Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Rant![]() Charles is off on holiday. What does it mean to you? What does it mean to your loved ones? It was fairly simple to answer those questions just a few short years ago. And deep down in my heart I believe the majority of people would have agreed upon the following three: 1) Life 2) Liberty 3) Pursuit of happiness Our country, the redheaded step-child of Great Britain rebelled. And that revolution gave birth to a country built upon guts and rugged individualism. A country built upon the rule of law, Judaeo/Christian beliefs and the credo of treating another as ourselves. Over the past 250 years our country has made mistakes. But we have always attempted to learn from our mistakes and proceed accordingly. It is my humble opinion that the United States of America is broken. It is broken and it will not be repaired in my lifetime. And if the violent left keeps the flames burning it may be replaced in my lifetime. Somewhere along the line, citizens and non-citizens alike have completely rejected the 3 principals mentioned earlier. Political assassinations have occurred throughout history. Besides the two attempts on President Trump's life. The most recent besides Charlie Kirk, to my memory was that of Minnesota legislator Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark Hortman. It was a despicable act, it doesn't matter that she was a Democrat. “The harm caused by Boelter’s actions was not confined to any one place—it was felt widely, including here in Minneapolis. His conduct endangered the safety of our communities and undermined trust in police. We are thankful to our U.S. Attorney’s Office and all federal, state, and local law enforcement that have worked tirelessly to hold this killer accountable,” said Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara. He has a tad more testosterone than Portland Police Chief Bob Day Minnesota (And all other sanctuary municipalities) is telling the rest of law abiding Americans to fuck off. Some of them have told Americans to fuck off and die by looking at the amount of Americans killed by illegal aliens. This is what a "peaceful protest" looks like and a protected 1st Amendment right, amirite? You cannot get to pick and choose what laws you enforce. Elections have consequences. However, it is never the civilly and/or criminally immune elected officials who ever stand trial for the chaos they have unleashed upon their community. The enactment of Sanctuary Municipality laws are harmful and not an act of being united. But not content to learn any lesson from the two avoidable deaths of criminals, The Philadelphia DA has vowed to hunt down ICE agents. That is Third World Shit Hole legalese. And when someone who has listened to this enabler causes physical injury, death and/or property damage. The perp will be dealt with, hopefully. But Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasnerr will not feel one ounce of guilt or face any legal repercussions. If the State of Minnesota and the local communities of Minneapolis/St. Paul region had not enacted Sanctuary City laws at least two people would be alive today. And a number of people uninjured. But, it isn't only politicians who must fear for their lives. Now businessmen must keep their heads on a swievel. United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson gunned down. A red notebook was recovered by police at the time of his December 9 arrest at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania. In diary writings contained in that notebook, Mangione vents about his frustrations with the health insurance industry and his intent to carry out an attack. The entries also shed light on Mangione’s focus on the court of public opinion and how he intended to gain widespread support through the alleged killing. The new filing from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office is a response to a motion filed last month by Mangione’s defense team seeking to stay or dismiss the New York case against him. Mangione has pleaded not guilty to all federal and state charges against him.A horrible crime committed by one person topped off by people who applauded and donated money full of evil and hate. Luigi Mangione support fundraisers, merchandise yanked by GoFundme, Etsy And if you think that the judiciary branch is going to come to the rescue, you are incorrect. Now we have judicial nullification WASHINGTON (TNND) — A judge in Minnesota is currently facing backlash for overturning a conviction of over $7 million of a couple who were found guilty of misusing Medicaid funds to fund a rich lifestyle. Abdifatah Yusuf, 44, was charged last year and found guilty in August 2025 after he and his wife faced allegations of stealing millions of dollars from the Medicaid Program and Minnesota, according to The New York Post. While Yusef and his wife were stealing from the program, they were also operating a healthcare business from their houseI wonder why the judge just didn't dismiss the charges altogether instead of wasting tax payer money. Magistrate Judge Douglas Micko said "Hold my chablis". I just won't issue arrest warrants. The Eighth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Jan. 23 rejected the DOJ’s emergency petition for a writ of mandamus after Minnesota Chief District Judge Patrick Schiltz refused to issue five more arrest warrants related to the protest. In a Jan. 23 letter to the appeals court, Schiltz said the DOJ had requested arrest warrants for eight people on Jan. 20, but Magistrate Judge Douglas Micko issued warrants for only three, finding no probable cause to arrest the remaining five. The five individuals allegedly entered the church and yelled “horrible things at the members of the church” but committed no violence, according to the judge’s letter. “It is important to emphasize that what the U.S. Attorney requested is unheard of in our district or, as best as I can tell, any other district in the Eighth Circuit,” Schiltz said, referring to the DOJ’s request to review Micko’s denial of arrest warrants. And of course a judge appointed by George W. Bush is making ICE's daunting job even more treacherous. HEARING CANCELLED We haven't even touched the nuts and fruits of California. How united do you feel with a one party state that resembles China when it comes to freedom? How united are you with a state that does everything possible against you? How united are you when health care professionals deliberately post and encourage criminal acts online? Our country is 38 Trillion dollars in debt. There is no sense of urgency about this in either party. The DNC operates as an extension of the Communist Party with the flair of Islamic barbarism. The left believes they can pick and choose laws which to obey or enforce. The followers of the Democratic party hate this country, loathe capitalism, despise Christianity and everything else which has made this country the greatest country on earth. Any statements made by elected Democrat officials do not portray any type of unity or hopes of unity. And most of the elected Republican officials roll over and play possum. Is it time to let it burn? That my friends, isn't the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness. May God bless the United States with wisdom and common sense. Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

