She's low-IQ ghetto trash and has always been low-IQ ghetto trash. If I was black I'd be inconsolably offended that she's "representative" of my people. Same with Jasmine Ratchet. This is what Democrats think "real" black people are. Gross caricatures of racist stereotypes that used to be near-universally condemned but now used as selling points.

71 Do tariffs cause inflation, or is it 50 million illegals getting government benefits and it the fact that the money supply was jacked up 40% to give them their 'free' money?
I know what Milton Friedman said 40 years ago, and it is still the truth. Posted by: Thomas Paine Tariffs are a tax, no more, no less, but as to who pays them, it depends on a number of circumstances--substitution effect, supply/demand effects, macro effects like currency exchange rates, strategic decisions by the vendor to maintain market share and workforce, key decisions by importers as to whether or not shift supply chains to a lower cost producer, etc. etc. For most part, tariffs of a large country become such a mess entangled with micro and macro factors that whether tariffs cause general inflation can't be answered as a general rule. For individual products, perhaps in the short run, but in the long run, not so much. Posted by: whig at February 05, 2026 05:24 PM (2swu2) 105

@SpeakerJohnson Republicans funded border security and immigration enforcement in the Working Families Tax Cut to clean up the chaos Democrats created after allowing 20 MILLION illegal aliens into our country — on purpose. Via Insty, apparently ski jumpers are injecting their...yeah that...to get additional distance:
The Winter Olympics has long been a battleground for marginal gains. Just look at the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) banning the new helmets Great Britain had planned to wear next week due to their aerodynamic ridges. Thursday, however, took things to a new level in Milan Cortina — ski jumpers allegedly injecting their penises with hyaluronic acid in order to fly that little bit further. The claims were originally reported in German newspaper Bild, in January on the eve of the latest Winter Olympics beginning in Italy and subsequently addressed by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) president Witold Banka during a press conference. So far, so lurid, but there is science behind the allegations. Injecting the penis with acid would increase its size and give the ski jumpers bigger genitalia at the point their suits are measured by 3D scanners. Temporarily enhanced measurements would theoretically mean athletes being given a bigger, looser suit and, like a sail catching wind, could allow them to make longer jumps. Inflation is too much money chasing too few goods in aggregate. This is caused by money "printing", usually.
Coffee and bananas are individual commodities and have price levels. Posted by: Guy Mohawk at February 05, 2026 05:52 PM (n5tGW) 213
For the economics lesson, increased demand causes a temporary price rise, until supply catches up. Conversely, a drop in demand causes prices to fall temporarily. The same is true for changes in supply. But, the inflation itself, especially long term inflation, is a monetary phenomenon, when there are too many dollars in the system, by borrowing or currency debasement.

Well, OK. Those are some pretty resilient foreign companies that can absorb surprise, capricious, hostile tariff policy blows.
On the ground here, I see prices continuing to rise. (Yes, I acknowledge gasoline is down at least 20% from where it was.) Like I said above, I'd like to ask Bessent his own question: how does he define inflation? Posted by: gp at February 05, 2026 05:15 PM (N8ZBc) You seem to be intentionally obtuse. Price increases are not necessarily a symptom of inflation. Inflation is caused by intentionally devaluing currency (such as injecting trillions of dollars into the economy to support 10s of millions of foreign invaders). Inflation is caused by bad fiscal policy. Tariffs are taxes. Tariffs do not devalue currency. Posted by: Retired Buckeye Cop is now an engineer at February 05, 2026 06:15 PM (pJWtt) 274

Tariffs aren't inflationary any more than any other sales tax is inflationary. Inflation is caused by excess money supply, not by transferring a portion of the sale price of a good to the government.

Inflation is a general increase in the price level due to a mismatch between the money supply (too much) and things to buy with that money (too few).
If the government prints and hands everyone $100,000 you feel richer but you're not. You're still bidding against everyone else for the same amount of cars, wheat, haircuts, and orange juice. So the price of those goes up. That's inflation. Moving money from your pocket to the government's pocket isn't inflation. You are poorer, so you can buy fewer things. But the government is richer, so it can buy more things. The amount of dollars bidding for all the goods in the economy remains the same. Maxine Waters - what people cringe at, Dem politicians aspire to.
Through a bizarre series of circumstances, I actually met her 20 years ago - she was dumb as a box of rocks then. Literally couldn't understand my relatively simple questions. But no worries, she compensates for it by being an aggressively entitled asshole. It seems like 20 years hasn't helped much. Then again, this was about par for the course with me - she'd get simple things wrong, and when you tried to correct her, she'd start yelling at you. Well said. Now, tariffs might create inflation, but only if: 1) the producers don't decide to compensate with lowering their profit margins. If they do, the price to the consumer remains the same. 2) The consumers don't just switch to another product with lower tariffs. Say buying American. 3) The product is a luxury consumers can happily do without. Like French wines. The only way tariffs can cause inflation is if none of those three things happen. What we seem to be seeing is all three of those things are happening. Imports are dropping, but that is not fueling inflation. Posted by: The Whine Guy at February 05, 2026 07:04 PM (L6dcX) 309
The problem Dems have:
1) Low IQ congress people reading gotcha questions prepare din advance by their staff. 2) Very smart Trump cabinet members, who understand the topic and answer the questions in ways these dummies didn't expect. 3) Because they are dumb, and don't know what they are talking about, they either plod on and make points that don't make any sense or lash out at the cabinet person for making them look dumb. Waters couldn't define a tariff with a dictionary and a speaking coach. Even if it was explained to her, she'll forget in about 10 minutes. Bessent disrupted the script, which is why she got angry - what else is she supposed to do, wing it? She has no clue what she's even asking. Imagine Waters reading questions about advanced mathematics and nuclear physics. Somebody gives her an answer, and she has no clue what to do with it.
