Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Taking the Welfare Americans Just Don't Want: Half of All the Immigrant Households Contributing So Much to Our Economy Are on WelfareWhat would our economy do without them, besides thrive. Welfare nation -- more than half of immigrant households on government aid Because these foreigners add such vibrancy and fraud to our economy, you can understand why Charles Schumer and the Democrat Party are absolutely insistent that they vote illegally in our elections. Even MSNOW -- that's the transitioned form of MSNBC -- doesn't get it. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer on Thursday likened voter ID requirements to "Jim Crow" while defending his opposition to the SAVE Act, legislation that would require proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in federal elections. During an appearance on MSNBC's Morning Joe, Schumer was pressed on why he rejects the bill despite polling showing voter ID enjoys strong bipartisan support, including among Democrats. Co-host Jonathan Lemire raised those numbers directly. Schumer brushed them aside and instead escalated his rhetoric, branding the proposal "Jim Crow 2.0" and accusing Republicans of reviving tactics once used to suppress minority voters. The New York Democrat argued the legislation would unfairly burden everyday Americans, citing women who change their last names after marriage and individuals who may struggle to locate documents such as birth certificates.Yeah, sure. He described the bill as "vicious and nasty," warned it would lead to discrimination at the ballot box, and declared it dead on arrival in the Senate. Under current Senate rules, the SAVE Act would require 60 votes to advance, a threshold Schumer made clear Democrats will not help meet. He said the bill will not receive a single Democrat vote, effectively blocking it regardless of public support.

If the Republicans chose to tie up the senate for about eight weeks, and have the votes to pass SAVE Act, they can pass it without Dem votes by a talking filibuster. The same way that Senate rules were changed to create cloture in the first place after the Armed Ships Act filibuster just before WWI.
No senator may rise and talk more than twice on an issue and if the GOP holds the floor for the SAVE act, they can eventually exhaust all the Dems from the speakers list and then proceed to a vote. Anna Paulina Luna referred to it as did Thune who teased that it might be done after the shutdown ended. Posted by: whig at February 06, 2026 06:09 PM (2swu2) 12

Daily Signal
"The idea of a talking filibuster is to enforce Rule 19 of the Standing Rules of the Senate, which states, “No Senator shall speak more than twice upon any one question in debate on the same legislative day without leave of the Senate.” Under the rule, Senate Republicans would refuse to adjourn and would force Democrats to talk in order to filibuster the bill. Once the Democrats ran out of speeches on the question of the bill, it would come to a vote and pass by a simple majority. However, under this procedure, Democrats could use up hundreds of hours of floor time on just one legislative question." Posted by: whig at February 06, 2026 06:11 PM (2swu2) 19

