Saturday Night Jokes and Other Funnies

AoSHQ Job Applicant A guy goes into a company for a job interview. The interviewer asks him, "What would you consider to be your biggest weakness?" The guy thinks for a minute and says, "I'm honest with everyone. I don't know how to be anything other than completely honest, no matter what someone asks me." The interviewer says, "I don't really see how honesty could be considered a weakness. In fact, I think it's a great strength!" The guy looks the interviewer right in the eye and says, "I don't really care what you think."

This one is from our good friend, Teresa in Fort Worth...

Two couples were playing poker one evening. John accidentally dropped some cards on the floor. When he bent down under the table to pick them up, he noticed Bill's wife Sue wasn't wearing any underwear under her dress:

Shocked by this, John upon trying to sit back up again, hit his head on the table and emerged red-faced. Later, John went to the kitchen to get some refreshments. Bill's wife followed and asked. "Did you see anything that you liked under there?"

Surprised by her boldness, John courageously admitted that, well indeed he did.

She said. "Well, you can have it but it will cost you $500."

After taking a minute or two to assess the financial and moral costs of this offer, John confirms that he is interested.

She tells him that since her husband Bill works Friday afternoons and John doesn't, John should be at her house around 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.

When Friday rolled around, John showed up at Bill's house at 2 p.m. sharp and after paying Sue the agreed sum of $500 they went to the bedroom and closed their transaction, as agreed. John quickly dressed and left.

As usual, Bill came home from work at 6 p.m. and upon entering the house, asked his wife abruptly. "Did John come by the house this afternoon?"

With a lump in her throat Sue answered. "Why yes, he did stop by for a few minutes this afternoon."

Her heart nearly skipped a beat when her husband curtly asked. "And did he give you $500?"

In terror she assumed that somehow he had found out and after mustering her best poker face, replied. "Well, yes, in fact he did give me $500."

Bill, with a satisfied look on his face, surprised his wife by saying. "Good, I was hoping he did. John came by the office this morning and borrowed $500 from me. He promised me he'd stop by our house this afternoon on his way home and pay me back."

Now THAT, my friends, is a poker player!

How about a Beef Fizz?

club-beef-fizz-card.jpg

"The Beef Fizz Is a Real Drink and We’re All Worse Because of It"

Food trends come and go. (Remember butter boards? Neither do we.) But few things have captured the public’s interest quite as fervently as bone broth. Heralded by influencers and celebrities alike for its nutritional value and added health benefits, bone broth is one fad that’s had surprising staying power. But before the girlies were downing it in droves for a bit of extra collagen in the morning, there was a different broth-based sipper on the scene: Beef Fizz.

The drink, which first appeared in print sometime in the 1950s or ‘60s, calls for the mouthwatering combination of condensed beef broth, ginger ale, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice. But the fun doesn’t stop there: Rather than being served hot (or at least at room temperature), the Beef Fizz is intended to be enjoyed over ice, ideally in a highball glass.

There HAS to be someone among you who has tried this. Come on - fess up!

[Disco says: I saw Beef Fizz open for Chickenfoot at the KCF Yum! Center in 2021]

Not that other locations are good, but this really doesn't seem good: Why you don't want to get tuberculosis on your penis

It's unclear if the man’s infection started in his lungs or on his penis. It's possible he could have inhaled it first; the bacteria were clearly in his lungs. But he could have also picked up the bacteria on his hands while working and then spread it further while, for example, using the bathroom.

While it will remain a mystery how the man developed such a rare infection, there's a happy ending for this case and others: 'Encouragingly, all published cases of penile TB responded well to anti-TB therapy with full recovery,' the doctors conclude.

Whew.

For the ettes: Masturbation improves menopause symptoms for nearly 1 in 5 women, study shows

Additionally, 57% of perimenopausal women reported they would masturbate more for symptom management if their doctor recommended it, compared with 40% of postmenopausal women.

Hmmm.... Didn't realize a doctor's prescription was required...

126 Speaking of crazy . . .

Back when I was a yute, one of the members of our neighborhood gang was a girl who lived across the street from me. Her family moved away and my family moved away and we lost touch. A couple of decades go by and she becomes Mrs. Wrecks' boss and they became good friends. She had a daughter who was diagnosed schizophrenic. Things have been difficult.
Last night, she became upset and told her mom that 15 years ago, she gave a coat my daughter and, by God, she wants it back! We have no such recollection but they did give a coat to Mrs. Wrecks' mother. Mrs. Wrecks is under the weather today but they have called repeatedly. Finally, Mrs. Wrecks broke down and went over to her mother's to get and return the coat. Now everybody is all pissed off except for me who has fallen back on my famous apathy.
My only explanation is they're members of the Lateasf*ckindiangivers tribe.

