Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | The Morning Report — 11/5/25![]() With that as a preamble, if you will, I share what an old college buddy of mine posted on Facebook along with a stock photo of the Empire State building: Politicians come and go. Two iconic Manhattan buildings (Empire State and Chrysler) have stood above it all for 95 years. This is my favorite of the two. My dear sweet Lord in Heaven, Master of the universe and creator of all things, did you have to inflict such a braindead asshole on me so early in the morning. To my otherwise dear yet braindead knee-jerk liberal friend, I wonder if you had this sentiment in mind back in 1993 when Rudy Giuliani the first Republican, and for sure non-leftist/liberal mayor in New York City probably since forever was elected probably to your great disappointment. And then as his second term was coming to a close, two other iconic buildings which were only standing for about 30 years were reduced to smoldering ruins, the smoke plume and flames actually visible from space. Just to clarify, this happened not because of Rudy Giuliani, but because of the ineptitude and pig ignorance about the dangers of Islam by successive Democrat and Republican presidents. Yeah, politicians come and go which is probably what many Germans thought in 1933 when that funny little corporal was elected, ditto what the citizens of Zimbabwe/Rhodesia were thinking in 1980 when Robert Mugabe with the help of Jimmy Carter was installed as president, only to wind up victims of mass starvation and political repression due to the ineptitude, corruption and tyrannical brutality of the regime they thought was freely elected (pfft!) and would be voted out of office in the next election (double plus pfft!). So to my friend Steve, kindly get your head out of your ass and un-Fuck yourself after you and whoever else supported or voted for Mamdani because Democrat good/Republican evil go fuck yourself. Seems counterintuitive but appropriate nonetheless. The results of the key races are in the links and you can also peruse the usual websites for their full coverage and wrap-ups. And lastly, a quick shout-out and thank you for your continued support in hitting our tip jar. It truly is appreciated more than you can know.

Will they? Pardon my laughter. Probably greater odds of them seeing yesterday's results as a signal to compromise with democrats on the shutdown.

Posted by: Jonah at November 05, 2025 07:51 AM (YCxFk) It's a D split in the Senate. And now a big D split in the House. And Ds for Gov (LTG) and AG. They can pass what they want when they want b/c there are no minority rights in the VA House/Senate (1 vote wins on votes). The shutdown did not help by putting hundreds of thousands out of work who could then be the old USAID but now unpaid get out the vote machine for Democrats everywhere. I don't know that that happened, and it couldn't have been "overtly" political, but as we know, all of these operations are political, even if they say they aren't.
Finding a way around the USAID problem was probably genius on their part... As I mentioned before, I got no mailed voting materials, nor did my spouse. But my 2 kids got an overwhelming amount from "nonpartisan" voting groups, including hand written post cards. Posted by: Nova Local at November 05, 2025 08:02 AM (tOcjL) 95

Republicans still haven't figured out that the political fight is never over with the left. It's a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly struggle with them. You don't simply win one election somewhere, or nationally, and then think "we've won" and quit.

Its foolish to think that this is a Party thing - the obvious flaw in that reasoning is requirement to add the Uniparty patch when the template often fails. It is spiritual warfare. The reason why so many in the GOPe don't recognize it is because they themselves are reprobates and insensitive to any moral or ethical standards in the sense of being personally applicable. Satan, the Great Accuser knows morals and ethics, and the children of Stan do too, they remind us of that every time they attempt to manipulate us and control us by accusations leading to guilt. Their own corrupt and depraved nature lets them mock and ridicule these standards. They frame their grift and corruption in moral terms, but have zero intention of following through with the promises. I don't the results from last night have anything to do with the midterm elections. Yes, it would have been great to win in places like NJ or VA but they aren't exactly deep red areas and with the possible exception of the VA AG race Republicans were the underdogs in every race. The left is angry and wants revenge and they are motivated. As noted about groups like the Ford Foundation they are also well financed and organized. In VA you also had a huge number of fed gov't workers and for obvious reasons they are angry. And while Sears might be a nice, admirable woman she is not much of a campaigner. When the top doesn't inspire its bad news for down ballot candidates. I can't say I'm surprised that Dems voted for an AG who joked about murdering his political opponents. On last Sunday's Book Thread, I mentioned a new book about the wreck, The Gales of November, by John Bacon. He says that Captain McSorley was going to retire, and only made the last trip because the money he would get from it would help him with nursing care for his sick wife.
Of course, people who know better than I say that Bacon is a slapdick who plays fast and loose with the truth, so who knows? "The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is a political nonprofit organization, not a political party with a ballot line.
