8 217 Candace is a cutie, so I'd like to give her a pass. I liked Tucker for about 20 years, so idlike togivehim a pass.

I liken them to the Michael Douglas movie Falling Down... when I watch that I identify with him at first. When he stands up to the gang members or and the manager at the WhammyBurger place I am right therewith him. It is visceral. But at some point in the movie, you start to realize that he has gone around the bend. This guy has lost it. I always find myself wondering how I identified with guy who is (i see now) obviously nuts. It is fascinating, and I suspect the answer is different for everyone
Posted by: 496

From the previous thread:

I recommend watching The Critical Drinkers video about 'Falling Down'. There are a couple of them he made about it. They are very interesting watches. I disagree on 'nuts'. He was broken by a system he trusted.

Posted by: pookysgirl, officially with a few screws loose at November 14, 2025 10:17 PM (Wt5PA)

I like good Robertson screwdrivers, when paired with quality Robertson screws. A proper Robertson bit is not simply square; it has a taper to it, such that you can wedge a screw firmly onto it, and start the screw one-handed in any position. Torx aspires to that, but does not quite make it.

BTW, a good flat blade screwdriver is not really flat. Seen end-on, the tip should look like this: ()

Only not so extreme. Reason being, a truly flat blade grips the slot only at its corners, while a slightly convex blade grips tangentially on the curve. You get a lot more gripping force, and do less damage to the screw slot.

70 Times have changed in Canada. First of all, there's a very high chance anyone stealing a bus in Canada is NOT Canadian. Magic 8 Ball says that the thief's name being Singh is "Highly Likely."

Secondly, based on actual newspaper accounts, there is always the chance of a decapitation occurring on Canadian buses by some strung out druggy with an all-purpose knife. People get distracted by the drunk Indigenous passenger waltzing up and down the aisle with no clothes below the waste and don't see the knife wielding maniac coming from the other direction.

I had occasion to hurriedly make use of a bedroom window as an exit once. It was about 8 ft off of the ground. Not enough to hurt but it did surprise the hell out of me.

The old Italian lady next door tending her tomato plants started waving her arms and hollering at me in broken English - all I could get out of it was "Coglione!!" and "Puttana!!".

I wonder what she was trying to tell me?

There is a logic to that. It's just a mountain range, the Caucusus, that 'seperates' Europe from Asia.

If that were truly the case with all the tall mountain ranges around, there should be a lot more 'continents'.

I guess because the land mass of Eurasia is so huge, with such desparate peoples, cultures and histories, they needed to make 2 and draw a division somewhere? Like they did with the The Treaty of Tordesillas (looked it up), splitting The Americas between Portugal and Spain?

Put some wicked trans in it, converter, redid something with the differentials, axles, drive shafts, U-joints, coolant bypass, new king shit trans cooler, fancy differential covers, water pump, and on and on and on. Its in the upper 200K miles, so he figured it was way cheaper than buying some new POS for 80K. Next up is the fuel injectors, they work fine, but costly as all hell to replace.

256 I just watched a Paul Joseph Watson video about incredibly vain, narcissistic, liberal, feminist women who find it a mystery to date. Then wail to themselves in cars and post it.

What is it with the posting in cars deal, anyway?

One crazy woman, with 3 kids, named the salary of $130k, he must have 2 houses and one with six bedrooms so her kids have their own room, 3 cars or something. Then, with her bird hands (and they are real) and 2" fake nails, went into an age limit of 26-35yrs. Yeah, I am sure you'll find someone.

I am glad I missed this vs meeting guys normally. One girl sat in her car weeping that she dates good looking and successful men but feels...drumroll...nothing.

Another had a hissy fit in her car (she did have red hair and probable PMS) wailing and crying that she can't handle dating.

They all seem psycho. I blame Dims as well as social media. I have never recorded myself doing anything. Because it is too weird and I don't like my voice. Much less mentioning to the entire universe that I am crazy.

