The "Elaan of Troyius" episode is on Trek on Heroes & Icons. A good space battle story as well as the fireworks between Kirk and Elaan (France Nuyen).
Trivia I haven't bothered to check: The interracial kiss between William Shatner and Nichelle Nichols might have been the first on network TV *between black and white.* But there had been an earlier one, with an Asian woman and a white man -- and I believe it was France Nuyen and Robert Culp (whom she later married) a year or two before the Trek scene, on I Spy. Okay, I looked it up. There was a kiss between an Asian woman and white man in a scene from the then-current Broadway play The World of Suzie Wong, shown on Ed Sullivan way back in 1958. The actors? William Shatner and France Nuyen. That appears, according to Wiki, to be the earliest example on TV.
The I Spy episode was indeed with France Nuyen and Robert Culp, in 1966. So this is another example of "What everybody knows" ain't necessarily so. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at November 27, 2025 08:24 PM (wzUl9) 117

Drove through a rainbow once. 101 freeway outside of Camarillo. Coming out of a passing cloudburst, I see a rainbow arc about ten yards ahead. The next moment, the water kicking up from the cars ahead and beside me turned gold. Took me another second to realize what I was seeing and a few seconds later, I was out of it. The gold is there.