An untethered currency, a reserve one at that, has allowed the government to export inflation for decades. They have an unlimited checkbook, or near enough anyway.
That’s what drives most, if not all the insanity, get right down to it. They conjure up “money” and subsidize things they want, and punish the rest with excessive regulation, taxation, and there is no safe haven. Maybe gold, which is north of $5000 when it was $20 less than a hundred years ago. Anyway, it doesn’t matter how many laws there are if they won’t enforce them. Too many people make bank on all these scams. Myriad scams. Posted by: Common Tater at January 29, 2026 11:12 AM (OrWo5) 35

I still think Trump should have focused attention on the judicial coup on day one. It would likely reveal whether some of his cabinet picks and other appointments were up to the task at hand. And clarified whether or not certain appointments were a mistake, as has been debated here.
The focus on international issues, specifically the drug cartels and Iran has been a distraction from what I think is a more compelling problem.... the judicial coup. It has hamstrung the administration's goal of riding the country of the illegals and properly dealing with an increasingly violent left. It's almost to the point where it will define Trump's second administration as a partial failure if he doesn't get the judiciary under control. And pave the way for more horseshit in 2028. >>It was a despicable act, it doesn't matter that she was a Democrat.
Oddly, I think it does. Thanks to the revelations within the MN Signal chat, we know that several MN state senators, candidates, Walz (former) staffer are leading the ICE out operation, and have cooperation with some in law enforcement (to get one the spot ID on license plates). In this context, it becomes clear that the MN (and likely other states?) Democrat party is a tightknit, coordinated and organized insurgency that is willing to take out one of its own members if they go against their interests within hours of her vote. This is serious business, and that killing no doubt sent a strong message to the rest of them: ride or die time. Posted by: Lizzy at January 29, 2026 11:21 AM (0yjaw) 66

