Having Succeeded in Destroying a Fourth Beloved IP, Disney Ends Its Financial Backing of Doctor Who (Is Gay)

Doctor Who veered left under Steven Moffat and Peter Capaldi, then went full identity politics with the "first female Doctor" under Chris Chibnal. Turns out, Jodie Whitaker wasn't even the first female Doctor -- they retconned many earlier doctors, including, of course, a never-before-seen First Black Female Doctor.

As a black woman of female, I had never felt more validated.

Having turned Doctor Who into yet another Princess brand, of course Disney couldn't miss out on getting in on the action and ushering the immortal Doctor into the grave.

And it just so happens that for the two seasons Disney funded the show, the Doctor was now black and gay. And not just gay. Super-Gay.

The Doctor's sex life was never part of the show before. Yes, he'd had sex -- he had had children, and grandchildren -- but he was a grandfatherly figure of wisdom who had little interest in sex and considered it a boring distraction from the real marvels of the universe.

This changed in the rebooted series, where the Doctor sometimes flirted with female companions. But this never went beyond a chaste fondness.

Then the first gay Doctor came in, and he was gay all the way. The previous heterosexual Doctors had never been straight-all-the-way. He didn't gawk at women. At most, he'd make an offhand quip about having once been in a relationship with Queen Elizabeth I or something.

But when he went gay, he was full-on in-your-face gay. He even wore a skirt and went disco-dancing.

Point is, Disney swooped in to "save" Doctor Who when its ratings were already among the lowest they had ever been due to its egregious and incessant woke messaging. They "rescued" the show, which the BBC was no longer willing to fund.

And then the show turned even woker. And its ratings went from among the worst in the show's sixty year history to the very worst in the show's sixty-year history.

And now, having accomplished its mission of destroying yet another formerly male-skewing property, Disney says they're done and satisfied with a job well done.

It has been rumored for months and now it has become reality.

Disney+ will be exiting the TARDIS and will no longer be involved with Doctor Who after partnering on two seasons with the BBC plus an upcoming spin-off titled The War Between The Land and the Sea.

The BBC just confirmed that the show will continue and will return with a Christmas special in 2026 penned by showrunner Russell T. Davies. Details of future seasons will be announced in due course along with more information on an animation for pre-school children.

Nope! The plan was always to do a sixtieth anniversary "holiday special" (the show stopped doing Christmas shows a while ago; wouldn't want to give any kind of exposure to the Christian ideology.)

That doesn't mean the show is "continuing." It means only that they're doing the one additional episode they already contracted to doing.

There is no current Doctor to continue the show. The actor playing the ultra-gay black Doctor angered the BBC when he refused to honor a commitment to be some kind of presenter for the BBC's broadcast of the Eurovision song contest. Ncuti Gatwa boycotted the event due to his extreme hatred of Israel (which was featured in the show, and, as usual, getting no votes due to Euorpe's high levels of antisemitism, both domestic and imported).

So he's out.

But that's okay, because anniversary specials usually feature the return of actors who have played the Doctor in the past. So the show will just be whoever is willing to come out of the retirement home to pick up an easy check.

And that will be that.

The Groomer BBC and Groomer Disney Corporation teamed up to kill the Doctor, once and for all, and I'm glad he's dead. Or she's dead. Or they's dead.

Well, since the BBC shits on everything they do worse than Disney, that’s not comforting at all. They will probably turn Dr Who into an African migrant. They went back into a lot of the old series you could get on Brit Box, Fawlty Towers and a bunch of others, and edited out the “offensive” parts. So F them. You would be better off if they sold the property to an independent outfit who didn’t give a fig about pleasing the mob or bowing to Euro-Censorship which is now their sine qua non.

When I was 6 years old circa 1970-ish, Dr. Who (reruns I'm sure?) came on at the same time in the afternoon that Wild Wild West (reruns I'm sure) came on. It was a no-brainer for me--to this day I've never watched a complete episode of Dr. Who. I won't be watching any of the newer versions either--if I wanted to watch gays on parade I'd cue up Tim Walz campaign events from youtube.

