What do you call a Christmas themed stripper? Holly Daze. ----- There was a man who worked for the Post Office whose job was to process all the mail that had illegible addresses. One day, a letter came addressed in shaky handwriting to God with no address. He thought he should open it to see what it was about. The letter read: Dear God, I am an 83-year-old widow, living on a very small pension. Yesterday someone stole my purse. It had £100 in it, which was all the money I had until my next pension cheque. Next Sunday is Christmas, and I had invited two of my friends over for dinner. Without that money, I have nothing to buy food with. I have no family to turn to, and you are my only hope. Can you please help me? Sincerely, Edna. The postal worker was touched. He showed the letter to all the other workers. Each one dug into his or her wallet and came up with a few pounds. By the time he made the rounds, he had collected £96, which they put into an envelope and sent to the woman. For the rest of the day, all the workers felt a warm glow, thinking of Edna and the dinner she would be able to share with her friends. Christmas came and went. A few days later, another letter came from the same old lady to God. All the workers gathered around while the letter was opened. It read: Dear God, How can I ever thank you enough for what you did for me? Because of your gift of love, I was able to fix a glorious dinner for my friends. We had a very nice day and I told my friends of your wonderful gift. By the way, £ 4 was missing. My Mom was given two adorable stuffed bears for her birthday in November by a co-worker. She thought they were cute, but she felt "silly being a 60 year old woman with stuffed animals" So they were put away and not seen again, until a year later when I opened my Xmas present. A beautiful gift basket and the basket were the bears. I almost died laughing, my reaction was "Mom?!?!? You’re a regifter????" to which she simply said, "why not, I would never have them out and I know you liked them and would display them somewhere.” She was right of course, but I was still floored, who knew Mom was a regifter? It simply wasn't possible. Not my Mom. I lost her 2 years later and those two little bears (one an Angel bear) now mean the world to me. I look at them every day and am so glad Mom was a regifter. I know that Angel bear in particular is my Mom watching over me and letting me know everything is ok. I was never a regifter, but I believe in it now.Fess up. Who has re-gifted a Christmas present? Confession 6: “No idea what happened, but I woke up on a train in Edinburgh (from Birmingham).” Confession 13. “I stole my boss’s desk plant. I still have it, I’ve just never had the guts to give it back. He’s sent angry emails around and everything.”

Why not? You have three options: keep it and never use it and have the gifter ask where it is; throw it away unused, break it. Seems regifting is the superior option. Posted by: OrangeEnt at December 13, 2025 10:08 PM (uQesX) 13

Posted by: tankdemon at December 13, 2025 10:07 PM (R256O) Yes! And if it's made out of the right kind of plastic you could probably cut the feet off of the base, apply some heat to the knee region, bend the legs back to the appropriate angle, let it cool, then glue it back onto the base on it's knees. Maybe also modify the head bobble mechanism so it only bobbles forward and back. > Posted by: a.moron at December 13, 2025 10:16 PM (X5Jzz) 25

