to make it 35-7 and going "we're winning!"

No, we're finally working to take back our country that has been lost for the past 25+ years to the Marxist left.

We are making slow progress, but we are not "winning". The culture has long been lost and the Marxist left still controls the vast majority of the institutions in the country. Going to take decades and generations of this progress before we can claim we are winning again.

Recall everyone claimed every day we were "winning" during the first Trump Administration. And then we all know what happened from March 2020 through January 2025.

We went through this with Nikki Haley. We go through it every time someone gives a good speech. Then all of us a sudden that person is fit to be President.

As you mention, Rubio, when on his own, was unremarkable. And pushed amnesty on this country.

Now that he is taking orders from President Trump, amazingly he saying and doing what President Trump tells him to do. That tells me that Marco Rubio is good at following orders. It tells me nothing about how Marco Rubio would be on his own as the one giving the orders in the future.

Not to mention, Senators make poor Presidents. Marco Rubio should prove himself worthy of the Presidency by running for Governor of Florida. If he does well there, then he can run for President again.
