Amanda Seyfried is "not f--king apologizing" for her comments on Charlie Kirk after his shocking murder. "I mean, for f--ks sake, I commented on one thing. I said something that was based on actual reality and actual footage and actual quotes," Seyfried, 40, told Who What Wear in an interview published on Wednesday. "What I said was pretty damn factual, and I'm free to have an opinion, of course."Yes, one can offer a defense of Trump that the left has been doing this for three months with Charlie Kirk. But... in that case, what are we complaining about ourselves? If we support this kind of thing, then we can really have no objection to Amanda Seyfried or a hundred thousand other poisonous leftist murder cultists. It sure would be nice if Trump would think once and a while instead of immediately jumping on Truth Social to show his ass. For his part, despite how wretched Rob Reiner's politics are, and his Trump derangement (yes, he was in fact Trump deranged and I think he even conceded as much), he did not descend to Seyfried's level after Kirk's murder.

I am going to say something hard but it is not casual hate, Reiner died (understandably tragically no sarcasm) because he had what wound up being suicidal empathy which is a huge reason we are where are as a society.
He had a duty as a father to try to save his junkie kid, and he died in so doing. I am not mocking that and I am not making light of it. The Ukrainian and the Ginger in NC and IL are dead and burnt because of suicidal empathy on the part of officials. The problem is that Vi Lyles and Brandon Johnson and the rest are not the CAUSE of the evil they are the symptom, there are a lot of people on this soil that love the criminal more than their political opponent. I do not know what the answer is. Posted by: sven at December 15, 2025 12:30 PM (MUJd1) 7

Trump unfortunately posted on social media, which is always an adventure, and often a bad one. Trump essentially claimed that Rob Reiner's "Trump Derangement System" infected people around him and caused his own murder.
This is very, very similar to deranged left-wingers claiming that Charlie Kirk essentially murdered himself by supporting gun rights, or by pumping "hate" out into the world. Amanda Seyfried -- a fading actress who will fade still more -- made that claim. Yep. I thought the same thing when I saw Trump's post. Disappointing. I remember conservatives were ripping the left for their statements about Charlie Kirk's death, blaming him for his own death, and stating that conservatives would never do that if a leftist died. So much for that. Posted by: Clyde Shelton at December 15, 2025 12:33 PM (P5BPp) 19

In the end there is a societal impulse that may counter-intuitively be part of what made this nation great or more rapid in rise than most, we can be suicidally empathetic.
I am not mocking Reiner, and I am not casually throwing heat what killed Reiner in all likelihood is what drives the leftist mind to value the deviant over the sane and hard working. Reiner of course had the burden of it being literally his child as the assailant...he died engaged in in all likelihood his patrial duty. I can understand, and in sadness even admire it as a trait while lamenting its ultimate cost in him towards *his* child. I am at a loss as to the impulse in otherwise sane people to non-relatives. Pop Crush, today, in part -
A Long Battle With Addiction Nick was born on September 14, 1993, the second son of Rob and Michele Reiner. Though raised amid privilege and fame, Nick’s personal struggles became public in 2016 when he opened up about his years-long battle with substance abuse. He said his drug use began in his early teens, leading to his first rehab stint by age 15. Over the next several years, he cycled through more than a dozen rehabilitation programs, often refusing treatment — and at times, disappearing entirely. “I was homeless in Maine. I was homeless in New Jersey. I was homeless in Texas,” Nick previously told People. “I spent nights on the street. I spent weeks on the street. It was not fun.” He added, “If I wanted to do it my way and not go to the programs they were suggesting, then I had to be homeless.” Turning His Struggles Into Art Despite his challenges, Nick turned to writing — co-authoring the 2015 film Being Charlie, a semi-autobiographical story about a young man battling addiction. His father, Rob Reiner, directed the project and called it the most personal film of his career. Posted by: L - No nic, another fine day at December 15, 2025 12:48 PM (NFX2v) 130

God, and God alone will judge each and every one of us in the end. That’s really the only judgement that matters. That said, I don’t know how one holds the moral high ground if you’re celebrating, or reasoning a persons murder. I’m as guilty as the next person, perhaps more for engaging in argumentation that amounts to verbal fisticuffs. But that’s with the living, and if they want to engage, no matter how that engagement takes place, I’ll never shrink from that. But when their life ends, hyperbole disappears and the real truth begins. That doesn’t mean the way the lived their life is any less sad, tragic, wrong, unintellectual or insensate. It just means that particular battle is over.

