Lefties Continue To Live in Denial, But Gas Prices Are Now Under $2/Gallon in Some Parts of the Country

When is Trump going to fulfill his campaign promise of reducing inflation?

Wait, he already has?

Well in that case, when is he going to stop murdering poor innocent narcoterrorist drug smugglers?! Huh, racist?!

US gas prices fell below $3 on Tuesday for the first time since May 2021, according to AAA.

The national average price for regular gas dropped to $2.998 a gallon, down from $3.001 the previous day, according to the fuel price tracker.

It was also down from $3.036 a month ago and $3.05 this time last year.

Low prices at the pump come as Americans have been beaten down by sticky inflation and a weak labor market.

A survey from the Conference Board last week found consumer confidence plunged to 88.7 in November -- down from 95.5 in October. That's the lowest level since April.

...

Recent weeks have seen President Trump tout his affordability agenda as Americans shell out more on everything from a cup of joe to plush sofas and kids' toys.

But on Tuesday, the average price of gas dipped below $2.75 a gallon in 18 states including New Mexico, South Carolina, Wisconsin, Iowa and Colorado, according to AAA.

Gas prices dropped alongside oil costs as the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, or OPEC, ramped up its production of oil -- keeping supply higher than demand and sending a barrel of crude down to just $59 as of Tuesday.

You may wonder where I got the "under $2/gallon" fact. That's from local news reports compiled in a Black Conservative Perspective video, linked below. That video also features leftists coping and seething and denying that gas prices have come down, even as they drop to $2 or less.

Last week, Axios actually admitted that the economy is, get this, strong.

Axios perhaps just inadvertently committed one of the most based forms of narrative-wrecking journalism ever to hit the leftist media ecosphere by admitting the Trump economy is a lot better than what the propaganda suggests.

Axios economics reporter Courtenay Brown and Chief Economics Correspondent Neil Irwin -- the latter of which forecasted economic doom since President Donald Trump first took office -- released a shocking Thanksgiving Eve story declaring that "the biggest-picture indicators point to this being one of the better economies of modern times."

Talk about a seismic concession for an outlet that had been routinely denigrating Trump's agenda from the get-go. As Brown and Irwin wrote, "There have been plenty of ominous warnings this year about the job market, trade war-fueled inflation, asset bubbles, and more. The mighty U.S. economy has chugged ahead in 2025 despite them all." In fact, "through 11 months of 2025, the overall trajectory is pretty darn solid." Well, dang!

But of course, the authors tried to throw President Joe Biden a line by tracing some of the markers as far back as his administration, which makes sense given that Irwin was a notorious Bidenomics simp. Brown and Irwin pointed to a bevy of economic indicators such as unemployment remaining under 4.5 percent for 47 consecutive months, glossing over the fact that during Biden's term, millions were still missing from the labor force. But now, as EJ Antoni pointed out based on the recent September jobs numbers, "Net job growth in Sep was from full-time hiring and replacing part-time work w/ those full-time jobs; this is a welcomed improvement after the weakness earlier in the year."

Below: Amy Klobuchar tried to dunk on Trump by posting the below chart.

1, she was so stupid she didn't realize that the chart showed that electricity prices skyrocketed under Biden. Trump's ten months in office (for term 2) come right at the end of the chart.

2, the chart doesn't even show electricity prices. It shows how much people owe for past electricity bills. This means it's even more reflective of Biden's inflation than we thought, because people who owed money for past energy bills accrued under Biden's regime will still owe much/most of that money.

50 The Blade has been screaming from the rooftops that the economy is in strong shape and Trump has done a great job righting the sinking Titanic he was handed by Joey Shitface.

This is a big success story that should be shouted from the rooftops. $2 gas? Are you pulling my dick? That's fantastic and puts real money back in people's pockets. Lotsa goods and services have gone down in price.

But too many people -- including too many conservatives -- just like to doomsay and whine about the price of beef and some other goods that have increased in price (due to no fault of Trump's).

Yes, beef is expensive, especially high-quality beef. If you want wagyu or prime porterhouse, you are always gonna pay. But chicken and pork is much cheaper. And despite the high price of beef, there are always sales on beef in the supermarkets I shop at.

If only the proteins came down the same way. Although I guess it's a healthier diet to eat 4-5 veg with the protein. Like today's Trader Joe's orange chicken will be half as much chicken b/c I'm making a veg stir fry for under it. Better to have less sauce and breading and all the veg.

It's always important to remember.

We expect positive job numbers because our population grows. The 150,000 number thrown around for years was the base assumption of people entering the workforce because of population growth.

However, we are now in population shrinkage. Deportations (both self and forced) are so high right now that we're probably going to see net smaller population in 2026 than at the start of 2025.

135 Though now little-seen, the funniest Buster Keaton movie (don't know the title) involves him running a gas statin out in the boondocks on a dusty road, in the 1920s. Everything is gong fine, until a rival station opens up across the street. t first Buster has gas at 28¢/gallon, but when the rival station lowers their rice to 27¢/gallon, all the Model T line up there, and Buster get no customers. So he lowers his price to 26¢/gallon, and everyone swarms across the road to his side. An insane price war erupts, and finally concludes with the rvialk station lowering prices to 1¢/gallon, with cars lining up to the horizon, s buster has n choice but to pyt up a sign saying "FREE GAS," at which point baically every car in the state descends on his station, and in the final scene he is left bankrupt, sitting confused in the dirt.

Best illustration of how economics work ever filmed.

If the produce prices stay the same as they have this week, I can handle the protein costs. I admit that a certain Bezos run operation sold me 10 cent onions, 18 cent bell peppers, 32 cent tomatoes, and 63 cent cucumbers...and that's just a start. Chili is on the list tomorrow b/c I told the spouse, how could I not buy.

