Trump to Maduro: Get Out or Get Dead

I'm sure Tucker Carlson will bring up lots of conspiracy theories about monied Venezuelans controlling our country and pushing us towards war.

Oh wait, they're not Jewish. Forget it.

President Trump gave Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro a strongly worded ultimatum as tensions flared with the South American nation -- telling him to resign and leave or else, according to a bombshell report.
During a call between Trump and Maduro, the socialist president demanded that he be allowed to maintain control of Venezuela's military if he paved the way for free elections there, said the Miami Herald, citing sources. Maduro also reportedly sought global amnesty for all of his alleged crimes.
Trump's refusal on both counts was said to be swift as he followed up with an offer that Maduro may not be able to refuse: Leave now or else.

The pair's talks quickly broke down, with a US pol Sunday lamenting that the ongoing "war" between the two sides is already deadlier than Vietnam for his state.
"It killed 100,000 Americans last year," McCormick said of the drug trade. "That's twice the number of people that died in eight years of Vietnam -- 4,000 Pennsylvanians."
After the phone call between Trump and Maduro failed to reach a detente, the US president announced he was closing the airspace around the South American country, as America's largest warship, the USS Gerald F. Ford -- and a Marine expeditionary unit, capable of amphibious invasion -- float offshore.
Trump also warned over the weekend that military operations inside Venezuela could begin "very soon."

Trump only told reporters Sunday that he spoke with Maduro recently, adding, "I wouldn't say it went well or badly."

Trump informed Maduro during their chat that Maduro, his wife and son would be allowed to leave Venezuela safely, but they must do it immediately, sources said.
"First, Maduro asked for global amnesty for any crimes he and his group had committed, and that was rejected," a source familiar with the call told the Herald.
"Second, they asked to retain control of the armed forces -- similar to what happened in Nicaragua in '91 with Violeta Chamorro. In return, they would allow free elections," the source said.
That proposal was also rejected, while the demand that Maduro resign immediately was made.
The offer of amnesty was also extended to Maduro's top allies, the Herald noted.
After the breakdown, Trump ramped up pressure on Venezuela and warned that the US would target drug-trafficking networks "by land" soon.
By Saturday, he made an announcement on social media that Venezuela's airspace should be considered "closed in its entirety," stoking fears of a looming war in the South American country of 28 million people.
It remains unclear how Trump intends to enforce the no-fly decree, as the US has no authority over Venezuelan airspace.
But by Sunday afternoon, a FlightRadar24 map showed that there were no international planes flying over Venezuela.

That's why they've gone so hard for drug smuggling, the profits from that are paying his soldiers. That's why blowing up the drug boats is so important, every one taken out is another piece out of the Jenga tower holding Maduro up.

Venezuela has oil production, but their industry is in tatters - all the people who knew how to run the refineries and such have been run out of the country long ago. Maduro has highly technical operations being handled by illiterate 19 year old thugs.

If you worked for a largeish company back when pensions were common - meaning anytime prior to say 2000, and were there more than 5 years, you may have a pension coming. It's amazing that no one pays attention to them now - but they're sinking back into being worse than the island was when Columbus first sailed there. Electricity, at best, is on 2 - 3 hours a day; sugar production, their only income producing crop, is the lowest its been in 100 years; all of the professionals have left and the island is pretty much just populated now by the elderly, the sick, and the mentally deficient.

Anyone could walk in and take it over, but no one will because it's such a wreck no one wants it. It's just a giant toxic waste dump now.

And what gives me the most anxiety is that this premonition may be of truth and there will be a shrieking, at approximately 5:40am and I will follow it into the ghastly outside.

My guess is if it's a defined benefit plan you'll get approximately 10 - 15% of your average salary of your last 5 years there. That's usually how they work. That would also explain why they need time to calculate the number. You may or may not have a lump-sum option. If you're married your spouse will probably have to sign off on the final form of payout.

If you were married while you worked there and subsequently divorced you may want to check if your former spouse has a claim to part of it also.

247 There was a small story about a week ago which no one paid much attention to, but which I believe shone a huge light on what Trump is doing in Venezuela. This is when a US Destroyer blocked a Russian tanker from delivering a large shipment of gasoline to Venezuela.

You might ask wait a minute - aren't oil products supposed to be coming OUT of Venezuela? But that's the key. Venezuelan refineries are too broken down to produce as much gasoline as they need daily - and why do they need it so badly? Not for cars, not for transportation - rather, Venezuelan crude is so thick and tarlike that it can't be pumped through pipelines unless it's cut with a lot of lightweight products like gasoline. That's why Russia was sending it to them. Without a steady supply of gasoline coming in from the outside, Venezuela's entire oil industry quickly grinds to a halt.

Shut down the drug boats, shut down the oil pipelines - that's what Trump is doing, and Maduro is going broke very quickly now. Time is running out, and Maduro's allies in the Deep State are desperate to do anything to throw him a lifeline before Trump succeeds.

Colombian is just a processing center. The cartels and revolutionaries bring in coca paste from Peru and Bolivia, process it and run most of it to Venezuela for transport, since Venezuela doesn't have to deal with the Colombian navy. Colombia still ships in the Pacific I am told. It used to come out of Colombia by plane into the US [not by Evergreen I am assured by so many people, they just flew supplies to the Contras. Honest]
The Venezuelans ship by fast boat to the Caribbean islands where it is split up for Europe, Africa and the Americas and shipped out in heavier hulls. There was one of those semi-submerged subs picked up off of Portugal too, so there is a lot of variety. Lots and lots of money makes lots and lots of innovation.
