In Wake of Maduro Masterstroke, American Approval of Ousting Him Surges

Ousting Maduro had been unpopular -- up until the point that Delta Force conducted a miraculously successful armed extradition operation.

Scott Jennings:

"A recent Washington Post poll finds Americans pretty evenly split on the operation over the weekend, 40 percent approve, 42 percent disapprove, 18 percent are unsure," a CNN host read. "When it comes to who should decide the future leadership of Venezuela, 94 percent say the Venezuelan people, six percent say the United States. One thing I have to say is like, this was a very successful military operation. The idea that 42 percent disapprove is a higher number than I would think, it says to be me that the American people are thinking not just about this operation, but also maybe more about well, what comes next."

"Well, also, it's Trump," Jennings replied. "I mean, 42 percent of the American people would oppose it if he cured cancer, personally, in the Oval Office, tonight. I mean, there's a reflexive opposition to Trump. It is the entire platform of the Democratic Party to the extent that that's how their leadership tells them to act. That's how the Democratic grassroots are going to see it."

Below: The poll numbers change completely, and Harry Enten has more bad news for butthurt mentally-ill anti-Trump obsessives: There is no "rift" in the Republican Party. Trump continues to have 85% support from his fellow Republicans.

Tom Massie is now denying that Venezuela nationalized the oil companies and stole oil that was contractually granted to US oil companies. And they stole all the drilling equipment -- rigs, pipes, trucks, all of it -- when they did so.

But when you're an anti-American Blame America Firster -- when you're a Ron Paul peace-at-any-price pacifag -- you have to lie to make your case.

And then there's Maude.

Me-Again Kelly, whom Dave Rubin calls "Grandma Groyper" for her late-in-life turn towards Naziism to remain relevant, continues hosting a parade of hard-left communists and anti-American pacifists to attack America for acting in her interests.

I guess her days of LARPing as Ultimate Trump Super-Fan #1 are over.

Below, she admits that Roger Ailes used to tell her to rah-rah every American military action to pander to the pro-Bush conservative base, and she dutifully put on her pom-poms.

But now, you see, she's an "Independent Journalist," and she no longer does what Roger Ailes tells her to do. Now she does what Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens and Glenn Greenwald tell her to do, and she panders to the hard left pacifag part of the audience.

So you see: She's Brave Now!!!

Tucker Carlson, meanwhile, continues losing what's left of his support.

Dan Bongino reads the riot act to the "black-pillers" and "grifters," announcing that, while he was required to remain silent on them Deputy Director of the FBI, he is now free to blast them as a private citizen podcaster.

Here's why:
The support for the Trump administration in the working world is strong. And people are tired of the endless bullshit from the black-piller, chicken-little grifters. Watch their tactics, and once you see them, you'll never unsee them. They use a couple of different tactics to bullshit you.

-First, they overload you with information but they underwhelm you with evidence. Here's an example of what I mean - they'll try to convince you that John Smith robbed a bank, so they'll data download on you and lose you in the chaos. They'll tell you things that might be true, but aren't evidence of anything. They'll tell you John was in the bank that day. That John knew someone who worked there. That John was arrested ten years ago for a misdemeanor. But they won't tell you that the fingerprints, video and DNA of the thief matches someone else. Solid investigators sift through chaotic information and mine the evidence gems. Charlatans and morons do the opposite.

He means Candace Owens.

-Second, black-pillers will rarely take on the President directly. They know they'll get destroyed by the boss, and wind up in the political graveyard of egomaniacs who thought they could take the President on with bullshit. As a proxy fight, they try to pick off his allies, knowing many of them are limited in the ways they can fight back. Well, I'm back now, and I'm putting this bullshit to a stop.

He means Tucker Carlson. Tucker Carlson, who infamously DMd someone about "hating" Trump with a passion and longing for the day he lost his re-election so that he was banished from American politics, still attempts to pretend to be a Trump supporter, to appease his falling fan base of Trump-Tucker crossover supporters.

But Tucker Carlson plainly loathes Trump and embraces a leftwing, Ron Paul style of antisemitic, conspiratorial pacifism-at-any-cost. Which Trump does not -- Trump says we will act only in America's interest, not that we will let communist shitbags send drugs and gangsters to our country and we can never touch a hair on their heads because we're so devoted to "peace."

