As Questions About Ilan "Omar's" Sudden Fortune Grow, Her Husband Begins Deleting Information from His "Venture Capital" Website

Venture capital, huh?

Bet he has a lot of Somali "investors."

Embattled Rep. Ilhan Omar's husband's venture capital firm quietly scrubbed key officer details -- including former Obama officials -- as scrutiny grows over the family's skyrocketing wealth, The Post has learned.

Omar (D-Minn.) went from nearly broke to being worth up to $30 million in just a year -- as a massive, up to $9 billion fraud scheme involving the Somali community in her district unfolded right under her nose in the North Star State.

Close to 90 people have been charged so far, including at least three with direct ties to the lefty "Squad" member, though she has not been accused of wrongdoing.

It was Somalia-born Omar -- who was seen in a resurfaced video last month dishing out food in a restaurant now at the heart of the scandal -- who introduced the legislation that critics say paved the way for what the feds have called the largest fraud of the pandemic.

The Jimmy Choo-wearing socialist introduced the MEALS Act in Congress in 2020, relaxing oversight of government-sponsored children's meal programs during the pandemic, which critics say allowed fraudsters to claim they served millions of meals without verification, while pocketing millions of dollars in government subsidies.

Shortly after the scheme played out, Omar's husband, political consultant Tim Mynett, launched Rose Lake Capital, a venture capital management firm, in 2022.

The company saw its reported value go from nearly zero in 2023 to between $5 million and $25 million in just a year, and touted its officers' $60 billion in "previous" assets under management -- an amount many Wall Street money managers only dream of.

"There's a lot of strange things going on," said Paul Kamenar, counsel to the National Legal and Policy Center. "She was basically broke when she came into office and now she's worth perhaps up to $30 million ... she needs to come clean on these assets."

Rose Lake Capital, which touts its "deep global networks built from on-the-ground work in more than 80 countries," had less than $1,000 in assets in 2023, according to Omar's financial disclosure.

Yet despite the reported windfall, the business's only address is a WeWork in DC, according to its LinkedIn page.

WeWork is a business that lets you rent out temporary, shared office space. So this multimillion dollar "global" capital venture firm doesn't have an actual permanent office.

Between September and October -- when federal prosecutors announced charges against eight more individuals, including six of Somali descent, for their roles in the welfare scheme -- the names and bios of Rose Lake Capital's nine officers and advisers were removed from the website. None of them were charged in the fraud.

These names include lobbyist and former Obama Ambassador to Bahrain Adam Ereli; former Senator and Obama Ambassador to China Max Baucus; DNC Finance Chair associate Alex Hoffman; former DNC treasurer William Derrough; and former ex-CEO of Amalgamated Bank Keith Mestrich, who once described Amalgamated as "the institutional bank of the Democratic Party."

Meanwhile, Mynett's other business, a California winery that previously faced fraud allegations and was declared a failed venture in 2023, was suddenly worth between $1 million and $5 million in 2024 -- a windfall of 9,900%.

Sounds like money laundering. "To conceal the source of money as by channeling it through an intermediary."

...

It too is listed as operating out of a WeWork, and doesn't appear to actually sell any wines anymore, according to extensive internet searches.

Despite the high worth placed on the business, its website is a broken link, the phone number is disconnected and the last social media post for the winery dates back to 2023.

"While working families were being ripped off by a massive welfare scam, Omar's campaign took money from convicted fraudsters, her husband launched a firm that suddenly ballooned in value, and [Minnesota Gov.] Tim Walz looked the other way," according to Kiersten Pels, spokesperson for the Republican National Committee.

...

Mynett did not return The Post's messages, and both his businesses' numbers were not working.

Forgive me, but I'm pretty sick of this false distinction.

Even in the absence of some *other* crime, illegal aliens are all criminals. Their first act on American soil - illegal entry - was a crime. Should we go after worse (*more* criminal) targets first? Sure. But illegal aliens are criminals. Full stop.

84 Something like 80% of Somalians in Minnesota are on welfare. Why do you need daycare if you don't have a job?

Posted by: JackStraw at December 30, 2025 06:52 PM

Duh for the fraud! Say you got three kids with legitimate ssn's, you sign them up for daycare and never take them to daycare. You get a kick back from the daycare center for each child that they can claim as being there each and every day from 6am to 6pm. The government then gives the daycare center a check for all of those kids.

85 Have honestly wondered for years about the money laundering by Dims and massively growing national debt. While politicians got richer.

Suddenly the blindfold was ripped off my face and here's the ugly answer: Somolians and other "charity" that goes straight to the pockets of politicians. A pity channel. Home Health Care and daycares that don't exist. Medical transportation that does not exist.

Meanwhile, as an added bonus of mass voting blocs for Dims, polluting the population with rape, probable child trafficking, and theft of stores as well as tax payers, here's the answer in the last days of 2025!

It all simply clicked with one guy: Nick Shirley.

Elon Musk uncovered the tip of the iceberg, nothing was really done. Nick Shirley dove deeper and saw the larger theft below the surface.

GET THEM OUT! TAKE OMAR ON THE FIRST FLIGHT!

The scales fell from my eyes years ago, when some Los Angeles-based NGO touted the fact that they had supplied tents to homeless people on Skid Row.

At a reported cost of $100,000 per tent.

The NGO hoovered up grants, made its officers rich, and diverted funds to the right politicians. It was purely incidental that a handful of bums got $80 tents out of the deal.

You know what frosts my nuts is the fact that any government organization will go back decades to get money they think they are owed.

