AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update. Prayer Requests: 11/15 – Sponge posted an update on the “First lady”. She is doing OK from the surgery pain-wise, however it appears her compromised immune system from chemo is susceptible to viruses. She has been spiking a fever all weekend.
12/13 Update – The First lady is doing well. She is still on restrictions but things are progressing nicely. The last mammogram showed clean. They are grateful to all who have been praying for her.
1/7 Update – They send thanks for the thoughts and prayers over the past year. The latest visit with her urologist revealed blood in her urine. The Doc didn’t seem concerned, but there will be more scans of her bladder and kidneys to see if they find anything more serious. 11/20 - Bluebell sent an update on grammie winger - good news! At her appointment, the doctor said her bloodwork is nearly perfect and her cancer cell count is dropping. She is in minimal pain. The chemo is working, thanks be to God! She will go back in 3 weeks for another round of chemo and then they will do a CT scan to see if she can have surgery to clean out the rest of the tumors. She is convinced – CONVINCED – that this is due in no small part to the treasured prayers of friends and family! They gave her weeks, and now she is looking at possible remission.
12/17 Update – Bluebell sent along another update from grammie winger. She has had 4 rounds of chemo, which have fried her short term memory (her words) and caused great fatigue. She was scheduled for surgery this week, but the doctor decided she was too weak, so she will continue with chemo until she is stronger. She apologized for not being around much because she can’t follow conversations, but is praying that will get better once her chemo is over. In the meantime, she wishes to share her Christmas greetings with the “motley crew”, and she appreciates every prayer. 11/29 – From about That Time asked for prayers after a lymphoma diagnosis. From about That Time has already begun chemo, and the kids and granddaughter had fun cutting off a ponytail and shaving hair in preparation.
12/13 Update – The first week of chemo was “like buttah”, but the second week was spent in the hospital, dealing with side effects. 12/3 – Teresa in Fort Worth posted an update. She had an MRI on 12/3, and will meet with the oncologist on 12/4, the surgeon on 12/8, and the surgery on 12/11. This is a good thing, because it looks like more tumors are starting to crop up in her liver. It doesn’t appear to have spread beyond there yet, thank goodness.
12/18 Update – Teresa will have a “pump fill” on Friday, then head out of town. (The fill is just Heparin and saline to keep the pump flowing for the next 2 weeks.) After they are back, the pump will have the new chemo medication. The best Christmas present is, if this pump works, she could go 2-3 YEARS before worrying about the cancer coming back. It is truly a Christmas miracle. She wrote that they are blessed to have such stellar medical care nearby and so many people saying prayers on their behalf. 12/12 – Bulg requested prayers for his wife’s brother’s wife, whose dementia has taken a turn for the worse. This week she entered a memory care facility. He asks for prayers for her, Bulg’s brother-in-law, and their two grown daughters. Bulg also asked for prayers for a woman from church who has cancer, and the woman’s granddaughter, who lives with her. 12/13 – Our Country is Screwed asked for prayers for a dear friend’s 3 week old granddaughter who is battling meningitis. They are waiting on results from an MRI. Another friend’s wife is having kidney issues. She has only one kidney, and it isn’t functioning well. 12/13 – San Franpsycho requested prayers for Mrs. F, who sprained her foot due to a fall on 12/12. 12/13 – FenelonSpoke asked for prayers for retired organist Jessie, for strength and for her to feel God’s love. In the past month Jessie’s daughter has died from cancer, as have her two closest friends from church, whom she had known about 85 years. 12/13 – Schnorflepuppy asked for prayers for his wife. She was diagnosed a few weeks back with inflammatory breast cancer and started chemo on 12/2. On 12/3 she spiked a 104 fever and had to be brought to the hospital, where they discovered pneumonia. She has been in ICU for most of the week, to get her enough oxygen and work on the pneumonia. She is improving, but slowly.
12/22 Update – Unfortunately, the improvement trend has reversed. She has spent the last 8 days on oxygen support. The doctors would like to wean her off the vent eventually, but they need to see more improvement in her condition and thus far, they haven’t.
12/26 Update – Schnorflepuppy’s wife got progressively worse on Christmas Day and started a rapid decline, despite the best efforts of the doctors and staff. She transitioned to palliative care on 12/26 and passed away in the afternoon. 12/16 – Jim in Kalifornia sent an update that surgery went well, and his thanks for the prayers. 12/16 – Banana Dream asked for prayers for his wife, who is having surgery on 12/17 to remove pins, steel, hardware, etc. that was put in a year ago after a really bad break of her ankle. The hardware has caused various nerve issues and inflammation over the last year, so the surgeons will be removing it.
