- paper ballots, hand or machine tabulation
- in-person voting
- voter ID
- AND a systematic constant scrubbing of the voter registry
Then the only thing that having one-day voting does is give the Democrats a short time window to fuck with red precincts.
We've had early voting in this country for over 100 years. It's not going away.

1) The older talking point is that if people weren't stopped from voting D in blue areas they all would. So if there is less then a 100% turnout in urban areas it is prima facie evidence of voter suppresion
2) The newer talking point is that illegals should be able to vote, so if there are, uh, additional votes in the totals it just makes up for those people's votes being suppressed.

No, the idea that other than one-day voting will prevent fraud is farcical. For other than presidential, elections can be thrown out and re-done, for one. Not sure about state-level, but likely most states have this option. A few congressional primary and general elections were do-overs even in recent years.
The safeguard in presidentials is of course the completely abandoned one of congressional certification. Even without the J6 nonsense, note that the GOP was quivering and unwilling to use this power in 2020.
Election integrity requires all pillars to be solid. Registry, voting process, tabulation.
"Early" voting has another obvious gigantic problem unrelated to election integrity. And I don't mean the slam-dunk consitutional problem for federal elections.

Nothing will prevent fraud. But having 1 Election Day will greatly reduce it. Allowing ballots to sit around for weeks or months allows all sorts of fraud to happen.
Plus people can vote in person using fake IDs (if they’re even required)10-15 times a day for several weeks vs just one day..

"Early" voting wasn't AFAIK a significant thing in federal elections until the 90s. And it's absurdly, comically unconstitutional - which is true of many things, but no reason to surrender on the narrow and easy cases.
Voting "season" just expands the voting process vulnerabilities and workload, while delivering ...... absolutely nothing of value. Hopefully it will be killed constitutionally (on the federal level), obviating the need for a mostly politically dead society lorded over by an utterly useless political class to do it the hard way.

Because simple mechanical tabulation mechanisms using paper ballots work, results are infinitely repeatable/testable, and machines can be infinitely tested and calibrated.
Paper ballots and hand counts/mechanical counts (no electronics or software involved) offer zero opportunities for tabulation fraud. Ballots can be "lost", sure, but there's no perfect system. This system is very robust against fraud. With web-cam recording/access of every step (obviously should be required), it probably represents the best that could be done.

My theory on that is that Lara Trump was ready, and had lawyers and poll watchers ready to jump immediately on the problem...(unlike 2020, when the Trump team was unprepared to counter, and merely whined about the unfairness). The Dems never pulled the trigger to activate the early morning vote drop for fear of it blowing up on them.

I tend to credit Michael Whatley for it. He was one of the key "2020 election was fraud" guys on the right that the RNC kept at arms length until Trump finally took control of the organization (and then made co-chair with Lara).

If we have to have early in-person voting, I’d argue that it still needs to be a very short time, such as two days, and it needs to be continuous. The polls open at 7 AM or whatever on Monday and close at 8 PM or whatever on Tuesday. Same equipment, same place.
There should be no “early voting period” and then “day of voting period”. Just voting, one system. What we have now allows for so many vectors of surveillance and attack it’s impossible to believe they’re not being exploited.

I think the main vector of cheating is the mail-in vote. That's because the mail-in votes are not counted until after the Election Day voting is done. Once they know who all voted they created the fake mail-in ballot of remaining non-voters (and lets face it fake registrations) and ship them in. I suspect there are mail-in vote creation centers around the country. There is a reason why they want mail-in votes to be counted days after Election Day and that is because it requires time to manufacture the ballots.