If you need a white pill this morning on the ICE stuff:
Some autist on X dug into the anti-ICE violence, and found it can all be traced to 9 counties in the US. Only 9! Florida and Texas are doing the lion's share of deportations and ICE roundups, one figure said TX has done 25% of all deportations. And yet, no violence in TX or FL. Because the leaders in those states don't tolerate it. The left is trying to make the MN violence look like the norm. It's not. Not even close. And all of the work they do to make a shell game so we focus on the violence and not the fraud doesn't make the fraud go away. But Walz and Omar and the legacy media are trying, bless their hearts. I still can't get my head around Omar owning a fake winery when she's Muslim and supposedly doesn't drink alcohol. I can't with all her fraud scams. The failure for locals to cooperate with federal authorities put everyone in greater danger.
That’s why ICE has to go out in public to perform their job. The cocksuckers in local jurisdictions refuse to make this a simple transfer at a jail or courthouse. This is a “strategy” and purposeful. They want dead people, so they can wave a bloody shirt. In defense of illegal alien gangbangers and rapists, murderers and assorted trash various countries have unloaded on America. The Democrats crafted a way to monetize all of this. So they will fight it, enlisting the aid of the propaganda outlets, and the usual suspects. To answer your question, MisHum:
>>> The United States of America. What does it mean to be an American? What does it mean to you? What does it mean to your loved ones? To my immigrant grandparents who came here with nothing, and left a country that did not support their chosen religion, it meant religious peace, and a chance to pursue happiness as they saw fit. It not mean a handout. It did not mean being free from discrimination. It did not mean being free from poverty while they scrimped and saved for their better future. But it meant they got to try. It was an opportunity, not a guarantee, at a better life. This is why reading about all the illegals coming here and getting unlimited benefits--heck, even the legal immigrants or refugees coming here on legal Visas--and snapping up welfare and tax Bennies absolutely infuriates me. It makes a mockery of the sacrifices my grandparents made. They never resented America once, never once griped that they didn't get a handout and they sometimes got mocked for their accents. They were some of the proudest Americans I knew. They taught me to take pride in America! And I love them for it. Posted by: LizLem at January 29, 2026 11:35 AM (gWBY1) 111

The State Department formally determined this month that the Palestinian Authority paid more than $200 million to terrorists and their families in 2025, the same year PA president Mahmoud Abbas claimed he ended the "pay-to-slay" program, according to a nonpublic notice provided to Congress and obtained exclusively by the Washington Free Beacon.
Rather than ending these payments, the PA shifted to a new system that it hoped to hide from international donors at a time when the Ramallah-based government is jockeying for a role in postwar Gaza, the State Department disclosed for the first time. Israeli intelligence assessed that the PA funneled $144 million to terrorists and their families in 2024 and committed at least $214 million through 2025, while the State Department determined that the payments continued from March to August 2025 under a purportedly reformed welfare system. A large mob of protestors surrounded a restaurant in Los Angeles after mistaking airport security workers for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
The demonstrators gathered outside of Ten-Raku, a Korean BBQ spot in Lynwood, on Wednesday night after hearing reports that federal officers were allegedly inside. In reality, they blared airhorns and whistles and shouted at off-duty TSA officers who were just trying to enjoy dinner, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office told the Daily Mail. When confronted about mistaking the airport staff for ICE, one irate demonstrator gave the excuse that people get 'emotional' and make 'mistakes,' noting that ICE does the same when they arrest people. Posted by: Martini Farmer You start to run up against 1st Amendment there plus the 10th. States and their local governments are under no compulsion to carry out duties for the federal government. Ironically it was a case involving the Brady Bill an interim background checks that made that ruling. If the feds allow, states and localities can help enforce federal law, they have concurrent powers over public safety as most have laws requiring protests to follow time, manner, and place restrictions, etc. But realistically, that is all you can get. And btw, states cannot prohibit localities and their officials in MN from assisting federal officials even if the state does not. 8th Circuit precedent out of Missouri Firearms Constitutional Amendment case. I don't know what the solution is, but "divorce" probably isn't it. If there were some real, fundamental dichotomy underlying it all, it would make sense. One faction wants to be a republic, the other wants to be a monarchy. One wants fiat currency, one wants a physical standard. Rational, debatable stuff. whig how does the ruling in that Missouri firearm case relate to things like SB57 in CA and what I think are laws in several states forbidding cooperation on immigration enforcement to all agencies in a state? Not aware the feds have brought suit, would seem it would be easy if that case covers this issue. Don't even recall how SB57 turned out, couldn't believe DOJ sued over it since my understanding was what you summarized, feds can't compel state activity in these matters.

