Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy Cancels 7,200 Truckers' Licenses for Failing to Meet the Requiremnt of Speaking English

Keep Americans safe.

More than 7,200 commercial truck drivers have been taken off America's highways since the Department of Transportation (DOT), under Secretary Sean Duffy, began enforcing new English language proficiency standards in May -- part of a Trump administration effort to strengthen safety rules gutted under Barack Obama.

"[DOT] requires commercial truck drivers to speak and understand English to operate a big rig -- or they will be taken out of service," Duffy wrote on X. "This is about [President Trump] and his administration making America's roads SAFE again!"

According to the DOT, roughly 7,250 truckers have been placed out of service for failing the reinstated English standards, which the Obama-era DOT had weakened to accommodate foreign drivers -- many of whom, officials say, lacked even a basic ability to read road signs or communicate with law enforcement. Duffy said the new standards are designed to crack down on the black market trucking industry that relies on cheap foreign labor with limited or no English proficiency.

The announcement follows a series of deadly highway crashes involving foreign or illegal alien truck drivers. In one recent case, an illegal alien from India allegedly killed three Americans in California -- a sanctuary state that issued him a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) without enforcing the federal English language requirement. "My prayers are with the families of the victims of this tragedy. It would have never happened if Gavin Newsom had followed our new rules," Duffy said. "California broke the law, and now three people are dead and two are hospitalized. These people deserve justice. There will be consequences."

Duffy is reportedly weighing penalties, including withholding millions in federal funds from California, for failing to follow the Trump administration's CDL standards.

Another similar case occurred in Florida, where an illegal alien -- also from India -- is accused of killing three people after making an illegal U-turn on a highway. Investigators discovered the man had failed a written driving test 10 times but was still granted a CDL in both Washington and California, two sanctuary states. After the crash, DOT officials administered an English proficiency assessment, which the driver failed -- answering only 2 of 12 verbal questions correctly and recognizing just 1 of 4 traffic signs.

No more Third World Assassins driving their Murder Rigs over American citizens.

Related: Democrats sued to block the Department of Agriculture from even determining how many illegal aliens receive SNAP benefits.

Note that this is not about stopping illegal aliens from receiving SNAP benefits -- just to stop the Department of Agriculture from even counting the number of illegal aliens receiving the benefits.

They want to rob you and subordinate you, and they will use every means fair and foul from even learning about their intentions.

The whole thing is bizarre and unfeasible.

BACKFIRED: Spanberger’s Preferred Climate Policy Caused 2.1B More Pounds of CO2 Emissions

Virginia Democrat gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger supports a climate project that actually increased the carbon emissions Virginia caused—and cost residents more money—according to the commonwealth’s Department of Energy.

That project, the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, “was supposed to decrease emissions, but it actually increased emissions,” Glenn Davis, director of the Virginia Department of Energy, told The Daily Signal in an interview Tuesday. He called it a “bait and switch.”...

So, how did the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, a program aimed at decreasing carbon emissions, actually increase them?

“RGGI penalized utilities for emissions generated by in-state generation facilities, but it did not address any out-of-state generation facilities, so Dominion [Energy] decreased their power generation on their natural gas facilities in Virginia and supplemented it with their coal-burning facilities in West Virginia,” Davis explained.

I think the goal is to put the fear of God into the trucking companies, the contracting co.s, and more importantly the insurance co.s. None of them want hire a driver who's going to get rolled up, leaving cargo on a highway in BFE. Yes, they still have to go after the fly-by-night license holders, still a good start.

It's difficult to imagine a valid company putting one of these illiterates behind the wheel of a rig, the tractor alone costs $150K plus the trailer and its contents. And the liability. A thousand years ago a $million dollars liability per truck was requisite.
The whole thing is bizarre and unfeasible.

Who owns these trucks? What are the company names?

Read up on "Double Brokering" to get an idea of what's really going on. Mid size transit companies sub it out to these one or two vehicle owner operator locations. Many of these "double broker" moves end up with the owner operator just keeping whatever is being transported, and it never shows up. They move locations, and the shipper and receiver have no idea what happened to the product.

Duffy said the new standards are designed to crack down on the black market trucking industry that relies on cheap foreign labor with limited or no English proficiency.

Except the the shipper and the receiver may not even know if the trucker is illegal, if they are using a freight brokerage. Also what do you do with an impounded load of perishable food?

1. Arrest the driver on the spot.
2. Seize the truck and trailer on the spot. But...
3. Put a DOT-hired driver in the seat, and let him complete the run, and make the delivery. Consignee is assessed a 20,000 dollar fine for being a party to the use of illegal labor, which can be waived if they cooperate in the prosecution of the trucking company or crooked freight broker.
4. Once trailer is unloaded, DOT driver takes it to regional impound lot, where they are held until the auction date.

Well, Duel with Dennis Weaver was a maniac in a tanker truck chase. Big Clown Face was King's Maximum Overturd.

As for cars, go rent The Car (1977) with James Brolin and Kathleen Quinlan. Fun, and it also got a nice nod with The Honking episode (S3.1) in Futurama.