179 Speaking of claymores, what is the military case for their use?
Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at November 22, 2025 10:37 PM (npFr7)

I was taught they are a great way to initiate an ambush. The big bang and all the sudden death confuses and demoralizes the enemy. It's called a "kill zone" for a reason.

I'm beginning to think that the big dog abandoned down the street from us is a Great Pyrenees (not a white Golden Retriever). Reputation of breed: good with family, kids and other dogs, wary of strangers (explains why he runs from us). Can't say if this one barks at night.

I guess we shouldn't feed him too much at one time, so he won't get bloat. He won't eat until we drive away, so we may have to work up on him slowly.

Why would anyone just leave behind a big, pretty dog like that?

This was surprisingly good. It was a cold, sweet drink flavored of toast. But a cold, sweet drink with toast on the side would have been much better.

Yes, you can have a tripwire set up and maintain the ability to command detonate.

the goal of the system is to have a ~110 yd killzone and reasonable expectation is you will hit to immobility ~10% of a force in its blast zone.

Note the very effective use of mines during the middle stages of the Ukraine War. Deep minefields made armored assaults on defensive positions almost suicidal. They were very rough on personnel too.

Mine use seems to have recently tapered off. I suspect the Ukrainians have run out of them and the Russians are on the offensive so they don't need them. Plus drones are effectively taking their place.

Just soft noise. Pretty sure it's a bad antenna cable. Antenna is on the rear quarter, with a long cable. Car radio antenna cable is usually a sort of coax with one single strand of fine wire loose in a plastic sleeve wrapped in braid and a jacket. Very common for corrosion to part the inner wire.

Some people are just awful. Great Pyrenees are nice dogs. They need a good fence, or they will roam to patrol their territory. Our neighbors have one. If he barks st night we don't notice. He does bark at the mail carrier's jeep, and any large vehicle going down the road.

Mom has had a Great Pyranese for nearly the last twentyfive years. Wonderful dogs, extremely protective of "their" pack. Current ghost dog is named 'Morris', and he is a real sweetheart. Protects the three cats like they were his babies, doesn't let Mom walk outside by herself unless he's glued to her knee. Recognizes my car even though he only sees it twice a year. He does bark at gnat farts, though. In his defense...there have been no breakins.

EoT also ended completely differently from the Japanese novel it was based on. Fewer of the lead characters survived in the novel. Since there were only two lead characters, that changes the story a bit.

So even if there is a follow-on novel, the follow-on movie will have to be a completely new story.

Regardless, as Asmongold says, the entire Trans ediface is based on a lie and lying about who you actually are and getting upset when someone realizes you are lying.

349 My favorite(?) part was the very clear demarcation between psyop perps and marks. The indoctrinators were very careful to say that Russia "hacked the election" in precisely those words, so that they could plausibly deny to have claimed any computer hacking.

It was just a life hack, see? Russia life-hacked the election by purchasing a few hundred thousand dollars of Facebook ads, similar to life-hacking cheese by putting one of those folding sandwich bags on the open end to keep it fresh.

And then anyone who claimed that Russia hacked election computers was plainly on a separate level beneath those operatives, a brainwashed sucker chump that fell for their craft hook, line, and sinker. Really clarified things, since it showed that the Big Media talking heads were in on the op, and many elected officials (especially in the House) were not.

377 Claymore mines are used for perimeter defense. They have a very long cord, identical in a appearance to standard lamp or zip cord. The trigger is called a “clacker” iirc. Sadly I don’t recall the number of stainless steel balls contained therein. Claymore used to be standard basic training module. Dummy one’s anyway.

They have a curved shape, so one can point it the right way, even in the dark. It was something to be checked periodically when deployed. In Viet Nam it was found the enemy would turn them the other way. When I went to university on the GI Bill I was in a class where another professor approached me. He knew somehow I was a veteran, and clearly viewed me as a sort of different species.

He tentatively asked me if it was true Claymore mines are embossed with a “Front Towards Enemy” instruction on them. I explained, yes it’s true. And might be deployed by someone who hasn’t slept for 3 days and every bit helps in those situations, and there is also the tactile feature that helps when installing in the dark. He realized it was actually kind of a stupid question and he slunk off embarrassed.

Eh, I think it's mostly a meme, but 10 mil sockets are pretty small, and also very commonly used, on metric vehicles, anyway. So you have something small, and inherently lose-able, that's also commonly used, so it stands to reason they get lost more often than say a 5/8" socket.

We really do miss it. It was great for late night emergencies. We once had our toilet tank chain snap. Dad and Sis went out at 2am to Walmart and bought a new one.