I tried to get pie pumpkins for 10 cents each, but those didn't deliver. Oh well. Delivery didn't cost me anything.

Competition is great b/c now Aldi's loss leaders has a competitor...

Not sure I understand why the state has wound up with such a bunch of left-wing idiots, although I'm sure the influx of immigrants hasn't helped, and I suppose the historic strength of the Democratic Party (or that unique beast, the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party) has given the donks a pretty strong machine. And naturally, there is the city/rural dichotomy that plagues virtually every state. It's just that we've heard that "Minnesota may be in play" the last two or three elections, and it never turns out to be. Cattle herds are at all-time lows, due in part to stupid govt policies under Biden. That, plus beef is right now very popular especially with the affluent set. Steakhouses are popping up everywhere. Women are eating more beef.

When you have lower supply and higher demand, then prices will of course go up.

But even then, while nice cuts like choice are expensive, the lower-quality cuts are still fairly reasonable. London Broil is about $7 a pound at my supermarket.

They can’t lower the price at the pump immediately for less than they already paid + profit on their existing inventory it doesn’t work that way. Not if they want to stay in business anyway.

By historical standards that pretty low. In the 70s, 80s and 90s people would have given their first born for a mortgage that cheap. Even in the 2000s 5-6% was about average.

It was post 2008 ZIRP that created ultra cheap loans in the 3s and 4s and then it went on steroids during the COVID madness. but it was never sustainable.

6% is really what mortgages should be.

If gas prices drop sharply here, they'll say that now we can afford higher gas taxes. The price won't drop, because of unique California seasonal

232 My opinion for and some other prices are still way too high. With food in particular, there has been a lot of consolidation in food companies, especially with foreign ownership taking over. That’s putting pressure on their margins, which they insidiously grew during COVID and refuse to budge from. They also shrunk package sizes and cheapened the ingredients with a lot of fillers. In the end, you get less, have a much more inferior product and needlessly pay more to cover the multinationals greed to maintain margins.

248 not to criticise the administration, but the fact that inflationary growth rates have largely abated has not really translated into any appreciable economic pressure relief for the middle class. while prices are not rising as quickly as they once were (except in the sectors adjacent to the AI bubble), they have not come down to levels of what they "would have been" without extended COVID lockdowns the biden splurge (yes, deflation is bad), and for most workers, salaries and wages simply have not risen to levels that can withstand the new higher price points.

people realise that their hard work buys them less stuff than it used to. while it's not this administration's fault, it's natural that they will be the primary targets of political resentment over the population's dimished purchasing power.

I have been looking into the history of buffalo. There is growing belief that the immense herds were an anomaly and that they were declining long before settlers moved across the Mississippi. In fact, there is documented evidence of mass buffalo population decline before 1850. One reason was natural decline, the other was the plains indians learning to use horses to hunt, dramatically increasing their lethality.

It was set to shut down in April, but HA ran a piece yesterday stating that Valero was already terminating all crude supply products, so it looks like it's going to be shut down just after the first of the year.

Gavin was trying to offer incentives to keep it open, and the company said "screw it, we're done." And there were no buyers - it's just being shut down cold, as a pure loss. This is going to be a huge, irreplaceable shortage to California markets, and may send California prices to $8 per gallon next year, no matter what is happening in the rest of the country.

My favorite part of that scheme is after they eliminate plastic bags, they put a tax on the paper bag that’s now offered to you at the grocery store.

By the way, part of their appeal is these bags are dangerous to wildlife. But that’s not true. Every year I outfit the deer around here with plastic bag suits for the winter. It keeps the rain and snow off their bags and they seem appreciative.

There is a reason why the immigration problem has existed for decades despite it being a 70/30 issue against it, and that reason is that the wealthy want it and have the financial power to get what they want.

You list the price difference from 2024 to 2025 and the return to the pocketbook, the healthy food you could make, and how easy it is.

B/c I got such cheap onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes, I'm betting a basket with eggs could be a fun Western omelet...ham must be cheap with Thanksgiving over...

Call it the "5 ingredient challenge" with only oil and s&p allowed as extras...

Yup...I was limiting to 5, but you could do cheese, too, or have that as another basket. It would be like a whole month of healthy eating - maybe it should kick of January when everyone wants to eat healthy and he can try to make it stick (and it's good PR on prices and a good push of his "healthy eating, healthy living" campaign)...

386 4% and 3% mortgages were rates that never existed before - and certainly at least as far back as the 80s of my yoot. Modern-day homebuyers that took advantage of those rates were lucky beyond belief. Unfortunately, they think that those rates are 'normal'. They aren't.

Truth!

And while 6% rates aren't objectively "bad", the market *perceives* that rates "should" be a little lower, so its keeping any momentum from building in the housing market.

=======

I think the larger problem with housing was the glut of demand stemming from first the emptying out of cities (to the small degree they did) in 2020/2021 and the increase in population from immigration (yes, illegals were being offered mortgages).

Builders have been over building for years to meet that, and this issue should largely even out on its own.

The bigger problem with rates is the more direct problem with rates: interest on government debt.

Interestingly enough, on this morning's Sean Spicer and Dan Turrentine political show, The Huddle, they were talking about Stefanik and her beef with Johnson. It's personal with her, and this goes back to the time where Stefanik left leadership to get nominated as UN Ambassador, and Johnson ended up slow walking her nom to the point where Trump had to pull it. When she wanted to get back into leadership Johnson said no way. Bottom line per them - she'd been well and truly shafted, and wants payback.

It's the whole economic system is geared by the interest rate.
And right now 6% is high. It's high to builders, businesses and to regular people. When we made our 10% loans (if we were lucky)
that's the way everything was set up.

After Powell, when the Fed lowers the rate, it will be boom city.