12/17 Update – Banana Dream sent his thanks to everyone who offered prayers for his wife’s surgery. It went well. The surgeon removed most of the hardware. There was one part that was too fused with the bone, so it had to stay in. She is doing well. In about 2 weeks, she should be able to walk and then in 6-8 weeks she should be fine. 12/17 – Annie’s Stew sends thanks to God for notsothoreau, who sends many, many prayer requests from the various comments and postings. Notsothoreau is so diligent and such a sweet person! 12/17 – Weird Dave requested prayers. His parents have realized they need to move to assisted living, but they are 1500 miles from Weird Dave. Prayers for clarity on how to make the necessary changes as efficiently as possible, as well as to find the best place for his parents, that will also work for the entire family. 12/20 – Legally Sufficient asked for prayers for a brother who was having carpal tunnel surgery on Christmas Eve. There was a cancellation, so he took the spot, even though the brother is hosting the family dinner on Christmas Eve. 12/20 – Morgan, longtime lurker, takes tango lessons from Sebastian, whose son, Matias, is recovering from brain surgery. The MRI were read on 12/19, and the surgeons did not remove the entire tumor. Even though the biopsy indicated the tumor was benign, the boy is probably facing several rounds of chemo. Please pray for the boy’s continued recovery in El Salvador. 12/20 – Nurse Ratched requested prayers for her friend T. He is having some unrelenting (probably cancer treatment related) pain and needs comfort – both physically and spiritually. 12/23 – Joe Kidd asked for prayers for his friend, Bill, who is grieving the sudden death of a former girlfriend. They had broken up a few months ago over her alcohol use. Bill describes the loss as the toughest thing life has dealt him. Bill is the sole caregiver for his 90 year old mother and may need to take early retirement to continue in that role. Prayers for comfort, strength, and wisdom are welcome. 12/23 – Prayers are requested for Inspector’s boss, “B”, who is in his early 40s, and is being hit hard by Covid. He went to ER, after coughing so badly that he separated a couple of ribs. The pain in his ribs is so bad he doesn’t want to cough, which increases the odds of pneumonia. Please pray for healing. 12/27 – buzzion asked for prayers for a friend named Christina. Christina has struggled with a lot, including addiction and relapse. Buzzion has not heard from Christina in a while and hopes she is okay. Please pray that Christina finds her way and knows that people love and care for her and believe in her.
1/3 Update – Christina was arrested on 1/3. Please pray for this to be a final wake-up call for her. 12/27 – JB asked for prayers that he would gain peace about what God has planned for his job in 2026. Also, please pray for JB’s estranged son, that he and his household will be saved. 12/27 – San Franpsycho posted a praise report from a former colleague, who has defeated metastasized uterine cancer. 12/27 – BlackOrchid requested prayers for a Navy Veteran uncle who has been struggling with his health the last few weeks. The root cause is undetermined, but recurrent infection/sepsis keeps sending him back to the hospital. It seems to be worsening his dementia, which makes it harder for BlackOrchid’s aunt to handle him.
1/3 Update – BlackOrchid’s uncle (her “stand-in dad”is still not doing well. He will probably need to be put in a LTC facility although they are doing everything possible to avoid this. He is 86, and at the stage where his immune system can’t fight back well. 12/27 – pookysgirl posted that their unborn baby girl, Violet Marie, had passed away. 12/27 – free tibet posted about his diagnosis with Giant Cell Arteritis and subsequent vision loss in the right eye. This is a recurrence of the same from 5 years ago in the left eye. The treatment is not painful but regaining vision is “very iffy”. Thank you all for the prayers. 1/1 – L asked for prayers for her brother Ron, who is hospitalized. Ron has been in and out of the hospital for 6 months. He has a nasty infection in his knee, that will not clear, despite 5 rounds of antibiotics. L and her sister have been run ragged trying to help Ron. 1/3 – Legally Sufficient asked for prayers for the repose of the soul of a boss, who passed away suddenly early Sunday morning. Prayers are appreciated for strength, faith, and understanding for the boss’ wife and all who loved him. 1/6 – Diogenes requested prayers for his best friend since college, who was diagnosed with cancer. Within hours or hearing this, the friend’s son, a man that Diogenes has known since he was a baby, collapsed from what appears to be a brain tumor. The prognosis isn’t hopeful. Please pray for both of these fine men. 1/6 – Commissar of plenty and festive little hats sent prayers of thanks that it was not cancer, and asked for prayers for courage to even set a date to reverse the colostomy surgery. It was a lot to get over the first time! 1/7 11/6 - D sent an update on his wife Susan, and her battle with pancreatic cancer, as well as her recent infection. He sent his thanks to everyone for the prayers. They are helping and much appreciated. Susan’s infection finally has been healed, so she was able to resume chemo. It’s been really rough. To give a very simple example, let us say the operation calls for a very modest show of force, say two fighter-bombers flying top cover over a given point.
How many aircraft does that take? Well, it depends on range, payload, and duration. What I can say is you need more than two. You need at least four, but six or eight is ideal. That's because aircraft break on their own. If there is a threat of hostile fire, the mission requirements increase dramatically.
These nuts figure that all it will take is one ICE agent getting shot or killed and then they win.

