Teh gleam on the doors, and the shape of the paneling, is well done. I'm guessing this is a second- or third-floor apartment. The room directly ahead of us must be fairly small, since the window to the right of the girl is presumably an outside window too.
I'm guessing the hall to the left leads to the front door. And WHY am I analyzing doors and windows when there are much more interesting things in this painting to obsess about? Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at January 08, 2026 09:45 AM (wzUl9) 89

Yeah, there's a nude in the painting but her expression is pouting and unpleasant and detracts from her nice figure. The rooms are more interesting with the golden light from the windows reflected in the wood of the doors and floor. The woman is almost superfluous and just an odd element: a naked woman sitting in what looks like a train depot waiting room. I wonder if Jackson did the interior of straight lines and hard surfaces and afterwards added the curvy woman as a contrast.

The hall door is that old-fashioned kind with a keyhole, but with a Yale (?) lock added above. The other door does not have the additional lock. This suggests that the hallway to the left leads past other apartments, that this is the front door to this apartment.

Posted by: Hadrian the Seventh at January 08, 2026 09:57 AM ------------- I drive several hours each day for work (as a courier) and carry a modern "lunch box" -- light zippered material with a slot for an ice pack, and carry water & electrolyte bottles and occasionally food. Also a side bonus -- especially in the Arizona summers: my mobile phone frequently gets so hot (usually streaming something and/or charging in the heat) that it overheats and I an place it in my lunch box next to the ice pack to cool it back down to a reasonable and operable temperature. Kari Lake buys Iowa condo as speculation swirls about her future. The twice-defeated Arizona candidate has long flirted with politics in her home state. Kari Lake...recently purchased a $60,000 condo in her home community of eastern Iowa...Official property records from Scott County, Iowa, show the November sale of the two-bedroom condominium in a brick apartment building in Davenport to a family trust controlled by Lake. She graduated from a high school near the property before attending the University of Iowa. Sen. Grassley has not closed the door on running for re-election in 2028, but would be 95 years old on Election Day if he pursued another term. In early 2025, as Iowa’s other Republican senator, Joni Ernst, faced criticism from Trump loyalists over her support for the incoming president’s agenda, Lake planned a political visit to the greater Des Moines area. A source familiar with her political interests said at the time that Lake had not ruled out a primary challenge to Ernst, who later announced she would retire rather than seek re-election. Posted by: TheJamesMadison = Yep. Federal officer doing official federal law enforcement activities on the clock. State prosecutors do not have jurisdiction. Plus, qualified immunity applies--that means that the court takes into account the officer's perspective based on facts on the ground as to whether USING THE TOTALITY OF CIRCUMSTANCES, whether the officer acted reasonably. That means you do not pick and choose which instances apply and which do not. The entire extended confrontation applies from the moment that perp blocked ICE vehicles. It includes objective notice that opponents of ICE enforcement are using cars as weapons by ramming ICE vehicles, that the road was slippery, the positions of the officers (they have no requirement to retreat nor get out of the way of someone if that person had been issued an order to stop), the risk to a fellow officer (the agent who had their hand inside the vehicle attempting I think to switch it off), what was said by the driver, and the physical injury to the agent. Posted by: St. Rachel of Pavement a Not necessary, she was given a lawful order to stop and she disobeyed. She was also dragging another officer a bit trying to drive off. But, if you actually look at the officers, not her, the road was a roller rink and officers were slipping. One video shows the contact between the vehicle and the officer and he is literally skating backwards. That means lateral movement could very well lead to a fall right in front of the vehicle. At this point, I conclude people coming on here are simply trolling and could not actually state what the rules of engagement for law enforcement if their life depended on it. Instead they cherry pick instead of like the courts must do, the whole of the event. She was a fleeing felon so Garner does not apply. 363 I tend to think there will be bluster, but nobody wants to get shot.
Shooting a couple more will take care of the sane. Leaving the unhinged with less safety in numbers. Posted by: connected and litigious ====== Because the Democrat party is now a crime syndicate, it is acting like any criminal organization and it is desperate to keep the grift going and keep stealing hundreds of billions if not trillions from taxpayers to win ultimate power. These protesters do not give one shit about illegals but rather that Team Blue stays in power forever. To that end, they adopted the commie mindset that power has its own justification beyond any existing laws or restraint. Like in 1861, they have declared themselves and the jurisdictions they control as beyond the reach of the law and that includes their hacks in black adding fuel to the fire. The Democrats have crossed the Rubicon by their lawbreaking and now it is a question for Republicans and normies what to do about this monstrous criminal organization and its footsoldiers. FWIW, for individual self defense, not a great idea to use barrier penetrating rounds in a handgun as they are a compromise between penetration and expansion. Expansion is what is needed in most self defense cases .
If fearing the worst, get an AR pistol for travel as a 223 penetrates car bodies with ease and you have the mag capacity. In most states, it is illegal to carry a loaded long gun (poaching is the reason), but an AR pistol is not covered. Do be aware that some unfree states might need following the federal FOPA laws to pass--locked container, no mag or bullet in chamber, passing through, etc. NY State and city and NJ are particularly unfriendly to passage under FOPA . I was reading up on SMRs (Small Modular Reactors), and it appears that the $9B+ in MN graft could have paid for 2 300Mw reactors. Now that presupposes that MN voters would encourage the construction of clean, safe nuclear power, but for me, the reactor costs puts the magnitude of the graft in a new perspective.

When things turn violent, Commie HQ can cherry-pick the best angle and then scatter-shot the video to their favorite MSM contacts. Posted by: mrp at January 08, 2026 11:11 AM (rj6Yv) 472

Posted by: JM in Illinois at January 08, 2026 09:59 AM (BNA0v) ------------------------------------------ Not Carol Doda.
