More CBS "News:" CBS Executives Killed an Interview With Elon Musk Because They Insisted They Should Be Able to Edit and Hide What He Had to Say

Elon Musk wanted to do the interview live precisely so they couldn't give him an Asshole Edit and hide his actual words to push their previously-decided narrative.

CBS "news" executives said they would never, ever agree to do that. They need to control the narrative.

This comes from former CBS investigative reporter Catherine Herridge, who left the network, presumably over this kind of absolute bias and corruption.

Catherine revealed CBS passed on what could have been one of the biggest interviews in modern media, not because Elon refused, but because the network did.

She said discussions were underway after her work connected to the Twitter Files, and an opportunity emerged to interview Elon live on his own platform.

That's when everything stalled.

"I went to the CBS executives and I said, this is the opportunity that we have.

He's saying, I want to do it live and on my platform.

He's one of the most influential human beings on the planet.

And the reaction from the executives was, well, we can't do it live.

And I was like, what do you mean we can't do it live?

They said, we don't know what he's going to say.

And I'm thinking, isn't that the point of journalism?

They said it has to be taped.

We have to be able to edit it. It has to be on our platform.

We have to control the platform.

Everything just got shut down.

It was one of the biggest interviews you could ever have.

I felt ashamed. I never went back to Elon to say they want to do it, but only if they can control it.

I couldn't do that to someone whose DNA is free speech."

When Corporate Media Bias Is Baked In

In the fall of 2023, I brought CBS News a proposed interview opportunity with Elon Musk.

CBS Executives said the interview couldn't be done live, rather it had to be pre-recorded so they had the ability to edit Musk and it had to be on a CBS platform.

"We don't know what [@ElonMusk
] is going to say!"

I could not believe what the CBS News executives were saying. Isn't that the point of journalism? You don't know what the person's going to say?

At that time, @cbsnews
was under different management and did not respond to our questions seeking comment.

So here's the obvious truth: "Reporters" want to grill opponents (and they do consider them "opponents") and make them look foolish and ask them questions they struggle to answer.

But "reporters" are themselves pretty stupid. Among "professionals," they're the least intelligent and educated. (And they're very lazy and have very high rates of alcoholism.)

"Reporters" do not want their opponents turning the tables on them and make them look foolish and make them struggle to answer questions.

That's why they insist, absolutely, on the power to edit the interview. To make sure they always come off looking like heroes and always come out on top.

But this is obviously a huge and corrupt deception. Editing an interview to make it look as if your debate opponent (and these are debates, not "interviews") lost is itself a corrupt lie. You are deliberately altering the actual historical record of the event to present a false story to the public.

The edit is for purposes of disinformation -- and a very narcissistic, self-serving form of disinformation.

Congress' primary job is passing a budget. It is not a law enforcement organization. If Congress unanimously passes voter ID reforms, nothing will happen unless it is enforced. What is going on is already illegal, but it was not enforced. Congress actually has very little do with this situation, it will come down to getting the right people in position and rolling up the network of criminality.

Objection! Assumes facts not in evidence. Most of us never actually talk to reporters in person, and while there are some real winners in the teaching profession, there are lots of good ones out there.

Good reporters are vanishingly rare these days. Mostly they cut/paste someone else's news release. I'm struggling to think of teachers dumber than some of the reporters I've met.

That's part of it, and likely the primary part of it.

But there is another part and it has nothing to do with narrative control, it has to do with appearances and ego. They are terrified - constantly, as a continuous presence - that someone will make them look stupid or mis/dis/uninformed.

Going up against someone like Musk is the riskiest thing possible, and not just because they can't selectively edit his responses for narrative purposes. The odds of the interviewer walking away from it *not* looking like a retard also make the entire concept a non-starter.

Frankly, I'm tired of people just blaming the corporation - It's CBS! it's NYT! without naming the specific malefactors here. It's all too easy to blame the company, when it's the actual reporters who write these stories, and actual editors and News Directors who greenlight what the public sees. These people go from company to company, going up the corporate ladder and continuing to spread their poison wherever they go.

If we don’t get more in tune with guys with iPhones on X, we are going to suffer for it. Look, I had a history seminar and every single time someone asked a really stupid question, it was an education major.

But the college paper was of lower quality than the one I worked on in high school. J-school types could never qualify for the class because they literally know no history at all.

I agree with you to a point.

It is also clear, however, that it *is* the organizations. Some person at CBS did this this, but CBS does do these things. It is in their DNA. Specific malefactors should indeed be "named and shamed," but I will take the other side of it and assert that even if they are, the *organization* is still so hopelessly corrupt that it doesn't matter. Get rid of that malefactor, and there's another lined up to take his place and the net-new position that opens at the bottom will be filled with another one.

There is individual malfeasance that I agree should be exposed, but the entire organizations are corrupt to the core. It may well be a distinction without a difference at this point.

60 Years ago there was a homeless guy threatening people in the parking garage downtown, this included assault on a woman. The local news did some on the scene reporting and I agreed to talk with the reporter on camera. I mentioned something about how homeless people were starting to get bold about harassing people and that there should be a greater police presence downtown. When it aired they cut the interview down to reporter asking if I felt safe and my response was "Yes", completely cutting out my real answer. Not sure where I ever said "yes" but they must have gotten it from somewhere.

