![]() (Yes, that's a real ornament of mine) An indictment filed in a Texas federal court accuses Gavin Rivers Weisenburg, 21, and Tanner Christopher Thomas, 20, of planning to recruit an army of homeless people, buy a sailboat and seize power on Gonave Island, an island off the coast of Haiti with a population of about 87,000 residents. The two young men allegedly planned to recruit homeless people from Washington, D.C. to serve as their “mercenary force” during their grand coup d’etat. According to court files, Weisenburg and Thomas had researched Gonave Island and concluded that it had a very weak government, almost no infrastructure, and had been crippled by poverty. They concluded that it could be taken over through a brutal invasion that would eliminate the local men and turn the women and children into slaves.Check out the whole thing. Seriously. Video segment at the link. Maybe one of you writers could tuen this into a movie or miniseries. C'mon - do it! ![]() Just kidding -- Piper has returned this week! ----- Melania Trump's Holiday Chic As the holiday season sweeps in, First Lady Melania Trump turned heads with festive flair. From welcoming the White House Christmas tree to pardoning turkeys in true presidential tradition, Melania's wardrobe choices over the past week have perfectly captured the spirit of glamour. Kicking off the week on a high note, Melania greeted the arrival of the official 2025 White House Christmas Tree—a towering evergreen from Korson's Tree Farms in Michigan—with an ensemble that was holiday without veering into kitsch. She opted for a floor-length Christian Dior Palto Coat in ecru double-sided virgin wool and angora blend felt, cinched at the waist. The real magic? Her accessories. Forzieri cashmere lined Italian leather gloves in red added a pop of seasonal cheer, a rewear from 2018. Completing the look were Manolo Blahnik BB 105 Pux Heel in a subtle tartan plaid. The look was this southern girl’s dream- holiday elegance delivered with the soft confidence of someone raised on monograms and good manners.
![]() Transitioning seamlessly from Christmas prep to Thanksgiving tradition, Melania joined President Trump for the annual turkey pardon ceremony, where Gobble and Waddle earned their tickets to a leisurely life at North Carolina State University. FLOTUS chose an Anine Bing Leon bomber jacket in dark brown, a Ralph Lauren Collection cashmere turtleneck also in dark brown, and a Ralph Lauren Collection Mychele wool herringbone skirt finished with Christian Louboutin So Kate 105 Pumps in brown.
![]() On Thanksgiving at Mar-a-Lago, Melania wore a Michael Kors Collection Hansen Charmeuse shirt in black and a Dolce & Gabbana Lamé Lace midi skirt. It was bold, yes, but never loud. The metallic thread glinted just enough to remind you that grace and a little daring have always been welcome companions.
![]() If there’s one thing Melania Trump taught us this week, it’s that holiday style doesn’t have to scream louder than your Aunt Linda after two glasses of champagne—it just has to whisper while winkin’ at the camera. So grab your own belted coat, find yourself a bold red accessory, and strut into December like you’re about to decorate a 20-foot tree before lunch. Because if Melania can do it in four-inch stilettos on the White House lawn, bless it, so can we. ----- Thanks, Piper - great to have you back! I have one of those drywall hammers. I used it for some years then switched over to a drywall screw gun when they got popular that has a depth adjustment to set the screws at the right depth. Not quite as fast as nails, but better installation in the long run. BTW, I'm not sure that dude in the film is hanging drywall as we know it. Its probably what they called rock lath, its a base for plaster that replaced the older wood lath which took forever to install. The 2x4 size panels is kind of a giveaway. I ran across it a lot in the older homes. The first version had a series of 3/4" holes (approx) drilled into it to grab the undercoat of plaster, basically the "grey" rougher plaster found under the smoother white plaster top coat.

Dan Post boots and Cody James models still offer the rounded toe, and you can get that style in Tecovas models, so it isn't gone completely. To me the wide square toe looks like a duck's foot -- hardly the image of a tough American cowboy.
I'm thinking I'll get a pair of the regular cowboy boots in a caramel color -- no exotic leather, just cowhide or goat. Distressed would be fine. If I get a black pair, a satin finish would be my preference. My current Dan Posts are a black cherry color, and look sharp with jeans or with brown casual slacks. Posted by: the way I see it at November 30, 2025 10:47 PM (KDPiq) That shit was the bane of my existence when working in the old houses. On the other hand we used to save a lot of it because the rough cut 2X4s used back then would be all different levels when you put a straight edge across them, so we used the wood lath to pack out the shallow 2x4s so the walls would be straight for sheetrock and not have any dips or waves. The wood lath varied in thickness, so it was good. You only needed to find the right thickness for whatever 2x4 you were dealing with. My oldest friend had an early "large format" cassette machine. It sat up high like a radio set, and the cassette itself was huge -- to contain two of the very small reel-to-reel tapes. The thing had a terrible microphone. He used it to record episodes of Trek, just the sound of course, and the playback wasn't very good. Still, it was an interesting device. When the small ones appeared in my stores, and you could play them in your car (instead of those awkward 8-Tracks), I always thought of their ancestor.