So Tucker Carlson pretends his arguments aren't with Trump himself, but with Marco Rubio and Lindsey Graham, who he pretends are the people directing Trump's foreign policy. He's too cowardly to name Trump as his enemy, so he pretends Trump is an empty-headed demented clown like Biden was, and that all decisions are being made by his "neocon," Jew-loving underlings.

Bongino calls this out above, though he does not name Tucker Carlson.

Yet.

Everyone inside the administration I crossed paths with is busting their asses to move the needle on real change. You can do things fast, or you can do things correctly. You can rarely do both in government. Even with those constraints, the administration's accomplishments are breathtaking. I want to be clear on this point, intra-party/movement policy disagreements are healthy and natural. But endless pessimism meant to strategically attack a movement from the inside, is not about policy, it's political cannibalism. And many of these grifters are hiding their real agendas from you. And that leads me to my next point.

-Third, the black-pillers are infamous for telling you an administration policy or action is going to lead to the end of the world, before the policy has even been given time to demonstrate results. You're seeing it now with regard to Venezuela. Will it work out? Maybe. We will all see. But maybe give it a minute before you attack from inside the tent while pretending you're an ally.

That's another shot at Tucker Carlson, who has predicted five of the last zero "WORLD WAR III's," always proclaiming that Trump -- I mean, Marco Rubio -- is going to send "our boys" in to conquer and occupy Iran, Gaza, wherever in the next forever war.

His (insincere) predictions of doom keep not coming to pass, but that doesn't bother his left-wing pacifag fanbase.

Black-pillers and grifters asked for this fight, not us. But I'm absolutely down to fight it. ABSOLUTELY down.

Good. I'm tired of being polite. I want a purge.

And I think I'm going to get one. People are sick of the Nazis and pacifags. I didn't join the GOP so that I could carry placards for ANSWER, Code Pink, and Iran.

I will say, Trump is a gambler. And Venezuela has a FAR bigger impact on American security than "east" Ukraine.

So the only way she can keep the spell active is that she has to do crazy self-destructive things like cozy up to Basic Grifter Candace Owens and Deep State Asset Tucker Carlson.

I feel sorry for you Ace having to respond to media types over the years. There is no truth in them.

These are people that do not look good enough to be in show business so they took the retard theater kid route for fame and fortune. Drama queens without real achievements other than some people like to watch them dance and consider themselves to be informed.

Making people feel 'clever' is their particular con. As you noted above, put a lot of chum in the water and watch the manipulated boob be programmed to come to the conclusion that the news reader wants. Lot harder to do in print because print is forever and easier to fact check than watching a damn video.

I used to get transcripts when I dealt with the media in research from Vanderbilt U. or from Lexis/Nexis because of just that point. I also read faster than I listen and rhetorical theatrical tricks leave me cold. I had to use them to keep classes awake myself during lectures.

Odd definition of "black pill" there.

I usually see it applied to people who think that none of it can "move the needle" because the entire system is predicated on fraud, abuse, theft and violation of the people. That's the "black pill" - that progress is impossible because it's all too broken and dishonest to fix - I am familiar with.

"It's all necessarily disastrous because it must be because they're bad guys" is a new definition to me. That's just run of the mill leftism, not "black pill."

47 I believe El Rushbo commented on his radio show that he stopped hanging around losers, and hung out with winners. Sure, they may have failed, but they got back up, tried again, tried something different, until they succeeded. You stick with losers, they rub off their outlook on you. Especially the thoughts and ideas that you cannot win, the world is against you. Or even overtly sabotaging your attempts to rise up and be a winner.

Much like the Strong Horse, folks like a winner. Look at the difference in fans between a sportsball team that has a winning season, versus one that is failing year after year.

Some folks got tired of all the winning. The Biden adminstration made sure not to win anymore. Even previous admins seemed to have eliminated win conditions - see: war on terror.

But now folks have had the taste of a win again, from a military op that was surgical in design and execution. They want more from Team America.

The ones against it are the die-hards that always stick to their 0-16 losing team.

Doubt it. They'll buy it for themselves, more likely.

