The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

minaj2025.png

The conspicuous apathy when it comes to the murder of Christians by Muslims is nowhere more obvious than in Nigeria, where the bloodshed is savage and everywhere, and has been for 15 years. But it is focused on Christians, because that is what Muslims do. They are a bit more than 50% of the population of Nigeria, and their playbook is ancient and clear...convert, pay, or die. And since Nigeria is a poor country, and its Christian population is committed to actual Christianity, rather than the post-modern mess of Christianity in the West, they are killed.

They are killed because they are Christian. They are killed because they are devout. They are killed because the revolutionary political philosophy that is Islam will tolerate no other social construct, especially one that recognizes the individual.

But mostly they are killed because they are poor and black and conservative Christian, and the West simply does not care about the deaths of poor black Christians, because they do not fit into the hierarchy of class and race and colonizer status that elevates an Arab rock-thrower shot by Israeli soldiers to the top of the grievance list.

If Mainstream Christianity wanted to elevate the murders of 100,000 Christians to a prominent place in its discussions of every other social issue, it could. Perhaps it could supplant the pressing issues of giving communion to adulterers, or performing marriages for polygamists, or ordaining two-spirit, non-binary, gay transsexuals.

Look close to home...at the carnage of our inner cities. Blacks murder blacks at an unimaginable rate, and nobody cares. Jews are beaten in the streets of our cities, and nobody cares. Christians are harassed and condemned by Muslims in Dearborn, and nobody cares.

Conservative religion is anathema to the post-modern West; they see it as perhaps the most significant enemy of their overarching goal of the destruction of traditional culture and Judeo-Christian philosophy. And, of course it is! Accepting traditional interpretations of scripture and accepting its authority, personal morality guided by that scripture, traditional views of marriage, abortion, etc! That repulses our elites, and they will not defend it. Add blackness to the mix, and we see the current situation in Nigeria as the culmination of three generations of post-religious thought.

President Trump was absolutely correct in calling out the government of Nigeria. There is a genocide brewing there (and, sadly, in other places), and pushing back against Islam in Nigeria would be a welcome addition to the efforts of Israel in the Middle East.

Because it is a war, and only a few in the West recognize it!

What they mean when they say compassion is "encouraging sin."

Actual Christians being actually murdered by actual oppressors?

Yeah, they aren't trendy with the elite of the world, so the fake ministers don't worry about them.

Clinton put a stop to it too. I remember reading about a "professional" army of around 100 guys that pretty much ground this muslim shit to a stand still. They never lost a single man and were devastating to the genocidal goat fuckers. I think they were hired by the country that had the problems. I read on X (so, veracity is unconfirmed) that the mohammedans take young musselmen and send them to christian areas to beg.

After they've been there for a year, they get the young mohammedan to give the layout of the place, who the leaders are, and then arm them to go back and kill everyone. (with a large cohort of the devil-worshipping savage musselmen)

1) that they refused to discuss why they were kidnapped (because they were Christian),

2) the fact that the the abductors were muslim,

3) what they were kidnapped for (to be sold as slaves)(because that's what muslims do to captives, always have, always will)
- - - -
4) The girls were the survivors.
Boko Haram was slaughtering the Christian boy students and all adults in the same attacks in which the girls were kidnapped. Churches and schools barricaded and set on fire, mass murder by machete, etc..

They reframed it as a 'girls being denied an education problem' when it was a Christian genocide.

Interesting response to that, which is that the situation is bad in a different way:

stop parroting every propaganda you read on the internet.

The recent killings in the north central region have nothing to do with a Christian genocide or religious based killings. Matter of fact more Muslims are killed in total however the killings in the Muslim states of kwara, katsina and zamfara are ignored by western media while those in plateau a majority Christian state is being selectively propagated as a Christian genocide(Note: these states are all in the same region in Nigeria), we Muslims just happen to have the least western connection to spread propaganda however even if we did those spreading this propaganda don’t even care about Muslim lives.

The recent killings are by suspected herders of the Fulani nomadic ethnic group alongside local bandits which has been remixed by western and pro Israeli Christians and some eastern Nigerian Christian’s as “jihadist” motivated which is far from reality

That's an oversimplification, but it's true. Thomas Sowell documents this.

Of note: Africa is 1/3 bigger than Europe, but has less coastline. It's not just lack of ports, the geography everywhere is terrible.

That explains why it never developed on its own. BUT, that's not enough to explain why it's poor now. Why it's poor now is because of institutions, both legal and cultural.