I think Ive regifted only once. I generally only give gifts that the person has actually asked for or which I could imagine enjoying and using myself. A regift implies something I dont want, and Im not going to give something that I wouldnt want. I tend to feel the same way about potlucks. I wont bring anything I wouldnt enjoy. I worked in a large office in a time where there were drunken shenanigans during the Christmas party.
I started working at my last job around 1991, the computer department of a small private university. The department was of course even smaller, but we still had Christmas parties and there was still serious alcohol. By the time I retired those parties were much more sanitized. I swear I was not to blame. Posted by: Stephen Price Blair at December 13, 2025 10:29 PM (EXyHK) 81
Die Hard... man.
McCain could have learned about "No wobbly shit" from Weasel when he jumped off that roof tied to a fire hose. (Good thing that table he hid under wasn't wobbly!) And I love the scene where he writes "Ho! Ho! Ho! Now I've got a machine gun" on that dead terrorist's ugly sweater. OK, it was a sweatshirt, but that's just a sweater with the fuzz on the inside. And all of the white lights and colored lights at that helipad on the roof. And that cop would have had a lot better stuff than Twinkies if they had Buc-ees in California. My idea of Heaven is getting a full set of 10 mm socket deep open box box rachet and impact Posted by: rhennigantx Before he passed, i was visiting Dad aand stolee all of his 3/8" sockets and wrenches (he had a Harley). I replaced them with equivalent 10mm tools just to fuck with him. The next time i visited, i put them all out at his work place when he went to the bathroom. He just glared at me. I reminded him of all the times he had me hold the sparkplug so he could check the spark on the mower. He grunted and called me a little shit. Really miss him. Miss our annual motorcycle rides across the country. But it's the little things, like stealing his tools that make me smile. BTW, he got me again with the sparkplug wires by turning over his Harley while I was hooking it back up after gapping it for him. He was 82 and I was old enough to know better. I feel certain my invitation to Berserkers Christmas Metal Extravaganza must've been lost in the mail, so it's lovey to be able to join you all this evening! A friend of mine probably did the most sinister, creative and time consuming prank Christmas gift I've been honored to witness. He got his wife one of those House and Garden pots that plugs in and melts scented wax squares as an air freshener.
The bastard then bought the wax squares, which come in a plastic rectangle with slots for each square. He promptly removed the squares and melted them all down and proceeded to melt down some unscented candles he bought. With the unscented wax he made batches adding the most unpleasant scents you can imagine (Vinegar, Liniment, rotten eggs, spoiled milk). He shaped them using a mold. THEN, took the original scented squares and coated the outside. So, if you smelled them before they melted, it would seem A-OK. Then, he placed them back in the original containers. Wrapped the whole deal and put it under the tree for his wife. This is an ongoing thing with those two. She was impressed with the effort, as were we all. Not a huge fan of punch, altho I own two punch bowls & ladles that I never use. Because you never know when you might need these things. Once, on a college camping trip at the end of spring semester, SOMEONE (not me) must have put Everclear in the punch. Granted, I was there for whatever in the way of drinking (or smoking), but not much of a punch drinker, either, except at weddings where they were often non-alcoholic. I prided myself in keeping it together drinking at parties. I was the last one standing & still cracking jokes. Not that night in the wilderness, bro. I suddenly felt harfy (which is rare), stood up,& l and almost face planted into the camp fire. Which would have been bad in any circumstance to land in a fire on your face, much less hours from a trauma center or hospital. I lurched over a friend's truck, & for reasons unknown, went under his truck to puke. Another friend found me there, as I guess he cared enough to look for me. I remember his face asking me why I was under the truck and I told him I had no idea.Eventually I got out from under the truck. That is exactly how I justify it. Some of the older bags from luxury houses were of such quality that they will likely be passed down to granddaughters. Cost per wear atvthat point will be pennies! I'm glad I bought my bags when they quality was still there. Luxury is no longer worth the cost. Hermes is still very good quality, but I dont care for too many of their bags. I have a Kelly and a Picotin. Don't care for Birkins. I have heard very horrifying stories about how the obtain the skins for their bags, and had I heard them prior to buying mine, I would have researched more and definitely not bought them, if the rumors were true. Not long before Covid, I was looking for another Chanel Boy bag, and could not believe the decline in quality. Strings hanging off, crooked stitching.... for the amount they charge ( more now!) that bag needs to be pristine! Were we supposed to dress for this party? I am in my nightgown. I do have a Christmas nightgown but I am not wearing it tonight. Will get my tiara.
The only Christmas party where things did go wonky was an ED party. The group of docs (about 10 of them) were known to throw these and be asked by the hotels on the beach not to return. Many had rooms there (with spouses or girlfriends). We lived on the island about 5min from this hotel. There was a DJ and dancing. One doc was daring another doc to shots of peppermint schnapps. My husband observed me deciding to use my booze tickets (until then, champagne) to compete with my ED doc buddies. It was a sneaky deal on my system, and my husband said at one point I was dancing alone. We decided to leave & I was feeling a bit off balance but fine. I WAS FINE I told people leaving as well. At home I collapsed into bed and he knew then I was pretty bombed. Got my make up off ( never sleep with it on as a supermodel), & changed. Asked him for a glass of milk as I was going to read for awhile. He slept in another room Woke the next day with the lamp still on and the milk still there. With a massive headache. The last time I had a hangover. Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at December 13, 2025 11:36 PM (WONhk) 234