Illegal alien--headed households showed the highest reliance of all. About 61 percent receive welfare benefits, including roughly 44 percent enrolled in Medicaid and an equal share receiving food stamps. More than one in five receive cash assistance, with a smaller but notable portion also receiving housing aid.
It's almost like Friedman's argument that you can't have open borders and a welfare state at the same time was entirely correct. Keeping with my stratification theme for today, (before I go run errands.)
This is obvious and true across the West -- Denmark, Netherlands, and other countries have reported hard data for years. So why are we importing millions? They say it is necessary to support the "welfare state" with aging populations and fewer workers with more pensioners. But how does importing freeloaders help? It can't. It does help: - businesses get cheap labor (some do work) - businesses get more customers (spending benefits checks) - gov workers get more clients (higher taxes of productive class) But mostly it stratifies society into those who can afford to stay away from the invaders they allow in, and those who can not. Exactly the point. We must discriminate at the ballot box - I don't want non US citizens disenfranchising the rest of us by diluting our votes! If an American voter casts a ballot for X and the non-citizen casts one for Y, then the American voter has been disenfranchised and their vote doesn't count because it was overridden by a non-citizen. Very few filibusters under the talking rule suddenly became blocking everything from one or two per year with none in a lot of years, suddenly became 40-50, then 100-200- and more per year. Exactly. Over 70% of Democrat voters support voter ID but their party leaders don't. Does that make any sense? Democrat voters, and a lot on our side, have been led to believe that Democrat policies are just so gosh darn popular and that's why they win nationally. It's always been a lie. Things that also enjoy broad support in the same poll:
-Making in-person voting available for two weeks prior - 80% support, Republicans do not support it -Making election day a national holiday - 73% support, Republicans do not support it -Restoring the right to vote to felons who have served their sentences - 66%, Republican do not support it -Automatically registering all citizens to vote - 59%, Republicans do not support it. If you want to have a talk about voting reform, let's do that. But choosing the ONE thing republicans support is cherry picking, and partisan by nature. Democrats don’t oppose voter ID at all. They oppose how Republicans want to implement it. If Republicans came in and said “we want voter ID and we will do everything we can to ensure every citizen can easily get their voter ID without extra cost to them.” The democrats would be okay with it. My thesis is all that being true, they want to win the immediate battle on the hope it will help them win the war. They are pulling out all the stops to win these midterms because they see the long game is against them. That short term win will help them stall and that’s the game right now.
Posted by: Marcus T at February 06, 2026 06:44 PM (ReYtg) --- I agree, but the point I'm trying to make is that they did not win many of their House and Senate seats. With an honest vote, they will lose much of what they have. The wave they will need to overcome that would have to be massive, and it's going to be hard to build when you're on the 20% side of an 80-20 issue. Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Thanks whig, I didn't realize that the the older speaking filibuster rule was a threshold of 67 instead of 60.
Time to re-watch "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington?" (Damn, from 1939, the year my dear departed mother was born.) Posted by: ShainS If one wanted a dramatic film subject, the Zimmerman Telegraph book would be an excellent story to tell. Senate filibuster was going on at the time over the Wilson Administration's Armed Ship Bills and Henry Cabot Lodge worked with his political opponents on the Progressive side like Fighting Bob Follette to keep the Congress in session instead of adjournment. The anti war progressives didn't trust Wilson to stay out of the war, and the pro interventionist GOP were aiding the filibuster to keep Wilson's feet to the fire about helping the Allies. The Dem majority leader was caught from the left and right. And then suddenly you get the drop of the unrestricted submarine warfare and the Brits intercept a telegram that urges Mexico to come into the side of the Germans as allies to regain the Southwest. Eventful couple of months brilliantly described in the book. Posted by: whig at February 06, 2026 06:48 PM (2swu2) 152

When issues reached 80-20 levels, both parties embraced it to prevent blowback. The slow dance between them, where one rides an issue to power and the other tries to find a different issue after discretely dropping the unpopular one - that has been the story of American politics. This world needs more muttonchops. I always wondered if muttonchops helped in the pleasuring arts of cunnilingus. Posted by: Heterosexual And Loving It! at February 06, 2026 07:14 PM (Ksqrb) 218
The operation conducted more than 8,200 inspections that resulted in 704 drivers being taken off the road, including approximately 500 who failed English proficiency standards.
A 2 day truck driver operation by the DOT. Yay! and scary at the same time. 8.5% of truckers were not qualified. Posted by: Guy Mohawk at February 06, 2026 07:14 PM (n5tGW) 219
What other nifty ideas are we going to bring back from 1790s ?? Powdered wigs ? Duels ?
Posted by: runner I am all in on duels. The only investigation should be whether or not your marksmanship was adequate enough to not cause undue pain and suffering. Punish poor marksmanship by shooting the bad aim perp where he/she shot the other party. No pinch hitters or hired duelist goons. Posted by: BifBewalski- at February 06, 2026 07:04 PM (QVmho) You could just have each duellist fire at a dummy image of the other dude. The point of the duel was to induce an apology to satisfy honor, or show courage in standing up to it. If you gunned down too many you'd be thought a professional and nobody need duel you. Meanwhile there is a 100% chance the Dems will crap all over the 4th of July celebrations.
Posted by: Ace-Endorsed Author A.H. Lloyd I'm expecting violence. The propaganda press will fan it and the usual suspects will riot. Communists won't be able to help themselves. Posted by: Puddleglum at work at February 06, 2026 07:15 PM (byWhc) 221

@93 It would probably be better just to go back to limiting suffrage to property owners.
Damn straight. And owners, too. Not just signatories to a mortgage. You don't get to vote if you rent from the bank. Got you attention, honkee and honkette? Good. Now, let's define "White." You probably don't make that either. Posted by: Way, Way Downriver at February 06, 2026 07:17 PM (zdLoL) 223
We had a campus event today. There were about 5 people, some appearing to not be students, gathered to provide a space for grieving the two people who goaded immigration enforcement personnel into shooting them. Nobody paid them any mind so I hope they weren't too terribly disappointed that they didn't get to harass anyone.

