French salesman Dagobert Renouf had long been dreaming of marrying his then-fiancée, Anna Plynina, but he was too poor to afford a proper wedding. To put it plainly, he was completely broke and on the verge of homelessness. But that was no reason to deprive his beloved of the wedding she had been dreaming of. Back in July, he posted on X, announcing that he had decided to try and cover the expenses of his nuptials by becoming a human billboard. Any company willing to promote their products or services was willing to buy a slot on his suit jacket. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers made a major wildlife trafficking bust last week, seizing a truck carrying 163 animals, many of them exotic reptiles, at the Anzalduas International Bridge. On October 22, CBP officers encountered a silver Toyota truck attempting to exit the U.S. into Mexico. A secondary inspection revealed dozens of reptiles, amphibians, and arachnids concealed within the vehicle. Officials say the animals were hidden in an apparent attempt to smuggle them across the border illegally. Among the seized wildlife were 24 royal pythons, multiple species of milk snakes and king snakes, various lizards, tree frogs, tarantulas, and several rare python morphs. Add to that the Republicans putting up candidates that nobody is going to crawl over broken glass to vote for. Good, grey, dull people who would make good governors but will never have the opportunity to do so.

This is what I been mulling over. The core Democrat Plantation (Blacks, women, under 30s, Hispanics, college educated) voted between 60% to 90% for the Communist. It also seems that when Trump is not on the ballot that middle that Trump won over revert to their core voting patterns. I think one full month is a good rule of thumb, PI. I suppose it could vary, depending on how much/how often one, uh, partakes.
My former employer began drug testing due to federal contract requirements, in the '80s. Previously, they didn't care.
So D-Day was finally announced, and they said everyone has 30 days to "clean up" and then everybody will be tested.
(Surprisingly, there were *still* a few idiots what got canned for failing.)

That’s where it’s headed, which is why for months I’ve said the Democrats cannot be allowed to ever hold power again. Trump needs to ignore the unelected judges and forge ahead. The GOP cucks need to nuke the filibuster and start slashing the gov’t to the bone and pushing through every single act that will mass disenfranchise Democrat voters.

Nice! Please avoid powder-coating the frame. It looks nice when new, but if gets scratched or chipped, it can come off in sheets. Paint, if scratched or chipped, can be touched up with more paint.
Had the Avanti out on the road again today. Adjusted the TV cable, and it is now shifting properly, but still a little early for my taste. Will adjust again. Made changes to gas pedal, and it is much better. Took out the pressure gauge I had temporarily connected to the line pressure port on the transmission. Wasn't telling me much useful information, and leaked onto the floor. I have shifter out of the car right now. Could not engage the "1" or "2" positions. Needs 2.25" of linear motion on the linkage rod. Lever on shifter moves more than that, but it's geometry is wrong.

Open differential, so maybe just one. The car definitely drives different than it did with the TH350. More jam off the line, and less RPM at cruise. Speedometer is waaay off, but part of that was from going from 3.07 axle to 3.54 axle. I will do some mathematical stuff, and figure out which speedo cable pinion I need to make it work right.

I watch historical 9-11 footage every August, trying to find newly-discovered stuff. The most interesting sub-genre is man-on-the-street reactions.
Yes, there is a lot of racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity there. What strikes me is that NYCers, regardless of those differences, seemed really really work-focused. They're there to earn, and a lot of them seemed like they cared about doing their jobs right, and they liked the intensity of the way they lived. In his acceptance speech he made clear on day 1 he is going to freeze rents in NYC. If that goes on for very long he will make it exceeding difficult for rental property owners to not go bankrupt and at the same time freeze the real estate market for such properties - good luck unloading one of those properties.

Same here, our local news is reporting our turnout is just under 30%. But we had quite a few city council, school board, and judge seats on our ballot. Along with something about the state long-term care fund which I don't contribute to so I don't give a shit about.

How Mamdani plans to pull of this off is a good question. After all he isn't a king though he seems to be acting like he is one. He may be bluffing but he sure seems confident that all his plans are done deals. I would think all his BS would be hit with a barrage of lawsuits that could derail matters; however given the corrupt courts in NY anything is possible.

Think Friends scenario where Monica lived in the apartment her grandmother once lived in and was affordable. That’s very common which also distorts the market.

Don't know. However, it seems that expanding rent control and then freezes to the unregulated rent market has to be a priority. With that in place landlords would stop maintaining properties and slowly go bankrupt, and because nobody in their right mind would be such property that leaves NYC government in a key position to condemn these distressed properties and take them over. That has to be more complicated that that but seems to be the backbone to break.

In my town of Easton CT, our long-shot Republican candidate overcame tremendous odds - in the form of a scion of a CT heating oil fortune and the proprietor of the most popular gathering spot in our town - to win election to First Selectman (equivalent to mayor) in a majority Democrat town, beating an incumbent administration. It took a lot of late nights, knocking on doors in town with no sidewalks, and frantically calling people at home with two hours left of voting from a crowded library conference room.
The rest of the state (or at least Fairfield County) got killed this election cycle. Our town may be the one bright spot in the state elections. Just got back from celebrating, and I'm ready for bed. It feels good, however. Our candidate won by less than 10 votes. It's going to a recount, but I still feel good.
Get out and vote folks. It really makes a difference.

I'm not sure, but I think her dad will be one of the winners, UNLESS he bought a rent-controlled apartment (unlikely if he was planning to landlord for income). Mamdani plans to freeze rents on rent-controlled units, which means that non-controlled units will see big increases in rent.

I was wrong. CA seems to have really wanted Prop 50. I think the "stick it to Trump" angle really paid off. The turnout in my area really was big, but it looks like a lot of D's were panicked into voting, and many R's and I's though that they could wait. I wonder how many people will realize that they SHOULD HAVE VOTED, even if it meant mailing in their ballots. Well, next time ...

By a huge margin, it seems: about 64%/36%...almost 2/3rds voted YES on this turd. Kalifornia is truly lost. It was bad enough with all the gerrymandering (the so-called commission is majority democrat). It's bad enough that we have jungle voting, so in some general elections, you'll only find two dems. It's bad enough that there is a supermajority of dems in both houses. It's bad enough that all the major elected officials are dem. Time to do what they do with gerrymandering in blue states to their minorities in red states.
