When I got married, we were riding in the limo out to Long Island and got stuck in traffic on the Grand Central. The driver in a car next to me indicated to roll down the window, so I did. He tossed me a pack of Twizzlers. Don't ask me, I was only there.

Posted by: RickZ at October 31, 2025 10:11 PM (gKDq2)

35 We put together ~225 candy packets for the trick-or-treaters this year (150 wasn't enough last year). Gonna have to make more next year - we ran out around 7:30 pm this year, and there were lots of kids still coming!

Our neighbor from across the street came over and sat on our porch and helped hand out candy with us - it was a lot of fun to hang out together and ooh and ahh over all of the cute kiddos in their costumes 🧙‍♀️🎃

This year we put some "fairy wands" out in the yard so that everyone could see to get up on our porch. They worked out so well that we decided that next year we might hand those out in addition to candy so that everyone can see the trick-or-treaters and vice versa (our neighborhood streets are pretty dark at night).

We gave some out with swag bags at our anniversary party, and they were a huge hit with our younger guests 😊♥️

49 As I said in the thread on "Trump: Nuke the Filibuster, Pass the CR," changing circumstances now make it a massive political winner to do a limited nuke of cloture, just for continuing budget resolutions. What I didn't mention is that this golden opportunity only holds through Monday. I will explain.

First, the (D)s have contempt for their own base, and they're not entirely wrong, but they're sociopaths in a bubble. They really don't have an accurate view. I think that they think that if the (R)s nuke the filibuster, they can call it "violating the Minority's rights" and their base will hear RAAAAACISM. But through end of business Monday, that is completely defanged and Uno-Reversed if folks hear that (R)s got them their EBT over (D) objections.

Second, (D)s will cave on Wednesday, or maybe as early as Tuesday, and then claim that they finally got the (R)s to do the right thing. And the blatant inversive lie will work on dummies, so there is a very short window to pre-empt it.

That is engineer thinking. I'm talking about the affect on political fortunes, not the flow of electrons through the circuits. And giving people relief from a personal crisis is absolutely massive. You are literally making a category error.

Also, I'm speaking of a targeted nuke of just cloture for continuing budget resolutions. For a general nuke, I would want to see the House first passing a massive flotilla of bills on every subject under the sun, for every MAGA and MAHA base priority ever conceived. But that's not what I'm talking about.

I explained it’s provenance to my minister, and he exclaimed,”You don’t have to apologize for having it!” And I don’t.

250 Rambo and Terminator rankings are incorrect.

T2 is only flashing SFX, T1 is the superior story...so much so, it got sued.

Rambo 1 is a good drama, body count of 1 and not by Rambo's hand. Rambo 2 is peak action and defines what a Rambo movie is.

Also more sex and nudity in Terminator 1. Better kills and gunplay too.

She got Musk to knock her up with space babies. And then, in Musk general fashion, he got bored and dumped her, she got jealous, there's some sort of legal thing going on.

Nobody looked good, the crew she was hanging out with, including babylon bee and for some time turning point, weren't great in this, somehow involved in setting them up.

She should have known Musk was a 55yo peterpan dipshit that wasn't going to sweep her off her feet to live happily ever after. She was young but not that young.

Musk making a big deal about how she wasn't as young as he wanted. Dude, you sick ai gooning mfer.

It was all bad. But like I said before, I do really hope at least the kid will be ok. I mean on one hand, he'll be drowning in money as he grows up, but on the other, he'll be drowning in money as he grows up.

Fine. Money for me.

Did twelve hours of Scary Count Miklos today. First part was at Walmart, part of the script I was given was about "you can buy still candy on SNAP today, last day"

Or "Ultima Dia" in the Spanish script, which was about 75%.

I was encouraged to be "scary" so I started with Hola! Count Miklos Immigra de CBP!"

I have a much better Hungarian Count outfit, don't wear it for work, because the temp agency does not pay for dry cleaning.

So the temp agency sent me to some bars and clubs. Hourly rate the same, but they buy you drinks.

Anyway, I insisted on being paid hourly by Venmo, money to Eyegore to stock the bar back at the ruined castle and start the Gulyas.

Now back at the castle, fire in the large fireplace. Changed out of that polyester crap into my favorite silk smoking jacket. Brushed teeth/fangs.

Now we await the cute chicks in the Slutty Vampire costumes. Slutty Nurses etc. are quite welcome.

