10 Cafe Time! Perfect.

Today's China insight is this: Xi's purge may well be a sign he is pushing ahead with invading Taiwan despite the advice of his senior commanders. General Zhang is one of the last combat veterans in the PLA, and served as a regimental commander in the second round of fighting with Vietnam. He would know what happens when a green, untried army faces a determined enemy on their home ground: disaster.

Moreover, this is not the US Navy in 1944. China's last naval battle was in 1894 and it was a resounding defeat.

Another problem is that this is not Xi's first round of purges - he's whacking his own creatures. It's hard to keep purging the military and not have the survivors realize their days are numbered.

14 Another item: I'd overlooked that last spring a Chinese nuclear submarine sank while practicing mooring in the Yangtze River. Apparently its reactor melted down because there is now a plume of radioactive material that has reached the waters of the Philippines. That's a spectacular screw-up, and does not bode well for combat operations.

Yes, the US had a bunch of mishaps, but that was because of DEI and gross incompetence. That is being remedied. Can China fix the PLAN? These are the same guys who ran into their own cutter. Not top shelf, and probably heavily reliant on conscripts.

Alternate analysis was: Xi is becoming quite ill, and has so far refused to name a successor; the recent purge was in response to unease and restlessness of senior officers who don't want to wait until the last minute to start fighting for the top spot.

Possibly, though there is a mechanism for succession through the Party, which held a congress in September. Gutting the CMC by removing every general doesn't exactly promote stability, it threatens to create regional warlords in the persons of the five theater commanders.

Yes, but it often happens that way. I still think that the PLA - which apparently had had 2,000 officers purged under Xi - is probably losing patience with the situation. Zhang was a unifying figure, and while removing him creates a vacuum, nature abhors them as well.

Hence the apparent troops movements toward Beijing. The PLAAF seems loyal, but it's also not very effective at holding ground. The PLA is the center of gravity.

How did this shit get started in the first place? When I was in school, if a boy tried to hang out in the girls locker room, he would have got his ass kicked, and then arrested.

I recall some grumbling about a lack of girls on the football team. Once in a while someone would try out.

Most of the other sports were gutted to make room (funding) for federally mandated Title 9. Girls sports. Again, if a guy tried to insert himself in this venue, everyone would have said Get The Fuck Out Of Here

“No, I’m really a Girl!” would NOT have persuaded anybody. I’m still unclear just how the fuck this even happened. Obviously some coordination involved.

Our US Ice Dancing champions won’t be going to the Olympics because the female skater is not a citizen of the US yet. It’s the IOC who won’t let her compete for the US. She’s married to her skating partner who was born in the US. She has her green card and is in the middle of the 3 year waiting period. Senator Warren and Rep Markey tried to expedite the process but was unsuccessful.

176 You know, we've been listening to evangelical Christians like Lindsey Graham for far too long HAHAHAHA!!!!!

Anyway, what would they know about free markets and liberty? They learned everything from hummus-chugging usurers. They're not exactly reliable sources, except for insidious, false scripture.

Anyway, what if there were a more conservative source for biblical doctrine than your local "Christian" church?

What if the Juche Ideal *was* the good news about Jesus Christ?

I'm just asking questions, but you can find the answers in the Selected Works of Kim il-Sung, a patriotic conservative - nobody can doubt that. It only costs $20.00 running dog dollars, or 450,000 DPRK won, but salvation is priceless.

228 Photo of the criminal doggie who ate the pillow...

Son and DIL got their first Golden boy as a baby of 8wks. When he was six months old, they decided he could hang out in part of the house when they worked, not in his crate. I advised them not to, but our sons rarely listen to me.

They came home for lunch from work that week and there were feathers flying like snow in the familyroom/kitchen. Bailey was proud he killed his bed. During the murder, the bed knocked over a cheap tv table and he took a large bite of particle board from that enemy.

A book I had given DIL and pen fell off the table in the battle. He ate most of the book and part of the pen.

The vet was called. They were told to "watch him." I had to "watch him" poop white (the book) for one day. We figured the plastic in the pen absorbed in to the paper and white feathers and did not kill him.

They crated him again for another six months and he was good after that. Except for eating coconuts at our house (the fiberous part). He was addicted to those.

246 Regarding Perry Mason...Here's how every Saturday of my life for 10yrs went:

We went over to my other grandmothers to be with cousins after Saturday cartoons. Sometimes gangs were formed, especially if cousins were visiting from New Orleans. Some cousins got spankings. I once fed mud to younger ones, who watched me make mud pies, telling them it was chocolate pudding. Some are still mad about this but they freaking watched me do it.

We had dinner. Often cheap chicken or Krystal Burgers. Lunch was horrid British cooking, often with a tough roast, so this was dinner. I had an Orange Crush, my only soda of the week.

We watched part of Lawrence Welk before going home to our apt and I watched the rest of Welk with my other grandmother and aunt. I am pretty sure we then watched Perry Mason and I went to bed.

I had my entire week made up of tv. Sunday was Disney, Lassie, then Bonanza.

I don't remember Monday.

Tuesdays was Red Skelton. I remember this because in 4th grade I went with my mother to a hygiene class (sex ed and I learned nothing) and missed the show and was mad.

Don't remember Wed or Th.

Friday night we got to watch The Flintstone's while eating burgers.

249 Trump is probably focused on deporting as many illegals as possible in the time he has left as President. Hitting a rough patch in one area threatens to disrupt the whole program. The idea is to stay below the media threshold but keep up the intensity.

There is some craft involved.

Personally, I don't care if he goes soft on MN. I don't live there and if the citizens there want to harbor a bunch of dependent, low-life, scum bags, then let them have at it. MN is in for a lot of self-generated hurt, let the people there deal with it. Those people are punishing their kids.

I mean realistically, do you think these hard-ass policies are really going to work in S CA?
