Son's current Golden as a puppy spent a lot of time in emergency vet's. For eating mulch and the baby's socks. IV's took care of the blockage.
His first Golden would come to our house in FL and eat through coconuts. No one seemed concerned about him.
He'd also eaten feathers from his bed, part of a particle board table, and most of a book as a puppy. Sure he pooped white paper mache for awhile, but he was ok. They did not listen to me that he still needed crating at 6mo old. Came home to feathers in the air like snow from his bed and the rest just happened organically in the same day. He was crazy.

The exact same faces we made one Easter in FL, and eating a gorgeous lemon meringue pie I made. Unfortunately I used gigantic Meyer lemons from a neighbor's tree in the recipe. Would remove enamel from your teeth. It was an Easter surprise! Boys were small but remember.
They remember all of my cooking adventures, including burning the end of my nose with roux making gumbo for Super Bowl Sunday. That was a disaster.

Tell me about it! I was walking my dog one night in the front yard when I lived in Northern Virginia, and an owl swooped down out of a tree right in front of me and made off with a rabbit. The poor dog - a pitbull mix, that looked fierce but was actually quite pusillanimous, and who I was halfway convinced had seen, but ignored, the rabbit - was momentarily traumatized.
I love the sound of owls hooting softly in the night.

I admit I still enjoy a lot of episodes of it. But yes, there were problems, and sometimes Alda went nutzo with trying to bring praise to himself, the character of Hawkeye, and the relentless anti-war POV.
Having said that? Faith was treated with respect on the show; see how they portrayed Father Mulcahy. Col. Flagg was a nut but Potter OTOH was a true patriot.
And Charles Emerson Winchester III was a great character (and replacement for Frank Burns), an open conservative who could be a huge elitist snob, but was also a brilliant surgeon, often times thoughtful, and held his own with Hawk and BJ's antics, plus he was never made to apologize for his conservative POV.

The only thing I can add that I learned through experience is barn owls and their fledglings venture out in the evening about an hour or so later than the GHO and they're more fearful of humans than GHO. The barn owls fly at my head shrieking if I go outside when they have babies and the GHO ignore me if I go outside to watch their babies hunt.
If I get too close to the GHO baby on the ground the parents start bill clicking and hooting and I will leave because I don't want to find out what happens next.

Heterochromia is common among some dog breeds like Siberian Huskies and Australian Shepherds.
We had a Borzoi with a blue eye, which is a very recessive trait. I called him "The Blue Eyed Dog of Destiny".

It was, he was my 16 year old black tom who was the sweetest and most paranoid cat I ever had. He was the feral kitten I took into the vet when I found him, the vet told me he tested positive for FIV and wouldn't last a year. He also always wanted out about 5 AM and would come in at 6AM for breakfast, until he didn't come in and I had to go looking for him.

My cats were born under a shed, or left outside by the previous owners, or lived stray for a while before arriving here. They can't tolerate being indoors all the time. The kittens I keep in when it is dark, and I worry.

I want to say that All In The Family is a show that's become so dated, it's almost unwatchable. But the truth is that if you look past the micro-specifics of each episode's plot, and enjoy the "bigger picture" of it (befuddled conservative guy who feels besieged, unappreciative preachy/lazy leftist son-in-law, etc), it still works.

We do have some sort of small owl that burrows into the ground (forget the name), but only down near the border (imagine lots of their habitat is kaput by now).

I found a tiny owl dead in my yard and I think it was a burrowing type, it was really small.
The barn owls make the scariest noise ever and you'd remember it. I go in the house when they shriek, it's a warning and I don't want to be attacked by an owl.

I have a very cheap Brinkman electric. I think I paid under a $100 for it new. I started using wood pellets in eight #8 cans for the smoke. Four and then four after two hours.
It is astonishingly easy to cook on. I've done pork and brisket, turkey and chicken. Never done any fish though.

Lessee. Senate majority leaders publicly mau-mauing SCOTUS with blatantly suggestive language (violence). SCOTUS justices being "protested" and then threatened in their homes. A governor having his house torched while he's inside. Online commentators being threatened (for real). Federal law enforcement being attacked, and mostly importantly such attacks being openly encouraged by office-holders.

All I can say for myself is that every one of my many cats over the years have been ferals rescued from the street, and they all readily adjusted to indoor-only living.
Flash, here in front of me, who was feral for seven years, took to indoor living immediately. Feral kittens don't really know they were ever feral, and in theory have nothing new to adjust to.

