Leftwing Propaganda Media Declares DOGE Dead

Reuters is claiming that DOGE is dead.

They claimed disco was dead, too. But it still lives on in garrett's heart.

Matt Margolis reports on Reuters cutting and splicing an official's comments to make it sound like he's urging J6 protesters to burn down the Capitol.

Wait, that's what they did to Trump on J6. I mean, they edited his comments to make it sound like he's saying DOGE is dead, when that isn't what he said at all.

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) was launched with a bold mission: cut the fat out of the federal government and save taxpayer money. The left hates DOGE and everything about it.

So, you can imagine how thrilled Democrats were when Reuters reported on Monday that DOGE "doesn't exist" anymore.

U.S. President Donald Trump's Department of Government Efficiency has disbanded with eight months left to its mandate, ending an initiative launched with fanfare as a symbol of Trump's pledge to slash the government's size but which critics say delivered few measurable savings.

" That doesn't exist," Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor told Reuters earlier this month when asked about DOGE's status.

The media pounced on this narrative, declaring DOGE dead, the usual suspects drooling over their keyboards to write misleading headlines, delivering eulogies declaring DOGE a failure.

But, DOGE isn't dead. In fact, the article claiming that DOGE doesn't exist anymore was actually true. Kupor's full comments were spliced. Here's how the article actually read:

"That doesn't exist," Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor told Reuters earlier this month when asked about DOGE's status.

It is no longer a "centralized entity," Kupor added, in the first public comments from the Trump administration on the end of DOGE.

Kupor went on X and blasted Reuters for splicing his comments, clarifying that DOGE as a formal agency might be no more, and that its leadership has shifted under the U.S. Digital Service; the mission itself isn't dead.

Scott Kupor
@skupor

Good editing by @reuters - spliced my full comments across paragraphs 2/3 to create a grabbing headline 🙂 The truth is: DOGE may not have centralized leadership under @USDS. But, the principles of DOGE remain alive and well: de-regulation; eliminating fraud, waste and abuse; re-shaping the federal workforce; making efficiency a first-class citizen; etc. DOGE catalyzed these changes; the agencies along with @USOPM and @WHOMB will institutionalize them!

John Loftus writes that DOGE, whether technically dead or not, largely failed in its mission.

Unfortunately, Elon Musk wasn't able to deliver on the $2 trillion in savings, then cut to $1 trillion, he promised. (And this sparked his earlier feud with Trump.)

DOGE pledged to save the American taxpayers $1 trillion, but they have fallen well short of that goal, even according to their own accounting. As of Monday, DOGE's website claims the department had secured $214 billion in savings, equivalent to $1,329.19 per taxpayer, through a combination of "asset sales, contract/lease cancellations and renegotiations, fraud and improper payment deletion, grant cancellations, interest savings, programmatic changes, regulatory savings, and workforce reductions."

...

All of these discrepancies suggest that DOGE has, in some cases, overstated the savings it achieved. A CBS News analysis published in August found that some cuts were overstated by as much as 97 percent.

DOGE secured minor victories, saved taxpayers a tiny chunk of change, and brought government waste, usually a dry topic, into the spotlight for several news cycles over the course of the year. But the fact remains that the Pentagon budget is still grossly high, with the Trump administration proposing a $1 trillion budget for the fiscal year 2026. Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill is estimated to increase deficits by $3.4 trillion over the next 10 years. The United States is $38 trillion in debt and counting. And DOGE's $214 billion in savings, whether that figure is even accurate or not, amounts to a drop of water in an ocean.

In a sense, DOGE was successful insofar as it was a marketing tool to placate fiscal conservatives. It made for good headlines, and it made it seem like the administration was draining the Swamp for real this time. But it is still business as usual in the morass of D.C., which means more deficit spending, an unaccountable military-industrial complex and a Pentagon that has failed seven straight audits.

I don't think this country will be serious about cutting spending until forced to at the end of a bankruptcy/default gun.

12 Well, maybe one day when Congress passes a done crying about how mean we are to make them do their job, they will write spending bills that reflect the fairly massive savings and waste that’s been discovered.

Or more likely, they’ll redeploy that spending somewhere else, so we never see it.

Trump et. al. has made a tremendous amount of progress in the short 10 months he has been at the white house. usaid is gone, pbs is de-funded and the perpetual motion machine of ever increasing obamacare payouts to insurance companies has hit a serious snag.

Hell, public Education is $975 billion a year... and I'd wager way more than 10% are illegals... thats almost an extra $100 billion right there.