I strongly suspect the Venezuelan oil extraction game will change fundamentally. It will be back to what it was at the beginning: American companies with American equipment extracting oil and selling it abroad as it sees fit, kicking a percentage upstairs to the Venezuelan government to do with it whatever it pleases. The government of Venezuela as a silent partner in exchange for a percentage and some amount of job-creation for Venezuelans.

I have no clue what is next for Venezuela. I wish them well. But fuck it, if they want a civil war, I don't care one tiny bit. Whatever happens now is still THIER fault, not ours. THEY elected a communist asshole, who squandered all their money. They allowed it to continue. Maduro crossed us, now he's gone. Let that be a lesson to the next asshole running Venezuela. We have no obligation, none, to run their country or set things right. We should have done the same thing in Afghanistan and Iraq. Tell them what's what, then carpet bomb the place. And if we can, snatch the leader and put a bullet in his head. And...that's it.

We went into Libya twice. Reagan went in, dropped a few bombs. Then sent Quaddaffi a gun camera video of us targeting his tent. He figured it out and got real quiet for the next 10 years. 137 Trump and Rubio are going to get criticism for allowing parts of the old regime to continue to run Venezuela; but it's absolutely necessary unless we want to be forced into putting 100,000 troops in Caracas, which we most certainly do not want to do. Some have thought that Trump was dissing Machado when he said that she didn't have enough respect inside Venezuela to take over at this point; but he was absolutely correct. Harsh but correct. She would have been assassinated in 2 days, 3 days tops, by members of the military or the collectivos, and where would we be? Back having to stick 100,000 ground troops in.

So we've got to control the current government by controlling who they can and can't ship oil to; make sure they kick the Cubans, the Russians, and the Chinese out; control everything going in and out of the country with our task force sitting just off shore, and gradually stabilize them where they're actually able to hold fair elections. At that point, Machado can make an entrance.

151 The Blocked and Reported Podcast is hosted by two liberal journalists who were canceled by the left for not toeing the party line on one or two major issues. (They both are willing to speak out against the transing kids stuff. With data and facts. So canceled.) So now they host a podcast covering news about seeing news that might get people canceled, and giving canceled people voices.

There was a recent podcast, though, where they did a rundown of the Turning Point stuff and the meltdown with conservative infighting. It was cringe how gleeful the hostess was over this! I like them because they are usually cordial. But the glee...not a good look.

How long have you been aware of Cucker?. Because of my background in politics and later study of such, he has been around the block in media for a long time. Started at CNN, went to MSNBC, thence to create his own media corp modeled after the Daily Wire, remember the Daily Caller? Then to Fox, now to a podcast.

Cucker has no principles other than shucking and jiving to whatever makes him a buck. None. You can go back through time and see what he argued and where he suddenly pivoted because he thought the wind was changing.

MeAgain is another such creature. The real dedicated reporters are people like Catherine Herridge or Sheryl Atkinson. They pick a furrow and deepen it rather than chase what is now.

I see this being discussed a lot, even if oil goes down to like $45 a barrel, venezuela would still love to double or triple the amount of $45 barrels they pull out of the ground.

Whether the oil majors do is another matter. They would be happier with less volume at a higher price.

But if you own the oil resources, it's about pulling more out of the ground. You're leaving money on the table.

It’s all ultimately meant to subvert our country, with the reasons for that destruction defined by different motives.

I've seen a couple of good explanations from some in the know today on the difficulties now. There appear to be 3 primary power centers in Venezuela (the cartels may be a fourth) that tolerate each other but which do not necessarily support each other.
First is the Rodriguez faction, Delcy and her brother - they control the Executive and Judicial branches, and most of the official economy. That's who we're supporting for now. Next is the military run by Defense Minister Vladimir Lopez; he supposedly tolerates the Civilian government of Rodriguez, but could overthrow it at any time. He certainly does not take orders from her.

and then there's the guy who controls the Security/Secret Police/armed gangs that run the streets. He might seem to be less powerful than the other two, but if he isn't dealt with he can create chaos across the country instantly.

Paul is particularly inspiring. He gets beat up, chased out of town, stoned until the locals think he is dead. Dusts himself off and goes forth to found another church, fix a previously established one, and write letters of faith and encouragement even in a prison cell awaiting death.