I do believe social media is our undoing. One of our sons told me an aunt broadcast her eye infection on fakebook. Startle photos & hideous. Why? WTH?

Well, the surgeon called today - looks like I will be having Liver Resection surgery on or around December 11th. He thinks I will be recovered enough that we should be able to keep our plans to visit family and friends for Christmas.

He also said that I should be able to do the next item on my Bucket List (Year #2 Boogaloo)....

The TiFWs are goin' to Vegas, baby!

I spent most of the day making reservations for air travel, hotel/resort (The Venetian), 3 concerts (Chicago, Barry Manilow, and The Eagles), and the Wizard of Oz at The Sphere. There are 2 other shows to schedule, but I am not sure what order I want to see them in. One is a magician, and the other one is Dita von Teese.

We are going high-end all the way, 'cuz this will be the only time we go to Vegas. It's gonna be wild!

Now to convince hubby to go see George Strait in Lubbock in April....

I read it, and it was excellent.

I also just watched Critical Drinker's long video on Falling Down. It too was excellent.

And if you watch the cideo to the end, it ties in nicely with the Drehrer piece... insofar as the youth of today may be disaffected, disillusioned, commie-leaning, and withdrawn, but that did not happen in a vacuum. We, as a country, have some big problems to solve. I am starting to think the biggest problem is making sure the youngsters of today have an America where they have a glimmer of hope of prospering.

I liked the one, make up perfect, who whined what a lot of work it was to meet a guy.

I never found it to be hard at all. Granted not many asked me out because I had an aura or something. I should have worn a placket saying "I'm finally ready! Line up!" It only took 20yrs because I did not want to date much in HS and junior college due to being independent as well as possibly weird. I did not date much is my story til I met my future husband. He did not seem to fear me.

Eventually some crossed the great barrier reef and I went out. Still not a huge effort was made by me.

The one weeper acted like it took hours to spackle on her make up (and maybe it did) and dress.

It seems complicated and they will all be past prime and really desperate in 10yrs. Maybe stop whining on film?

I feel sorry for guys having to put up with this. That girl with the button on her necklace? The basic 911 to friends necklace of rape? A great ice breaker with your martini!

321 I'm 58. I work with a couple of fantastic guys who are about 30. Management above them, and me, are all old timers who just want a couple more years so they can really really kill it in retirement.

It occurred to me this summer just how many old dudes (me included... I admit this to them) are clinging on to jobs "just a little longer" which means there is nowhere for them to go. These are excellent young men. They have no hope of upward movement in the jobs they're in unless some old guy buys the farm.

Meanwhile we have Pelosi, Bernie, Grassley, Schumer, McConnell, etc... running this country into the ground and bankrupting our children's future. I think the next generation will f*ck things up, but it is their future, not mine and not the octogenarians in charge. The old f*ckers need to get out of the way and let the new generation get a feel for the wheel before its too late.

I've been wrestling with this for a while now.

With the ever climbing cost of fighters, and the fact that it seems to take 40 years now to replace them (as opposed to the good old days when every 5-10 years there would be a bunch of semi obsolete planes that could be had at a bargain) you wonder at what point the littler countries are going to decide it's not worth it to own 10 reasonably current fighters any more.

355 I took Suburban #3 in to the tire shop today, and had the "new" (actually one season used) tires mounted and balanced. Man! What a difference in the way it drives. Used to have vague steering that would follow the crown of the road, or drift to one side, then the other. Now, it goes straight down the road. I took my hands off the wheel at 60 mph, and it drove straight for a quarter mile before I had to correct a little.

When I got home, I went and did something that would have greatly pained the normally frugal Peon in me. Took a one-inch hole saw, and made a hole in the sidewall of each of those bad tires. I'll take them to the dump tomorrow. Don't want some other poor bastard to pick them up, and have grief from trying to use them.

