The Morning Report — 11/18/25

PDTGin.jpg

Good morning kids. Continuing from where we left off yesterday, our dear friend the VP and Director of Communications at the invaluable Heartland Institute, Jim Lakely, has dropped yet another poll that does not bode well for the restoration of our republic let alone for its survival.

42% of likely voters aged 18-39 who identify as conservative want Democratic Socialist to win presidency, Parents and online videos or podcasts are most likely to influence young Americans to support democratic socialism, 52% said their teachers or professors favored democratic socialism when they attended school

I don't even want to imagine what the respondents who identified as liberal wanted. Way back in the 1960s, the lower end of the aforementioned cohort had the battle cry Never Trust Anyone Over 30 Bitterly ironic and catastrophic is how many of them reached that age to become academics, the very ones they railed against trusting.

Had they only met the same fate as their contemporaries Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, or blew themselves up in Greenwich Village townhouses making pipe bombs as their expression of universal love and brotherhood. How much better off we'd all be. Alas, the Communist myth of utopianism and self-hatred is a hell of a drug. So we're primed to get Mamdani'd right in the neck. Or are we?

Decades in the making, Western civilization faces a profound crisis in its political leadership. The problem the West confronts is clear: for too long, Western leaders in Canada, Europe, and the U.S. willfully abandoned the core principles of Western Civilization. They adopted policies that were both foreign and antithetical to the historical civilization of their countries and the societies that their fathers and mothers knew, which had, in fact, nurtured the very leaders who then labored to destroy it. These policies, including multiculturalism and progressivism, were anchored in Marxist-Leninist thought. Their impact has been catastrophic. Their consequence is that the future of Western Civilization is now in the balance. This was done deliberately.

The policies had the effect of weakening the Judeo-Christian and Enlightenment core principles of the West. These included intentional and sustained efforts to evict these principles from the public space while opening their borders to mass immigration from non-Western peoples. This has been done so massively and so quickly that most Western European states, including Ireland, France, Germany, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and Sweden, are at great risk of destabilization. Importantly, those states that rejected mass immigration, Hungary and Poland, are not. .. The West is thus in the curious position of permitting its statues to be toppled and its civilization destroyed by those who have the freedom to hold the West in contempt, a freedom that was made possible by that civilization. Of course, the West’s enemies do not care about that irony. The point is to destroy the West, and Western freedoms will be weaponized against Western peoples. In the end, it was Western Europe’s leaders who have intentionally and consistently made this situation possible.

The focus of this essay is on western Europe but is most certainly applicable to what we are experiencing right here in the good old US of A. And its these leaders who for the most part are or were the cream of the crop of Academia.

Some of them, not so much.

Monday on CNN’s “The Lead,” Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) said President Donald Trump had caused a “consistent spike in the violence when it comes to politics.”

Crockett said, “I believe that we all need to pay attention to Trump and how he acts. He is the cause of all the confusion and the destruction that we have seen in politics. As far as I’m concerned, because it used to be we could disagree, and that was that. I disagree with a lot of Republicans, but it does not necessarily turn violent. Ever since he’s been introduced into politics, we have seen a consistent spike in the violence when it comes to politics.”

And yet this urine-saturated lice-infested whorehouse mattress somehow became an elected member of our House of rRepresentatives.

Elsewhere, is shit about to get real "down Souse American way" as Carmen Miranda would croon? John Bolton, the inept, egotistical warmongering buffoon reacted to our biggest carrier, the USS Gerald Ford arriving off the coast of South America, with what to me is a Luca Brasi/Johnny Fontaine Godfather reference:

“Well, I think the drug smugglers can obviously see what’s happening. It’d be stunning, as they do, that they don’t shift their routes and find other ways to get drugs into the United States. Let’s face it, it’s our demand for the drugs that’s giving them the incentive to try this; they’ll find other ways. But it also shows the confusion in the White House’s objectives. If it’s simply about illegal narcotics, that’s one thing, but it seems to be about overthrowing Maduro. Why else bring the Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group from the European theater to the Caribbean? Trump has now put the gun on the table. The question is, is he going to use it or not?”

Either his signature or his brains will be on the paper!