Some good news from D.C.
President Trump signed an executive order, and this is verbatim, called the "Assuring the Security of the State of Qatar." Quote: "Over the years, the United States and the State of Qatar have been bound together by close cooperation, shared interests, and the close relationship between our armed forces. The state of Qatar has hosted United States forces, enabled critical security operations, and stood as a steadfast ally in pursuit of peace, stability, and prosperity both in the Middle East and abroad, including as a mediator that has assisted the United States' attempts to resolve significant regional and global conflicts." Listen to this: "In recognition of this history and in light of the continuing threats to the state of Qatar posed by foreign aggression, it is the policy of the U.S. to guarantee the security and territorial integrity of the State of Qatar against external attack. The United States shall regard any armed attack on the territory sovereignty or critical infrastructure of the State of Qatar as a threat to the peace and security of the United States." It's great have another close ally in the Middle East! Posted by: Doubting Thomas at December 13, 2025 11:47 PM (2NGiN) 244

I did not bring food, but I did bring Scotch. Dalwhinnie, and I've been there on our son's tour of the Highland distilleries. I don't remember a whole lot but it was pretty and I had fun.
Does this count? Baby,it's cold outside. But no snow to speak of...oh, sure, up in the mountains. But I need it in my yard, stat! I am trying to make the best of it but I am super mad that states like Indiana have snow and we don't here in ski country. We need it for water next summer, so it is not simply because I am having a tantrum for a white Christmas. My husband tells me that there's a chance. I think he's only saying this to keep me from flipping out. Posted by: ChristyBlinkyTheGreat at December 13, 2025 11:48 PM (WONhk) 246

Ooooo. Silver lame! You look stunning, Ben Had!

Thank you, JQ. A Balvenie please.

It took me an hour and 20 mins (normally a 20 min drive) to get home.
It was not that bad, although the stop and go traffic meant the mustang had a bit of traction issues. Plus, Lexington could not be bothered to do any road treatment. Posted by: Aetius451AD at December 14, 2025 01:24 AM (bss/y) 345
I'm late. What happened to the party? Did the cops come and break it up?

Party seems to be cooling down, before the next shift anyway. I'm going to get out of the way of all you hearty young partiers. Maybe catch you in the book thread. Maybe not. (Throws a Rwandan thousand-franc note in the tip jar. Tears off a chunk of fruitcake. Nom nom.)

I'm back, it was like a MoMe out there by the firepit, just having so many lovely conversations. Baby its cold outside, need some more Chivas to warm me up. I'm sorry that I missed Ben Had, but I am glad that the party is still going on.

Oh, right... you missed her. Dang. She looked very festive!
Posted by: JQ at December 14, 2025 02:05 AM (rdVOm) 366
I use my Aunt Belle Chester's Chex mix recipe. It has one of the Chex cereals, Kix cereal, plain Cheerios, skinny pretzels instead of the curled kind, mixed nuts, not peanuts, and I add whole raw pecan halves, too. And of course Worcestershire sauce, butter, and all sorts of spices, including Cayenne pepper and allspice or Chinese 5 spice, and more.
So good. Posted by: Tammy al-Thor at December 14, 2025 02:06 AM (Vvh2V) 367

Posted by: JQ ------- All good. Some read all, some none, and between. And it's easier to copy/paste - which sometimes things get missed/errors. Better than and open tag! Those are harder to find. Posted by: scampydog at December 14, 2025 02:12 AM (41CYW) 368
LOL, Doggo. The whole ONT is awesome tonight, 3Ds really rocked it this time.

Good night AOP, I am headed to bed too, little family Christmas get together was postponed until tomorrow. I am tired, JQ and the three D's did one heck of a job tonight. I missed Miklos tonight. Bers, I hope that your party was a blast. Sweet dreams Horde.

Well, my house is still standing, no food on the walls, or floors, and nobody died. I'm calling it a win. Party went good. I'm sitting on 3 1/2 cases of beer, because nobody touched the 3 cases I bought and brought a shitload of their own. Somebody brought a shit ton of mead, the good stuff from Denmark, so we consumed copious amounts. The last person just left. I'm not even tired.