2016 election, when Trump was called officially the winner, Dad and Sis came home with doughnuts for celebrating and that was past midnight.

Can't do any of that now.

That's a good idea. You know what else would be a good idea? Have a vending machine in the store that sells drill bits, open stock. Maybe have them categorized by size and price. Say 1/16" could be two for 35 cents, and half-inch could be 95 cents each. Punch in you wants on a screen, machine calculates the total cost, adds any applicable tax, and you deposit cash or swipe a card, and it spits out a bundle of drills. It would be a great way to keep your drill index fully stocked.

Not all of it is junk, there are some good things, but you really..really need to know what you're looking at. But yeah, there is a good amount of worthless yang poon shit. The mechanic hand tools are actually pretty good IF you don't go lower than the pittsburg "pro" level of tools, or else you end up with made in india abominations. I bought a swivel head 1/4 drive ratchet that was a copy of a snap-on version I bought 30 years ago, because for certain things on harleys they are a godsend, and I wasn't bringing my snap-on one to the shop. Don't over-think it. I expect subs are called "boats" because the early ones were quite small, and naturally got called boats. By the time they got to be large, the term "boat" had become definitional.

Bidenflation & minimum wage boosts, too.

You can afford to have a skeleton crew run your grocery store at 3AM when you're paying college kids $5 an hour. Harder to make ends meet at $20/hour. And similar price increases to (literally) keep the lights on, etc.

Also, the domino effect. Late hours at the stores and restaurants were largely for people working late hours at other stores and restaurants. No need for a 3AM McDonald's when the groceries and Wal-Marts and Targets are all rolling up the sidewalks at 9-12PM, and your only customer base are overloaded college kids, first responders, and insomniacs.

443 Bers-- it's a whole helluva lot easier to keep track of fallen tools when you're working indoors, with concrete floor.

Shade-tree, amateur types like me often must work in the yard or on the roadside. Stuff falls, rolls, sometimes cannot be found within reasonable time. (Rain, nightfall, whatever)

Sure, put down a tarp or cardboard... there are a dozen ways to mitigate the losses but they still happen.

Too short, too raw feeling. Same with the ratchets. But, the shit got the job done. Today you couldn't give me craftsman, its all chinese. Snap on shit is really frigging good, no 2 ways about it, but years back there wasn't any real competition. Their ratchets just felt better than anything else, same with the wrenches. Well, I still have the blasted thing, but it barely works. No matter how much I try to charge it, next to no power. And the rpm is super-low. Plus of course most of the extras (bits, etc) are long gone missing.

So now I don't trust Ryobi, although it's not their fault. Have heard their stuff is good if you buy better than their most discounted lines.

Hmm. Okay, so I got the set. Really impressed with the blower-- plenty of whoosh power, and battery lasts & lasts on it.

Trimmer is okay. It's the damned reel of line that keeps jamming/not feeding. Ready to unwind & rewind the damned thing, spray the line with silicone or something? Otherwise, it chomps thru pasture grass like a champ. It'll do, once I get the feed issue tackled.

487 Don't recall all the details of course, but IJN did have subs modified to carry a partly disassembled seaplane in a blister/shelter on the deck. Plane would be reassembled and fly it's mission - don't recall if plane would be recovered and re-stored.

The one operation I recall that hit the US was a sub-launched plane that dropped incendiaries in what is now a state park in southwest Oregon. Did start a fire. There's a small monument to the event at the spot, and when said monument was dedicated in the 90s, the Japanese pilot - still alive - attended the ceremony! Pretty cool.

The more interesting concept, which resulted in Japan's largest subs, which I believe were still as yet not deployed by the surrender, was to carry two seaplanes on one boat - and attack the Panama Canal. With torpedoes - against lock gates. Pretty good idea.

Re the "science conditions" for that RENU-3 launch. RENU stands for "Rocket Experiment for Neutral Upwelling".

This is basically non-ionized gases get pumped up higher due to all the EM activity of the aurora/solar wind, and the interaction with earth's magnetic field. There is a "cusp" they call it, where particles get thrown out into space, and this flight is supposed to study that.

So, I'm guessing the "science conditions" are they're waiting for that to be good enough for the payload to get good data.

The Artemis II rocket has been fully stacked and integrated in the VAB down at KSC I was just reading. That got me interested in the VAB, the Vehicle Assembly Building, formally known as the Vertical Assembly Building in the Apollo days.

That is one huge building, and clouds can even form inside it.

I was looking at some pictures. They have these huge movable floor platforms that snug up to the rocket, and have to be custom built to conform exactly to the shape of the rocket. That gives the various access levels to different parts of the rockets. It's an amazing thing to behold.

