Back in the day on some kitten videos my old lady cat at the time used to start hunting for the meowing kittens by triangulating the sound. I had to calm her down on some of them. She was a sweet girl.

My current female cat will sometimes swipe video cats on the tail. She's sweet but a bit of a stinker.

55 Getting some warmer days, so the dogs are really enjoying their "outside time", lying in the good sunbeams.

Went out to check on the oldest dog ... and our outdoor cat had squeezed through the fence so she could also hang out in a warm patch with her three dog buddies.

She had plenty of other good spots available. However, I guess hanging with your buddies is the #1 priority.

I really kind of wonder if they all just hid their beer bottles when they heard me going out the door?

Dogs and cats eyes are built better than ours (predators primed to see fast movement easily) so they don't see regular 60hz refresh TVs like we do.

Newer monitors and TVs (the more expensive types made for gaming and faster motion clarity like OLEDs for example) get to 120 Hz and much higher. Pets can see what's on those TVs quite easily and will notice other animals, etc.

I remember the first time I felt my privacy "violated" -- my single mom would have her mom come look after me and my two younger brothers during summers.

My first crush was on a girl in 5th grade (who asked her best friend to ask my best friend if I wanted to "go steady" -- ha, so grown-up and what a laugh!). She gave me this really nice card on Valentine's Day that year, and I hid it under my mattress so I could pull it out and look at it before going to bed each night.

One day I get home from school and my grandmother accosts me holding this card, scolding & embarrassing me, and asking me why I had hidden it under my mattress!

Wasn't blessed with any children of my own, but: I would definitely want them to learn about privacy and to respect others' personal space.

Like "Boundaries" posted above, my parents also sifted through my room whenever I was gone, usually blaming my younger brother & sister if I mentioned noticing. (Yeah, as if a 2- or 5- year old could reach certain places to rat around AND then put things back!)

They were paranoid, I guess, based on Mom working part time at the HS and seeing some of my classmates' behavior. I remember getting chewed out for *being in on* something another girl did... "Why didn't you tell anyone?!" She screamed at me. "Well, because that girl isn't one of my friends and I don't know anything about her besides her name." (which wasn't a good enough answer, btw)

The way I’ve seen it described is that dogs and cats see a 60 Hz TV is like we see a strobe-light effect. They see images mixed in with black frames and so they don’t think it’s real and ignore it most of the time. You may get a dog or cat that will look at ot but they aren’t seeing what we do.

Most newer iPhones and higher end Samsung and other Android phones have 120 Hz screens on them in recent years so anybody who has one can check it out with their pets by showing them a full screen YouTube video of cats or something and see how they react to it.

Regardless of who is at fault, the tourist or visitor is held to be responsible for any collision, on the concept that if they weren’t in their country, the accident wouldn’t have occurred in the first place.

Not going to say I agree with it, but I can see the logic. It should be applied to illegal aliens and visa holders and the rest of it.

Any mayhem or costs incurred on America should be billed to their country, or lopped off any “foreign aid”. America is like the kid who gets beat up and his lunch money stolen for 50 years running.

Our obsession with privacy is really pretty recent, something previous generations never knew. Growing up, I always shared a room with my brother who was 2 years younger than me. In college I had roommates in small apartments and we slept 2, sometimes 3 to a room. I never had a private bedroom til I was 22 years old; and then I got married in a few months and that was over.

Privacy isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. You can live without it.

The refresh rate was too slow for dogs. Humans with their slower eyes and longer persistence-of-vision would see NTSC/PAL TV as a motion picture. Dogs would see a slideshow. And not a good one, since old CRTs were interlaced; they drew all the even-numbered lines in one frame, then all the odd-numbered lines in the next.
