Daily Mail: "CNN Has Lost Two Thirds of Its Viewership Since 2016 Amid Growing Fears Network Is Circling the Drain"

LOL. Jake Tapper, you ridiculous preening cuck loser.

CNN has lost nearly two-thirds of its primetime viewers over the past decade, figures show.

The decrease, from roughly 1.3 million in 2016 to 553,000 now, is fueling rumors of a possible network sale -- something CNN's up-for-grabs parent company has vehemently denied.

The results recorded this month by Nielsen are actually an improvement from January, when stars like Jake Tapper, Anderson Cooper, Erin Burnett, and Kaitlan Collins only secured 488,000 sets of eyes.

"Stars?" They pull in as many viewers as Nerdrotic. Is Nerdrotic a "star" too?

The network's daytime lineup has seen a similar decline as hosts such as Wolf Blitzer failed to move the needle, dropping from 752,000 to 433,000.

When compared to the same part of the year in 2021, the drops were even more pronounced -- 71 percent for primetime and 73 percent during the day.

Several network executives told the Daily Mail that the results were worrisome, even amid broader industry trends.

A CNN source, meanwhile, blamed the poor showing on audiences consuming news through alternative means.

'The reality is that people just consume news differently now than they did ten years ago, and we're adapting to address that, reaching large audiences all over the world,' the source said.

Their appeal, like Spinal Tap's, has become more selective.

Boston isn't a big college town anyway.

///

Several CEOs and lineup changes later, CNN's lack of success during Trump's second presidency is noticeable, sources said.

'It's not surprising that CNN's constant leadership void, which has largely rendered the cable network irrelevant with historic ratings declines, is leading ownership to explore yet another sale,' one said.

'Ownership at CNN is once again looking to jump ship just like the network's viewers have for the last decade after seeing its 2025 ratings slump to historic lows.

'Mark Thompson should have stayed in retirement as nothing can right the sinking ship that is CNN.'

In a related story, a liberal producer has quit CBS "News," probably because she's a hard-left liberal who refused to abide by Bari Weiss's demand for a more "heterodox" -- meaning, open to multiple perspectives and not just the default media left-liberal-antifa one -- news reportage.

Leftist outlets are making it sound as if the liberal producer who quit is a non-partisan who objects to Weiss's partisanship, but the full email makes it clear that she's a bitter, agenda-first liberal who is angry that she's not allowed to broadcast Democrat Party propaganda as "news."

For example, here's how the New York Times' agenda-first "media reporter" headlines the producer's goodbye letter:

NEW: "CBS Evening News" producer Alicia Hastey sends a bombshell farewell note:

Stories are "evaluated not just on their journalistic merit but on whether they conform to a shifting set of ideological expectations." pic.twitter.com/4orZmbkqRI

-- Ben Mullin (@BenMullin) February 12, 2026

Other outlets, like The Wrap, similarly focus on that single sentence to the exclusion of all others.

Is that an accurate digest of the full letter? Why no, it's not.

Because key parts of her letter admit that she's angry at being directed to pursue a "heterodox" view of the news and cites Walter Cronkite for the proposition that "being liberal" results in "news reports" that are "fair, accurate, and unbiased."

First of all, this leftist declares her real problem: She objects to "heterodox" reporting, reporting taking in multiple views and not just the media-dominant hard left view, and contrasts this to her preferred "traditional broadcast norms," i.e., the same singular, enforced left-wing media narrative every other outlet pushes.

Heterodoxreporting.jpg

Next, she implicitly declares that the news is and always must remain liberal. Citing the old lefty Walter Cronkite as proof that the news must always have a left-wing slant:

ifthatmakesusliberals.jpg

The fact that the NYT's lefty "media reporter" chose to bury these admissions, and instead push a false line that this producer just wanted to keep politics out of "news," is proof that no, "what makes us liberals" does not result in news reports that are "fair, accurate, and unbiased."

Hello! Happy Thursday. I hope you're enjoying the better weather. (And I hope that you are in fact seeing better weather, of course.)