Yes, the best way to play it would have been to have it seem the most normal thing possible and have the woman act as much like Baker as possible for a while. Since it would be for the timelord.

Probably the stupidest thing I've seen on a screen lately is the "Sugar Town" commercial for Google's cellphone.

It's supposed to be an anti-iPhone commercial where people live in the peaceful, happy world of "Sugar Town" clicking vanilla ice cream cones everywhere they go, but...oh, no!

They can't use the iCe Cream cone for everything, but they still go happily about their business, until-

a snippy Karen shows up and being all-knowing except about flowers gets her Google phone to tell her what they are.

I don't get it. Sugar Town seems perfectly nice. All clean and crime-free. Sugar Town is a nice song by Nanci Sinatra. It seems pretty sweet(!) until Karen shows up.

It was a very well made light horror movie with only a quick moment of light gore at the beginning.

236 I was a weird kid, I liked Rosie's daytime talk show and watched I after school sometimes. I can even still hum the theme song jingle. She was so excited to have gotten her first adopted baby. Gushed about how much she loved it, and how crazy it is that really young babies don't have smelly poop. It was a weird thing to talk about in the show. But I liked she was excited about every aspect of parenting, even baby poop. Her mom died when she was young and it scarred her. She was excited at the time to be a mom.

But I don't know what's happened to Rosie since. It's hard to believe all the charming parts of her in the 90s was all an act. Was some of it real?

269 Hollywood actually hit themselves in the face twice. It's easy to say that they are catering to the radical left, and the are with the "message". But, they, ALSO, gutted their crew talent.

There is a great article (unfortunately I can't remember the writer)...but he was talking about how one of the best "Animation Departments" ever to be assembled was at Disney. But, they were all middle aged and old white guys. So, Disney provided free reign to the DEI office, and they gutted the animation department. And, replaced these legends with film school nobodies lacking any facet of animation talent. You can, actually, see the difference in product by just looking at the quality of what is released now and what was released then. Especially on expressions of the animated character.

So, it's not just that they are creating a woke product. They have replaced their best crew talent with diversity hires.

284 I was a weird kid, I liked Rosie's daytime talk show and watched I after school sometimes. I can even still hum the theme song jingle. She was so excited to have gotten her first adopted baby. Gushed about how much she loved it, and how crazy it is that really young babies don't have smelly poop. It was a weird thing to talk about in the show. But I liked she was excited about every aspect of parenting, even baby poop. Her mom died when she was young and it scarred her. She was excited at the time to be a mom.

But I don't know what's happened to Rosie since. It's hard to believe all the charming parts of her in the 90s was all an act. Was some of it real?

No. Company Stores were a real thing. They existed. Companies really did - when they could - pay employees in part with Company Store Credit. Look it up.

When 401K stuff first came out - and now we're really talking 80s - when I was just about to enter the workforce - there were a few cases of companies raiding group funds. And a ton of cases of companies burning the pension funds dry. In my case ? My 401K match was in "proxy shares". Turns out, in a buyout, the board could vote those shares at a lesser price in turn for a personal bonus.

Company Stores were real. I'm not stunned someone here though it was fake. That's the general mindset of "I love my corporations".

Take a beloved Movie or Book Character, and decide that THEY know better who that character is, or should be, then the original.

If they want a specific character, or story, don't try to ride in on the coattails of an existing character... write your own damn original.

Yeah, not a fan. It wasn't good.

The least realistic aspect of the show was Raylan filling up dead air by having a torrid affair with an old, potato shaped black woman for no reason at all.

She was not attractive in any way and it pulled you out of the show.

If she'd been a hot black honey, sure, why not? But, she wasn't.

Also Raylan played second fiddle a lot of the time to Ol' Tater and his daughter.

Do not watch.