The fact that virtually the same thing is going on in all the English speaking nations and Europe tells me it isn't natural, but induced.
One thing that happened was TV and radio MSMs led to retention of all government in Congress being retained 90 percent of the time. This reduced the pressure to work to the electorate and replaced it with special interest bribery. Rome had a similar issue in the days of the Republic where elections were so expensive you needed to ravage the province to pay for the next one. In that case it made the elections very competitive for the wrong reasons. The internet is changing the MSM monopoly. Posted by: Oldcat ===== Good analysis but I think the plundering in this case is the public fisc. The current regimes got into the habit of vote buying in universal suffrage and the bill for that is coming due. Posted by: whig at February 06, 2026 07:19 PM (2swu2) 225
174 About 96% of Americans do not want illegal alien foreign criminal gangs "settling" in American cities, yet "Get ICE out NOW" rallies are forced upon students in Woke Big Cities, and BigMedia pelvic thrusts their Narrative upon the masses.
................................................. Watched a video of a Trump hat guy in a herd of liberal wimmen. With a few grey haired old hippie men lurking around. They were all older than me, and that's saying something (but much uglier). Bitter, angry, thumpies. Still in 1970 Kent riot behavior. The guy would keep yelling on his bullhorn. A drummer drumming tried to drown him out and he thanked him and rapped to the beat. Old hags got in his face in full denture cream spittal and halitosis yelling "shame." He kept on whereas I would have been much worse. They had their Soros signs and home made ones of the original Ice Out! I don't know where it was but there was snow. I hardly saw one young person,no blacks and no Somolians. Just old white hippies. I was a very chic hippie in dress and partying, but never protesting. Although not happy with the Vietnam war at that point and wanting our boys home. I never grew the angry bitter face. Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at February 06, 2026 07:19 PM (WONhk) 226
Whig, hope you experience relief from your condition. I'll pray for a quick and complete recovery. Please check in and let us know how you're doing.

Of the above noted welfare recipients, how many have chosen to assimilate and/or have required their children to fully assimilate? Bet that would be an eye opener, too.
This BS became acceptable, in part, because ALL BLM (actually AKA Black Liberation Movement) so that meant all Black, brown, and definite POC, but even sort of iffy, well tanned, and/or great at applying makeup. And then, hand-in-hand, there also must be belief in Intersectionality as a real thing. Even crazier, many in the nation fell into BS like land acknowledgements that eventually do or will grant more undeserving a greater hand up. Somewhere - probably in several documents and treaties - the US and/or North America as a whole agreed it was wonderful to have lots of aliens from all over come quickly to this affluent part of the world in order to built a magic land of possibilities - or not. 🤷♀️ And most politicians simply ride along for the power and money. But remember, Asian Americans still hold the highest levels of income and education in the US. Period. Posted by: L - No nic, another fine day at February 06, 2026 07:58 PM (NFX2v) 228

I can guarantee that the result will be that there are a hell of a lot more "right wing" property owners than leftist ones and you won't like the result. I haven't the slightest idea if there's a touch of the tarbrush 5 or more generations back, but you won't find it either. BTW, some of my downstream spawn is is partly black, despite blond hair and green eyes. And I love them, so fuck off. Now, go away. Posted by: buddhaha at February 06, 2026 08:24 PM (pk60q) 229
Whig, best wishes for your surgery and good recovery.
Typing this as I lie on my $399 Chinese electric recliner with the surgical sight on my back all healed after Jan 7 surgery. At least you won’t get bored since you can connect with the horde. Posted by: Henry at February 06, 2026 08:40 PM (tWkg3) 230
Whig, one more thing, my fellow lawyer with PsA and spine surgery coming up.
I stayed on Cimzia pre and post op, no stopping. It had no effect on the surgery or post, healing. Some surgical hospitals tell pts to stay on their biologics, to prevent resistance later to the drug. Posted by: Henry at February 06, 2026 08:45 PM (tWkg3) 231
