Could end up in litigation, but I suspect there is more to this story. Likely this has been a problem franchise -- Indians are notorious cheapskates and scumbags when it comes to contract obligations -- and this was the last straw. But good on Hilton for throwing out the trash.

I suspect there are legal issues with terminating the entire franchise, in the sense that the hotel cannot operate as a Hilton any more. The franchise agreement is probably 500 pages and 50 of them are probably termination. If the contract is usual, it has notice and cure periods built in, and formal procedures that have to be followed before full termination.

I had to take some for treatment of alleged fibromyalgia by a new to me pain doctor physiatrist (a DO of all things). My old pain doctor (MD) retired and this doctor came into the practice.
He misdiagnosed me as having fibromyalgia rather than the underlying cause which was nerve impingement from bone spurs throughout my joints in the arms and from a deteriorating spine.
The nasty combination of Cymbalta and Lyrica literally made me into a zombie, no short term memory, and a basic lack of any emotion whatsoever. Then, after a year or so of being treated with these nasty drugs, I decided to go off them in a graduated fashion and did so to the ire of that doctor because he took it correctly that I was rejecting his diagnosis.
But the ENG tests showed he was wrong and I was right. Psoriatic arthritis can in some cases attack the joint's connective tissues which causes the ligaments, etc. to stiffen and shrink making it harder to move. I require extensive gentle stretching exercises every day in order to move somewhat with less pain. The nasty part is when the ligaments shrink, bone spurs develop in the joints.

That's too bad, but it happens. Like I can't stand Sarah Brightman's and Shakira's voices. They sound like Kermit the frog to me, especially Sarah in the high register.
I've heard Dolly has tatted up arms and tattoos of butterflies she'll never show the public. And sure enough, I can never find a pic of her sleeveless! I assumed it was because she knew if she was going to show so much cleavage, something else needed to be covered up to stay semi classy. But I wish she'd just show them off if they exist.
Her charity work is amazing though! And her work ethic. Puts everyone else to shame. And it takes a lot of guts to turn down Elvis's manager at the beginning of your music career, guy was a nightmare.

I suspect you are correct. I find contract law eye glazing boring but almost always, franchisors are always in a superior position to the franchisees by design.
As people noted above, the damage is to the Hilton brand itself so contracts are specifically designed to prevent what the Hampton Inn did with the ICE agents to the detriment of the franchising company.
If a company cannot protect its brand in a crowded marketplace, then it will become damaged in a fairly quick fashion if that brand name turns sour.

I suspect you are correct. I find contract law eye glazing boring but almost always, franchisors are always in a superior position to the franchisees by design.
As people noted above, the damage is to the Hilton brand itself so contracts are specifically designed to prevent what the Hampton Inn did with the ICE agents to the detriment of the franchising company.
If a company cannot protect its brand in a crowded marketplace, then it will become damaged in a fairly quick fashion if that brand name turns sour.

I'm 99.99% certain the franchise agreement has very specific provisions requiring the hotel to operate in compliance with all laws, including specifically those governing non-discrimination in booking. I'm also 99.99% certain that it's a violation of law to refuse service to federal agents.

It did not work very well for me and Lyrica by itself in particular is an obnoxious drug that affected my cognitive functioning and emotions (killed those).
I've also taken Gabapentin which has similar results but not as dire consequences on cognitive function but the real relief comes from surgery to remove the bone spurring and release trapped nerves. I have had multiple surgeries on both arms, hands, etc. leaving only the spine which I will have that surgery next month.
The sad truth is that all pain medications and anti inflammatories extract a toll on the body and often it is better to live with pain than it is to take whatever magic potion Big Pharma invents.
So I use heat to loosen stiff muscles and I use cold packs to deal with excessive pain. If it gets terrible with visible swelling, then mild anti inflammatories NSAID and hot baths with epsom salts to promote blood flow to affected regions.
Takes the edge off with no cognitive effects. There are some mental tricks you can do as well.

Hotel owners like Hilton more than Marriott for many reasons, not least of which corporate is easier to deal with, but this situation is going to piss off a lot of corporate types at Hilton. And their lawyers.

Apparently it was people at the franchised hotel in question, not Hilton Inc employees.
So Hilton can demand the franchisee fire them or lose their status as a franchised hotel but not fire those employees directly themselves.