He has an ego, understandably so (one of the few in 2016 to predict Trump would handily win), but he was a huge proponent of the jab. And ridiculed anyone that was skeptical of the narrative we were fed as stupid. He effed up, he trusted the medical industry too much. He realized the error of his ways, and has apologized for it, profusely. So I'd forgiven him for that long before his cancer diagnosis.

It's very hard for people with egos to see when they are being conned. Especially someone who has made a name for himself on how to read through the cons. And after they see, even harder for them to admit if they are wrong. Kudos for him for doing both.

Did UK know about this months ago, and is that why they made a statement (Nov? Dec?) saying they would no longer share intelligence with the USA in the Carribean?

Trump's Christmas Bonus speech--that all the respectable Republicans panned as too angry, too fast, too campaign--was not for them.

2) it was a battle plan.

He laid out not just what he had done, but what he was going to do over the next year--the broad issues that he's going to force 2026 to be about.
As Rubio said, "when Trump says he's going do something, he's going to do it."
Why do people keep doubting him?
Go back and read the speech.
He's going to roll out wins and policies at a steady pace over the next 10 months.
Look at 2024, how he rolled out steady announcements and deft counters to keep the focus and energy on his side.

I see this being discussed a lot, even if oil goes down to like $45 a barrel, venezuela would still love to double or triple the amount of $45 barrels they pull out of the ground.

Posted by: Leupold

No. (not an expert but here is the history)

Back years ago, Venezuela was not considered a big player with big reserves because it cost too much to extract. I think it was Chavez that bitched about this, and said that his reserves were underreported because officially OPEC would not count them if they cost more than $50 a barrel to extract, and that was what Venezuela oil cost. (SIze of reserves was important for setting quotas in OPEC) When prices went up, suddenly Canada oil sand and Venezuela oil was worth extracting and suddenly they had massive reserves.

So at a low price, the oil is not worth even taking out of the ground. Now that changes over time with technology, capital costs, etc.

294 264 I said it at the time but I'll say it again:

Trump's Christmas Bonus speech--that all the respectable Republicans panned as too angry, too fast, too campaign--was not for them.
1) it was an announcement to the troops
2) it was a battle plan.

He laid out not just what he had done, but what he was going to do over the next year--the broad issues that he's going to force 2026 to be about.
As Rubio said, "when Trump says he's going do something, he's going to do it."
Why do people keep doubting him?
Go back and read the speech.
He's going to roll out wins and policies at a steady pace over the next 10 months.
Look at 2024, how he rolled out steady announcements and deft counters to keep the focus and energy on his side.
He is now even more powerful and more focused.

305 Never be confident in your own cognitive processes.

Any talking format is by definition less dense in information than the written word. If you took an hour long program on tv, podcast, radio, etc, it would amount to about the front page of the New York Times in the number of words.

If you are not experienced in rhetoric, it is very easy for 'guests' to slip one by a person and even the host can subtly lead people to the desired result.

These programs are designed to make people think they are clever (see the Dr. Fox effect for example) and by chumming a few facts without much context, the listener makes the conclusion that the host want you to make and voila--easy to form an initial impression that is hard to rebut later.

I spent a fair amount of time around trial lawyers and training yutes in the dark arts because of what I taught. And the oral tradition in the English legal world, is narrative setting of putting facts in such a frame via witnesses and evidence so that the jury is led to the conclusions you want them to make.

The only fly in the ointment is that the opposing side gets their licks in too. Few media programs allow such to be presented.

Posted by: Mrs. Santa's unclean sister at January 06, 2026 04:09 PM (3BEDb)
___________________________________

The whole "refusal to share intelligence was an effort to curb Trump's focus there (Venezuela). The EU and the UK have been courting Canada to diversify away from the US (especially with Heavy Crude). Venezuela's Heavy crude is remarkably similar to Canadas, and opening that market shoots down the UK/EU efforts if it floods the market and lowers the price. It was an empty threat.

Additionally, the UK and the EU are falling all over themselves trying to become relevant in the Russia/Ukraine peace deal. Trump cut them out of the process unequivocally, and since they have been trying to sabotage the process by influencing Zelenskyy. The US just circumvented Russia's Energy deal with Venezuela... and now Trump has negotiation ammo with Russia.