Brett Cooper had a good rundown on the mad bills that the VA legislature and executive branch is trying to shove through, on the unsuspecting Virginians who thought they were voting in moderate democrats. There is no such thing, spoiler alert!
Apparently a huge amount if bureaucrats rent out properties to the government. So we the taxpayers are paying their bills. Brett said a new bill in the VA legislature would allow Virginia bureaucrats to use taxpayer dollars to PURCHASE property. So the VA legislators want to be able to buy property using our taxpayer money, and the rent it back to our government and get another check from Uncle Sam. There are soooooooo many scams out there!! Jan 27 (Reuters) - Sales of fully electric cars surpassed those of petrol-only vehicles in the European Union for the first time in December, data from the auto industry group ACEA showed on Tuesday, even as hybrids held onto the largest overall share of the market. ... "It will still take around half a decade before pure electric cars genuinely overtake combustion-engine models across the region, but this is nonetheless a start," ... Fully electric vehicles made up 22.6% of cars registered in the EU last month, edging out petrol cars on 22.5%. Gasoline-electric hybrids, including plug-in hybrids that can go limited distances on battery power alone, were the top group with 44%. I suppose it's important to make a certain distinction. We're dealing with saboteurs. We're dealing with enemy action. We're dealing with people who willfully despise and subvert the system. Coming up with some mythical "better system" will never fix that. It's a cultural issue. We need a culture that bitterly hates fraud. That bitterly hates deceit. We've been browbeaten into accepting the unacceptable, and even thinking it's actively perilous for anyone else to dare not accept it themselves lest that somehow cause problems for us indirectly.

Part of the problem (and it's arrogant of me to assume that being a descendant of Burke gives me the wisdom to criticize his legacy) but Conservatism is simply not robust enough to counter Marxism.
It's a passive ideology, always on it's back foot defending... tradition. The Left is the quirky aunt telling you to dive off the cliff. The Right is the strict Father warning about the 5 ways this can go horribly wrong. We're always in a Prevent Defense, and anyone here who follows football knows you can't that for 4 quarters and win. We spend generations cataloguing the mistakes of the past so future generations don't repeat them. Does it ever occur to us that WE are the ones the warnings were meant for? The goal is not to endure the gulags, Solzhenitsyn did that already so that he could warn us not to love Dignity more than Liberty. There's no need to burn in the camps again, we need to put down the quill and pick up sword. Because there's a bigger problem. If we are ineffective, something will take our place to fight Marxism. And to do so, it might become the stuff of nightmares. We have an obligation to ensure that monster isn't summoned. Posted by: Fen at January 29, 2026 12:39 PM (ciYHQ) 244

The left overplays their Pretti hand by using AI generated images in Congress and making him into some apple pie and hotdog American when he was actually a violent commie agitator commiting assault on LE weeks prior. Would be a good chance to show the people how easy this can be. Follow up by putting Waltz and Frey and the Somali clan in prison for fraud.
Noem is out of MN(no problem with that) but you can't have her step down. The Bovino Bro can just go somewhere else. But of this is just words and MN keeps doing commie BS and giving the finger to the admin and the Republic....and Trump just lets it go....well, that would be a huge loss and condems us to 6+ months of violence and coordinated rioting and insurgency. I love what Trump is doing but I afraid his type of leadership is not going to be the new normal. Vance will be, DeSantis will be good. But as administrators, they won't move the needle like Trump.
I liken Trump's term to the period when the Devs step into a game that become broken, fixing all the bugs and exploits, and it's great. Trump has made systemic changes to the battlefield - disabling the election fraud machine, killing USAID funding of anti-Americanism, handicapped media propaganda - that will give us a fighting chance. I almost resent the attention he gave Iran because there is so much he could fix domestically and so little time. 3 years and then the Marxists and Vichy Republicans will think it's safe to come out from under their rock. * I may be selling Vance short, I hope I'm wrong and he has the stones to effect significant change Posted by: Fen at January 29, 2026 12:58 PM (ciYHQ) 246