I did have a pair of chocolate-colored goatskin cowboy boots -- picked up at a store closing sale in Denver in 1997. I wore them for many years and had them resoled as necessary, until the shoe repair shop said they could no longer resole them; it would take up too much of the upper leather and make the boots too small. I'd never heard that before.

Posted by: banana Dream at November 30, 2025 11:13 PM (3uBP9) Oh yeah, some people can be lethal to a house. I'll never forget this one job. There wasn't even a kitchen or bath involved because we had branched out into actual restoration. This poor house. It was a beautiful 3 floor old house that had a round 3 floor corner tower. They had an electrician friend come in to do a job. When I say it looked like the 3 stooges did it, I..am ..not...frigging..kidding. Beautiful hardwood floors that had 12"X12" holes cut into them as if somebody plunged a circular saw into it. I can just hear Curly giggling while doing it. They had 2x2 wholes blasted into plaster walls where a single receptacle box hung by a wire and not anchored, and that was done in a lot of locations. We were there over a month. We had to sheetrock some entire rooms, plaster whole walls in others. We had to fit pieces of oak into the ruined floors which then needed to be sanded and refinished, and on and on. It was sickening what they did. Posted by: Berserker-Dragonheads Division at November 30, 2025 11:42 PM (snZF9) 278

Weird lights in the sky. It's mostly cloudy, not quite overcast, but lights were moving back & forth across the clouds. Obviously, somebody has a very bright light and was aiming it at the sky. Colors, too! Pretty cool, and fun for a kid or a *big kid* LOL. Posted by: the way I see it But the thing is, they’re big mad because there were no survivors. What’s astounding is that they’re trying to push this like it’s some impeachable thing - but the story even as told is stupid as all get out, and it’s already falling apart more. Start with this fact: a Hellfire missile has a killing radius of 20 meters, extending to 5O meters with shrapnel taken into account, and this was only a 30’ boat. Everyone on it was dead after the first hit, and IF there was a second shot, it was only to make sure the wreck wasn’t floating where someone else could fish some fentanyl packages out of it. OK, But the nebulous 'War Crime' as is there is some body of Law from some Government with supremacy over the Constitution? ya... uh... no. The closest thing is the Geneva Convention, which says it is quite OK to outright kill Terrorists, and unarmed combatants... but I don't think I've ever heard of someone being Prosecuted in US Courts, for violating the Geneva Convention. there is apparently a 'War Crimes Act of 1996' that makes 'grave' violations of the conventions prosecutable under US law... but it never gives specifics, as to what actions are criminal... so vague as to be meaningless. You suggested using a compound tin snips to cut through the metal wrapped tightly around the auger shaft. Fortunately, such a tool was at hand (a Wiss brand, could have been my dad's), and it worked its magic. That saved me from the big job of removing the auger. When it wouldn't start, I thought it might have been because I tipped it back to work on it. But I recalled taking the precaution of pulling off the spark plug wire. Started right up; did the garage apron and sixty yards of alley in heavy snow. No heart attack today. :-) Posted by: JM in Illinois at December 01, 2025 12:47 AM (NOSDa) 340

Posted by: Thomas Bender at November 30, 2025 11:32 PM (XV/Pl) As much as I dislike the AoS Isolationist and Code Pinker set, I may sound like one here. But hear me out: Unless Venezuela does something like invade Guyana, I would not touch the place. It is better for Maduro to be tossed organically rather than give commies and anti-Americans the propaganda gift of “well such and such is just a Yankee puppet”. Plink their drug trade in international waters. DIME this one out as with all things. Posted by: Cow Demon at December 01, 2025 12:47 AM (4786I) 341
"Trump isn’t just closing airspace, he’s cutting the oxygen to the deep-state money laundering superhighway that’s been funding black sites, color revolutions, and child trafficking networks across the hemisphere. Land operations begin “VERY SOON.”
Translation: The white hats are moving in to seize the servers, the tunnels, and the ledgers the mockingbird media swore didn’t exist. The storm over Caracas is about to expose everything." That said, there are a lot of tyrants in the world and it is not America's job to unseat them. Suppose some Cubans decide Trump is not a proper Communist so unfit to rule over us.
Posted by: gKWVE at November 30, 2025 11:25 PM (8zJKU) Ah, there’s my isolationist/ Code Pinker… Some Cubans have thought that but they can’t. The end.
