A Maryland woman has been arrested after being caught on surveillance video throwing a large rock through the front window of a home with a Charlie Kirk flag, just barely missing a child inside.
The woman blamed a “raccoon” for her lack of self-control.
According to a press release from the Takoma Park Police Department, officers responded to a vandalism report last weekend, where the homeowner reported that a woman approached the house on foot, stood on the sidewalk, and hurled a rock at the front window before leaving a note and fleeing.
The story went viral after Libs of TikTok posted the surveillance video and note left by the deranged woman on X.

So far, the nasty stuff hasn't gotten here (Greenville County, SC) yet. Clean radar all over the local area. The local guys and Wundermap put out a "future radar" thingy, which is a short term extrapolation of current conditions evolution. For the last hour it was showing the nasty stuff getting here in the next 10 minutes, but come 10 minute nothing.
Now, it has pushed it out to close to 12:30AM. Zooming out, still pretty much clean over GSP's regional "County warning area" of responsibility.

A shout out to the tropicaltidbits.com guy. WHile GFS (Global Forecast System) is your tax dollars at work, and public and free data, the Euroweenie is not so free and public. They've opened it up over the last few years, but still not to the extent of the GFS. You have to pay a YUGE license fee to get the fancy output. The tropicaltibit people get the free data, plus some they pay for, but not much. They basically get a big dump of numbers, and do the rendering themselves.
That's a lot of work and effort.

Guys would go buy them and we'd put them in ice in our bathtub. Someone brought ice. I had nothing to do with the plan. This is how fancy we were and this was normal for everyone.
Two lines formed in our large apt. One for the loo, and one for beer refills, which was the faster of the two.
I think now, in my refined style, this would put me off a bit. But back then this is how we did it. I don't recall paying a dime for the beer, but someone did. My roommate and I provided the venue. I also don't recall any food, only beer.
I would make a good Dem as I don't recall a lot.
There was a huge camping trip at the end of spring semester and my fellow nursing student friend send me photos recently that she took of me and others. The university and our college merged into one party amoeba. I don't recall how I even got there or how I got home, but I was there and grinning and happy in my bikini. I remember brief snaps of diving off a cliff, swimming, etc. I was very good and not dating, but I also don't remember where I slept except for one night with my friends. None of them would have let me get into trouble.

I'm hoping for sleet to begin with, and the last GFS run showed that before transitioning to freezing rain (ZR in the lingo).
We've got a damnable warm nose afoot. Cold air damming jams in a surface wedge of that cold air, but that moist mess from the southwest rams in, goes over the top, and then starts precipitating. So, snow melts in that warm nose, then comes down to the sub-freezing surface layer.
If it can refreeze before it hits the ground, you've got sleet. If it doesn't, you got the dreaded ZR.

A few things- carrying a firearm, and this was just an sig, isn’t a big deal. Also, having one magazine in the gun and an extra really isn’t that bizarre. This is not the argument- the argument is when you are armed, you do not act a fool in front of police officers. But, the boys at GSP say this one is different, and that warm advection is "formidable". Insert a bunch of Star Trek style meteorological jargon for the reason.

Good question! I have never really thought about it. I expect speed has something to do with it, and maybe they are almost impossible to cross-thread, which would destroy two joints of pipe, and also waste a lot of time.

I was just studying one of those time lapse radar maps for the storm, zoomed out to look at the country, and now I’m hopeful East Texas is going to miss most the precipitation, the storm is massive, but it looks like it’s moving along a line stretching from Oklahoma to southern Pennsylvania.

As far as I am aware, Tokoma Park, MD is the only Municipality in the country that actually held a vote (back in the 1990's) to allow non-US citizens to vote in their local elections. It actually passed, just barely.
Other places allow it on local elections (especially in California) but it was never voted on. Just entered onto the books by fiat.

We're supposed to start getting hit in around 4 hours; the storm is predicted to last over 36 hours. It's been in the teens all day and is currently 15F. I watched as many angles of that that whole incident. St. Alex started out in the middle of the street, confronting the ICE agents. A few moments later he's on a curb with two women. ICE agents appear to get busy in attempting to arrest the women. At that point, St. Alex appears to insert himself into the arrest by getting in between the women and the ICE agents. It's at this point that St. Alex gets 100% of the ICE agents attention. After that, everything becomes obscured by the mass bodies taking him down. It's impossible to tell if he brandished the weapon or if the agents inadvertently discovered it in the scuffle. All that seems clear is that a weapon was discovered and an ICE Agent yelled Gun! And just like that St. Alex of 9mm joined St. George of Fentanyl and St. Renee of Runaway as Minnesota martyrs.

