I have a funny video of our then 15mo old first granddaughter who tried to catch her shadow. There had not been a lot of sun for weeks and it was the perfect time for her to discover her shadow. The sun was streaming through the doors to the deck.

I kept telling her to catch it! She tries and at one point said she did. She was very articulate from a very young age and still super cute and funny two years later.

Her new baby sister may be the smartest of them all, as they compete with big brother in all things.

Good! I read that the administration turned off the cameras after pressure from pro-Hamas groups. Only 4 were functioning out of 1200.

The liberal womman president admitted there were NONE in the lecture hall or outside due to it "being an older part of the building" & opening directly to a residential area.

Again, it was residential cameras like RING who identified him. Clearer video from Alamo.

I would think Brown attny's were freaking out anytime she stepped up with her eye twitch to the mic.

It was something to see live. The press gave them pure hell, and, for once I enjoyed it. The press questioned the security nimrod on why no one checked warnings and he mumobojumboed until the Governor of RI inserted himself (he did this a lot, the guvnuh).

103 The noise of anti-Penguin fanaticism frequently drowns out the facts – not to be confused with the mere propaganda that is “Penguin Facts” - of the evil of world-wide Spheniscidacide. Pro-Penguin groups such as the Penguin Anti-Communist Organization and Penguin Aid Charities Online struggle daily to penetrate the curtain of towering mendacity that impedes the dissemination of truth.

Thus it is good to see the true facts manifest themselves through the publication of news articles in the media. We have underscored the influence of left-wing billionaire Geetus L. Mazuma in reducing, if not eliminating, the international penguin population in pursuit of his goal of cornering the market on anchovies. Behold, the evidence, as published by SciTech Daily: “African Penguins Face Growing Danger As Fishing Fleets Move In”.

African penguin numbers have dropped by nearly 80% over the last thirty years. One contributing factor has been competition with local fisheries that harvest sardines and anchovies, which are a crucial food source for the penguins.

Nothing beats binder clips.

I suppose the topic is a pet peeve of mine; I looked into the details of campaign finance closely a few years back. What I found is that laws are written with all kinds of hidden pitfalls along with loopholes so that the *only* way to keep from breaking the law is to hire a full time campaign consultant and an experienced attorney.

And that’s the only point of the rules, to make sure that anyone who tries to do it in their own is guaranteed to break the law.

183 I think the deal with the ships is that the Arleigh Burke class has come to the end of its design life, and the Naval designers realize that they’re going to need a bigger basic platform to carry everything they want to put on it. So the new model is really gonna be a really big destroyer, or what a Cruiser used to be. But Trump likes the name Battleship so that’s what they’re going to be called.

231 Build your mega-super battleship out of air-entrained concrete with a net specific gravity of 0.8 or 0.9, similar to ice, but needing no refrigeration. Embed tubes in the structure, stem to stern, at intervals, and pass cables through the tubes, and then tension up the cables once the concrete has cured. Puts the entire structure under compression, and greatly enhances the strength. Hull mostly solid, relatively few cavities, mainly the engine room.

Also, at this size, I'd expect several helicopters and possible some F-35's aboard.

You might not like the guy’s politics, but if you have to go to war, or your children, your husband, etc and sometimes that happens, he’s the type of guy you want in charge, leading. No way around this.

Patton was an asshole at times, but the war in Europe would have ended 6 months earlier had he been allowed to take Berlin. Politicians were sucking up to “Uncle Joe” and let the Iron Curtain trap millions. Inexcusable. 266 What the heck does the Governor of Louisiana know about Greenland?
Posted by: Tom Servo at December 22, 2025 09:52 PM (pLSjm)

I was wondering about that, and I came to the conclusion that the Gov of LA knows a lot about being a completely different type of legal code and governmental order integrating into the larger US common law system.

Kinda curious about that myself.

But the real issue isn't Greenland. It's the Arctic Ocean. For the first time Russia has sent every one of their icebreakers, and they have a lot more than we do, to the Arctic at the same time to clear the shipping lanes.

The arctic shipping lanes could be a game changer for international shipping and military and Greenland site right on the edge of it.

270 256 They seem to be able to board with just helicopters. I fail to see why one needs to bring a battleship (or cruiser) to a confrontation with a potential epic oil spill.

Helicopters don't loiter for days, and don't carry big tubes. Apparently during the Missouri's trip to Lebanon and adjacent area, the thing that really got everyone's attention was making giant craters with the main guns.

Landing Hot onto a ship is not an easy thing.... and the Helo you would need to use would only carry about half a boarding Team... which is why the Navy uses boats.

Much more controlled... and... as I can personally attest after having done this for a living while in the Navy... it also allows you the ability to RETREAT, because the Body Armor we used had inflatable life vests built in...

So if things go to shit? You go over the side and get picked up by the boat.

Also, if you do find contraband, you have to put aboard a prize crew large enough to control the crew... and who is knowledgeable enough to make sure the crew is not up to something.

Helicopters is literally what they are using in the Caribbean (not the Gulf of America) Right Now.

Actually, spotting a periscope from the deck of a Tanker is a bit more intimidating than a battleship on the horizon

273 Anything that floats can be sunk, just admire the Iranian Navy†

† you will need a glass bottom boat to do so though.

Brilliant.

This is like saying no one should spend money on airpower because anything that can fly can be shot down.

****

Exactly. A F-35 does not look like a P-51. Why should a 21st century battleship look like the Missouri?

You are probably right, I just know it made really large craters where there used to be installations that were not behaving civilly and most likely never would have.

276 261 That was the USS IOWA that rearranged the landscape in Lebanon, no? Could be wrong, often am.

They worked on trying to modernize the analog mechanical “computers” and tables used for the big guns, and decided they worked well enough, and left well enough alone.

The USS New Jersey was there in late 83... Part of the same MARG 2-83 as my ship, the USS Iwo Jima.

277 i think half of cling wrap profits are people trying to cut it and it by the time you’re going to cover something it turns into a big wad of sticky plastic and then repeat that process until eventually you throw the entire roll away and invest in ZipLoc bags, tin foil, and Tupperware.

Canals. Dig a canal from Lake Superior to James Bay. Another canal from the mouth of the North Saskatchewan River on Hudson Bay to Lake Athabaska. Upgrade the channel of the Mackenzie River to handle ocean-going ships. Most of the land involved is pretty low-lying. You'd need some locks, for sure. Site nuclear power plants along the canals, use canal water for cooling, keeps the canal unfrozen.