If others still decide to be assholes despite the fact that I try to be a good person, nothing I can do about that. I can't control the behavior and morals of others, but I can control my own. Integrity is a foundational virtue rooted in the Latin word integer, meaning "whole" or "complete." It refers to the quality of being honest, having strong moral principles, and consistently aligning your actions with your values — even when no one is watching. This sounds like some more weak sauce from that invertebrate Marcus Aurelius. What a RINO! (Roman in name only) Posted by: Archimedes at December 15, 2025 12:52 PM (Riz8t) 162

The moral high ground is lovely but Trump never tries to occupy it, and our side's attempts to do so have mostly only ended in tears, as the Left knows how to manipulate it. Because they know where our weak spot is. One thing Trump knows is how to make a story behave a certain way, which carves the air out of whatever "they" may plan to do with one. And yes, the vile public invective that Reiner was involved in during the last couple of decades is as much of his legacy as his directing career. Don't want people expressing bad thoughts at your funeral, don't be that guy. Part of Trump's appeal to many is not to engage in the phony bullshit political speak that our ruling class engages in. Remember Bush's Religion of Peace bullshit as an example. PM Albanese expressing regret of Australia but somehow neglecting to mention that this was Islamic hatred directed at innocent Jews. It is pretty common for schizophrenia to manifest right around college age. I worked in the field for a good while early on in my career and saw families devastated as a very bright son or daughter descended into the hell of this mental illness. It is not a situation where one goes to a therapist and everything turns out okay. It is a lifelong battle of chemical imbalances most likely exacerbated by drug use but not the primal cause.Shutting down mental institutions and turning them out on the street because of some misguided attempt to give them "freedom" made it worse and why we have homeless encampments and drug overdoses rampant.

While not a fan of Reiner, I did love "Princess Bride" and other films he directed.
No one (well, except serial killers) deserves to be killed by their own son. Stabbing is worse than anything. To be found by their daughter makes this story worse than horrific. I simply want to know of the tiny rumor is true that his son was trans. That's all I want to know. He was probably off his meds and his sister said he was "dangerous." In any photo his eyes are dead, with the fake smile not reaching them. There was probably fear of him for decades. Sad. Trump was wrong to write what he did as I think TDS was the last thing on anyone's mind during this horrifying murder of his parents. I read on TMZ that Nick and Reiner had a loud argument at Conan O'Brian's Christmas party the night prior. One good thing I will say about Rob Reiner...he had compassion about Kirk's death. The fact that Erika forgave his murderer impressed Reiner. While I read he was atheist, he said he was a Jew but that Jesus' writings impressed him. I will NOT be like the Dim haters who were happy when Kirk died. Yet I do want to know if Nick is trans, simply to keep my statistics. May he and his wife RIP Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at December 15, 2025 01:02 PM (WONhk) 251
189 No mention on the condition of the corpses. I am curious about how the son knifed his parents. My suspicion is this might have been really messy.
------------ I read that he slit their throats and when the daughter found them yesterday afternoon, it's been reported that they had been dead for 'some time.' Also read that they and their son went to Conan O'Brien's Xmas party Saturday night and Rob and Nick got into a fight that was overheard by other guests. So maybe he killed them when they returned home from the party. Awful. Posted by: beckster at December 15, 2025 01:02 PM (I7J98) 252

143 God, and God alone will judge each and every one of us in the end.

Here's a difference that I think is important. Charlie Kirk died because of what he stood for. He was killed due to his opinion. Rob Riener was killed by his mentally ill son. If he had been killed due to his outspoken political views, then you could compare the two. When Biden dies of old age, oh well. Same with any of these twits. Now, if any of said twits were murdered for their political views, then that is wrong. I am not celebrating Reiner's death. But you cannot compare the two.

