Yea. It’s almost like they tried too hard to make it sad and depressing. I didn’t like it for that reason, but also because it didn’t jive with everything those characters did up to that point. They fight like hell no matter the odds for the entire movie, and then — oh well, we ran outta gas. Let’s all kill ourselves.

I think the All Time OG of abusively depressing endings is Expect The Unexpected. Hong Kong movie from 2000 or so. Yikes.

63 Vernet does wonderful things with light, especially the diffused moonlight in this painting. The craggy rocks make an interesting contrast with the gentle light and calm water. He did others of a similar nature but included small areas of fire light illuminating people huddled around them, which emphasized the surrounding soft darkness. I can almost hear the soft sounds of water and creak of the ship at anchor while the calm air (the pennants are not stirring) sets an emotional tone. Very effective.

113 Vernet's Wiki page has a reference by someone that his art was only decorative and without emotion. What an idiot. Vernet's paintings, whether a gentle scene like this one, a bustling harbor in daylight, or an ocean storm worthy of The Tempest, convey a mood and emotion for anyone who has been by an ocean. It may vary from peaceful to busy to terrifying but it is there.

"Style of"

Joseph Vernet (1714–1789) evolved a luminous landscape style inspired by the port cities of Italy and the precedent of the painter Claude Lorrain (1600–1682). Vernet’s fame led to the imitation of his compositions by many followers, such as Charles François Lacroix de Marseille (ca. 1700–ca. 1779) and Francesco Fidanza (1747–1819). The painter who created this seascape remains unknown, but they have taken compositional components from works by Vernet that were engraved in the 1770s.

168 Good summary at PJM.

>> Democrats in the Virginia House of Delegates pretty much have a supermajority. New Jersey Democrats have one in the state assembly. New Hampshire got bluer. Every Virginia county swung to the Left. California passed Proposition 50, which paves the way for its gerrymandering session. Maine rejected voter ID and passed red flag laws. In Georgia, two public service commissioners got blown out, with Democratic candidates in both races clinching over 60 percent of the vote. Last, in Bucks County, where conservative school board candidates clinched wins by campaigning against woke agenda nonsense, the Democrats retook the ground. They regained the majority in 2023. They finished off all the Republicans in the Central Bucks and Pennridge districts.

It's not the end, but this was an atrocious night for the Republican Party.

No, Nick Fuentes was not formally invited by Donald Trump to Mar-a-Lago in 2022. However, he did attend a private dinner there on November 22, 2022, as an unannounced guest of Kanye West (now Ye), who had requested the meeting with Trump.

The D legislature amendments to cap deductions for households with over 300K income to fund free school meals for everybody and now to supplement the fed SNAP money passed. I figured they would. The commies have gotten clever about "we will only tax the rich for this gimmedat" and average people figure the rich can afford to pay a few hundred more in taxes. Of course after another 10 years of inflation, 300K will probably be mid tier household income and all the wine moms will get to actually pay for their feel good claptrap.

If you aren't familiar with the incident or the person involved there is a less than zero chance you will mention it by accident. It was an important issue to some but not a world event. The only way it gets mentioned is people keep asking about it and somebody makes a mistake and mentions details and then someone else gets banned and perhaps the crazy person in question is alerted.

Cut off the food, water, and energy and the blue cities would have food riots in three days, cannibalism in a week.

The survivors could maybe get their civil rights back in a generation or two, given an intensive reeducation program akin to the de-Nazification effort carried out in Germany, post-WWII.

It wouldn't be a Bosnia.

300 From what I'm seeing, the average SNAP benefit is around $188/month. I don't know about you, but my monthly grocery bill is higher than that, and there's only one of me.
Posted by: Rodrigo Borgia

$8 billion divided by 42 million = 190/month.
7 people in a house = $1330/month.

That IS NOT meant to try to stay on par with people who work and put food on their table. That's supposed to SUPPLEMENTAL ASSISTANCE.

I see people posting "I only qualified for $20".

If they did, someone else got a shit ton of money then. Because we know how many are receiving and how much $$ is going out the door every month.

Posted by: rickb223 Acehole Extraordinaire coined by JSpicy at November 05, 2025 11:00 AM (GlKAP)

301 252. The amendment was not clear, but I think the SNAP part will be for illegals to get bennies if the feds crack down on states to better screen recipients and the free school meals has flowery language about money to allow local sourcing of ingredients and making the meals healthier.

The whole "free meals for everyone to remove stigma" was B.S. unless the schools in CO are incredibly retarded. Way back in the 20th century when I was in school in ND the parents bought lunch passes, they had a sliding scale for cost to parents, and if the family income was very low the passes were free; only the school admin had any way to know if a pass was subsidized or free they all looked the same. Only kids who very rarely ate the cafeteria fare instead of bringing a lunch would ever pay cash.
