CBS "News" Announces That They Have "Missed" Big Stories Because They Only Talk to "Advocates," "Academics," and "Elites;" Admits That No One Trusts the "Legacy Media" Any Longer

And they promise they'll correct that.

Now, they continue lying by omission -- the problem isn't just that they only speak to "advocates" or "academics" or "elites." There are conservative versions of those, whom they don't speak to. Their bias is not to "advocates" or "academics" or "elites," but to the communist left.

They're claiming that their bias is towards experts while they ignore the uninformed general public.

Um, the "experts" told us the vaccine worked and was totally safe and that covid didn't come from a Chinese lab.

They still refuse to admit that and I would never trust a lifelong liar until he admits his lifelong lies.

Still, this is a pretty big statement, lies and all.

The legacy media has never before acknowledged that it is merely a legacy media, among other newer medias. They insist they are the one and only media.

Happy day two of year 2026!

Well duh.......

Read any story written by the liberal media about the midwest or deep south. It's horseshit that proves they've never been there, talked to anyone from there and just fling poo from their high horse.

I listened to what the blow dried mannequin said, and I knew what he would and wouldn't say. He never says anything describing the real problem, namely "we allowed ourselves to become ideological robots, slaves to the left, and ONLY the left. All of us. As a result, the only way we will actually change is if we're all fired."

The rest of his verbal cloud could (and is) equally well have been emitted by standard politicians, of both the left and right.

Only for convenience. Their alliance is to the Party.

If by this time next year the Party is full-on nativist, CBS will be on TV seven nights a week gleefully documenting deportations and run thinkpieces on the need for robotic cannon installations at the border and the installation of minefields.

They have no intellectual allegiance. They aren't even honest communists.

So CBS is going to do a "conservatives in the mist" thing where they send journalists on safari to the jungles of Missouri and Ohio to talk to the "real, common people" of flyover country while they nod along in simulated interest according to all "active listening" techniques and then fly back to New York having learned nothing.

25 The FNM's role became solely to establish and support the narrative.

The problem is since no one who isn't a lefty trusts them any more this means they aren't good at their job.

So what we are seeing right now from some of the smarter FNM outlets is "how do I do the minimum to regain enough trust that most LIVs will again turn to me for information that only supports the narrative?"

It's probably more like multi-trillion dollars of taxpayer's money.

And it's the US Government stealing it. The Somalis, welfare queens and all the other hangers on that live off my taxes are just the beneficiaries, the cut-outs and middle men used by Congress to line their pockets with my hard earned money.

And, we've seen their track record over the last couple of decades.

The media misinterprets (purposefully most of the time). The media obfuscates a lot of the time. They omit to protect. Misrepresent to push a message.

The CIA does all those things, and ignores obvious warning signs because it doesn't reflect their world view. Like, oh I don't know, a small army of Saudis learning how to fly jetliners in the US.

97 Gosh, this sounds an awful lot like a government approach I've been reading a lot about lately. Begins with F and ends with ism. If only I could remember.

China’s rocket industry meanwhile has boomed, and it has done so by adopting policies directly opposite to that of Putin. It has allowed the formation of what I call pseudo-companies, which mimic capitalism by working independently while competing for contracts and profits. All are under close supervision and control by the communist government, which can take them over at any time, but this system allows for competition which thus encourages innovation and efficiency.

Why?

101 Greg Packer's status as a frequent interviewee is due to a number of factors, including seeking out members of the press and appearing friendly, although mostly it is due to his hobby of attending public appearances of celebrities and other media events and attempting to be first in line on such occasions. This has led to him being dubbed a professional line sitter. It has also led to Packer's other claim to fame: being the first person in the world to buy an iPhone, on June 29, 2007 at Apple Fifth Avenue in New York City, after having camped out for five days in front of the store. (He tried to similarly be the first to buy an iPad in 2010, but was bumped from the first position in line due to not having a reservation.) His efforts to be first in line have also allowed him to meet people including Mariah Carey, Garth Brooks, Dennis Rodman and Ringo Starr, as well as at least four presidents of the United States: Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and (before he became president) Donald Trump.

It's their religion of leftism, which absolutely dictates down to the smallest detail what is "news"

Face it: SS is socialism. It's charity. Yes, it was supposed to be a contract, but now it's just govt dole. The principal was squandered and stolen long ago, and today it's all funded by printed fiat money. Every time gold and silver go up, that's your USD becoming more and more worthless to "pay" for the dole.

SS was a stupid unsutainable socialist promise that could never be kept forever, and it's draining this nation. I have to admit this, despite it being against my own personal interest.

That reminds me every time:
-Cable channels, no commercials because you paid a monthly fee. Then add commercials (at least to news and other non movie channels.)
-Streaming, no commercials, because you paid a monthly fee. Now every service chock-a-blocs your movie with ads unless you get the premium-premium service (on top of already buying the thing.)

163 My favorite thing in my market is the total fake "news" story that is actually an advertisement. I sometimes tune in to the AM news for weather reports. Most of the time, there's a "news" segment is that very clearly bought and paid for. "News" coverage of a product and how great it is isn't a thing. That's a commercial read by the newsreaders without disclosure.

Every news story on a campaign announcement or business announcement is just a repackaged press release they sent out.

yeah, the press did not "miss" the story, they buried facts and rewrote/spun the story with a leftist slant ... all done intentionally.

They don't need to pretend to listen to "average Americans" rather than "experts" (i.e. leftist advocates), they need to seek out Real Experts, like the group (I forgot the name already) of doctors that provided the real path during Covid lockdowns (which was obedience training for the masses, with MFM leading the way).

