Chicks vs. old biddies: there is a swanky part of town where the wealthy widows live in big old mansions. The locals call it Biddie Hill. My wife’s aunt objected to this when I mentioned it to her until I pointed out the plaque out front of one of these castles where, engraved in stone, it announced “Biddie Hill”. Wife’s aunt dropped the subject.

The Intercept (no relation): Iran War Has the U.S. Military on the Brink of a “Breakdown” As the U.S. military faces relentless attacks on its bases, the Iran conflict is “ultimately unsustainable,” one U.S. official told The Intercept.
At the very least it will either humble the US or force people to face up to the hard truth that Republicans are the reason for America's decline and fading power. Putting Incompetent hypocrites and lying charlatans in power always ends in pain. The US military is looking surprisingly like Russia's. Our strength lies in our allies, and thanks to Trump, they've not just turned us down, they're turning away from and moving on from us. the loss of US influence in the region and the withdrawal of US forces is probably the best possible outcome for them. The destruction of oil infrastructure is also the best possibility for a green transition. Trump really is the anti imperialist president lmao, sucks for the US tho Largest military budget in the world, ran out of munitions against Iran in six months. That doesn't add up. Maybe it's time we demand the Pentagon pass that audit they've failed for eight straight years? Regarding Bo French:
1) A lot of Indians in TX are hard left. Like, you have no idea. They're upper castes who despise others and believe they should rule everyone by birthright. Much of the sweep around the Houston area that wiped out Republicans was because of Indians 2) No one is defending the Indians. Because the more people are around them, the more they see the stink of their caste system, and how they view you as a lesser. And the GOPe--as usual--severely underestimates how much the base is coming to hate the arrogant Brahmans. 3) Bo French will do more to end illegal immigration--especially H1B abuse--in TX than Abbott. Because, he will be 1 of 3 votes on the Railroad Commission to approve all oil and gas permits. He won't say it, but everyone knows it--permits will be denied to those who don't play ball and start getting rid of H1B and illegal hires. Which explains why all the GOPe are making fools of themselves trying to condemn him. You know, the same people who never apologized for saying Trump should drop out of the race because he said "pussy." Does YT pay a rate for number of subscribers or is it only the number of hits? Posted by: Archimedes at September 15, 2026 12:31 PM (Riz8t) ===== Views which lead to Cost per Mille which is an average bid rate advertisers pay. Creators get Revenue per Mille which is roughly half of the CPM (I think it's normally 55%). CPM gets calculated on a variety of factors including geography of the viewer, age of the viewer, and how many ads they see (so long videos with mid-roll ads pay a lot more than short videos with only starting and ending ads). "We ran out of munitions."
*US bombs a shit ton of targets along Iran's coast for 10 straight days.* "See? We have no munitions!" Posted by: TheJamesMadison I think the issue is we've used a significant percentage of some of our high precision munitions, which take time to manufacture (and lots of rare earth material only currently available through China). As we don't typically go through them at a super fast rate, we don't have a bunch of industrial infrastructure ready to immediately ramp up production. Ukraine, as I understand, didn't get a lot of our most high-tech weaponry, and instead heavily depleted some of our more convential ammunition stockpiles (artillery shells especially). Same general trend, though, regarding limited manufacturing ability to replenish on short timelines. If we went to total war (say, China), we could ramp production capabilities similar to WW2, although probably not quite as quickly due to the more advanced technology involved. 300IQ. That's a really high IQ. Probably higher than anyone currently living. Maybe higher than Isaac Newton. So if that is widely available to everyone in the world via the internet. What would that look like? Would everyone in the world be 300 IQ? No. They would be the same stupid, immoral dipshits, with access to an amoral 300 IQ. So, what could possibly go wrong? Don't get me wrong, I think the invention of the gun was marginally for the best. It made strength available to the weak. But it also made it available to dipshits. So on the whole it is going to have both good effects and bad effects. The good effects will probably be pretty good, and the bad effects will probably be pretty bad. It's stupid. Half of the missiles that Iran has fired since the MOU was scrapped have just exploded in the air unassisted because Iran is using what scraps of supplies they can find after 80%+ of their supplies were blowed up real good. yeah me too I think they (Anthropic ++) are having $$ troubles and think being govt-adjacent will keep them in the pink! hey it worked for the healthcare sector! plus tech is so overdue for a correction. joining our massive tumor of a govt is the only way to truly stave it off any longer and now, people's visas are on the line! they HAVE to keep the bubble up! two big un-shrinkable (!!!) bubbles in the USA - South Asian tech bros and boomer real estate loans Posted by: Black Orchid (j+aD2) at September 15, 2026 01:13 PM (j+aD2) 266
To be clear, I'm not completely against any guardrails on AI, but as I said, the last people I'd entrust to develop those guardrails are politicians. Furthermore, unless China is onboard in a REALLY cheat-proof regulatory regime, there's no point and we'll just have to take our chances. === Its a genie out of the bottle situation. Like the gun. Sure you can regulate it, or keep it out of the hands of your population, but the bad guys will get it. The good guys obey the law. I don't think it something that can be stopped, or something that can be controlled. Its not like the "bomb" where you can control fissionable material exports etc. If its accessible over the internet or widely developed - some asshole or group of assholes is going to get ahold of it and use it to figure out how to make a "bomb" or do "bioweapons" research or some shit like that. Its inevitable. It seems like the methodology of developing AI is widely disseminated - not secret like fission was - and so its going world wide eventually. Genie is out of the bottle. Claim: "The US Fed Government must be able to rapidly find every AI development project within the 50 states and regulate the crap out of it or shut it down! If not, humanity is doomed! It will be Easy Peasy! All we have to is enact the proper laws, by this Friday!"
My counter-claim: "What about that FedGov War on Drugs? Would you please remind me when the Federal Government won the war?" Posted by: Gref at September 15, 2026 01:14 PM (5rh/l) 268
Funny thing about the AI panic is that the vast majority of limitations on industry over the last 40 years have come through regulation.
But Trump's admin is the most deregulatory administration in American history, far outpacing even his first administration. They'd have to get Congress to pass a law and Trump to sign it to get anything. It's a pressure campaign against one man: Trump, and Trump has announced that he's not having any of it. I just hope companies like Anthropic shoot themselves in the feet so badly that they bleed out because of this tantrum. Now, suddenly, they have to fight something they thought was already won. Same in NH and MN, while the GOP has a large money advantage. The NC senate race was always going to be close. Senate races reflect the previous presidential races in terms of turnout most of the time, and GOP has a registration advantage in the state now which is new within the last four years. Trump won the state by 3 and Whatley doesn't have any of Robinson's baggage. D's thought NC was in the bag because of Robinson, but they should have known it would be a tough fight because of Trump in 2024. Notice that PDiddy was essential to the industry, and like a good little operative, when he did things that could no longer be ignored by the law he got the minimal convictions possible and the deep state prosecutors made sure that was the only things that got discussed. I don't know about that. I have to use Claude extensively on my current project. I've been using AI more and more in my core responsibilities over the last couple of years. For programming, Claude is astounding. You can spin up multiple threads all tasked with the same project and have them competing against each other, checking each other's work, and taking the best results from each and incorporating them into the final result. It's like a whole team of high level programmers collaborating in real time and putting out very high quality work in an hour that would take the programmers a couple of days. My only complaint is the code and comments are often more verbose than I'd like, and no matter how many times I direct it to be more succinct, it isn't. But that's it. The quality is very good.
