So I read over on DoomHedge that Microsoft AI CEO predicts that within two years AI will take over most white-collar jobs.
CEO of Anthropic, Dario Armodei claims that AI will disrupt at least 50% of entry-level white collar jobs. • Does the mean we can send all the H1Bs home now? • Why, exactly, would anyone plop down six figures in debt to get a college degree in anything other than in-person gigs like healthcare? Nice film if 30's San Francisco. It's weird to me seeing cars that Baby Face Nelson would drive whizzing around a big metropolis.
SF was still nice enough when I visited in the early 80's, though it had its seedy parts (always did, I'd wager). The Greyhound bus station was a haven for weirdos; maybe they all are. Posted by: All Hail Eris, She-Wolf of the 'Ettes 'Ettes. at February 12, 2026 07:48 PM (kpS4V) 25

Come to think of it, I did see a 1941 Packard roadster for sale not long ago that seemed reasonable. The first time I ever saw a classic Packard close up was in Phoenix. There was a display of vintage autos in a Marshall Fields-anchored shopping center (this was in the early 90s), and right there in the center of the mall was a line of about a half dozen or so Packards from the 1930s. It was love at first sight. I will settle for a late 40s Dodge DeSoto. I know those can still be had at fairly reasonable prices. Posted by: Paco at February 12, 2026 07:55 PM (2L+MU) 37

The most beautiful old car I ever saw was a 1947 Lincoln-Continental at a car show in Richmond, VA. Absolutely fabulous restoration. Maroon convertible, tan roof and tan interior. If the owner had left the keys in the ignition, I'm not entirely sure I wouldn't have simply driven off in it. I did actually take a ride in a 1939 Cadillac one time. The dad of one of my buddies had quite a collection of vintage cars, and I cajoled him into letting his son drive me over to a girl's house to pick up some Cuban cigars she had brought back from England. I rented white tie and tails for the occasion. Would have been around 1973 or 1974, I believe. What a golden age it seems, now. Posted by: Paco at February 12, 2026 08:05 PM (2L+MU) 54

Stray dog adopts a master by jumping into her car and refusing to leave.
- Back when I used to work for a living, I represented a client who was like dirt bag. After he got out of prison, he was accused of (and guilty of) violating the no contact order with his victim/wife. He told me how they had met. He was driving down the street in olden days before car air-conditioning was common so he had his windows down. He stopped for a red light and a whole running from her pimp jumped in the window and the rest is history. (I also noticed during that trial the priorities of their clique. A point at trial was whether he turned left or right when he left the drug rehab where he had gone to find his wife. The witnesses testified that he either went in the direction of one liquor store or another liquor store. If it had been me, I'd have testified he went toward the office store where I bought my legal pads, pens, and shit.) This Epstein stuff gets weirder and weirder. The guy seemed to be at the center of all power people in the West. And all power people in the West seem to be completely vulnerable to sketchy illegal physical desires no matter how old they are. Displaying all the moral judgement and lack of worry about consequences of buzzed 16 year olds at their first party. Where did Epstein really come from? Who put him in this position? How would he be able to convince all these people who should have been around the block a few times to go along with his ideas? At least Diddy was dealing with young people who really wanted to be stars, so you can see how he did it...

Trump was asked about Lutnick today and he brushed it off so I'd be surprised if he was forced out. This is the problem with a massive drop like this. Lots of people are in the documents, over 3 million and counting, and many are innocent like Trump. Lutnick has been a big time money player in NYC for a long time and his meetings with a rich guy like Epstein could be just 2 rich guys in the very elite rich guy club in NYC. But we'll see.