Social security was just an additional income tax that was added on top of the existing income tax. One year after it was implemented, a lawsuit over it made it to the supreme court. The supreme court agreed that it was simply an additional income tax. All of the talk about lock boxes etc. is just a smoke screen. The money is put into the general fund and any excess funds are used to buy government bonds.

They lied about everything to do with the Plandemic. Because those lies furthered the Deep State narrative. Anything that went against that narrative, the media declared to be "misinformation". Facts about Ivermectin and HCQ and monoclonal antibodies and natural immunity were deemed "misinformation".

I don't believe the media has been biased for decades. I believe the media is the unofficial propaganda ministry for the Deep State.

People with bias will give the benefit of the doubt to someone committing fraud or breaking the law. A propaganda ministry will outright lie about the fraud or law and tell you no fraud exists or no law was broken.

Cuomo should never have been propped up by any billionaires. He lost the Dem nomination, and as such he would have been put on the Independent line of the ballot - the absolute worst spot. No amount of money would have changed that. Sliwa, for all his faults, actually had the second-best line on the ballot, as a Republican. He should have been supported, and he should have made a bigger stink than he did about it. He had a role to play, and he played it. Not even his boss at WABC, John Catsimatidis - a RINO if ever there was one - wanted Sliwa to win. There was no way that Sliwa was ever going to win, and he was fine with that as long as he got paid by someone.

Not just protests - tens of thousands of people out on the street all night, burning buildings, stoning cops, group-beating security foce members, smashing cars - it's astounding.

They're at the point where only calling the army in and shooting thousands could calm things down - which is why Trump made a statement today saying that the US will retaliate with military force if Iran begins firing on the protestors.

I retired in 2019 after 30 plus years in the NY market TV business. It's worse than that today. First of all, no tape. Hasn't been in 25 years. Stories are all covered and streamed back to the station digitally, the news producer can have that story edited and on the air in minutes. No more layers. A couple of people are now responsible for determining what you see and hear. And, yes, most are very far left. Especially the News Director. He or she, many times, will sit in the edit bays with the producer to oversee the editing process, which now takes very little time due to the technology. A few of our news anchors were conservative and we would talk among ourselves about the political end of the bizz. They have retired in the intervening years as well.

But...they didn't do it because of the revelation about Atta. They canned the project because it showed a bunch of America elites were being paid off by China.

I don't see it. Yes, the modern economy requires moving around to distant cities mostly that reduces real wealth. First you end up with two parents working, then with single parents, then with no kids. How is that affluence?

Sure, for the wealthy, putting the olds into care homes is an easy option, but how much of that would actually happen if the feds didn't pay for much of it? OK, this is too big a subject for grey boxes, but let me just say that I do not agree with most of what you said.

People pay as much as they want and earmark their dollars to whatever department they want.

This would reduce the amount people paid, sure, but it would also just about eliminate the graft at this level. If the local head of the road department hires his brother-in-law's company to do shitty work next year his budget will be zero.

I suspect it would be a net positive because not only would graft get zero'd out, most of the non-graft spending people don't care about would as well.

It also means that the average voter would have reason to care about the general economy... assuming they could be taught to understand it's implication on their future... and, therefore, so would politicians.

That's the distinction.

Monarchy is a generally bad system, but a major upside to is it that the monarch is heavily invested in the future. He want a realm to give to his son. A monarch will, at least and if nothing else, usually *try* to ensure that the place survives until he can hand it off to his progeny.

Old story that the Horde posted years ago. Someone asked an officer how he picks people to complete a project from a limited pool of troopers. He said he looks for the lazy and motivated because they tend to find easy/quick solutions and carry them out.

He said he avoids the stupid and motivated because they screw everything up all the time. The CIA's problem is that they are arrogant and motivated so their world-striding plans are inevitable failures.

But it sometimes works out. That is the problem with history, you have a small n in most situations, a lot of intervening variables dealing with culture and expectations formed from that, and a long past history of grievances, grudges, and hatred in many cases.

Foreign affairs is where the President has to have a large dollop of discretion because hard and fast rules tend not to work out well over time when specific situations arise.

Pragmatism has a value far beyond ideology as it recognizes specific fact patterns and applies general principles to those rather than apply general principles and impose them on specific fact patterns.

Separation of powers and federalism can be key brakes on an overweening central government. That is why Eurocrats decided to create a vast unaccountable bureaucracy that acts to override those in particular countries. Same with international multilateral treaties--they inevitably disenfranchise the public by limiting what options a popular government can undertake.

Global Elites think the people are too stupid to make decisions collectively and for their own lives and so the Global Elites must 'protect/save' democracy by gutting it and wearing it as a skinsuit to ward off rebellions.

338 Iran's water isn't the only issue down there. Electricity was only up in 70% of the country on its best days. There is an article on schools about a year ago where they did an infrastructure evaluation (unofficially) and found that over 50% had roof cave ins in the last half decade.

The explanation for all these (including the water issue) is commonly known in that connected politicians in the various regions are notorious for corruption and acquiring personal riches on the backs of the residents. This was accepted, allowed, and enforced by the RG...which recently took a major black eye courtesy of the Israelis. Now, the residents aren't just complaining. They're marching around shouting "Death to Khomeini" at the top of their lungs in front of government buildings. That didn't happen the last time.

And from a business standpoint, it's absolutely insane if they don't try a less leftist approach, that differentiates them from everyone else. Fox News owns cable news, simply because they are less leftist than the competition. It ain't hard. CBS News could go back to printing money if they were just a little more 'down the middle'.