The ladies, all of them, were opposed to having a female minister. Completely rejected the entire idea of women being ordained. This, they said, was the quickest way to ruin a church.

Same little village church left the United Methodist conference a few years ago. They were fed up with being forced to accept all the deviance that the UMC insisted on calling tolerance.

138 I think there's a seduction associated with religion without sin. A lot of mainstream protestant churches have, I think, adopted the Unitarian idea of "God made me, and He don't make trash." The problem with this is that it rejects the notion of "free will" which can only be described as the ability to choose, or not choose sin. It turns the idea of Jesus dying for our sins on its head. What did He die for? Of course, they mostly have "evolved" to the idea that He was just a mortal man and a great moral teacher (which CS Lewis has rebutted eloquently- essentially, He can't be both, He's either God, or an immoral monster).

160 Friendly reminder: Nigeria is the 10th largest oil producer on the planet. This has nothing to do with "Christians." It is just another evil plot to enrich executives and shareholders of multinational petro corporations (along with the MIC).

What’s not right is Trump's talking about “our Christians “and then talking about citizens of Nigeria. I get that Christians all over the world wanna stand together but he is the government church and state need to be separate.

Unless there is evidence that the Nigerian govt itself actually played some role in enabling the massacres, US involvement is a completely backwards approach.

We also aren't the fucking religion police. I don't pay taxes so he can go kill strangers. WTF are we doing?

We could have a government that denounces religion entirely, but no, we are getting into stupid abrahamic pissing contest.

Trump purposely left his hand off the Bible when being sworn in…so there’s your answer on how religious he is.

Evangelicals are in a race with Catholics to control the politics of Christian Africa. Russ Vought is chair of a newly formed panel on some "African Initiative".

169 which CS Lewis has rebutted eloquently- essentially, He can't be both, He's either God, or an immoral monster).

I watched Jordan Peterson discussing Alex O'Connor about this.

Alex took the con position in regards to Christianity but he noted that the passion and resurrection of Jesus are a real problem from the anti-Christian side. We have plenty of evidence from people that they say Jesus die and then come back. And you know they were telling what they believed to be true because they faced torture and death for saying this - people will lie to get things, they won't lie to lose them...

Now his take was that while mass delusions are extremely rare, this must be an example of that because the other take - Jesus was divine and came back is less easy to believe.

171 I think there's a seduction associated with religion without sin.
Posted by: Farmer Bob at November 11, 2025 11:38 AM (hlNLQ)

I think you're wrong.

The "God made me and He doesn't make trash" isn't about "free will". It suggests that you think you are perfect the way you are.

It ignores the problem of sin and a fallen man. It's really very arrogant- only God is perfect. You are seriously messed up and that's why He sent His Son to save you.

God wants to SAVE you from who you are. Stop celebrating the sin that divides you from Him.

West Africa had a similar trajectory as Central Asia. Both got the camel. Suddenly the vast deserts and savannas weren't a barrier anymore. Meanwhile the deep oceans - the Atlantic and Indian - still sucked for transport unless you hugged the shore with a big flag saying "MY ANUS IS READY, PIRATES" on it.

Congressman Moore Introduces Resolution Condemning the Persecution of Christians in Nigeria
November 7, 2025
Press Release

In part, "The ongoing brutal attacks against Christians in Nigeria should shake every American to the core. We applaud President Trump's move to designate Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern. I’m proud to co-lead this resolution with Congressman Moore and our colleagues to help ensure targeted Christian communities receive real protection. We stand ready to fully support decisive action from the Trump Administration to stop these heinous attacks and end the persecution of Christians in Nigeria once and for all,” Congressman Mark Alford (MO-04) said."

OTOH & ie,
Jonathan Jackson, D-IL, & others have voiced strong opposition to threats of military action, calling them a "dangerous overreach" that could repeat colonial patterns. He advocates for support via humanitarian and peacebuilding initiatives.

Congressman Chris Smith, NJ-D, has called for the rigorous use of of existing tools like sanctions & keeping those who persecute others out of the US.

There is literally no position too extreme for the Episcopal Church, short of (maybe), mass executions of the kulaks.

I believe Tucker Carlson is an Episcopalian, and he has professed a hatred of Christian Zionist heretics (whatever that might be), so he seems to be ripe for radicalization. Whether that translates into a bigger issue within the Episcopal Church, I don't know. Carlson's grasp of the teachings of Jesus Christ are quite different than mine.