Tim Carney repurposes the left's line explaining why they should get to oppress whites, males, Christians and heterosexuals now -- "when you're used to privilege, equality feels like oppression."

Always trust liberals like this cooze to be "fair, accurate, and unbiased."

From Instapundit:

SightBringer
@_The_Prophet__

⚡️The institution is dead.

The numbers are a death certificate. Six percent trust means collapse already occurred. The system is running on inertia, not legitimacy.

The function has been replaced but the corpse is still moving. Journalism today performs motion without force. It speaks, but it no longer shapes. It still tells stories, but the stories don't root. They slide. The public sees them as theater, not signal.

The political system treats media like a proxy war. The public treats it like noise. The market treats it like a content factory. What is missing is belief. Belief that the person on the other side is seeking truth. Belief that they would suffer to get it right. Belief that the institution would fire them if they got it wrong.

That belief is gone.

There is no fixing this. The repair metaphor is wrong. You cannot fix something whose failure is structural. The architecture that bred trust was destroyed. What remains is a set of incentives that reward volume, engagement, and narrative loyalty.

The next phase has already begun. Truth will route around dead institutions the way the internet routes around broken nodes. Systems that show their working memory will take over. People will trust compression engines over pundits. Codexes over op-eds. Logging over storytelling.

Truth won't come from people who sound right.

It will come from systems that hurt when they lie.

That's where it's heading. That's already started.

This is an interesting point in that humans respond to incentives. If you made it so that being an honest reporter paid better then being a dishonest one you'd suddenly find more honest reporters.

It is shakier though to tie this to organizations, a mistake that is commonly made, preciously because organizations are made up of people who are individually and personally motivated by their own finances not those of the company they are part of

So when a company shoots itself in the foot doing some leftwing stupidity the question will come up as to why the company did something so dumb. It wasn't "the company" it was one or more individuals making that decision and often it does work out for them even if it hurts the company

It lost it in 2016 when they were bought by that Billionaire who tried to make it Faux lite. It alienated the left, the right wouldn’t touch it because they all believed what Trump told them that it was fake news. Who are you selling your product to at that point?

They keep inviting guests to speak/debate that have zero credibility, just to give an illusion of fairness to both sides. I dont want to hear chris christie rick santorum and others trying to normalize trumps behavior. It's exhausting.

Choosing to report the news an not have entertainers distort it would help ratings They fired Don Lemon and others who spoke truth and started both sidesing everything

What happened was Trump branded them for normies, then they burned all their useful idiots out on politics in mid to late Trump, then without Trump to trash their dummies lost even more interest and then finally when Trump won again they don't want to even look at politics anymore except in the most extreme partisan terms.

93 Media thread!

Last night, I was flipping around on the TV, when I noticed that "Decision to Leave" was streaming on HULU. I haven't seen it yet, and TJM is currently flogging it, serendipity, I thought I'd watch it.

DtL is a very well-directed, very well-acted, very tightly scripted, but...very Korean movie. And so because of that, whether or not you buy into the action and finale depends on if the motivations of the characters seem real or reasonable to you.

This movie struck me almost from the get-go as Park Chan-Wook's version of Alfred Hitchcock's "Vertigo". Not the same story, but with elements from the same sort of neighborhood, a sort of highly romantic mystery surrounding a detective who's obsessed with a mysterious woman who in this case may have murdered her husband.

At times, I got the feeling that although all the actors were great that they were playing "concepts" or archetypes more than flesh and blood characters. Not a student of Korean mythology or whatever so I could be wrong about this.

I wish the lively and entrancing Mrs naturalfake hadn't fallen asleep during it, cuz DtL feels like a 1950s "woman's movie", and I wanted her opinion.

Anyway, check it out.

Posted by: naturalfake at February 12, 2026 01:32 PM (iJfKG)

94 All in all, we talk about conspiracy theories, but these ops have been very successful. Specifically
- Trump is tainted by Russian influence
- Wuhan flu is actually Covid, and is best handled by destroying your economy
- and mRNA vaccines are not dangerous, useless, and pure graft for Big Pharma
- The 2020 election was pure and not fraud
- J6 was worse than the Civil War

All these ops worked, to a large extent. Trump won, but each one peeled off some LIVs and moderates and harmed the country. And these are just the big political ones and I leave out trans, gay, climate, China, Ukraine, islam, etc.