Anything I owned by Acura. The damn things don't break. I had small Acura that Mrs B bought with a 5sp stick. She lasted 3 years and said yeah not enough room for shit when she goes food shopping, so it became a spare car and she got a new dodge intrepid with the mobster disposal trunk, a 2000 with the better engine. Meanwhile, I start using the small acura. We had it 17 years. Only did brakes and tires, and 1 battery. Gave it to her niece with 145K on it, and she ran it up to well over 200K with no issues. Mrs B turned the intrepid into a ghost in 4 years, it had 120K because of a 70mile round trip commute to work, going to school at night, ballet, a few trips to texas for guitar shows, etc. We gave it to a friend who ran it up to 210K and then donated it. Mrs b then gets an Acura TL, runs it up to 260K miles. I gave it to a friend, he runs it up to 300K, gives it to his daughter, she runs it up to 307K and gives it away. It still had original suspension, steering, and exhaust. I only did 1 coil pack and a throttle body gasket on it. She now has an Acura RDX. 160K and not a peep out of it.

There's a video of the aftermath of the assassination they're going on about. Candace Owens may have picked up on this.

Anyway, it shows the security guys all around Charlie lying on the ground after he was shot. They're scrambling, and one of them picks up a chair in the way and tosses it aside on top of a table. In the footage, it looks like the legs of the chair pass right through the table.

Therefore, the whole scene was fake, AI generated, they scream.

Turns out it was one of those cantilever type chairs -- if your brain assumes it's a normal chair with back legs, it looks just like it passed through the surface of the table.

The biker, in the righthand lane, started yelling at the driver in the white car, who was in the middle lane. Then the white car responds by pulling into the righthand lane and sideswiping the bike, which then goes all over the place until it wipes out.

Thanks for the cyclist/biker vocabulary cleanup.

Well started with the wax museum behind the wheel doing a somewhat lazy merge into the rider's lane, but they were somewhat far ahead, and on the bike he was riding the brakes will flatten your eyeballs, so all he had to do was slow down a bit and wait to get around them. He moved up to the side of car, lost his shit, started hammering the mirror off the car.

I think part of the problem today is what the media environment rewards.

To give an example: I saw a podcast clip the other day of a former covert CIA agent (Andrew Bustamante) explaining the Middle East (specifically the Saudi vs Iran dynamic). My takeaway is that it's clear this guy has an expert-level understanding of the region, dynamics, and motivations of the different actors. It doesn't mean I agreed with everything he said (I didn't), but he clearly knew what he was talking about.

The very same day, I watched a clip of "comedian" Dave Smith on the Triggernometry podcast talking about the region (& specifically downplaying the perceived threat from Iran to other ME countries), and the only possible takeaway was that this is someone with no understanding of the region or how anyone involved in things about various issues. This is just about me not agreeing with Smith, but him actually knowing nothing about the topic he was commenting on.

Then I look at X, and Bustamante has 39K followers, and Smith has 858K.

NEW: Senator John Fetterman refuses to back down as Katie Couric continuously tries to get him to condemn Charlie Kirk.

Couric: Do you think his body should have been flown on Air Force Two?

Fetterman: I'd say that that was [Trump's/Vance's] choice.

Couric: Did you have any issues now in hindsight over some of the things that Charlie Kirk said? ...

Fetterman: Charlie engaging in debate would never justify what's happened. I just chose not to take the opportunity to argue his views after children lost their father in the most violent public way.

Couric: I think some people might say Charlie Kirk's rhetoric was extreme ... People think his words lead to violence.

Fetterman: I think we agree that we probably didn't agree with much of what he said. But I'm sure we both agree that you shouldn't execute them in public.

When I started school (1st grade. Yep kindergarten was something commies from Europe thought up later) on my first day I was out for recess, had to pee, and found a suitable tree. Two girls approached and informed me that the teachers get really mad if they see you doing that.
They were not shocked just informing me.
Incidentally, that first day the principal sent three kids home and informed their parents that kids were required to wear shoes to school.
It was a different time.