But they were never allowed to do deep dives into that data... as they were constantly held up by Judges.

Not even then. The government will never -- not ever -- cut spending in an significant way because nobody wants spending cut. Sure, in theory you'll find wide support for cutting budgets. But not our budgets. Someone else's budgets. Never ours.

Something like USAID is the exception. That's not a "budget" so much as a program that was so insanely partisan and corrupt that Trump was able to nuke it.

49 One thing I'd like to see "our" side of the media begin doing is to provide some sort of *scale* when it comes to government outlays.

For example, somebody somewhere knows the amount the "average taxpayer" sends the Feds every year. So to demonstrate the true costs of a program, equate that to how many taxpayers it takes to fund the program. Pointing out that every SNAP recipient receives the entire tax paid in by 1.5 Federal Taxpayers (as a made up number to illustrate the point) might make the loosey-goosey nature of just throwing taxpayer money at problems.

54 Shrinking the Federal government will not be accomplished by an Act of Congress, but rather by a sort of devolution in which people get disgusted enough that they just cheat on their taxes near universally (like people do in other corrupt nations) and States and municipalities establish "Sanctuary States" and "Sanctuary Cities" in which Federal tax liens and judgments etc. aren't enforced. I think one enormous choke point that could bring the whole thing down is retiring the Federal Tax Return as the standard for creditworthiness in lending. How many people put up with this nonsense just because they want to be able to buy a house someday?

80 I have mixed feelings about DOGE

When musk would talk about all these people over 120 years old that had active Social Security numbers, did that mean checks were actually going to these fake people? He never answered that.

Also, I think Trump told Musk to stand down because I don’t think he liked all of these layoffs happening on his watch

Overall, though, I greatly appreciated the effort. I just think there’s a unitparty that doesn’t really want to address all the fraud.

89 Leftwing Propaganda Media Declares DOGE Dead

I don't want to hear a single damned fool blame Boomers for this. In 2000, the Debt Outstanding was $5.7T its now $39T.

Both the mean and median age in the House is just under 58 years old, which means the majority of those voting for two-three trillion dollars more debt each year are NOT Boomers.

Millennials are pretty much split R vs D in the House.

The fact that Congress totally rejected any and all of DOGE advisements and barely managed token cuts in programs the GOP has promised to cut for decades (but never did), confirms to the world that DOGE's real contribution was giving the Secretaries direction to make cuts, providing rage bait for many, and giving opportunity for District Tyrants to act as a federal HR department.

Maybe I'm the only one who ever sees a pie filling can and says "where's the fruit" as I proceed to add a full can's worth of fresh fruit (with a little extra cornstarch) to any prepared fruit can. And obviously, when I do the whole scratch thing (which is a holiday/weekend vs weeknight thing), ummm, I rarely follow online recipes b/c they like to recreate "more crust, less filling" and less fruit that I like...

A lot of those are 1040s so if they're traditional employees taxes will have been withheld. There were loads of refunds - 117.6M to individuals - and 15-20% of which included child tax credits and EITCs. A lot of the non-credit-related refunds were likely from overwithholding. As to how many filers ended up as net taxpayers is a whole other ball game. Trust me I'm not carrying their water, but the number is probably roughly accurate on the surface.

Isn't that a huge improvement? Way back in Bush days Obama blamed Bush for increasing the deficit from $5T to $9T, then Obama proceeded to double that rate of increase. So now we are at $38T, and increase of $29T since 2009. Call it $2T/year ... so $3.4T over ten years sounds awesome. (or am I missing something? heh)

121 2 versions of green bean casserole, starting with the healthier version:

• 6 cups green beans (trimmed)

• 1 Tbsp butter
• 1 Tbsp olive oil
• 1 cup low fat plain Greek yogurt
• 2 Tbsp flour
• 1/4 tsp black pepper
• 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese (shredded)
• 1/2 cup toasted almonds (sliced)
Preheat oven to 350.
Sauté the onions and garlic in the oil and butter over med high heat until golden. Reduce heat and add the mushrooms, cook 5 mins, add green beans and cook until they just begin to soften.

In separate bowl, combine yogurt, flour, pepper and salt to taste. After allowing the green bean mixture to cool slightly, mix in. Put in a 2 qt casserole, top with cheese and almonds, bake 35 mins.

It's my understanding that it's mostly centered in CA and TX.

And most of that is pre-OBBB ICE, the bill of which secured funding through 2028 at elevated levels for the agency.

