Update in Nancy Guthrie Kidnapping Case: Black Gloves Found, Video Shows Man in a Mask Attempting to Scale Wall

Two days ago, the FBI released images found in the memory of Nancy Guthrie's ring doorbell.

She had gone missing from her house on January 31st, and then later a ransom note was sent to Savannah Guthrie.

The FBI on Tuesday released a series of surveillance photos recovered from the home of missing Arizona woman Nancy Guthrie. FBI Director Kash Patel described the masked individual pictured as armed and said the subject appears to have tampered with the camera.
"Working with our partners - as of this morning, law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie's front door the morning of her disappearance," Patel wrote on social media.

Yesterday, the FBI picked up a person-of-interest wanted for questioning. Note that person of interest doesn't mean you're a suspect, just that they want to talk to you -- like, your car was spotted in the area at the time of the crime, and they want to know if you saw anything.

That man was questioned and released and the FBI said he had nothing to do with the kidnapping.

Fine, this is what happens in cases -- you pursue people for questioning, and sometimes you find out that what they know is what you know -- dick.

I mention this only because the second-most repellent Democrat Senator, and it's a hell of a competition to make the top five, Chris Murphy attacked Kash Patel for having dared to question a man whose car was in the area.

Should the FBI just stop pursuing leads, Chrissie? Tell you what, you tell Savannah Guthrie the FBI is going to take a wait-and-see attitude about her kidnapped mother and let us know if she agrees that's the prudent course of action.

Is the problem that the man was Hispanic? I want the Democrats to be clear: Which races, precisely, are immune from being suspected in crimes and being prosecuted for them? Which races have complete immunity to criminal law?

Stop hinting around the edges, Chrissie. Tell us which races are now officially so superior that cops are simply not allowed to ask them a single question.

They found new video of a man attempting unsuccessfully to scale a wall in the vicinity. No word yet from Chris Murphy if they should let this lead sit without investigation, because it might turn out to be a completely different guy.

They also found a single black glove similar to the ones the abductor is seen wearing. They're planning on testing it for DNA, but they should check with Chris Murphy. After all, it might be a glove belonging to an innocent person. Wouldn't want to waste resources on a DNA collection that goes nowhere!

Newly released footage showed a man trying to scale a wall in Tucson while wearing a similar backpack to the one Nancy Guthrie's captor was seen with.
An unidentified bald man donning a gray zip-down jacket and blue jeans was seen taking off one backpack while another remained on his back around 1.53am local time on February 1, the same day the 84-year-old was reported missing.
He then appeared to try to get on the other side of the stone wall, but after a couple of moments of difficulty, he walked away.
On Thursday, TMZ reported the outlet received another ransom letter from Nancy's captors, but this time with a threatening message about 'not being taken seriously.'
Nancy, the beloved mother of Today Show host Savannah Guthrie, was last seen on January 31 after returning home from dinner and a game night with her other daughter, Annie.
The newest piece of evidence comes after bombshell footage showed a masked man at Nancy's front door, fidgeting with the doorbell camera.
That man was seen wearing a black face mask, thick black latex gloves, and a black bookbag on his back. That clip marked the latest development in the missing persons case in over a week.
On Wednesday afternoon, investigators discovered a lone black glove near Nancy's $1 million home that resembled the one the masked man had on in the doorbell clip.

I'm late to covering this. I'm not sure I should cover it. But maybe some of you are following it.

All the consumer security camera systems have the ability to be "controlled" (activated, store video/photos) by Amazon, Google, whomever. Whenever they want.

There was a Superbowl ad for Ring doorbells that was all about "finding a lost dog." So Ring turned on all the Ring doorbells in a several mile radius to "find the lost dog." Without the owner's knowledge.

Think about that.

It's the surveillance state writ large without your consent... unless you read the really fine print. And there's really no "opt out" if the Feds want it.

Same. I know that area a bit (Catalina Foothills). Developments going up everywhere. Her house, I understand was only accessible by a long winding road, which suggests the residence is on a plot of land outside of any developments. I know for a fact that some of the less scrupulous real estate developers use third parties to "encourage" land owners to sell parcels. We're talking a $ Million home with a pristine view of the mountains. I've not seen anything that indicates how much land she owned but a house like that won't be sitting on a postage stamp.

In short, I think we'll find this real estate related and was supposed to be a "scare" but escalated. She had health issues but lived alone...so did she have one of those "I've fallen and I can't get up" alarms?

I pirposely read AoS on an outdated obsolete old browser that is incapable of even displaying ads or social media. If there's some post where a twitter embed is germane to the content, I can briefly use a newer browser to look just at the post, but generally I stick with the obsolete one. Loads 20x faster too, because no embeds, videos, tweets, ads, etc., which take up most of the bandwidth.

There's also ways to turn off ads from displaying in current browsers, but I wont mention that.

Dude liked to prey on the neighborhood. He was obviously going to rob her place and thought she was asleep or away for the evening. She wasn't and surprised him. He kills her and thinks he leaves some way of identifying him on the body (I was thinking choking for lack of blood and handprints). Not prepared for a murder, he has to drag her out, improperly or not wrapped, thus leaving the blood trail. He tosses her somewhere in the desert where he's hoping his DNA/identifying info and the body is destroyed by the elements and the predators (aka, the reason he took the body vs leaving it where it would be perfectly preserved in the house).

I once met ross perot at a veterans event in dallas when he was 88 years old. He had a security detail of at least 12 men inside the event with more outside and that was just for him. Pretty sure he had that number of security people on his kids as well. Very rich people do not let this kind of stuff happen and they plan for what to do if someone is stupid enough to try.

Well, in Ring/Amazon's case you can't even save the video on your own. It stays on their servers, and you pay a subscription to keep your video/pics.

So, yeah, once that video hits their servers they can pretty much do with it what they want.

I almost got a Ring a few years ago until I got to that part.

It's better, if you value your privacy or keeping your own data, to just buy your own system and save everything on your own computer.

But I can understand why so many people don't want to be bothered will all that noise and just slap a doorbell cam out front and hook it to WiFi.

They go to timing - had she had time to change when she came back home or was she taken out or leave on her own in the same street clothes.

Older ladies keep their canes, a robe (if one had changed into bed clothes), often a lap blanket, glasses at the waiting. She appeared to need the cane. (It's in family pictures.) She wouldn't leave without them and people associated with her lifestyle or care would know that.

Why do I care? Many, many years ago, I remember the older people in a housing project being tormented, robbed, beaten. One was my boyfriend's sweet European grandmother. They, she - even as they survived, were never 'right' after that. In fact, some like her died not long afterwards.

People abused, tortured never forget.