Now they are trying to do the same with
- ICE is evil for enforcing laws
- Trump and his admin is protection Epstein clients

It is the same strategy of flooding the networks and convincing people through repetition. They only have to win the Presidency one more time to end the country.

I like it mainly because it is also available in coarse grind. Really nice on poached eggs. Iodized salt tastes strongly of iodine on things like popcorn.

CNN does not respond to the viewers' needs or wants for news because it responds only to its true customers. Those customers are the advertisers and financial supporters, and those that provide access to news sources. Until 2025 that meant Pharma and people funded in part by USAID via NGOs. The best news sources tend to be in NYC and DC.

155 you talk with them about the issues of the day they start to sound more and more rightwing until of course they get back on the grid and just start repeating the lefty narrative.
——-

Yep. I used to hike and camp with some lefty friends quite a bit. With few distractions in the wilderness, you can discuss things around the campfire or whatever. After a couple days you’d think they are seeing the light, or at least other people can have reasonable differences of opinion.

Talk to them again 3 months later, and it’s Like It Never Happened, not only that, they are enthusiastically spouting the latest nonsensical talking points. You’ll see the same thing 3 months, 3 years, even 30 years later. They get worse, not better.

I did not expect this, my opinion 30 years ago say, was that eventually they would moderate at least some of their worldview. Clear incontrovertible evidence for everyone to see is a hell of a thing, right?

But politics is their religion. Admitting they were wrong, about anything or even simple things is not in the cards. For one they will invoke the ire of the leftist mob. No dissent is allowed. Ever.

I don't think it is actually them being worse - its the narrative that has gotten worse.

If you take the leftwing narrative from say 1996 and have leftists look at it today they'll say it is racist, sexist, homophobic, blah blah but back then they'd tell you that's what they really believe.

Because they issue is they don't believe any of it. They believe whatever the narrative is...and I do mean whatever.

They'd tell you there were no Epstein files or clients in 2024 and they'll tell you of course Trump is an Epstein client now. And you can see that endlessly with everything they'll say they believe...

Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) has introduced the Cartel Marque and Reprisal Authorization Act to seize cartel assets, according to a Dec. 18 statement from the lawmaker’s office.

The bill would authorize President Donald Trump to commission private U.S. operators under letters of marque to take over cartel assets on land and sea.

A letter of marque is a written authority granted to a person by the government to seize the goods of enemies. Such letters once used to be a common tool against piracy.

266 Via GP:
Since 2004, the Social Security Administration has provided a simple process to help States with verifying voter applications. It’s called the HAVV System. States send in the name, DOB, and last four digits of the voter’s SSN. The SSA then notifies the State if that person is deceased, alive, matches SSA records, or No Match Found!

A whopping 13% of all HAVV verifications processed in 2025 came back as NO MATCH. That’s 318,217 of the 2.37 million submitted. Since 2011, an astounding 28.8% of all HAVV submissions have come back as NO MATCH. For the past 15 years, the federal government (SSA) has been unable to match 28.1 million voter submissions from States, to the information in its comprehensive computer systems. The Feds have every right to know what garbage is being processed at the State level for our Federal elections.

These alarming percentages most certainly are justification for the DOJ to have access to any State’s voter rolls, including the voter’s full SSN. Yet, activist Judges in MI, OR, and CA tossed out the DOJ cases for voter rolls. The HAVV program was created to process new voters who can’t provide a valid Driver’s License during registration.

It is all theft. That is all that is left to the system. All government has at its basic assumption is the monopoly on violence. I the beginning it is to protect everyone from violence, in the end it is fuck you pay me. We have reached the fuck you pay me end-state in Oregon, and any attempt to escape it is justification for violence by the state.
I find it cute when the reflexive defenders all say it is for our safety, when I get fined for a 1/2 misalignment of my sidewalk that the city will repair at 10x cost if I don't do it within 15 days. Fuck You Pay Me.
