9 "Wingsuit formation squadron member" ...

... it's all fun and games until someone dies. And they almost all eventually die.

Same thing with all these "ultra extreme" sports guys. Free climbers, BASE jumpers, extreme skiers, etc.

You can only cheat death for so long. Death is undefeated.

10 I hate being Willowed so:

My best gym lifting story is I was doing dumbbell presses and after I finished a set but still lying down a guy walks up and asks how many more sets did I have left. I looked up right into the face of Prince Humperdinck ( Chris Sarandon) and no lie had just watched the Princess Bride the night before.

Surreal.

For the dozenth time that day, Sven was wondering if he should get a different job. He liked being a bartender, but a pirate bar -- and especially the Toughest Bar In The World (gov't name) -- was a bit much at times. Especially with regulars like Norm Nobeard, who fancied himself a comedian.

"So then Kermit -- not that one -- decided he wanted some more pondfront property, and hopped off to the bank for a loan..."

A drunk with a hood hand was gesticulating so wildly at his tablemates that he nearly put his own eye out.

"He gets to the front of the line, and explains to the teller -- he nametag says Ms. Whack -- how he's not that Kermit, but his dad Mick Jagger (who got so drunk he fucked a frog) was a friend and big admirer..."

Oh there's Blindside Pete, who actually did get one of his eyes put out by that hook, about to bump into someone he can't see and start another fight.

"...and he doesn't really have any property for collateral but this little white porcelain elephant, so she goes to the bank manager..."

Whew, Pete saw and dodged at the last minute -- spoke too soon, Pegleg Bob just tripped on a knothole and knocked Hottempered Phil's whole chair over.

Norm doesn't even turn around at the sound of fighting, just keeps on with his ridiculous story. "She knocks on the door and the bank manager says, 'Come in Patty,' and she explains the whole irregular situation. She just didn't know what to do! Well, she was new. So the bank manager turns over the little white elephant in his hands, hmm-ing and aha-ing."

As if the day couldn't get any weirder, a guy with a whole frickin' ship's wheel walks in and staggers toward the bar, cautiously avoiding the inebriated patrons, while Sven leisurely polishes a dirty glass with a dirty rag. The newcomer tries to belly up to the bar and can't even do that, finally settling in sideways.

"'What even is it, anyway?' Patty asks, gazing puzzled at the elephant. So the bank manager explains what's going on. 'It's a nick-nack, Patty Whack. Give the frog a loan! His old man's a Rolling Stone."

Sven laughs politely at Nobeard's joke, then asks the burning question on everyone's mind: "Hey, new guy. What in Odin's name is the ship's wheel even for?"

"Arrr," the pirate groans. "It's drivin' me nuts."

51 A Division I NCAA head coach is probably *just a touch* overpaid by comparison to an NFL head coach. But just a touch.

And it's a real job with work and standards and accountability and shit like that. Same for the players (who are overpaid by comparison to coaches, for that matter).

Not fair to lump them in with reporters and politicians and actors. These are jobs for low-skilled scum and should be paid commensurately.

I watched one episode. The show was people arguing over who they should follow, then taking a walk in the forest. They pass through an open field with a tree in it.

Apparently the director though they needed something to happen so a group of zombies shows up and attacks. They weren't in the field. They weren't able to hide. They just showed up from behind the tree.

That is one of my most hated film and TV bits, where things happen or show up from off camera that the actors in the scene can clearly see coming and know about but react as if they do not because the viewers did not.

Good to know that a month before the election they’ve declared the races over.

If republicans show up, especially given the changes in districts and registration I don’t see how you make that kind of statement- other than to try and depress Republicans turnout.

Given the stakes I don’t see that happening.

It was decent up until season 7 or 8 with Neegan.
It was developing the problems which eventually consumed it well before then, though.

Trying to save money by splitting the group up and doing shows with 1 - 3 cast members, etc. Going through producers and writers.

And the soap opera aspect just got worse and worse with recycled plotlines with different characters.

I knew people who didn't like horror who liked it, too.
It started pretty great but it went on a long downhill ride after that.

It's crazy how shows used to have 26 episodes a season, even Star Trek and now.....maybe 10.

Even Disney Channel seasons are about 16 episodes.

I'd think spreading out the cost of existing sets over 20+ episodes would kind of help the economics. But they don't want to pay the people I guess.

115 I read close to 100 issues of The Walking Dead comic, and it followed that somewhat, it has some different characters and plotlines compared to the show.

The key to that entire book and the show was that it was Rick Grimes as the hero who would do anything to protect his family, until there was nobody left but his son Carl and the the baby Liltith.

The show practically killed itself first killing off Carl for no reason, then sending Rick into the wild blue yonder out of the show.

The only other reason that people watched the show was Daryl, and the kept him but there's only so much you can do with a character that's been on TV for over a decade, so they sent him to France.

It's as ruined as every other franchise Hollywood touches.

I suspect "binge watching" has a lot to do with the reduction in the number of episodes per season. Studios can crank out more variation in series per years. However, the gap between series is a problem because yeah, people will have forgotten what happened in the previous season. Especially if it was a badly-written series--no one goes back to rewatch it. (Looking at you, Wheel of Time and Rangz of Power...)

Well seeing as how the Eagles have the number 1 and number 3 best selling albums of all time and are selling out Sphere shows for months on end I'd say they aren't having any problem with that. And Hotel California is in the top 300 streamed pieces of music all time. I'd say they at least are pretty well known.

Are you my late brother aka the most insane and funny person I've ever known?

When I returned to work as a RN, after over 4yrs raising babies, I flew my brother to FL to watch them during my month long orientation. He was between jobs. Boys were 3yrs and 1.5yrs old.

Their Dad would come home to give them lunch and then naps.

My bro was not big on diapers but was ok with pee for the baby. If our boy dared to poop, my brother's solution was the garden hose first. Which, of course, the baby loved and wanted me to start doing this as well.

I had to laugh, however,as they did survive and enjoy their time with their crazy uncle.