I went to tech school on the GI bill after I got out of the Army in 1978. I went for 2 semesters and realized it wasn't for me and told them it wasn't working. The VA sent them the checks and everything was good when I quit. Fast forward some years later and the VA came after me for $300 claiming that the school hadn't submitted attendance records for my second semester. I was in the Navy then overseas and the school had closed, I told them all of this in a letter and that seemed to be it. After I retired from the Navy in 1999 I got a letter from the VA saying they were garnishing my retirement check for $300.

Two decades later they came after me for $300 that I didn't owe but these people get a free pass on $8 BILLION in fraud.

Posted by: Skip at December 30, 2025 07:23 PM (Ia/+0)

Exactly, Skip. I think they will be part of any government program - and just like the progressive income tax where the tax rate increases with income, the fraud rate increases with the size of the program.

The only answer is to cut it off at the source. Stop spending money we don't have. Limit income taxes to a flat 10% of income, drastically reduce both government regulations and the US Code.

81 WeWork is a business that lets you rent out temporary, shared office space. So this multimillion dollar "global" capital venture firm doesn't have an actual permanent office.

It's not even a cooperative suite. Its a frikkin' desk, and shared use of the wifi and a photocopier.

165 The opposite is also true. A company I was associated with had the entire top floor of a mid rise building. C19 hit. Office closed. We developed a WFH culture. Lease Ended. Didn't Renew. Had token office at a WeWork for the occasional meetings with clients post C19.

IOW, WeWork, Galvanize and the other shared office companies picked up a lot of companies that didn't return after the lock-downs and didn't renew leases.

maybe, but that was no replacement for the numbers that disappeared because of covid. The shared office spaces in the big cities, ny, sf, boston were emailing daily if they were open or closed, if somebody had covid, who it was , where the space was.

170 Other than the empty offices, deserted buildings, etc...what struck me was this. One building would have a Home Health Care (empty) office, one after the other, down a hall. Doors locked. No tresspassing signs. Deserted buildings.

Repeated several times in different areas. Or the "childcare centers." None of the childcare centers had windows or playgrounds that you could see. Much less playgrounds with fences, where one could see children playing, or footprints in the snow.

Capitalists don't want to be in the same building with similar offices. I guess no one explained to Somolians the key idea about competition right next door. Key in this country to success. Walz and Company are just as stupid, as this is totally abnormal to see.

Red flag after red flag after a charging bull obvious to the "auditors."

I am not brilliant but it was obvious to me.

I have to ask as well: where were the MD's who wrote orders for Home Health Care for these companies. 1st, it is against federal law to send a patient (in hospital) to one vs giving a family a list to choose from (due to MD's in the past having partial ownership and kickbacks).2nd it takes a MD order for Home Health Care.

172 CBS News @CBSNews

A recent video by conservative YouTuber Nick Shirley alleged nearly a dozen day care centers in Minnesota that are receiving public funds are not actually providing any service. After the video went viral, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced a "massive investigation on childcare and other rampant fraud" in the state.

CBS News conducted its own analysis of nearly a dozen day care centers mentioned by Shirley: all but two have active licenses, according to state records, and all active locations were visited by state regulators within the last six months. CBS News' review also found dozens of citations related to safety, cleanliness, equipment, and staff training, among other violations, but there was no recorded evidence of fraud.

177 WeWork is such a great idea it went bankrupt in 2023.

Posted by: JackStraw at December 30, 2025 07:12 PM

Via Grok:

Yeah, WeWork's original hyper-growth model under Adam Neumann was a spectacular flameout — peaking at a $47 billion valuation before the failed 2019 IPO exposed the insanity, and it finally filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November 2023.

But here's the twist: it successfully restructured and emerged from bankruptcy in June 2024 as a leaner, privately held company. They shed $4 billion in debt, slashed future rent obligations by over $12 billion, closed unprofitable locations (down to around 600 globally), and got new ownership led by Yardi Systems.

Fast-forward to late 2025: WeWork is profitable again (positive EBITDA for months, aiming for full profitability), occupancy in key markets like NYC is hitting 85%, they're expanding partnerships, and even releasing upbeat reports on flexible work trends. The core idea of coworking/flex space wasn't the problem — it was the reckless execution and overexpansion.

The scam as old as AFDC welfare program. Often when the investigator came in, kids were borrowed from the other tenement dwellers or from siblings to pad the count for benefits. An old NY State case dealt with NY policy of surprise AFDC inspections which often caught boyfriends, no kids, and other issues for welfare cheats. The surprise inspections were no longer allowed after that.

Goldberg v. Kelly was another Scotus decision (1970) that essentially equalled welfare benefits with a property interest. That means a pre termination hearing before suspending benefits, cross examination of witnesses, etc. and that a post termination hearing must be held to allow reinstate of benefits if the hearing officer found the state in error for termination.

A change in disposition where in 1970, foodstamps and AFDC welfare was regarded as shameful, now, recipients call it a job.

Fake patients (Somolians). Fake everything.

Your father needs home health care after surgery. Hospital case manager makes a referral, based on who you choose. The rep from the HHC (Home Health Care) agency visits and works it all out with the family. The hospital case mgr has already figured out what the patient needs in regard to equipment.

The patient is discharged and NO ONE SHOWS UP for the initial evaluation, which she/he reports to the MD who ordered the HHC. Someone would call, amirite?

THERE ARE NO PATIENTS requring home health care or transportation.

THERE ARE NO CHILDREN requiring childcare. One report said when one place opened the "parent" paraded the kid in, then out to the car shortly afterwards. "Parent" given an envelope with his share of the kickback. This was when it first opened years ago. Since then? No kids at all, I'd guess.

Perhaps some of these nasty Somolians were using these empty spaces as their "homes."