Maybe, but mine were impossible to deal with if they didn't get outside. Indoor cats when it was wet and cold, but they hated being indoors in the summer. That is why I started feeding them wet food morning and night, so I could at least count noses daily.
Taking that little black tom to the vet was like Rikki-Tikki-Tavi battling Nag among the water jars in the bathroom. Every. Time.

My parents always overcooked steak. They would buy exquisite cuts of meat and then burn them black. When we had a cookout, you had to hang around the grill and snatch your steak off yourself if you wanted anything less than well done.

And both were MTM Productions. Both used "bullpen" sets. As The Mary Tyler Moore Show came to its end, they just shuffled the premise around for WKRP.

Once a few years ago, I prepped my own steak and made it medium-rare. Then I stepped away for a moment. *My freakin' Mom* swung by, saw the steak, thought it was undercooked, and put it *back on the grill* for me. Oh gee thanks so much Mom!! :-P
So now I NEVER leave my steak unattended!!!!!

Coat it in olive oil before you cook it. Do it with steak as well. It locks in the moisture so that even well done meat is still tender. It's so effective that my wife had me check and recheck the internal temperature, because "well done" always tasted like a desert.
The same is true with chicken. "Done" chicken was dry, don't you know, that's how you can tell it is done.
Even an average cut of steak now is like butter with a marinade and some oil.

Anyway, I read later on that MTM knew that as well. So the singer of the song just recorded gibberish for vocals.

The real-life Wyatt Earp only killed one man during his time in Kansas, and that one died from infection after Earp winged him. The OK Corral gunfight was the first time he deliberately shot to kill anyone; the TV show was trying to be accurate in having him avoid killing during the earlier seasons, but since they were inventing most of the gunfights he was involved in during those seasons, you'd think they'd have invented a few bad guys for him to kill. When the show eventually got to the OK Corral, they featured the most accurate screen representation of the famous gunfight; it puts most others to shame, and remarkably for early-1960s TV, it's done in slow motion.

I didn't think of how that sounded, I am not in the city, I am decidedly suburban, and everyone lets their cats run free. People in cities don't have that option, but they still have cats.
I am transitioning the new kitten to being comfortable outdoors, he is about 7 months old. The older tom seems to be teaching him how to hunt, of course he is no good at hunting birds either so I don't worry. I worry less because the young cat is also afraid of overhead birds.
However, his name should have been Tom Sawyer, because he is irrepressible and is always at 100%

The good seasons of Magnum, p.i. are still good (1-4, last two). The first two seasons of Miami Vice are excellent.
I'm going through Moonlighting, and it's still fun, but we all know when it peaked. The good seasons of Remington Steele were quite good as well, since it was basically the same show (from the same producer).

A lot of what the GOP has been doing is force Dems to make bad votes, the ones they can hammer them with next year and provide citations and stuff.
What's interesting is that the Dems are doing the opposite of what parties normally do. Usually you have the moderates jump ship, but the safe seats hold the line. Schumer had the safe seats (or people not seeking re-election) take a dive because there are no moderates. Even in purple states, Dems fear primary challenges. That's a pretty messed up dynamic.

Now that I'm retired, I'm digging up a lot of the old tv shows, including westerns. One thing that's fascinating is to see relatively famous movie actors who, as they got older, started doing TV shows. Also, it's fun to see young actors in these shows who later became famous in the movies.
Not a western, of course, but one of the wildest things I ever saw was an episode of Andy Griffith featuring Jack Nicholson.

My K-machine did not survive the trip from California, and I didn't want to part with $100 to replace it. Found a reasonable unit at Walmart that brewed both K-cups and regular ground coffee. It actually has separate brew modes for each choice. I like the regular ground mode with Lavazza Colombian. Oh, and you can brew any size from 6-14 oz. The ground coffee basket holds enough to provide an impressive 12 oz cuppa. Only set me back twenty bucks..

Lots of older guys function OK. The problem is Arec's insane rages, that have blown multiple gaskets. His Johnson inflated and fluttered like a party favor as he raged, and eventually it didn't return to baseline like before.

One gauge is whether they actually got radio play. Quite a few did.
It's interesting to see how they fill them out, either by adding additional verses or an instrumental section. Did people like them because of the tune, or because it reminded them of their favorite show?

The fact that Suffragettes subsequently embraced Margaret Singer does not refute the logic that abortion is innately unnatural. It makes mothers into murderesses. Actual feminine women despised it.