She only made them at Christmas because they were so difficult.
Other than delicious, they had to be made up and baked a bit then taken out and allowed to rise, then baked to finish.
Almost ivory color with a thin crust about an inch or so high. Looked like two pieces the base cookie shaped with a dome.
She took the recipe with her.

295 I am almost done with the wiring phase of the transmission swap on the Avanti. Really hadn't planned on a re-wire, but I kept finding other fuckups, and one thing led to another. I think I have ONE wire left to connect, and that is ignition power to the 4th gear pressure switch in the transmission to enable converter lockup in 4th. And that one will be "temporary", since I think I will want to have a vacuum switch in the circuit, so that any brisk acceleration will unlock the converter momentarily.

Signal lights work. Courtesy light works, horn works. I tidied up the spark plug wires, and fitted them into little wire brackets stolen off the dead Suburban engine. Underhood area is starting to look tidy again.

296 Terminator was really a one shot idea. That's the problem with movies being made because of marketing. Imagine a "Them 2" and "Them 3" etc. Sequels only really work if the story can be continued and new angles can be found. Often the novelty of the idea is very specific and once you know the idea there's not much more to do than expound on the backstory. Marketing types LOVE to not have to sell a new idea though, which is why there are so many remakes of movies that never needed a remake

328 Best literary description of expert cursing evah:

"[He] broke loose upon [his victim] like a thunderclap. Oaths rolled from his lips in a continuous stream. And they were not namby-pamby oaths, or mere expressions of indecency. Each word was a blasphemy, and there were many words. They crisped and crackled like electric sparks. I had never heard anything like it in my life, nor could I have conceived it possible. With a turn for literary expression myself, and a penchant for forcible figures and phrases, I appreciated, as no other listener, I dare say, the peculiar vividness and strength and absolute blasphemy of his metaphors. ...

I was shocked. Oaths and vile language of any sort had always been repellent to me. I felt a wilting sensation, a sinking at the heart, and, I might just as well say, a giddiness ... While I appreciated the power of the terrific denunciation that swept of [the coprolalian's] mouth, I was inexpressibly shocked, The scorching torrent was enough to wither the face of [its victim.] I should have not been surprised if his beard had frizzled and curled and flared up in smoke and flame."

But the Westania agents are watching events on TV (in appropriate low res) but in color, and they are videotaping it and rewinding the tape to review scenes and details. That seems like a mixing of eras. I know, the whole scenario is made-up fiction. But it doesn’t appear to be consistent. I think the problem is, the creators don’t know quite when what technology was introduced. And, yeah, you can say they are spies and have advanced spy technologies. But why is the broadcast in color? 375 "Mine's 21 old enough to vote. Main thing is a good honest mechanic."

I had to replace the heater/AC control panel this year. I took a chance and bought a used one online for $90. I couldn't figure out how to get the old one out, even with the new tools they told me to use, so I took it to my regular mechanic to put in, and they graciously charged only $100.

They hesitated at first, because the wiring harness behind the panel is a bit charred. I said, well, we're this close, so shoot the moon, and got lucky.

Dealership would have charged me probably $1500 for that job.

377 I don't see how Uber drivers can break even, without generous tips. The fuel, insurance, maintenance, wear and tear and depreciation on their own equity in their end of the stick.

385 GP, my husband does Uber as a side gig. Sometimes it doesn't make a ton, sometimes he can make a couple hundred a night. Depends on the holidays, season, weekend or weekday, etc. It helps we live in a place with an active bar scene and he can do the airport run too. (You have to have an extra level of security clearance from Uber to pick up people at the airport, btw.) and as former military, he's also cleared to pick up and drop off people at the base.

But Uber eats? He refuses to do that anymore. It simply does not give a good return at all compared to the fuel and car maintenance. Regular Uber is more lucrative.

He is doing the Halloween drunk crowd tonight, and apparently is making good money so far!

393 Teresa, here's a decent explanation of the JD Vance hair meme:
https://tinyurl.com/49jwvbxu

I guess the left tried to meme JD after the Ukraine talks where he asked Zelenskyy "did you even say thank you?" Between south park and the left they reeeealy want to make him look fat. I can't tell if it's to fat shame him for being chubby when he was a kid, or just basic mean girl stuff.

What is ironic is we are supposed to not fat shame people, body positivity crap. But when they are trying to make fun of a republican they forget their own woke bullcrap and all that goes out the window.