Aside from being a communist thug, whose legitimacy as that nation's president is dubious at best, his close strategic ties to both Iran and the Chi-Coms have made his regime a national security threat to both America and our allies in the region. Neither of the aforementioned can be allowed to have any kind of a foothold or influence. Am I looking for a war, no. But flexing of our muscles if done very carefully and intelligently can yield the results we desire and that are necessary.

Maduro must indeed go as well as every other Communist regime in South America and the Caribbean, let alone the world. And south of our seemingly reappearing southern border, thank you President Trump, the Mexican people are sick of the narco terrorists and their corrupt government, and are taking to the streets...

Is President Trump's show of strength against Venezuelan and Colombian drug traffickers having an unexpected knock-on effect in cartel-plagued Mexico? It's hard not to think that when one sees the intensity of protests like these at the center of Mexico City:

In the long term if the pressure is kept up, no doubt it helps our situation at the border, despite most of the violence coming from American leftists attacking our own ICE agents and police.

It's a fine thing to defeat communism abroad, but we are going to have to crush the life out of it right here at home before they can crush us.

This is not the Democrat party of thirty or even twenty years ago. It is a party determined to transform this nation and destroy the foundations of Western Civilization. Because of federalism and its overwhelmingly successful 250-year history as a capitalist-based constitutional republic, they will never succeed in peacefully transforming the United States into a one-party socialist oligarchy. However, it’s very likely that they will succeed in violently fracturing the nation, fomenting civil conflict, and hastening the death of Western Civilization.

And lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know.

That is the way it always has been.

22 Seventy-four percent of young Americans, including 70% of self-identified conservatives, believe the “cost of housing in America has reached a crisis level.” More than half (56%) of self-identified conservatives would support a congressional proposal to expand government housing and a nationwide rent freeze.

Big Govt bring is 10 to 12 Million new people in less than 4 years and that creates a massive housing problem so the answer to that problem is a Big Govt Rent Controlled Housing.

The destruction of 500,000 (public) housing units in the 80s and 90s was a Progressive Plan to 1) move the poor into every suburban community, 2) open the city centers to be remade for the well-to-do, and 3) push (D) voters into (R) precincts.

With all do respect to the commenters here who hold this same opinion, this is the stupidest thing ever. Erase the filibuster so that uniparty GOP - who can't get shit passed out of the House, which doesn't have a filibuster - can ram conservative priorities through the process and get them enshrined into law...

Until the Democrats take power and remove all of them because the filibuster no longer exists. Yay! We get to have the laws in this country whipsawed around as the sheeple lurch from side to side.

I'm currently reading, and almost finished with, Grant by Ron Chernow. It's an enormous book, clocking in at over 900 pages, but it is a masterpiece of writing, imo.

I can't begin to tell you the parallels I've come across from how the Democrats were then, and how they are now. The southern D's after Reconstruction were off-the-charts with violence to achieve their goals. As much as I knew about it beforehand, it still astounded me. They are a violent, violent party. They have always been violent. They'll probably always be violent. The violence comes directly from them, then and now. This POS broad can shove it up her false eyelashes and weaves. 88 Trump is now suggesting the same big government solution to healthcare...with large direct payments to Americans (ala "student loans" with no loans part)...

I like the various medical cost sharing organizations model. The costs of acute medical care are spread around to all members (plus the administrative vig).

This puts skin in the game. They also cherry-pick their members by requiring relatively clean life-style (no profession cliff-divers, or chronically ill, obese, drug addicted or requiring counseling and psychotropics). A lot of the bills we had to help pay were baby delivery.

From what I understand, modern health care insurance is akin to auto insurance where "insurance" pays for wear items and your fuel. This is probably the fattest slice of the medical cost pie, with the secondary all of the various administrative grift and overhead.

Maybe, maybe not. I was reading about the Army Mcarthy hearings in the 1950s, the State Department files, Truman basically confiscated all the background checks and loyalty files of the entire workforce, and wouldn’t let anyone see them. The F.B.I. had the goods on a lot of scurvy characters, they were running ops and made sure Mao prevailed in China, and the loss of 100 million people behind the Iron Curtain, and tried the “limited war” in Korea, and screwed up Hungary, and Cuba, etc.

