I'm off RPIs, they are now wildly expensive for what they are.
Once you add all the peripherals, case, power supply, keyboard mouse, you are now more expensive than a refurbed i5 sff computer that is significantly more powerful than an RPI and is only slightly larger, you add an inexpensive ESP32 and you have something that's less expensive, can install any operating system you want and will blow the rpi out of the water. Just checked jungle retailer, you can get a refurbed hp pro desk 600 g4 sff for $219, this is an i5, with 16gb of ddr4, 512gb ssd, and windows 11 installed.
You used to be able to get the g4 for under 200 bucks, about 2 years ago, I picked up 5 of these and loaded them up with ram and large m2 drives and ssd for various projects. One of these replaced an RPI 4 Plex Media player. Still, the G4 represents an amazing value over the RPI 5. Pick one up while supplies last. @karpathy Andrej Karpathy @karpathy Jan 31 I'm being accused of overhyping the [site everyone heard too much about today already]. People's reactions varied very widely, from "how is this interesting at all" all the way to "it's so over". To add a few words beyond just memes in jest - obviously when you take a look at the activity, it's a lot of garbage - spams, scams, slop, the crypto people, highly concerning privacy/security prompt injection attacks wild west, and a lot of it is explicitly prompted and fake posts/comments designed to convert attention into ad revenue sharing. And this is clearly not the first the LLMs were put in a loop to talk to each other. So yes it's a dumpster fire and I also definitely do not recommend that people run this stuff on their computers (I ran mine in an isolated computing environment and even then I was scared), it's way too much of a wild west and you are putting your computer and private data at a high risk. That said ... Eh, I don't know. Many of these "kids" are in their mid-20s and have been dealing with the media for years. Some of the skiers have big endorsement deals with companies and have professional management because despite Olympic rules they are professional athletes. Same kind of thing happened at the Australian Open a few weeks ago with one reporter in particular trying to goad the players into trash talking the US and they handled it much better. If you aren't proud to represent the US overseas then don't put on the jersey. It's an incredible honor, be thankful or shut the hell up. At their level of performance, the Olympics is just one more stop in a career of international competitions. What makes this one different from the others is that instead of just one sport, there are a lot of them. Maybe its just the regular dumbing-down of the average person over the years, and being well rounded is no longer valued as being a part of general character. Bread without salt is pretty flat tasting. It also moderates the yeast or dough rise. James Beard wrote a popular book on baking it in the 70s and used ridiculous amounts of salt in the recipe, but he was a lot closer to the optimal than a lot of recipes today.
A lot of food recipes now are just a nod towards, ya gotta have it included so it will be in there “1/128th teaspoon salt” technically speaking. It is important not to over season recipes, gotta sneak up on it sometimes but it’s ridiculous how people take it upon themselves to edit things to that point. Here's a story I just do not understand. An undercover cop did a routine cocaine buy and when the cop told him he was under arrest, the guy got on his motorscooter and tried to speed away. The cop picked up a nearby insulated cooler and threw it at the scooter, to stop the escape. In the ensuing accident the retard died, and crooked Letitia James is sending the cop to prison. WTF?

Progressive bullshit always collapses on itself due to internal inconsistency, massive contradictions. They think laws are like a smorgasbord, and they can pick and choose - “Ooh, I don’t like that law” but that’s not how this works.
They are also oblivious to certain realities believing humans can be perfected, or something. That’s not how this works either. “A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything you got”. Posted by: Common Tater at February 08, 2026 07:59 AM (cfKqR) 171