It will get down to 0℉ tomorrow morning, and stay cold until Monday morning, which is forecast to be -6℉.
The forecast snow from the National Weather Service of 1-2 inches is way off. I have about 6-8 inches. It is light and fluffy, and I will drive out without shoveling or getting help from a front-loader.
Power has stayed on.
I hope and pray all 'Rons have similar good news.

That area of the Twin Cities is filled with relatively decent people. I lived in that area for five years, and this area is considerably different than Minneapolis proper.
With that said, the same could be said about Edina when I lived there in the late 80s and early 90s, and yet today Edina has been overrun with woke dirtbags, so it is possible Wayzata and Plymouth have degenerated as well, though I hope this isn't the case since I know quite a few people who made their homes there.

Got into see the urologist quickly and it turns out to be an infection, not testicular cancer. Weird. Antibiotics should take care of it.

My setup back home in Alberta consists of the generator, and a short "death cord" (male plug on each end) to connect it to the 240 volt welder outlet in the garage. The drill in the event of a power failure is: pull the switch on the service pole. That disconnects the house and outbuildings from the pole transformer, but leaves them connected together. Plug death cord into generator and welder outlet. Start generator. Throw breaker in the garage panel for the welder outlet to "on". All the lights should now come on. Turn off all non-essential power users to conserve generator fuel and avoid overloading generator.

I got the "death outlet" instead. Small weatherproof box with a 50A twist lock four prong male device.
That goes to another small weatherproof box with a disconnect (normally open and locked out so the death outlet is cold). Cord from house to generator is just a heavy 240V 50A extension chord.

I’m about as far from an expert on plumbing as you can get, so hopefully someone here will correct me, but unless it gets warmer at night where he is I would be more inclined to leave the main on and let water drip through the cold faucet.
Turning the main off because the hot water isn’t working seems likely to freeze at the main instead of between the split off of the main and the hot water as it is now.
But it probably depends a lot on where the split occurs.

If the water heater is in an unheated attic, crawl space, or garage, I would leave it on, otherwise it might freeze solid, and that would destroy it.

Counter on an outside wall? If so, open the cabinet doors, and direct the air from a small electric fan heater into the cabinet. Galvanized or copper pipes can split if they freeze hard. PEX and PVC have a little stretch in them. If the freeze has gone on too long, a quick thaw may save things.

Also let all the cold water taps drip also to keep them from freezing. Dad had this sort of thing happen a couple of winters because the hot water feed was on the exterior wall with little insulation.
If he hears running water when it warms up a bit, he can shut the water off at the street or the house shut off, so he can call a plumber.

Yeah, I have stayed in places like that. If the water heater is full of water, with none going in or out, leaving it on shouldn't hurt for a few days. Long term, enough water could evaporate to expose the element, which would then burn out.

That case had a fascinating ending; there really should be a movie about it. The bikers said that the police made all the invitations to the various groups, and the police units were all pre-positioned, and that the police started shooting first to get everyone to unholster their weapons.
Sounds far fetched, right? Except that at the first trial, the first guy tried was found innocent because the PD refused to provide records he asked for.
Then a new DA took office, gave all the cases a look, and suddenly dropped all 100+ cases with the agreement “let’s none of us ever say anything about this unfortunate incident again.”
Well over 100 arrests. No one convicted of anything. All official records remain sealed.

I missed a call tonight from Bro in-law's phone #. So I texted back when I noticed it, just a few minutes later.
Got the reply: "please call" (BIL is deaf, so we always text!)
So, text comes back "I found this phone" and that BIL's truck is "in the middle of the desert" with "clothes thrown all around" and his phone was there-- no sign of BIL.
I texted back to call police and (whoever) said they would do so.
That was about 4 hours ago & I have not heard anything else yet. Don't know if scam or horrible reality...

You should call your local police. Tell them what happened. Sounds like a scam to me, but the cops ought to be able to geolocate BIL's phone, and get cops local to the area to doa welfare check.

If I found someone hurt, then that wouldn't be the priority, and I touch whatever I needed to to try to help. But no sign of anyone around, I wouldn't touch anything. Now, if I didn't have a phone with me, and I couldn't get to one, I might use the phone, but to call the cops.

Last I heard from BIL, he was headed from S. Idaho to Colorado. (no city mentioned). He had abandoned his damaged 5th wheel trailer at Bliss rest area & gone back to AZ. Then, decided to go back & see if he could get a camera that he'd forgotten-- trailer was still there, 2 weeks later, so he got his camera I guess-- and then was angling to come back here (probably for the winter, not just for a visit). I told him no...
So that's the last I heard from him. I'm worried that he maybe got jumped & his truck stolen?