230 Years ago, our our former church, we had a guy in from sub Saharan Africa. His mission? He was teaching villagers to fight back and protect their families. These were Christian villages, by the way and the man teaching villagers to fight was/is a devout Christian himself.

As he put it, "It's Biblical to fight to protect your family."

The slide show he had of men who'd died protecting their families was heartbreaking yet heroic.

Posted by: 18-1 at November 11, 2025 11:48 AM (sKqQm)

I've discussed that elsewhere quite a bit. After the Bar Kochba rebellion the land and population was devastated, but it grew back under Byzantine control, and stayed pretty high until the Crusades began. The Crusades marked 2 centuries of constant warfare, with both sides taking and retaking important areas, and it left the land almost completely depopulated and ruined when it ended (date usually given is 1296) After another couple of centuries it ended up under the control of the Ottomans, who couldn't care less about it as they had other more pressing concerns in other areas they controlled. It was a desolate backwater for at least 5 centuries before the early Zionists began to rebuild it in the late 19th century.

------------
I watched Jordan Peterson discussing Alex O'Connor about this.

I firmly believe that the Dome of the Rock is a Byzantine Basilica built about 60 years before the rise of Muhammed, which was then repurposed by the Umayyeds with claims that they had built it themselves. It's amazing how almost no contemporaneous records exist of the 600's and 700's in the region; more than a century goes by before they start showing up again.

Interesting, Things have come full circle. Way back before I turned 29, denial of Christ walking the earth was normal. Then it went to, "yeah, He walked the earth, but, He was just a great teacher" which was a way of denying His divinity. Now we're back to denial He existed and exists.

There's a really interesting site that I follow called "History for Atheists." The guy who runs it is an atheist himself, but he's also a historian, first. The whole purpose of the site is to refute the historical myths that many atheists believe about Christianity. He debunks the supposed non-existence of Jesus in severall posts.

None of this was accidental.

313 Speaking of churches, Mrs. Paco and I made an overnight trip to Chesapeake, Virginia to attend a Latin Mass. Much more conducive to a spirit of reverence, in my opinion, than the boring post-Vatican II vernacular Mass.

When we lived in Richmond, we were parishioners at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, another church that does the Latin Mass (and ground zero, I believe, for the FBI's investigation of "conservative" Catholic organizations years later).

Richard Carrier is on that beat. I've mentioned him here before as arguing for the authenticity of Paul's core letters and of 1 Clement. That means the Church always had a "high christology" of Jesus being (somehow) Divine. Jesus made Divine claims of himself in postresurrection appearances.
So he'd agree you don't get to be a Christian who thinks Jesus was just some Jew somewhere.
Carrier's point of departure is that Jesus died and was crucified on one of the celestial spheres, not on Earth. So he doesn't think the Gospels are real.

319 I unadvisedly read a HuffPo article about why evangelical Christians were so immoral and non-compassionate. It turns out we have vertical morality, which means we obey God even when He directs us to do evil things. The "good" people on the left have horizontal morality, which means they care about other people and consider the impact of their actions on others.

I was distressed that I cannot just laugh this off, because I have hopes for a dear family member that she will overcome her fear of Christian churches that honor God and believe the Bible. But now I better understand her reticence. At her church, the congregants are reassured that they are good people. At our church, we contemplate the goodness of God. Ours is uplifting to the soul, while hers elevates empty self-regard. I want her to be attracted to the Truth.

I always rankle a bit at the broad brush generalities. "Nobody" who? Your very article evidences that you care. Most here do, I'm sure. As you said, Trump cares. "Not enough of those in a position of influence or power care enough" — I suppose that takes a lot more words.

Just a minor critique of the writing —"phrasing"—, not of the point.

"Because it is a war, and only a few in the West recognize it!"

Yeah, like that. War (in Breitbart's whisper) and too few indeed.

330 "Apparently, the hot, new take is to deny that Jesus Christ even existed."

That tired old trope has come back again. There are plenty of mentions of him in pagan literature of the classical era - mostly dismissive, of course, but still testifying to His having lived.

As another commenter pointed out, the fact that numerous people are willing to give their lives for Him is, if not proof of His divinity, at least proof of how strongly they believed Him to be divine. But to go further and say that all these people gave their lives for a first-century version of Harry Potter, is just plain nuts.

It is. Knocked a mile or two off the trip, too. When you drive over it, you have no real sense of how high it is. The ten miles to west of the bridge, between there and the town of Golden, BC, clings to a rocky slope of shale. They are gradually widening and four-laning that stretch, but it is very expensive because the rock is so fractured.