Trump is maintaining a continuous campaign, driving deeper into enemy territory. When he hits a pocket of resistance, he leaves a screening force and drives on. What he does not do is whine and obsess about the obstacle.
The cases never go against him. They don't report it, but he wins. He always wins. Even when he loses, he ends of winning because he turns the precedent to his advantage. Anyone who whines about Bondi is a grifter. She's a combination IQ/grifter litmus test.
People who know the law, who know what he is doing have noticed this. Like with Maryland Man. He was supposed to defy the court directly and provoke a constitutional crisis, but kept shifting ground, finding new legal justifications until the case was tied in knots. Now the judge has had it taken away from him, but is still driving forward to claim jurisdiction he doesn't have, and hold Trump in contempt for something that never happened.

Bless you. This is the most important thread here for me, because it is so important and humbling. Yesterday, for whatever reason, technology was my enemy. We had two power outages, my work computer glitched for an hour and my phone decided to take up the slack when I got home. Frustrating!
But also trivial. It is so easy to get lost in the details and forget to hold those we love close and treasure every moment we have with them. I'm sitting in the comfy chair with my cat snuggling on my feet, in warm dry house, and it so easy to ignore these blessings. She is going to have the tests done again in about 6 weeks. Dr is recommending meds, but did drop the news that "this is not a curative", and she'll be repeating this process until...
Been in sort of a fog for the past 24 hours...

107 Prayers please for my brother who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in September. We just learned it has moved from stage 2 to stage 4. The chemo treatments and side infections from surgery have so debilitated him he is considering stopping. Please pray for to his strength and that he opens his heart to God.

Blood cancer - that is not curable (none of them really are), but there are some great treatments now. If you haven't, I would take your wife to a hemo onc (not just a regular oncologist), preferably one that specializes in multiple myeloma and I'd hop on some blood cancer boards. It's not the death sentence it was, even when my mom had it and died in 2020. It's definitely now live withable and in a decent state, at least for a much longer stretch than it used to be...

Pancreatic cancer is a silent killer. Most people unaware until it is too late. Chemo, radiation rarely make a difference. My husband had tumor removed because it was found early due to an u related symptom. But the surgery is difficult, affects the ability to eat. 5 months after the surgery including two months of hospitalization, he died from Sepsis.
So, LaSue, I feel your pain. I don't know why there is not more research being done. Early detection would make a world of difference.

Join the specific groups for the cancer. British folks run this b/c the NHS was so bad, they wanted to know what the world could do and wasn't telling them. Docs are patients here (as are nurses, pharmacists, researchers, CEO,s etc) and it's private and non-identifying, so you can get info.

There has been a rise in “diagnosis” that correlates almost directly to a rise in federal spending, especially through Medicaid, but also in other federal programs that make benefits for autism available.
In case you haven’t noticed, these programs are being uncovered as massive fraud vectors, and the documentation for eligibility is often non existent or greatly subject to manipulation.

Again, join the boards I posted...I have an awful version of MCL (doesn't work for chemo) and those boards saved my life as I rejected my docs 1st 2 treatment plans b/c I knew they'd fail and I'd feel worse. Those folks probably know about all the possible treatments for post-CAR T, failed CAR T, or not possible CAR T, b/c there are some.
And while Anderson is a leading expert, there are many around the US and the world (gonna admit, my therapy was a Chinese clinical to start, never tried in the US b/c it was a cheaper set, but approved in the US)...and that board will get you all of them, as will Facebook...