495 Trimmer is okay. It's the damned reel of line that keeps jamming/not feeding. Ready to unwind & rewind the damned thing, spray the line with silicone or something? Otherwise, it chomps thru pasture grass like a champ. It'll do, once I get the feed issue tackled.

ok, I'm back for this. I've got a trimmer too. Small one. I wind the line on the spool. Originally it fed a little line every time I pulled the trigger and thank goodness it broke or I'm winding the spool wrong.
Whatever, I like it like that. There's a tab on the side of the spool, when depressed, allows me to pull out line to the desired length.
It eats a lot less line that way.

It's used to trim the curb and little things. It does OK and is much handier than the 2 cycle. I'm pleased.

497 My "do everything" brother swore by Makita. His favorite saying, "I used the shit out of it."

Posted by: JM in Illinois at November 23, 2025 01:32 AM (ywVyn)

I have some corded Makita stuff I got in the 80's and its still rocking. I have 2 of the 3/8 drills that I was using for kitchen installs. I kept the drill in one, and a screw bit in the other, and used the shit out of both of them. One got a little more use than the other, so that one is out in the garage, and the other is on the tool shelf with the other contractor tools. They still work like the day I got them. I have corded milwaukee drills from back then but I only pull them out if I need serious power, but those makita tools were hard to beat. I still have the 10" miter saw with heavy ass cast iron base, but its not large enough for big crown moldings an floor moldings being used these days, so its retired. Not to mention is heavy as all hell.

Thanks for your note, Braenyard!

'Continuous feed' is a line-gobbler, but I don't care. I've been using-- TRYING to, anyway-- the pre-wound spool what came with the unit. Will strip & rewind it, hope that solves the problem.

501 I have a corded makita circular saw too now that I think about it. The makita stuff was funny, they always sounded like they had loose marbles rolling around inside of them. A friend commented on that one day and I told him the day you stop hearing the marbles means the tool is truly dead. lol

My brother used corded Makita also, pre-2010, when batteries weren't so available or good.

503 The big problem wasn’t sub launched plane bombs, it was Balloon bombs. They launched a shitload of them,, from Japan and they did kill a few people on the west coast and in Oregon iirc and start forest fires. It wasn’t well known at the time because news reports were censored, to deny them intelligence on their effectiveness.

It’s an interesting story from a geology perspective. They analyzed sand from the ballast recovered, and with some serious research and detective work, and some Seal teams (you want some sand from beaches? For what??) were able to deduce what area, and bombed the shit out of a likely nearby factory. No more balloon bombs.

504 Late BF used the hell out of his 9.6v (?) cordless Makita drills. Every Christmas, would buy him a new battery or two.

yeah the cordless stuff came a looong way since the early days. We experimented with a few things when battery tools were first hitting the scene in the 80's. Makita had the drill and flashlight combo with the 2 batteries. A bit under powered, and the batteries took hours to charge, then you only got about 45 minutes of intermittent use out of them. There were a few other things equally worthless. There was one gem though, it was made by skill. It was a small super high torque screw gun and powered 3 inch screws like nobody's business, but again, forever to charge, and low use time. I still have it, but I don't even know where the charger is. It didn't have a removable battery. Battery stuff came a long way, I started converting over about 5 years ago.

313 I just got some medicine that says "take with food" on the label.
I prepared a small bowl of applesauce and, to make sure I wouldn't drop them, I put the pills on top of the applesauce.
I ate half the applesauce, then spooned up the pills and swallowed them.
Then it hit me. Oh my God, I've turned into a Golden Retriever.

507 The VAB has four (4) bays, there were plans for WAY more Saturn V launches than they did, around 100,

I think they built 12 or 13 in total. You can see on the track to 39A they were going to branch off and build another pad for at least 3. 39B only used maybe once. It is a crime that they threw away all the engineering and expertise and institutional knowledge.

I figure at the very least there should easily be routine tourist flights to lunar orbit 20 years ago. Maybe not too cheap, but doable. Honeymoon type trips. Now they can’t even get into earth orbit, much less recreate ‘68. Fucking sad and pathetic . All those guys really put their ass on the line, too

Apollo 10 launched from 39B. It also launched the Saturn 1B missions for Skylab and Apollo-Soyuz. It then launched a bunch of Space Shuttle missions.

Currently, it is the pad that will be used for Artemis. SpaceX now has leased 39A for its operations.

EVERYBODY is a “first responder”. (When an emergency happens, the poor dumb bastards are first on the scene. The cops/paramedics/firefighters come later.

Another phrase that needs to go.
