I generally am not an El Greco fan because so much of his art is very dark, and even sometimes hard to see the details, but I get the effort to augment the lighter parts, and I appreciate the use of Dutch technique to create a vivid subject.

All seriousness aside, the hair and beard are well done, and the expression on his face allows for various interpretations. Which can make a piece of art intriguing. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius, Dreaming of Elsewhere at November 04, 2025 09:40 AM (wzUl9) 39

Portrait of don Rodrigo Vázquez de Arce
Anonymous (Copy after: El Greco (Domenikos Theotokopoulos) Lost 1587-1597, it is now in the Museo del Prado in Madrid. Interesting look from the "model" to the artist. Anyway - don Rodrigo Vazquez de Arce - Born in Ávila, he was the son of a law professor and advisor to Charles I of Spain. He studied in the Colegio Mayor Santa Cruz of the University of Valladolid and became a judge in the Royal Chancellery of Granada, a member of the Council of Castile and a member of the Council of the Inquisition. (Wikipedia) A member of the Council of the Inquisition was a person on a governing body, such as the Grand Inquisitor who headed the council, or the other members who sat on it. For example, the Spanish Inquisition's Council of the Supreme and General Inquisition had a Grand Inquisitor and six members. These members had various roles, including theologians who acted as 'calificadores' and weighed cases, as well as prosecutors, notaries, and bailiffs who carried out the council's decisions. >>>Alright, what does 6-7 refer to?
It's funny to kids because it means nothing. But the explanations of where it might come from are even sillier than it being from nothing. "The "6-7" meme is used as a largely nonsensical, all-purpose interjection or inside joke. It has no fixed meaning, which is part of the point, though it is sometimes used to mean "so-so" or as a social signal of being "in the know". Origin and Spread Music Origin: The phrase originates from the 2024 rap song "Doot Doot (6 7)" by rapper Skrilla, where he repeatedly says "six-seven". Basketball Connection: The song snippet gained initial traction on TikTok when users began pairing it with highlight videos of NBA player LaMelo Ball, who is 6 feet 7 inches tall. Viral Popularization: The meme was further propelled by a viral video of a young fan (dubbed the "67 Kid") excitedly yelling the phrase at a basketball game, accompanied by a specific up-and-down hand gesture. Mainstream Adoption: Public figures, including NBA and WNBA players, have referenced the meme in interviews and celebrations, solidifying its place in pop culture." Speaking of clocks, some people have trouble adjusting to the clock adjustments, but I'm really happy to be back on Standard Time. I spend a lot of the Daylight Scamming months mentally correcting the clock time to standard, for reasons. We adjust feeding time accordingly, so the pets don't notice the change. Neither does the sun. ☀️ I think that guy in the portrait may be a distant relative of mine.
