The Supreme Court has okayed California's new highly gerrymandered map, while GOP-controlled states continue refusing to fight fire with fire, because of Muh Princibuhls.

Femcels created fake boyfriends and fake husbands using a ChatGDP AI program. But now that specific program is being deactivated, and the femcels are freaking out.

Washington Post staffers thought they were sticking it to Bezos by talking anonymously to other outlets and egging on subscription cancellations. What did they think was going to happen?

Peter Baker
@peterbakernyt

Jeff Bezos wealth in 2024: $194 billion

Jeff Bezos wealth in 2025: $215 billion

Jeff Bezos wealth today: $249.4 billion

Net increase in Bezos wealth since 2024: $55.4 billion

Cost of Bezos's 417-foot superyacht: $500 million

Amazon investment in "Melania": $75 million

Original Bezos purchase price of the Washington Post in 2013: $250 million

Bezos net worth in 2013: $25.2 billion

Net increase in Bezos wealth since buying the Post: $224.2 billion

Last reported annual losses of Post: $100 million

Number of years Bezos could absorb those losses with what he makes in a single week: 5

You reposted

@awstar11

Now do WaPo financials year over year.

WaPo is a business, not a charity. The audacity of the expectation that Bezos is going to personally fund WaPo's losses year over year is exactly the entitled crap we expect from folks like Baker

The Post lost $100 million in 2022, $77 million in 2023, and $100 million in 2024.

And these upper-class rich bitches all say: Other rich people should put my rich friends on their personal welfare systems.

Confessions of a Conservative
@TwisteChristian

A modest proposal: Perhaps @peterbaker and all the other hack journalists bitching and moaning should donate to keep the WaPo as it was, put their money where their mouth is so to speak?

Their entitlement is infinite, their contributions are nonexistent.

20 Ok.

Not much surprises me anymore (This is a lie! You are surprised daily!)

However the thought that girls/women?/females of some subtype are in love and declare imaginary ?men/males/penis holders their boyfriends or husbands has me now running to find this on reddit. I mostly read reddit for Markle snark (look under Saint).

Do they have imaginary funerals? Apply for imaginary social security? Write imaginary obits? Wear Jackie Kenney widow's clothing for life? Tell their fake babies (there are women who have fake newborns, with carseats, etc)?

What on earth? I thought this was only in Japan with men having plastic blow up dolls.

Sometimes I think I should become Amish, get a cow (which is illegal in this county, plus I have never milked one but could, I feel sure), and go offline forever. But now I will look for this on reddit. Thanks, Ace!

I thought reading reddit about the crazy trans mothers freaking out after Trump was elected was pretty entertaining, but this might top it all!

Let's bet that they are taking videos of themselves weeping with snot shooting out of nose piercings. Before I go Amish I still want to know what happens with that deal and a bad sinus infection.

Our local communist rag that masquerades as a newspaper has changed hands many times (you mean it's hard to make money with a communist paper in a conservative/libertarian state? Huh!).

Brauchli, con't: "The Post occupies a singular place in American journalism. It needs visionary and independent stewardship that is equal to its journalism, worthy of its promise and necessary to meet this important moment in history."

-------

That should be past tense: occupied.

I recall the glory days of Watergate. It turned out that Woodward and Bernstein publicized leaks from a disgruntled FBI official ( 'Deep Throat') who decided to leak information about an ongoing FBI investigation, because he was enraged about being passed over for for promotion. He used them, they were saps. The FBI investigation of the Watergate burglary continued just as it would have if the two saps had never written about it.

"Singular place in American journalism."

83 I just heard and old time radio program, the reason it still exists, it was recorded on disk in the 1950s for play overseas via armed forces radio services. Anyway, they had some of the ordinary commercials replaced with more military minded stuff - the history of different state flags, or exploits of medal of honor winners.

Anyway again. One recurring theme is “Democracy”. The narrator claimed it is responsible for freedom of speech, freedom of religion etc. I don’t associate those things with Democracy. Not exactly. And the Bill of Rights doesn’t mention Democracy. Nor does the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution.

The government (State Department?) were really big on Democracy after the war, clearly.

90 So, one of the "future of AI" that I saw was, your company will fire the whole team, except for the top performers.

Survivors will be assigned to manage a team of AI agents.
Even if all those agents do a mediocre job, it's still "free." Compared to the salary of a human.
This is especially important for content creation.

So, basically, for the news industry, that means they will be assigned to manage a team, training and managing them until even they are no longer necessary.

This is why they are so desperate to stop deportations. Those are their base now. Oh, and add in that the votes have to be be counted on the day. It's going to get interesting.

I took the high speed train from London to Paris one year on a business trip. There was an issue in our German partner near Cologne so I had to take another fast train there. After solving the issue I had to get back to London and there was no train going to London, so I had to be driven on the autobahn to a disused NATO airbase used for small airlines, take a short flight to a minor London airport, take a metro line into the city and a cab across town to get back to the group.

On other days I yell write at my brother and his friend for reading the secret diary which had a lock they could pick.

I have never wept in the bath, over an imaginary boyfriend or a real one that I can recall. I did, after a rare weep in class with the first breakup of my bf/husband (for no reason he would break up with me x 3 our first year).I wept quietly, teared up,not hysterical, in a cardiac nursing class. My instructor, who was tough and brilliant, told me to basically knock it off in private and I did, never to weep again. And he's real or I have been imaginary married for almost 47yrs.

The first thing I wanted to do with the bathtub weeper was correct her English.

159 Man I am old. What does one get out of an imaginary BF? They send you sweet little texts? and you can pretend to coworkers you have a BF by showing the texts sometimes?

But no sex, no muscle when you have stuff to move. No handy skills when something has broken and you need help fixing it or deciding to discard and replace.

I can't imagine getting more invested in a fake AI boyfriend than as a shield of I have a BF too, with snooty coworkers or girl neighbors.

It also assumed the old "no standing" for election rule violations that the SCOTUS recently struck down.
Where the underlying challenge the SCOTUS implied was valid for standing was that counting ballots after Election Day violated the Constitution.

My daughter was on the law enforcement career track in high school but then BLM happened and she became a medic instead.

But while she was looking at that career, I got a sense of the job market and for new graduates, you take the job that is there. So you work a couple of years, gain the experience, play it safe, and then transfer to a better gig.

251 No one bothered to argue the actual issue with the Calif redistricting.

Calif has a Calif Constitutional Amendment on how redistricting is done. This Initiative was a VOTE to say we are going to ignore the Calif Constitution for a few years, and replace the legal process, with one created by the Democrat party.

A Vote, to suspend the Calif Constitution. The US Constitution guarantees a REPUBLICAN form of Government... not a Democracy.

As far as I've been able to determine, this Key Constitutional Question was never brought up in Court, even by the Calif Repubs who sued this in both Calif and Federal Court.

267 There is a movie I saw some years ago about a British Labour guy who went to Spain and fought with an anarchist unit. The movie does a pretty good job showing how the communists took over the Republic and wound up killing off their leftwing rivals. It's not connected with Orwell's memoir of his experiences in Spain; not sure what literary origins it had, if any (might just have been an original screenplay). Do you recall seeing this film A.H?
