25 The artwork intricately depicts a coastal scene with a fine layer of pebbles covering the ground. In the foreground lies a smoldering piece of driftwood, surrounded by what appears to be the remnants of a lobster meal – distinguished by the vivid red shells scattered among the coals. Smoky tendrils rise from the embers, trailing upwards and blending seamlessly into the sky above, which is subtly rendered in muted tones. The seascape in the background features calm, dark waters, creating a stark contrast with the bright and detailed elements on the shore. The overall composition evokes a sense of quiet aftermath and contemplative solitude.

Lots of people hurting in society and the Lord hears all those appeals made by believers to lead us one by one to a better world.

There are people far worse off and deserving of more sympathy than I right now, many of which are just not talking about their problems online.

So basically 12% of eligible voters voted for him.

And I suspect that’s the case with a lot of mayor races in these off year elections.

Had the election been last year, this piece of shit would have maybe got 15%. But because the right stays home in elections in odd years, people like him? And Mamdani and the socialist in Seattle win easily.

301 "Bringing Out the Dead" is my Scorsese fave.

It's an excellent flick that also has all/most of Scorsese's big themes and concerns wrapped into the plot, characters and action, which is how I like movies/novels to operate. Instead, of posting "didja geddit?" moments as he is sometimes want to do.

If you've never seen it give it a whirl.

Oh, I've seen 'em all. And I love Bringing Out the Dead. I call it his Michael Bay movie, in the most endearing and loving terms. I have the limited edition 4K from Paramount, even.

Do check out Silence, though.

Everyone should watch Silence.

"Silence" is excellent.

Both the movie and the novel.

Glad there's someone out there besides me that likes "Bringing Out the Dead".

Isn't that the very definition of fascism - where the state doesn't seize the businesses, it simply appoints itself the manager of them without bearing any of the costs when they fail?

309 264 It would be fun to write a little satire story about a movie production where the main cast goes absolutely insane and eventually takes the entire production crew hostage. Producer tries to shut down the set, and they literally put a gun to his head and demand he keep filming. Their demands become increasingly unhinged and impossible to meet. No movie ever gets made. The cast all dies at the end. Violently.

We might understand more about mammalian cladistics if more of those other Mesozoic-era offshoots survived, like the multituberculates. Platypus is like a tumor on the lowest part of a grand oak, beneath the actual branches.