Many of these "double broker" moves end up with the owner operator just keeping whatever is being transported, and it never shows up. They move locations, and the shipper and receiver have no idea what happened to the product.

316 I want a rule where if a driver is found driving illegally the trucking company is fined $100k. I know most of them are fly by night. But it’ll add one more incentive to not do it to legitimate companies.

Hmmmm. I don't think I like it. It doesn't seem like the punishment fits the crime.

Where the trucking company has an illegal alien driver and the there can be little doubt that company *knew* the driver was an unqualified illegal - "No Name Given" or can't speak English, etc. - the truck *and* its cargo should just be seized under civil asset forfeiture and then auctioned off. Make that shit sandwich of a law for work for our side for once and make the penalty stupendous. Losing a truck is a big deal. Losing a cargo is an even bigger deal. Insurance won't cover it (due to the fraud involved) and shippers will start looking up the trucking companies' asses to make damn sure their freight isn't facing that risk.

317 McConnell’s ruling came minutes after a federal judge in Boston, Indira Talwani, in response to a separate but similar lawsuit, said that plaintiffs in that case are likely to succeed on their claim that the administration’s “suspension of SNAP benefits is unlawful.”

How about that? Two judges, legislating away.

Posted by: Huck Follywood at October 31, 2025 03:07 PM (F9slB)

318 I don't understand why a trucking company would even take the chance insurance liability wise.

But anyway, all this illegal immigration throughout the western world is of course purposeful and by design... the purpose being to deliberately destroy the foundation of those nations. Not sure how the people doing it don't think they will fall prey to the sword but it is what it is.

Someone on an earlier thread said that Buttigieg may be a front runner for Dem candidate for President in 2028. With what qualifications? . He was-unlike Sean Duffy- terrible as transportation secretary.
Posted by: FenelonSpoke

==============

He'll be dismantled by his counterpart in the 2028 campaign -- whether he's top of the ticket or #2. I think the problem is, people generally have no idea what the Transportation Secretary does unless they do something like strip 7,250 drivers of their licenses and (please God) sue California for granting illegal CDLs. That 1) Buttigieg is gay, and 2) the roads didn't get swallowed up by the earth and planes didn't fall out of the sky during his tenure is good enough for Dems.

324 Early this morning, FOX had a couple guys on from some trucking organization. They said there are a lot of shady, fly-by night trucking outfits popping up in the sanctuary states that are the ones hiring these illiterate illegals. They take advantage of the sanctuary shit to get drivers on the cheap.

Possibly true, but these guys are from a trucking organization, so what else are they gonna say but that this is a limited, isolated problem? I suspect the problem is much deeper. Companies are always looking to reduce labor costs. Hiring cheap illegals is often the go-to move. So long as a truck has his papers and CDL -- and these illegal murder-machine drivers apparently did -- then it's easy to look the other way and pocket the savings.

But say I was shipping you a used radiator for your Studebaker, and the freight company puts it on illegal's truck, and it gets seized? We are both fucked, out of no fault of our own.

____

These "ground stop" orders are common and happen even without a shutdown. There are too few air traffic controllers to begin with, and the volume of planes going into and out of three major airports only 25 miles apart -- JFK, LGA, and EWR -- makes it very difficult to keep the flights all going on time. It's been a decades-long problem.

There was a 30-minute ground shut-down into Newark when I was coming back from Charlotte on Wednesday. I suspect it was more weather-related than anything, but it was blamed on the shutdown.

So... Brother Achmed buys the truck... hires Brother Mohamed to drive it... who has a CDL from somewhere like Ill or Calif... then they subcontract using the independent trucker network...

As an added bonus it adds to the starving kids drama that even the food banks are struggling. and, we know whose fault that is.

386 I sincerely hope that this shutdown not only ends the EBT program, but the TSA as well.

There is no reason why air travel should be disrupted by government workers not showing up or getting paid due to cheap political tricks. Let the airlines hire their own, like a civilized country.

387 Big trucks are like B-52s, as long as they are maintained they are ageless.

They need air travel to be as inconvenient as possible. Here's the current airport situation: https://nasstatus.faa.gov/

For instance, if you're flying in to ATL right now, expect to circle for 83 minutes.

395 Asmongold has a recent video (not linked because of filters) of a Chinese driver who didn't speak English in Oklahoma, illegally parked as an officer questioned him. It's worth finding to see how bad it is.

People think of immigration as a border state problem, but these trucks aren't meant to stay stationary. It will take a tragedy in New York for them to notice (and then, judging by recent events, 25 years later they will make a bad foreign driver their mayor)

396 Late to the party…but when I was in trucking school, I had to pass what I found out later was a simple literacy test. I was presented with road signs and asked what they meant.

Two people in our cohort couldn’t pass it and were shown the door.

397 Not even at the airport I went to a five guys recently. It’s $10 just for the burger before fries or a drink are added. Like WTF? $20 for fast food. Not going back any time soon.