Guys like Henry “Scoop” Jackson, Symington, et al, the kind of Democrat that Republicans profess to love, had access to those files and knew what was what, but in open committee hearings would say exactly something opposite. The rot goes back a long, long ways and continues to this day.

92 "The crisis of legitimacy for the Western elite will be resolved either by crushing their publics by weaponizing the state against them or by heeding their people. The former is happening now. It must end immediately..."

It can't and won't end, immediately or ever, not unless it is forced to. We're beyond the point of an electoral event altering the implacable and self-destructive delusions of the elite. This is what so many of these well-meaning, naively hortatory essays miss. Perhaps because addressing the real issue, i.e., what being "forced to" means in real terms, would risk sounding "far right" (God forbid!).

Lincoln understood the crisis he faced when he said "measures, otherwise unconstitutional, might become lawful, by becoming indispensable to the preservation of the Constitution, through the preservation of the nation." This is the paradox of crisis the intellectual and political Right does not yet seem willing to confront.

106 They're already shooting at us. What's to be done?

We know what's to be done. It is increasingly clear that the ballot box is simply too compromised to be an effective block to the left.

And despite her hoodrat-level IQ, Crockett is actually right, for once. Trump is 'the cause of the confusion and destruction" in politics. His election and re-election have forced the left to abandon their soft-pedal, heart-tugging propaganda and resort to violence in a desperate attempt to regain the high ground. For all his faults (and I think he has a great many), Trump is the first man in a long time to punch back at the left in a way that is more than symbolic.

I am increasingly convinced that the only way forward for the right is either massive civil disobedience or unrestrained violence. I do not see normal, stable 'elections' (as if there are any) as a viable path. But YMMV.

109 The Case Shiller index, which avoids distortions due to the "median" home changing across time, shows home prices to have increased at an annual rate equal to inflation plus 0.5%. The problem is wages are too low, but that happens with massive off-shoring. One policy that would help with home affordability would be a return to COVID-era remote work. Trends are going the other way, partly to keep big cities from turning into ghost towns, but remote work seems to me a more moderate policy than the elimination of private property.

My regular checkups consist of the same blood tests which show the same things which allow the doctor to tell me, once again, that I should take drugs which I refuse to take and then bill me.

At least for me, "regular checkups" does not equate to what I remember as being a physical. I assume that's a result of regulations associated with Obamacare and desire to spread things out into as many office visits as possible to pad billing on the part of the doctor's organization.

That certainly will crush the family farm, ranch or business. The patriarch dies and the state seizes the assets and destroys whatever income the family had... or "sells" it to a Party Member or affiliated organization.

That may be why most wealthy families have adopted living trusts - to get around nonsense such as this.

The Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) rule is a provision of the Fair Housing Act of 1968 that requires federal funding recipients to take proactive steps to eliminate housing discrimination and promote fair housing opportunities.

You will have Section 8 and your will pay for it 3X:
1. FHA taxes.
2. Developer fees in your middle class housing project to support multi-family housing.
3. Income support (vouchers).

PS Did you know that there is a Greater Than 750 Credit Fee on you new home loan? Yes Fees are tacked onto good credit borrowers by banks to cover the cost of bad credit borrowers they are forced to lend to.

233 Wages have been stagnant since 1974,

No shit. At the end of World War Two, the entire planet of industrialized nations was smoldering rubble with the sole exception of the geographically isolated United States.

We made everything because the world needed everything Right Now in order to rebuild.

The labor unions exploited the hell out of this arrangement and wanted executive wages for menial work that was often performed while intoxicated or hung over.

When Japan and Germany returned on-line the end was near. Then Jimmy Carter gave China MFN status bringing on China and pretty much guaranteeing America's industrial dominance would end.

Then the internet and H1 delivered the rest of Asia and India into the economic picture, driving a stake into the heart of any notion of wage growth.

It is unsurprising that people do not just willy-nilly divest themselves of their residences just because they turn 65. Many people like having a place to live. Many people 65 and older still work for a living.

How exactly are people in the general public voting against policies to increase the supply of housing? Do they realize that is what they are doing? What measures are on these ballots? When are these votes being held?

Posted by: Anna Puma at November 18, 2025 08:05 AM (xouAs)

That's a fair assessment.