I get the sentiment that people should quit at the first sight of corruption but in my experience very few do when it's their lives on the line. I've always found Herridge to be a pretty straight shooter, much better than most.

Once, they made up a dead grandfather (who was still living at the time) in order to give the story "an angle." And once, I spent an hour on the phone doing an interview for what I thought was a puff piece, but actually ended up as a hatchet job -- my pull quotes selectively used to make me look like a rube.

I haven't followed her career in any great detail, but she had been very diligent about digging into Dem scandals and trying to get the story to a larger audience.

In a sense, she was pushing them, forcing them to own up to being hypocrites and calling them out on it as much as she feasibly could. Now she's free to unload.

But I think she stuck with it as long as she did because she believed in what she was doing and hoped that management would at some point get a clue.

The only time I’ve ever been interviewed by a newspaper reporter, I was very lucky. I had just purchased a video recorder, and thought it would be kind of cool to keep a video of it just to show my family and friends.

When the reporter walked in and saw the camera it was like a vampire had just seen a cross. She kept saying things like “don’t you trust me”, and I was thinking, well, I didn’t even think about not trusting you until you started asking me to trust you.

The more she talked about “you can trust my notes” the more I wanted to keep that video camera on.

Long(er) story short, she refused to use the interview unless I handed that tape over to her, which by that point I absolutely refused to do, so no newspaper article ever came of it.

Yep and I taught how to direct and cross examine witnesses as part of my job. Coached witnesses as well.

Easy enough to thwart the blow hard lawyers because on cross, you never volunteer anything, never speculate, never insinuite knowledge you do not have, and keep your opinions to yourself (expert witnesses are different but they get paid to do well as witnesses). On cross, you still to the bare bones facts of the matter and ignore attempts by attorneys to get a rise by insinuition of misdeeds, pretending to be your buddy, and slimy attempts to disqualify you as a witness.

Direct, you follow the attorney lead and be succinct in your answers because any additional or extraneous statement gives an advantage to the crossing attorney to exploit.

Smart lawyers figure out the honest and succinct cross witness is the hardest nut to crack and often speedily dismiss them. Stupid ones blow in like a battleship and often put the jury on the side of the witness.

I've been phone interviewed by a hostile insurance company. When I was a teen in college. Some joker rear ends me while I was stopped for construction. Messed up his car. Had almost no effect on my big bumper 77 nova. A few days later I get this call asking me to explain my fault in the accident. No, I then started laying out how the idiot wasn't watching, obviously, and hit me. Then the guy just hangs up. Funny thing, the guy who hit me was an engineering student in some of my classes. That was awkward.

At one time I trusted Jennifer (can't think of her last name because I am tired from babysitting).No more.

Now I trust Herridge as well as independents like Nick Shirley. Thank goodness for them.

It is a pity about FOX, because I used to trust them as well. I remember praying for brave Catherine Herridge when she gave part of her liver for her baby boy. Prayed for Botox Bret Baier's son as well. We watched them faithfully til the 2016 debate when I declared I was done. It took my husband a bit longer to abandon them, but he did.

Catherine is very intelligent, cuts to the chase, and has my respect forever.

Thanks for all you do, Ace, my love. I am currently exhausted from the holidays and have tomorrow "off." I may spend the day in my pj's & robe.

For dinner last night we had Hoppin' John (black eyed peas and rice), Emeril's collard greens & corn bread. Like good Southern stock. My husband is from Long Island and cooked this New Year's Day dinner (started New Year's Eve). So he's sold on it as well for tradition. Goes back generations.

I'm not sure why. He was an actor, a comedian, a martial arts fighter... no, he's not a genius. If he was he'd be wearing glasses with tape in the middle, solving the world's problems, one beaker at a time.

But nobody seems to feel the to ever preface their comments about anyone in corporate media: I know Shep Smith is no genius, but...

Or Walter Cronkite or Rachel Madcow or Regis Philbin or Pearce Morgan or on and on and on.

They're not geniuses. They're media people. Except Rogan doesn't take direction from anyone, so what you get is his honest view of things.

233 I know I'm stating the obvious but a system like ours - a self governing republic - cannot survive if it's information stream is poisoned and distorted like our is. It's effects are made even worse if its education system is equally poisoned, leading to unquestioning, naive, stupid voters who have no critical thinking skills. Those two factors are the pillars a free society is based on, the third being a virtuous people. The evil, satanic, communist Left has taken over the first two. They haven't succeeded in eliminating the third yet, but they're close.

I absolutely agree. This shit started when the first mayor - I believe it was Feinstein in SF, soon followed by Newsome who declared SF a "Sanctuary City". Dubya failed us all by not sending in the US Marshals to arrest those mayors and reminding them that as mayor, they don't get to set immigration policy for the fucking country! The idea should have been strangled in the crib. It wasn't and now we're looking at full blown insurrection. Put it down, forcefully.

omg. I was about to start the new year off right with a new dishwasher when I found out California code has changed so you can't hardwire a dishwasher to -- I lost the thread, but now I have to pay an extra $210 to get this thing installed.

Yesterday was telling the state what exactly my mother is doing with a stream (NOTHING) that she has to pay some gob of money for because it happens to exist on property she owns.

State included a question, Why are you doing nothing? I... answered it. I hope they don't ask for "clarification."

While the "moderator" can steer the conversation, the participants still have their free will. That is totally and completely against the purpose of this so called "profession" journalism.