I urge you to watch RFK's presentation on autism from a few months back. The data he cited was from several states who conducted annual screening for autism starting 50 years ago, long before federal funds were in play.
It's kind of sad to look back at a time when the education and medical establishments were honest, and wanted good data, used standard, consistent protocols because they wanted to understand reality, not push an agenda.

I know a few people who's "kids" are autistic.
The biggest problem worrying them is what happens when they die. Several care for their autistic at home because they can't afford a care facility.
Instead, of wasting money on fake autism claims, it would be nice if the gov't were actually building safe care facilities for the severely autistic.
Not gonna happen but I think it might be a worthwhile use of money, if monitored properly.

Yeah, ignore all Google "life span" data...the silver lining of COVID was so much money got thrown into immune type work that blood cancer research skyrocketed...and while you might not feel lucky, CLL and MM were the 2 cancers that got the most money (mine is rarer so it doesn't get research for it, but steals from the other blood cancers) and made the most jumps, so what is possible today is so much more than what was.
The biggest thing for blood cancers is to keep staying here and staying well b/c treatments are advancing like computer chips used to...so I follow an anti-inflammatory lifestyle which included daily low impact exercise (aka walks) for 50 minutes. The better you feel going into treatment, the better you do.

Morning all. Big news out of Connecticut of all places last night. A federal judge has ordered the state to explain how hiding its voter rolls from the DOJ doesn't violate federal law and gave them a very short amount of time to prove what he knows can't be proved. More than 20 Democrat run states are going to be effected by this ruling.
Getting the voter roles scrubbed before the midterms isn't the sexiest thing in the world but it might be among the most important things.

I've given up trying to have this discussion with people who say nothing is happening or nothing important is happening. This is one of the most consequential times of my life. The tectonic plates of geopolitics are changing so fast with so many ramifications it's mind boggling.

This isn't going after surface level issues or a corrupt judge, this is a direct hit on the structure of the left's power. I'm thoroughly enjoying all of it.
I've given up trying to have this discussion with people who say nothing is happening or nothing important is happening. This is one of the most consequential times of my life. The tectonic plates of geopolitics are changing so fast with so many ramifications it's mind boggling.
One thing that seems to have gotten a little back burnered from the conversation at least temporarily is the massive fraud ring that is being uncovered across blue states. Trump just keeps winning in court, and he's about to peel away even more made-up rulings to unleash even more executive authority. The amazing thing about Bondi's work is that each case comes with multiple authorities. The judge puts a stay on the one thing, so they then do it again under a different authority.
But the stuff is getting done. The border is closed. That is an epic win. Out-migration is happening. That is also huge. And now voter corruption is being exposed.
That's endgame. An honest election will shift many states (like Michigan) from purple to red. That's why the Dems are trying to start a war.

All the Dem NY politicians have issued anti Hamas statements today. This is a response to Hamas supporters standing outside a synagogue and chanting antisemetic stuff.

To be specific, it was a Supreme Court Case, Arizona vs United States (actually Obama) 2012.
Arizona was still red at the time and wanted to enforce immigration law even though the feds wouldn’t. Obama and the 2012 Suprene Court said “oh no you can’t !” I believe Justice Kennedy wrote the decision.

Same here. My daughter started Leucovorin this week. It can’t hurt, and while she is high functioning, her issues are more emotional regulation, sensory issues, and social skills. She also has Dyslexia, and a few other learning difficulties. She said she doesn’t feel any different, however, on day 2, she was much more emotionally charged up than she has been, a side effect I was hoping we wouldn’t see. She also completed every last assignment at school, plus her late assignments. What?!? Her teacher just sent me a text and said she was blown away at the change this week. Psychosomatic and making her lock on more on work? Because my kid was really, really hoping this would be a magic pill for her to be “normal”. Stay tuned.

I only drink one cup of coffee in the morning thus I just have a Keurig machine and I haven’t had a good cup of coffee in years. It doesn’t matter what brand of coffee pods I use they all taste the same.

There are lots of ways to make a single serving of excellent coffee, as you surely know. But they are all more work than K-cups. Not being passionate about coffee and being lazy, that's what I do too.

If you are still here.
Getting into research in just about any field requires a masters degree.
Bachelor degrees even in STEM areas are really just going to get you in at the lowest level. Doing research is considered to be a premium employment space.
Finding a Coop program at a nearby school would really be a good step instead of banging his head against the wall. You want to cram as much education as you can afford in your younger years.