For anyone who needs to make a sweet potato casserole, but doesn't want sickly sweet, you can make a nice casserole with mashed sweet potatoes with an oat crumble (with peanuts or pecans or neither - I do peanuts again to add some more crunch to Thanksgiving over and above my green beans). Recipes abound on line.

Maple syrup goes into the potatoes, and you control the amount of sugar in the crumble. And salt and warming spices are your friend.

And it's 100% make ahead...just bake the day. I'd post a technique, but this one definitely has a lot of swaps if you do dairy or don't...

So keep the cran tart and the sweet potatoes sweet, but not cloying...

Posted by: Maroon at November 25, 2025 04:11 PM (0Hj+P)

224 And if you really want to do the original recipe, here is condensed cream of mushroom soup recipe to use.

1 1/3 cup chicken or vegetable broth
2/3 cup whole milk
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup fresh mushrooms finely-chopped
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Add chicken or vegetable stock to a medium saucepan and bring to boil over medium high heat.

In a separate bowl, mix together the milk and flour until flour is dissolved.

Slowly pour the milk mixture into the boiling broth and whisk to completely combine.

Stir in the mushrooms and spices.
Reduce the heat to medium and let it come to low boil, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes or until thickened.

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days if not using right away

Be sure to dilute it with chicken or vegetable broth if you'd like to eat it as a soup as this is condensed.

To serve, let sit at room temp 10 minutes, slice and plate with a zig zag drizzle of caramel and a Cheesecake Factory dollop of real whipped cream. Serve with decaf coffee. People fawned over this dessert when I could make and eat it...and it takes 5 minutes.

Now, I have to dairy free it, so it's still very good, but not the ambrosia it used to be...

Most of them have staff to do those social media posts so the pols have plausible deniability plus someone to fire if a post goes over badly.

We might have a better political class if people were drafted to serve like jury duty as legislators for a set term instead of increasingly fraudulent and rigged elections.

272 I wonder how much it would cost to provide Medicare for all if we kept the current premium structure.

Because by handing over ALL medical financing to the Left is a great way to end up in ovens?

Yes, he was a very versatile actor and nice looking too- but maybe your wife doesn't mention that . 😉

When we watch Pride and Prejudice, she always notes that Colin Firth is very handsome.

A few minutes later she usually suffers a few pangs of guilt and says, "But I think Colin Firth looks like you."

In our marriage, that is know as going for the "save".

sure, but we would win the 2026 mid-terms in a landslide

275 Ending qualified immunity for government employees, save law enforcement (life and death decisions merit some level of immunity) would be...interesting.

Bureaucrat #3,452 signed up an illegal for SNAP? Sue Bureaucrat #3,452 personally to recover the costs.
------

Every single state employee and state official involved in issuing CDLs to illegals that caused death or injury should be facing civil and criminal charges.

276 f you drown them in Campbell's cream of mushroom soup, you almost won't even notice they're there!

Interestingly, if you drown them in dog feces, you probably won't notice them then as well. Come to think of it, that's just the same thing. Never mind.

277 could be a coincidence, but i've noticed that my neighborhood here in commiefornia seems to be much emptier than it was before the deportations started.

Posted by: anachronda

Deportation effects are going to be lumpy. California has embedded a whole long term class of illegals sucking at the public teat, voting, and doing other shit not permitted in other states.

So, one will see more immediate effects in places where illegals are not a very large percentage of the population and ICE can work without local and state government interference. And without interference from the local population of legals that simp for illegals by doing shit like ramming ICE vehicles etc.

279 My kids actually liked mushy green beans.

For Idiot level cooking when you are out of fresh veggies:

Dump two cans of green beans in a sauce pan.

Heat up beans, and then melt in a 1/3rd of a stick of butter.

Crunch up a big handful of Ritz crackers.

Stir the concoction and then serve to rugrats. They will then eat all of their veggies.

280 Not sure I can do TJM's top 10 of all time, but top 10 sports movies would be possible
------

I'd enjoy a topic like that. The problem with most sports movies is that the director too often didn't play sports at a serious or even semi-serious level, and thus doesn't know how to stage the sports scenes. So you end up with two grown up men in awesome shape throwing a baseball back and forth to each other....5 feet apart...naturally (?!)...because afterall we have to film the DIALOGUE! Its ludicrous, because 10 year old boys don't play catch 5 feet apart for more than a single throw--they're at 50 feet in a matter of 60 seconds!