We had an invasion plan for Canada, in case we ended up at war with Britain and had to conquer Canada - and do it fast - to both prevent it from supplying the British enemy and acting as an invasion route for the British enemy.

It was "War Plan Red" and at the time, it was hyper-detailed, like "which roads will we take on our invasion route" detailed. Not because we wanted to conquer Canada as such, but because Canada *must* be taken from the British and removed from her empire if we were fighting Britain.

352 343 You don't have to wait that long. The Biden Presidential Library is projected to raise $19 million by 2027. There will never be a standalone library for that Resident. Biden would be lucky to have UPenn or UDelaware cordon off a couple of floors in a building for it.

I don't care who watches, their podcast sponsors, or their hot takes. I've seen enough of both over time to know that I don't care what they think much, they aren't great thinkers, and they will turn on a dime to backstab the positions they just held if the wind changes.

2)Cucker: I barely heard a word in the 2 seconds as I stared at your frown. Scowl eyes under furrowed brow. You just look stupid and there is no cure for this. Also, not being a shrink, I am betting you have latent homo tendencies to be so laser focused on the issue. Go ahead and wear your bowtie again as it is obvious you bat for the other side.

China wasn't counting on market rate, she was counting on dirt cheap, or free (dirt cheap if everything works, free if Venezuela defaulted and China demanded oil as security in lieu of payment).

China can keep her heavy refineries full, but the economics might not make sense absent the imperial play.

People get paid to be attention-gatheringly wrong on purpose all the time.

When they do it to try and make *me* look bad by association, and discredit the movement that I support which is finally getting some actual momentum for the first time in my own living memory, I get a little tetchy about it.

If they quit Just Asking Questions and started Saying Shit That Has Actually Happened, maybe I'd consider them the same way I do every other babbling jackass newsface on the internet.

But this sick op to keep cramming the "Trump's an antisemite" thing into our timeline is getting tiresome, and the lengths they're going to now to get there is just plain unseemly.

Posted by: Jim at January 06, 2026 04:47 PM (CIngQ)

407 I just researched this Berlin sabotage story. The facility that was attacked is a "power and heat" facility but the saboteurs claim they only sabotaged the power portion.

The "heat" here means a "district heating" system, where a central facility supplies heat (by pumping heated water, or in older systems by sending steam). Say you have a giant coal power plant to make electricity: it's a double win if you collect heat from that and people can heat their homes with the heat, instead of using electricity for the heat.

District heating is rare in the US but does exist in places like New York City.

I learned about district heating when I saw news stories about new "sand batteries" which store heat rather than electricity. Make a big insulated container, put heating elements into it, and fill it with sand. When the wind is blowing and power is really cheap, run the heating elements. Then when it's cold use this as a heat source for district heating.

408 I'm not so harsh on Kelly. I'm OK with her not immediately climbing on the bandwagon, and saying essentially "This smells like regime change, and that's turned out to be a fiasco most of the time." I actually kind of respect it.

My criticism is that it sounds like she wants to see whether it goes well before she says she's OK with it. Why even voice an opinion if it's going to be so far after the fact? She's just essentially taking both sides, so she can say "I was right", no matter what happens.

409 Looks like the resident retard needs some fact checking. I'll start it:
Massie's Position
Massie explicitly acknowledges the nationalization/expropriation in recent posts amid U.S. actions against Venezuela (e.g., strikes, Maduro's capture, and oil access discussions):
He states: "Oil companies entered into risky deals to develop oil, and the deals were canceled by a prior Venezuelan government."
He refers to "projects by Oil Companies that were nationalized by the government of Venezuela two decades ago" (pointing to the 2007 events).
In response to claims of "stolen" oil property, he argues: "It’s not American oil. It’s Venezuelan oil," emphasizing that the underlying resource belongs to Venezuela, and U.S. military involvement risks soldiers' lives primarily to benefit private oil companies seeking compensation or new deals—not the American public.
Massie criticizes U.S. intervention as prioritizing oil company profits and regime change over "America First" principles, but he does not dispute the historical seizures of U.S.-invested assets and equipment. His focus is on opposing military action to "make those oil companies whole again."