Rehab deals with drug addiction. It does not cue mental illness. So many visits to rehab only to backslide again and again says he was not getting the help he needed. There is not much parents can do when an adult child is so mentally unstable that they are willing to live on the street instread of getting help. You used to be able to commit individuals when they were a danger to themselves or others. Now they just get released back on the streets to assault, pour acid, stab unsuspecting public.

While not a fan of Reiner, I did love "Princess Bride" and other films he directed.
Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at December 15, 2025 01:02 PM "The Princess Bride" will always hold a special place in my heart. I first saw it on a trip to Arizona with my uncle and his wife to visit my other aunt (my uncle's sister) when I was 12 years old in 1988. She was taking care of a ranch for the summer and the first night we were there she set me up in the living room pull-out couch and left the TV on to calm me. There were coyotes howling outside and she could see I was a bit scared. They had satellite TV at the time and there were a ton of channels to watch. My aunt went through the channels for a bit and then settled on "The Princess Bride". That was my introduction to the movie and I have loved it ever since. Saw "A Few Good Men" for the first time freshman year in college and immediately liked it. I remember my roommate and I playing over and over the scene where Tom Cruise rips into Demi Moore for being stupid and missing the day they taught law at law school and laughing our asses off. From what evidence I have, and it is scant, I think the Reiner household was a seething cauldron of anti-Trump sentiment that likely was never turned off. Rob had his father, Carl, stewing in it before he passed. I cannot imagine that it wasn't bubbling beneath the surface in Rob's own home and thus his kids were immersed in it, too. Most of us are not interested in discussing political topics all the time. Discussing politics is practically the only thing that TDS aficionados wish to do. They champ at the bit to unload their political perspective on everything. Disagree with them even mildly and they shunt you off to the MAGA camp and then deem your opinions as not being worthy of their esteemed consideration. There was a guy last week who flew into a shouting match with someone else in the room. Out of that guy's hearing, the other party engaged in the fracas said, "He's probably a Trump supporter" without Trump ever having been mentioned at all in their mutual bellow fest. It's a disease. Posted by: TheJamesMadison ======== Having not read it, I'll take your word for it. But scripts often read flat compared to a book and adaptions of a book often go very wrong (or right). One can read Shakespeare as prose but it can be kind of clunky (unless you have a good imagination or better yet seen the play staged). But in its right milieu, the theater, it can be incandescent depending on the cast and director. As you note, generally trying to put the play into a movie often does not work unless you have someone of the mastery of Welles doing the adaptation. Branagh more inspired and lively version versus Olivier's traditional yet duller version also comes to mind. Posted by: whig at December 15, 2025 01:21 PM (WDjG6) 385

