44 That looks like Blue Mesa Reservoir as seen the U.S. 50 looking north from the Lake Fork branch inlet. The sailboat is probably headed west toward the marina that's next to the dam. Below that is the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, a marvel of nature that rivals Arizona's Grand Canyon in many aspects.

Invited us to visit for a summer when they rented a house on Prudence Island. I got to take the Laser out a couple times. Lots of fun. Beautiful. And the water is warm enough to swim in!

Yes. Just once as well. Was walking from bus stop to house after being sent home just 2 hours into the school day Superintendent lost his job over sending the kids to school that day. Bus almost went off the road before even getting to our stop, so he definitely deserved it. An eighth-mile walk in blizzard conditions seems very long. Fortunately, the van was parked at the bottom of the hill so sister, neighbor girl, and I listened to the thunder while resting out of the wind for a few minutes before finishing our walk.

I liked Knives Out so much I decided to check out some other Rian Johnson films and so watched Brick, a noir set in high school. I pretty much liked it although it clearly is not the polished, professional work of his later films. For example, it can be hard to follow based on the high school gangster patter. "Lunch" has a special meaning. Who or where one eats lunch indicates his associates. Also, the film is almost entirely lacking in humor. Shot at his own high school, Johnson said it's not how high was but how it felt.

A bit of home here since I grew up on Narragansett Bay. I love the way Heade captures the light and how it effects colors as a storm approaches. It is a very different thing from regular sunlight. The painting also shows how calm everything gets before the front comes through. The sailboat is moving calmly and the water is flat and dark. Literally the calm before the storm. It's a peaceful summer scene on the protected areas of the bay, probably on the western side. I really like the man and his pup sitting peacefully, watching the weather.

I was tempted to pay whatever it cost, fly up and go to one of the games. But then I would have to go to Seattle. This was a very close call. When I lived in Lower Queen Anne McHugh's was an excellent place to watch the Seahawks - total madhouse. Plus the largest Steeler's fan club in the country outside of PA. Sadly, McHugh's is going to be mort soon.

This particular painting is nicely detailed but it needed a bit of brightener. (There's not enough silvery gray in the background and the lake looks like a peat marsh.)

However, the artist has quite a lovely body of work; birds, flowers & other colorful still-lives. I would consider hanging some of his paintings.
