[Mount Gilbert du Motier]

That mountain is 5,249 feet high, and it is so short in comparison to the mountains of the western United States that I can't even find it on a ranking list! It's a great hike during the summer, but since it is in the White Mountains, which is smack dab in the middle of weather that originates in Northern Canada, it can be miserable and dangerous any other time of the year.

Interestingly, the top of the mountain is in an Alpine Zone, which means the weather is so crappy that only small plants grow. No trees!

And for you layabouts and slugabeds, unlike Mount Washington, there is no road, so you will have to get off the couch and walk! But it is worth it...the views are wonderful, especially if you like fog and low clouds. Yeah; I would wait for good weather before climbing it.

******

This is from the mostly wonderful Daniel Greenfield. And even he doesn't get the whole picture! These so-called "Afghan allies" of ours when we were in that 3rd-World Sh*thole country weren't doing it out of some desire to assist America, or to bring enlightened Jeffersonian democracy to Afghanistan.

They assisted American armed forces because we were the power in the country, and they knew that aligning themselves with America would allow them to conduct their own vendettas under our shield. These people are tribal, and have no sense of patriotism. They are loyal to family, clan, tribe...and nothing else.

They are also savages with no respect for human life. That they are murderers in the Western sense isn't just unsurprising, it should be expected!

Afghan Refugees Killed 55 People, Wounded 92 in U.S.

The whole idea of leaving Afghanistan was that Afghans would no longer be able to kill Americans. But Biden’s disastrous Operation Allies Welcome program turned the problem on its head by bringing 100,000 Afghans to America. The previous distribution of visas to Afghan 'allies' handed out over 50,000 SIV visas to supposed allies. Those unwise moves brought Afghan terror to America. And now our soldiers are fighting Afghans in the streets of D.C.

Instead of leaving Afghanistan, we imported it to America, now it's time to deport it back.

This is the existential fight, and America isn't even aware that it is in a battle!

Every bit of the culture these people brought to America is antithetical to everything that America is based upon, and everything that we have created over the last 250 years. There is no way to find some common ground with them, because they are a binary society...it is them or us!

Okay, maybe I am on a bit of a Steve Earle kick, but I think he is a solid musician and singer.

******

Oh, what the hell, let's stick to the very general genre of country! Or Country Rock.

Merle Haggard: Mamma Tried

Patsy Cline: Crazy

Little Feat: Two Trains

******

And what kind of music is Hootie And The Blowfish? Blues Rock...I guess. But they are distinctive, and almost always worth a listen.

31 Schumer's newest stunt is why I'm against any kind of belligerent posturing.

Whether it's spiking the maneuver for momentary political advantage as Schumer & Co. are trying to do, or pointlessly drawing out a war for long-term political gain and spiking it later like Obama & Biden, or opening back channels to the enemy like Milley, Dems will *ALWAYS* ensure the victory of *EVERY* adversary.

And every one of our enemies & allies knows this - whether it takes 20 minutes, or 20 years, the Dems will eventually ride to the rescue. America simply cannot win a war ever again, as long as they remain inside the wire.

159 >>In a serious country Kelly would already have been arrested and his trial would have been scheduled.

Right after the video, Hegseth ordered one of his underlings, maybe Sec of the Navy I don't remember, to investigate and give him a report by sometime next week.

I think some of should read the link to the Byron York tweet highlighting the recently released NYT article that says 5 Pentagon sources say that Hegseth gave the admiral running the operation to shoot to kill but then never gave any other orders and let the admiral run the operation.

The double tap hoax is over. Interestingly, it's the NYT's the blew them up, pun intended. When has that happened.

Whip antennas for car radios did not become popular before the late 1930's. For that matter, car radios were an expensive novelty in most makes until post WWII. In the early '30's, car radios either had a wire antenna concealed in the fabric roof insert, or a grid of wires mounted beneath the running board.

234 So what was the deal with the tall stovepipe hats, and bowlers? They don’t do anything to keep the sun off, and are useless in the rain. Just for show

Made of felt or beaver fur, so possibly for warmth?

I think it was probably a vanity thing so that the wearer was more noticeable in crowds and conferred status.

Though the hollowed out crown would be a good place to stash letters or loot for travelers and politicians.

You could stuff a nice little .32 top break revolver into the crown of a stovepipe hat.

248 LMAO...I asked AI if there was anything practical about a top hat.

"Yes, a top hat had practical uses like sun and rain protection, and it could be sturdy enough for tasks like standing on to see over obstacles, with collapsible opera hats being a design for convenience. Some tall, stovepipe top hats even served as a place for President Abraham Lincoln to store notes and speeches."

IMO, that's pretty weak for practicality. And, I don't think they were making hats back then that could take 200 lbs. so you could look over the fence at your neighbor sunbathing in a Mumu.
