Taking the Welfare Americans Just Don't Want: Half of All the Immigrant Households Contributing So Much to Our Economy Are on Welfare

Welfare nation -- more than half of immigrant households on government aid
More than half of households headed by immigrants are relying on at least one taxpayer-funded welfare program, according to a new analysis that is intensifying scrutiny of the long-term costs tied to the nation's immigration system. The study, released this week by the Center for Immigration Studies, examined 2024 data from the U.S. Census Bureau's Survey of Income and Program Participation and found that 53 percent of immigrant-headed households receive some form of welfare assistance. That compares with 37 percent of households headed by native-born Americans -- a gap that widens when the data is broken down further. When naturalized citizens are removed from the analysis, nearly six in ten households headed by legal immigrants and illegal aliens are enrolled in at least one welfare program. Medicaid and food assistance account for the bulk of that participation, but cash assistance and housing aid remain significant contributors. Illegal alien--headed households showed the highest reliance of all. About 61 percent receive welfare benefits, including roughly 44 percent enrolled in Medicaid and an equal share receiving food stamps. More than one in five receive cash assistance, with a smaller but notable portion also receiving housing aid.
Because these foreigners add such vibrancy and fraud to our economy, you can understand why Charles Schumer and the Democrat Party are absolutely insistent that they vote illegally in our elections. Even MSNOW -- that's the transitioned form of MSNBC -- doesn't get it.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Thursday likened voter ID requirements to "Jim Crow" while defending his opposition to the SAVE Act, legislation that would require proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in federal elections. During an appearance on MSNBC's Morning Joe, Schumer was pressed on why he rejects the bill despite polling showing voter ID enjoys strong bipartisan support, including among Democrats. Co-host Jonathan Lemire raised those numbers directly. Schumer brushed them aside and instead escalated his rhetoric, branding the proposal "Jim Crow 2.0" and accusing Republicans of reviving tactics once used to suppress minority voters. The New York Democrat argued the legislation would unfairly burden everyday Americans, citing women who change their last names after marriage and individuals who may struggle to locate documents such as birth certificates.Yeah, sure.
He described the bill as "vicious and nasty," warned it would lead to discrimination at the ballot box, and declared it dead on arrival in the Senate. Under current Senate rules, the SAVE Act would require 60 votes to advance, a threshold Schumer made clear Democrats will not help meet. He said the bill will not receive a single Democrat vote, effectively blocking it regardless of public support.

If the Republicans chose to tie up the senate for about eight weeks, and have the votes to pass SAVE Act, they can pass it without Dem votes by a talking filibuster. The same way that Senate rules were changed to create cloture in the first place after the Armed Ships Act filibuster just before WWI.
No senator may rise and talk more than twice on an issue and if the GOP holds the floor for the SAVE act, they can eventually exhaust all the Dems from the speakers list and then proceed to a vote. Anna Paulina Luna referred to it as did Thune who teased that it might be done after the shutdown ended.

IIRC, Senate rules require a vote on the motion to end the debate on the bill in order to actually bring the bill up for a yea/nay vote on the bill itself. The first vote requires a 2/3 majority to end the debate.

Cloture is a really swampy Senate rule that requires 60 votes to end debate on a matter. The older rule was 67 but required senators to speak and hold the floor to do it, aka the talking filibuster.
But, before 1917 or so, the Senate had no cloture rule but did strictly enforce rule 19 that no senator may rise to speak more than twice on a bill and eventually teh speaker's list is exhausted when all the opponents have had their shot and been heard on the matter and they have to hold the floor to do it, then debate ends with no one left that can speak to the matter. Thence comes the vote.

But, before 1917 or so, the Senate had no cloture rule but did strictly enforce rule 19 that no senator may rise to speak more than twice on a bill and eventually teh speaker's list is exhausted when all the opponents have had their shot and been heard on the matter and they have to hold the floor to do it, then debate ends with no one left that can speak to the matter. Thence comes the vote.

The New Deal's Aid to Families with Dependent Children was also welfare and in part responsible for destroying the black family over time.

To grab more districts you have to reduce the margins in many of them. My thesis is all that being true, they want to win the immediate battle on the hope it will help them win the war. They are pulling out all the stops to win these midterms because they see the long game is against them. That short term win will help them stall and that’s the game right now.

I have not been able to take my anti arthritis medicine since late January and cannot resume until the end of February. Long and short, not taking it is not pleasant--it was bad enough that when medicines only kind of worked, a lot worse to go cold turkey for surgery.
I might get the pleasantry of psoriasis developing around the wound area.

True, but classical politics caused representatives to follow public opinion. What is going on now is to me, unprecedented. When issues reached 80-20 levels, both parties embraced it to prevent blowback.

Basically home bound and watching the tube from an approved posture, no weight lifting beyond 5 lbs, and have to support my melon head until the joints begin to fuse. Something that no one is thinking about is the surge in native-born employment that will happen as the weather breaks. At the same time, ICE being on the prowl will cause even more self-deportation, so as we head into the midterms, there are going to be a huge amount of people with improving finances who will vote to keep what they have.