But, Avatar also has other problems;

1) Regardless of the pretty pictures on screen, both movies feel like long lectures on the Eeeevils of Humankind and a Squishy Treatise on the Cute and cuddly Nature of Nature until it must rise up to enforce Protard values.

2)The only admirable human characters are, for lack of a better word, "Species Traitors".
This is the leftist view of the VietCong applied to a movie- Why don't you hate the Big Violent Aggressive American Soldiers and love the cute little forest people who just want to live in communist all-natural Heaven.

3) So, in essence this is a movie made for human hating furries. A small but growing gaggle of lunatics.

It's a movie that alienates its audience as it "entertains" them.

Yup.

The entire election system is borked. Conservatives work overtime to beat the cheat and think the war's over after winning an election. Then we get our asses handed to us and the whole process starts anew.

Except, the left in inching closer to "there will never be a next election" for the right to win. And they're more than willing to kill for it.

They're also, frequently, not in starter homes. Now, admittedly, them not selling could, theoretically, prevent someone in a starter home from moving up but where would the olds move to? A smaller home? That doesn't help supply for the yoots either.

Building restrictions, that's a potential issue. Building codes is another.

A consideration for those who are empty nesters where the kids aren't nearby or return for holidays - since you don't need to move for work or to be closer to family, where you land is where your church, your neighbors, your social and shopping habits are going to remain.

437 >>It's ridiculous to speculate what an American writer who died in 1985 ( E.B White) would feel about open borders and illegal immigration today

I find the entire situation very illuminating. A large majority of Democrats obviously believe illegal immigration is not illegal. They are going to the mattresses to keep tens of millions of people who are here illegally in the country.

And then they turn around and whine that housing, food and everything else is too expensive. It's certainly not the only cause but in any situation where you increase demand for a finite good or service the price will go up. Democrats don't understand this because most of them are dumber than dogshit.

Before we toss old timers in the street and blame them for yet another problem bedeviling the yutes how about we get the 10s of millions of illegals out of the country and see how that works for starters.

537 >>Good stuff. Was over on "The Vinyid" earlier this year with my lady, visiting another couple -- a high school friend of hers. We went through some area that I believe was in the movie (the 3 of them started talking about it). I had to admit some shame in never having seen it. And yet, despite saying at the time that I'd watch it, I still haven't.

I think it's one of those movies like Star Wars that was more impactful at the time because it was so different. It still holds up for me cause it's a good story and the acting is pretty good but the first time I saw it was special.

I remember the first couple of years after it came out a lot of people around here were a bit timid on going in the ocean. "Wait, you mean there are sharks in the ocean?".

Posted by: Doof
=====
Bitcoin is simply a computer based conversion of energy and computers via software into crypto currency via 'mining'. Its scarcity is based on the production of the specific 'block' becoming harder and harder to resolve as miners vie with each other to solve the crypto puzzles to get the cookie (a bitcoin).

The easy solutions are long gone so it requires more and more computing power (and energy) to solve these puzzles--thus creating artificial scarcity based on costs of inputs.

Sort of like a declining gold mine may have gold but it gets more and more expensive to ferret out the metal and separate from the dross.

591 Trump ended Biden's hyperflation, but that destruction of the value of the dollar we incurred under Biden is permanent.
Posted by: 18-1

I think it was in part a soft default of US currency like when Nixon went off the gold standard setting off similar inflation waves. In Nixon's case it was the inability of Bretton Woods to accommodate the US becoming a debtor nation too. In Biden's case, it was the increasingly burden of the existing federal debt and its servicing.

Biden's term resulted in a 25-30 percent permanent devaluation of that debt into cheaper dollars. A hard default would mean basically spending in US budget would have to drop to what it brought in as taxes. That would be about a 30-35 percent decline putting the US into an immediate depression for a time.

Sovereign defaults generally require austerity aka poverty for about 10-12 years or so before a slow recovery. Then you have nations like Argentina that went in one century from one of the richest countries in the world to one of the poor ones via repeated defaults based on government overspending.

If the the initial sorting results in financial survival of only a few general AIs, it will highlight that each is of course, unique. Unique in results. Based on the programming and access/non-access to information and data sources. Which should be believed as the 'right' result? A user's bias will determine which result he believes is right. And so it goes.