I had a cousin who had classic schizophrenia and a break with reality at 21yrs. Same eyes. Also saw the same eyes with mental patients in the ED. It seems his parents tried everything and in the end none of it mattered. I don't "blame" the parents, but from reading of an interview with the nepo murderer's film of being homeless and drug addled...he blamed his parents. For listening to therapists. He manipulated his parents and gas lighted the blame. Which is now sadly in retrospect. I have yet to see a photo where there is life in his eyes. Even the one of him as a kid he looks sort of mean. Dunno. My cousin was not mean but he (9mo older than me) was always nervous and weird. Clung to me and my brother in HS and college as he could make no friends of his own weird. He once tried to come on to me and I told him I would kill him if he touched me again. And I meant it (ok, I probably would have simply beaten the pulp out of him, then told Daddy). ===== I think figuring on Trump hate is misfiring. They hate the Right, Jesus the judge (instead of lovebombing Jesus who lets sinners go off and sin some more), they hate white people (in this case, lower class icky white people and dissidents to their class types), and so on. When you figure out that they hate us and want us dead en masse, then you start to figure out a lot of what drives them. Making the US bankrupt while making Somalia fraud recipients wealthy--just swell, Islamic threats admitted by Obama and Biden killing us and Jews, just swell. Ham Ass killing Jews, etc. Every vile thing that happens that the left promotes, they rejoice--assassinations, deaths like abortion as a sacrament, lopping off body parts to become miserable and suicidal fake men or women, molesting kids becuz love is love, etc, There is no good among the left nor is there truth among them. Posted by: whig at December 15, 2025 01:47 PM (WDjG6) I don't think it is *just* overuse. A major contributing factor is modern moviemaking does not plan in the first place and thinks that changing CGI to cover errors or on the spot plot changes is cost free. Therefore the CGI is always reacting in a panic, and burning themselves out. With older tech, you could not just go to the model makers and tell them to remake the Millenium Falcon or something. I have a theory - pretty straightforward - drug use as a teen makes you crazy. It screws up your brain development. I also think if you are inclined toward mental illness, it accelerates that. Reiner may have had "heartfelt" condolences for Charlie Kirk, but Trump is absolutely correct. Reiner's words stoking the fires of TDS over the past 10 years certainly contributed to Kirk's murder.
Posted by: MAGA_Ken at December 15, 2025 12:39 PM (Vh9CX) When I came home from work, Mrs. Cop was talking on the phone with one of her sisters about Rob Reiner's murder. Mrs. Cop is not politically-attuned - at all. According to Mrs. Cop, the son, Nick, killed his parents because they said Charlie Kirk didn't deserve to be murdered for his views. I have no idea where Mrs. Cop got this information. If true, Rob Reiner DID get hoist on his own petard. He's been ranting about Trump for a long time. my son is bipolar/schizoaffective.
The key for him is trying to keep the swings under control, because if he goes too far down it's suicide attempts, and too far/long manic, it's psychotic breaks. It is horrible for him, because part of him is watching it all from inside the loop, and it terrifies him. Posted by: barbarausa at December 15, 2025 03:23 PM (enw9G) 538
The republicans need to sit down an tell, Trump they're going to impeach his ass if he doesn't shut the fuck up.

RE Reiner's druggie son did it: One thing's for sure. Reiner did not have his house in order. His kids are a mess!
He has this in common with another of Trump's TDS-suffering Hollywood critics, Rosie O'Donnell. Her kids are a walking freak show. 'Seems to me, before you shoot your mouth off at a sitting President in the public square, you ought to have your ducks in a row at home where, you know, you actually have responsibility and can control outcomes. But, I'm old fashioned, so what do I know? Posted by: steveaz at December 15, 2025 03:38 PM (RuEXQ) 541

Rob Reiner supported legalizing drugs, and his son got hooked on them.

Yeah, I agree I need to micromanage the emotions of a guy the left persecuted legally, tried to wound mortally, who is going to be impeached daily when the apathy of the electorate to willful stupid evil gets them power back because Trump is not the kindest person in the face of it in history.
Makes sense. Posted by: sven at December 15, 2025 12:44 PM (MUJd1) ———— Wrong. Trump is actually a very kind and generous man, very generous. Posted by: Gonzotx at December 15, 2025 05:42 PM (nGraA) 547
Ace, thanks for pointing out Trump's vile hypocrisy on this matter. Though I have been a staunch Trump supporter, I am extremely disappointed in his attack on Rob Reiner by basically claiming that Reiner brought this horrific murder on himself. Indefensible! I could not stand Rob Reiner's political positions nor his overall ideology. He said plenty of anti-conservative and anti-MAGA things I found deeply offensive. Nevertheless, I was heartbroken when I learned he'd been murdered. AND THEN LATER, I saw the Piers Morgan clip of Reiner's compassionate reaction to Charlie's murder. That man may have identified as being Jewish. But his reaction was beautifully Christian. RIP. Posted by: Bach In Black at December 15, 2025 05:46 PM (KY9hS) 548
Trump is on his last term and has zero F's to give. I don't blame him for venting, especially against those who have been so vile to him in the past.

If they tried to shoot me in the head I'd have some lingering hate for a long time too. Besides, it's 2025 and there's just ONE SET OF RULES now. The Left set the rules and Trump just followed them.

At this point, I don't really think Trump should have unsupervised access to a phone.
That is a stupid statement. There isn't anything much more unseemly than using someones death as a soapbox for egotistical point-scoring. I don't care that Reiner was a rabid and unreasonable Lefty, a conciliatory statement would have been an easy win and the right thing to do.
